  • Purpose: The purposes of this study are as follows: Identifying the types of bullying; describing the relationship among social support, parent-adolescent communication and bullying types; identifying factors influencing the bullying. Method: 374 subjects were 5-6th grade students of two elementary schools in Daejeon. We collected the data from June 10 to October 29, 2002. The data were analyzed by using the frequency, ANOVA, pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression in the SPSS. Result: The 7 % of the subjects were found as bullies and another 23.8 % as victims, while 25.9 % were found as bully-victim group. The number of the victims in peer-support got less than in the normal or bully group. In the correlation analysis, the score of bullies, victims and bully-victim group were reversely-correlated with the social support. The score of victims was reversely-correlated with the mother-adolescent communication. In regression analysis, the social support influenced significant effects on both the bullies and victims. Conclusion: Findings indicated that the health professionals need to identify social support and parent-adolescent communication according to bullying types. Therefore, adequate approaches for the three independent groups of bullying are necessary.

  • It was investigated the morphological changes of differentiating epidermal cells in chick embryos. Ectodermal cells at 3 days after incubation were cuboidal, their nuclei were large, and rough endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria were distributed in the cytoplasm. At 5 days after incubation, there were periderm and one basal layer in epidermis. The cells of basal layer were columnar, their nuclei were round, and rough endoplasmic reticulum and free ribosomes were developed. Also, peridermal cells were flat, chromatins were partially condensed and glycogen particles were abundant. No periderm showed and cells of basal layer formed intermediate layer at 9 days after incubation. Basal cells of intermediate layer were cuboidal, neighboring cells were anchored by desmosomes and tonofibrils and free ribosomes were evenly scattered. At 15 days after incubation, stratum corneum and stratum germinativum were distinguished. In cells of stratum germinativum, tonofibrils, free ribosomes and desmosomes were well developed. And then, the shedding of stratum corneum were showed at 17 days after incubation and stratum corneum were well developed after hatching.

  • Since the economic crisis in 1997, the Korean government has implemented a number of reforms in order to eliminate inefficiencies in both private and public sectors. One of the reforms made in the public sector was to lower the retirement age of teachers from the original age of 65 to that age 62. The ultimate aim of this compulsory policy was to improve the quality level of education by hiring many young teachers instead of senior teachers. It was made based on the calculation that by lowering the retirement age by three years, the government can hire three young teachers with the saved wages. However, this policy has brought an unexpected result; the imbalance between the supply and demand for teachers has become a much more serious problem in Korea's elementary education system The purpose of this study is largely twofold; First of all, it aims to identify the scope of imbalances occurred in the supply-demand system of elementary school teachers in a region of the nation, and also to find out why such imbalance occurred. Secondly, the purpose of this study is to experiment with feasible policy alternatives and their effects on the system and to suggest some resolutions on the imbalance.

  • Until now, it has not been well known for Far-infrared(FIR) how to affect to the human body. We introduced and presumed the mechanism of FIR based on molecular biology in this study, as below. The human body is composed of proteins which get easily changed by a thermal factor (about 42 $^{\circ}$C over). FIR with low temperature can deeply penetrate on the human body composed things without troublesome, since FIR has effectively operated on the human body at low temperature (35-40 $^{\circ}$C). When FIR penetrated on the human body, it would inhibit the abnormal genes and cells expression, and then information of DNA and RNA would be reexpressed for arranging DNA and RNA abnormal state. As FIR's receptors in the body, it colud be presumed that N-glycosyl linkage of purine and deoxyribose, RNA splicing process, and heat shock protein.

  • A novel hyperspectral imaging spectrometer controlling spatial and spectral resolution individually has been proposed. This imaging spectrometer uses a zoom lens as a telescope and a focusing element. It can change the spatial resolution fixing the spectral resolution or the spectral resolution fixing the spatial resolution. Here, we report the concept of the hyperspectral imaging spectrometer with the novel zooming function and the optical design of a zoom lens as the focusing element. By using lens module and third-order aberration theory, we have presented the initial design of four-group zoom lens with external entrance pupil. And the optimized zoom lens with a focal length of 50 to 150 mm is obtained from the initial design by the optical design software. As a result, the designed zoom lens shows satisfactory performances in wavelength range of 450 to 900 nm as a focusing element in an imaging spectrometer. Furthermore, the collimator lens of the imaging spectrometer is designed through the third-order aberration correction by using an iterative process.

  • This study has purposes of not only establishing urban community park systems and index for designing the parks, which were reviewed from Korean urban community parks, but also finding the relation and the enticing area according to the catchment of urban community parks. This paper suggested two hypotheses. a. The strength of the catchment force of urban community parks can be represented to the usetimes or visitors of the parks, related with the distance for reaching the parks. b. The strength of the catchment force of the parks can be found to express the idiosyncratic one according to the qualitative differences between the parks. The suggested hypotheses were testified from Korean 9 urban community parks in Seoul., Suwon, Chongju, and Chonan, conforming the multiregressions of the variables, distance and usetime in the case of the first hypothesis, scale, the ratio of green space, population, the budget for the park, facilities and the function of the city in the case of the second hypothesis. All the correlation coefficients of usetime with distance except one were over about 0.8. The second hypothesis was testified with multiregressions for the variables. Therefore, the enticing area could be divided into three zones ; a closed aone to parks, a good used aone for parks, a possible zone for using parks.

  • Antioxidant and redox enzyme activities are known to be involved in the cellular responses to various stresses. Their variations were observed according to the growth cycle of the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Peroxidase activity appeared to be notably higher in the early exponential phase than in the mid-exponential and stationary phases. However, catalase activity showed a variation pattern resembling the growth curve. Glutathione S-transferase activity was higher in the early exponential and late stationary phases. Activities of the two redox enzymes, thioredoxin and thioltransferase (glutaredoxin), were high in the stationary phase. However, their activities appeared to increase from the early exponential to mid-exponential phase. Total glutathione content had a varying pattern similar to that of thioredoxin and thioltransferase. However, its content in the early exponential phase was high. These results propose that antioxidant and redox enzymes tested are also involved in the mechanism of cell growth.

  • To increase freeze-thaw resistance of porous concrete, this study examined physical properties of polymer by replacing paste used as a binding material with polymer, using unsaturated polyester and epoxy resin, and changing the mixing ratio of polymer. According to the result of this study, when the mixing ratio of resin paste to aggregates was 11 to 16%, voids volume was 33 to 37% and unit weight was about 1620 to 1720kg/$m^3$. In comparison with previous studies using cement paste, voids volume increased by about 7 to 16%, while unit weight decreased by about 100 to 300kg/$m^3$. Compressive strength was 90 to 155kg/$cm^2$ at the age of 7 days, which was 5-40kg/$cm^2$ bigger than porous concrete using cement paste. From a viewpoint of freeze-thaw resistance, it was identified that pluse velocity fell by 0.23km/sec, about 7% of the original velocity, when the cycle of freeze-thaw was repeated 300 times. In spite of 300 repetitions of the cycle, relative dynamic modulus of elasticity was more than 60%, which suggested that its freeze-thaw resistance was more excellent compared with the result that relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of porous concrete using cement paste was 60 % or less under the condition of 80 repetitions of freeze-thaw cycle.
