Critical Factors Affecting the Choice of Logistics Service Provider: An Empirical Study in Vietnam

  • The trend of globalization leads an increased need for international freight transportation and accelerates the development of the international logistics industry. The objective of this paper is to identify the critical factors that affect the choice of logistics service provider (LSP). The data sample was collected through a questionnaire, responded by 218 companies that outsource logistics services. The analysis uses descriptive statistics; exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and regression analysis were conducted with SPSS. The role of capabilities, customer service, and company reputation were evaluated and tested. Our findings show that capabilities and customer service have a considerable impact on the choice of LSP. The findings also indicate that company reputation do not have significant impact on the choice of LSP. They also showed that the capabilities is the variable that has the most significant effect on the choice of LSP. An implication of this study is that the competition should not only focus on pricing, but should be extended to improving enterprises capabilities, i.e., upgrading human resources, modernizing the modes of transportation, expanding business geographically and developing new technologies. Our study provides LSP managers with insights into how to meet customer expectations in the competitive logistics service sector.

분만기관 선택과 이용 후의 평가 (Choice of Medical Care Institution for Delivery and Evaluation of the Institution after Delivery)

  • There exists a general consensus in Korea that patients tend to concentrate in large hospitals and this tendency is partly responsible for inefficiency in health services. The process of choosing a medical care provider for health care services and evaluating the provider after utilization seems to involve many diverse factors to become very complex. Therefore a systemsatic study is needed to achieve sufficient understanding of the proeess. For this point of view, this study investigates patient's selection of medical care institution for delivery care services and their evaluation of the institution after delivery. In more specific, the objectives of the study are twofold: 1) to identify the factors associated with expectant mothers' choice of type of medical care institution for delivery among tertiary hospitals, general hospitals, small hospitals, and clinics: and 2) to understand the factors affecting patient evaluation of the medical care institution after delivery. The data used for the analysis were collected through face-to-face interviews with those women who had childbirth during the period from January 1, 1996 to the date of interview in February 1998. The survey was conducted using preqared structured questionnaire in Seoul. The sample was drawn from each of arbitrarily defined four regions of Seoul, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest, in proportion to the number of births reported in 1996 in each of them. The distribution of the interviewed women by educational level was made similar to that of mothers of new babies reported in 1996. The sample size was planned to be about 300, but ended up with analytical sample of 319. Major conclusions emerged from the analysis can be summarized as follows: 1) Large hospitals were evaluated as much better for technical quality than other types of institutions, whereas they were compared similar to or worse for other attributes. And it was found that technical quality of care is considered as the most important condition of medical care institution for delivery, while the amount of direct cost is considered as the least important one. Taken together, the utilization of large hospitals is not likely to decrease even though they cannot give satisfaction to patients in other aspects than technical quality. 2) The activeness in the search for information affected the respondents' evaluation of medical care institutions, which would influence their later decision or recommendation to other persons as to the choice of source of health care services. Therefore, increased efforts should be directed to improving availability of useful and correct information for patients in relation to the utilization of health care services. 3) Since the findings of this study were obtained from the analysis of delivery care services, their applicability to other kinds of services may be limited. Thus it would be useful to conduct a comparative study of several kinds of services explicitly taking into account the characteristics of those services in the analysis.

전환 좌절상황에서 소비자의 부정적 심리반응에 관한 연구 (The Effects of Switching-Frustrated Situation on Negative Psychological Response)

  • 현재 치열한 경쟁상황 속에서 기업들은 소비자들이 다른 대안으로 전환하는 것을 막기 위한 다양한 전략들을 실행하고 있으며, 이 중에서 전환장벽을 이용하는 전략은 고객유지와 관련해 매우 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 전환 장벽으로 인해 새로운 대안으로 바꾸지 못하고 현재 서비스제공자와의 관계를 유지해야 하는 소비자 입장에서도 전환장벽이 긍정적일 것인가? 심리적 반작용이론에 의하면, 사람들은 어떤 자유가 위협받거나 제거될 때, 그 자유를 되찾는 방향으로 동기부여 되거나 어떤 부정적 반응을 보일 수 있다고 하였다. 전환장벽 역시 전환의 자유를 제약한다는 점에서 소비자의 부정적 반응을 유발할 수 있으므로, 본 연구는 전환장벽으로 인해 다른 대안을 단념해야 하는 상황에서 소비자가 경험할 수 있는 부정적 심리 반응과 그에 영향을 주는 변수들에 초점을 맞춘다. 연구가설에서, 부정적 심리반응에는 '이전선택에 대한 후회', '현재 제공자에 대한 원망', '좌절된 제공자에 대한 열망'을 포함하였으며, 전환좌절 상황의 특성-'좌절된 대안의 매력성', '전환 장벽의 심각성'-이 이러한 반응들에 영향을 줄 것으로 가정하였다. 그리고 이러한 전환 좌절상황의 특성이 주는 부정적 영향은 현재까지 해당 제공자로부터 받은 대우에 따라서 달라질 것으로 보고 지각된 공정성을 조절변수로 추가하였다. 연구 결과 전환좌절상황의 특성과 부정적 심리반응의 관계는 모두 지지된 반면, 지각된 공정성의 조절효과는 대부분의 관계를 상호작용 공정성이 조절하는 것으로 나타나 일부만이 지지 되었다. 이러한 결과는 전환 장벽의 긍정적 측면에만 영향을 밝혀온 기존 연구의 한계점보완하고 있으며 그에 따른 이론적 실무적 시사점을 제공해준다.

수입중간재와 신재생에너지정책 (RPS and FIT with Transaction Costs)

  • 우리나라는 2002년부터 시행해온 FIT를 대신하여 2012년부터 RPS로 신재생에너지 정책을 전환하였다. RPS와 FIT는 국내 신재생에너지의 보급 확대 및 기술개발을 촉진하기 위해 도입되었다. 우리는 신재생에너지정책수단(RPS와 FIT)이 관련 기업들의 중간재 선택에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 기업들이 선택할 수 있는 중간재는 국내재와 비용경쟁력이 있으나 거래비용이 존재하는 수입재를 고려하였다. 거래비용이 크지 않을 경우에는 RPS가 초기 시장경쟁력이 낮은 국내 신재생에너지 생산업자에게 유리한 환경을 조성하여 해외 신재생에너지기업과 경쟁할 수 있는 여건을 조성할 수 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이것은 시장경쟁력을 갖춘 해외 기업과 비교하여 상대적으로 비용 경쟁력이 낮은 국내 녹색에너지산업을 고려하면 RPS가 한국정부의 최적의 선택임을 함축한다.

3자간게임모형에 의한 3G 이동통신단말기의 치적유통전략 (An Optimal Strategy of 3G Mobile Handset Distribution by 3-Person Game)

  • The USIM(universal subscriber identity module)-unlock introducing in July 1, 2008 might be led to a significant change that mobile service provider's dominance is considerably dispersed to the handset manufacturer and distributor. Under USIM-unlock environment, mobile service provider, handset manufacturer, and distributor have to make their decisions on their handset distribution channel strategies: the closed distribution channel strategy or the open distribution channel strategy. The change of distribution channel strategy between members in distribution channel can be understood as a matter of strategy choice, and we have developed a theoretical model and analyzed how to make a decision for the member's optimal distribution strategy based on 3-person game model between members of mobile phone distribution channel, under both of '1 subscriber-1 handset' and '1 subscriber-multiple handset' assumptions. Under '1 subscriber-1 handset' assumption, the closed strategy controlled by mobile service provider is all players' optimal solution because the maximum size of the mobile phone market is limited by subscribers. But, as total expected profit by the handset and distribution subsides is a deficit, mobile service provider have to choose the open strategy and consider the conversion to MNO(mobile network operator). Under '1 subscriber-multiple handset' assumption, mobile service provider is trying to find the way how to lock-in its service and mobile phone and how to maximize ARPU(average revenue per unit), while handset manufacturer and distributor have to look for the way how to maximize the mobile phone market using their own marketing efforts, because it is expected that total mobile handset demand for the open market is bigger than demand for the closed market under '1 subscriber-multiple handset' assumption.

기능적 속성을 고려한 DMB 서비스의 채택 결정요인 분석 (Determinant Factors Including Functional Attributes for Accepting Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Service)

  • In this paper we consider the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) Service that starts recently in Korea and gains popularity. DMB makes it possible to watch high quality TV programs while we are in motion. The service provider or the service researcher are interested in the factors that influence the user's choice of new service such as DMB. Understanding the factors make them create the powerful marketing strategies and develop the new service or product that is attractive for users. We therefore find the factors influencing the user's choice of DMB service, and propose a model for analyzing the relationship between the factors and the intention of buying. The model is based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). We extend the TAM by adding factors including functional attributes of DMB service. We survey the significant functional attributes influencing the intention of buying by using the proposed model.

  • The cutthroat competition of the market for the medical services caused changes and developments of hospital management from the traditional provider-oriented management to a consumer-oriented management toward the customer. And the popularization of on-line community through the growth and spread of internet technology is developed into an important exploration activity to provide various medical information to patient(or customer) who wishes a high-quality medical services. This is an on-line Word-of-Mouth(WOM). It is a kind of information exploration that is performed by customers before choosing the hospital with off-line word-of-mouth. In this study, we develop our research model to verify the causal relationships among on/off-line WOM, key determinants of hospital choice and the customer's will to make use of the hospitals, and total effect of these variables. We adopt a component-based PSL method for an empirical analysis of the patients experienced dermatology or obstetrics gynecology. Finally, we understand the characteristics of the various medical services and draw new and significant strategic previews.

노인돌보미바우처 정책집행분석 -선택과 경쟁은 실현되는가?- (A Policy Implementation Analysis on the Care Voucher for the Aged -Focusing on Choice and Competition-)

  • 본 연구는 노인돌보미바우처 정책집행분석 사례연구로 일선 집행현장에서 바우처 논리인 소비자 선택과 제공자 경쟁이 실현되는지, 어떤 양상으로 실현되는지 분석하였다. 서울시 ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ 구를 조사지역으로 선정하여 4개 제공기관과 돌보미, 일선공무원, 이용자를 대상으로 일선집행과정을, 그리고 보건복지가족부, 사회서비스관리센터 등의 정책관련자들을 대상으로 정책설계와 운영을 조사하였다. 총 39명에 대한 심층인터뷰와 참여관찰이 수행되었다. 연구 결과, 노인돌보미바우처 집행 일선에서는 정책설계에서 가정한 바우처 이용자의 제공기관 선택과 제공기관의 경쟁은 실현되고 있지 않았다. 일선공무원은 공급자지원방식에서와 마찬가지의 관행으로 이용자명단을 기관에 전달하고 제공기관은 '제공기관회의'를 구성하여 이용자를 나누고 있었다. 하지만, 이용자의 선택은 다양한 차원에서 이루어지고 있었으며 제공기관과 돌보미는 서비스 제공에서 이용자 중심성을 실현하는 방식으로 변화를 보이고 있었다.

  • 정보통신 기술의 발달과 IT 아웃소싱의 확대로 인터넷접속 서비스, 응용프로그램 서비스, 컨텐츠 서비스, 저장 서비스 등 다양한 종류의 가입형 정보통신 서비스가 제공되고 있다. 시장의 성숙과 산업 간 융합에 따른 경쟁의 심화로 인하여, 이들 서비스 제공기업들에게 있어서 기존 고객을 유지하고 경쟁사 고객의 전환을 유도하기 위한 고객 관리가 중요한 과제가 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 가입형 정보통신 서비스 제공 기업들의 효과적인 고객 관리를 위하여, 서비스 구매 후의 고객 선택(기존 서비스의 계속적 이용 또는 다른 서비스로의 전환)에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 영향의 주체와 영향의 성격에 따라 Holding 요인, Defect 요인, Inducement 요인, Hurdle 요인으로 유형화하고 이를 바탕으로 가입형 정보통신 서비스의 구매 후 고객선택모형을 제시하였다. 또한, 제시된 모형의 활용 방안을 초고속 인터넷 서비스를 중심으로 제시하였다. 이러한 고객선택모형의 활용은 기술의 급속한 발전과 다양한 대체 서비스의 출현으로 빠른 수명 주기를 보이는 가입형 정보통신 서비스 시장에서 효과적인 고객 관리를 통한 경쟁 우위의 확보에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

한국여성의 제왕절개술 영향요인에 관한 생태학적 접근 (Impact Factors of Korean Women's Cesarean Section according to Ecological Approach)

  • Purpose: This study examined the impact factors of cesarean section based on the ecological approach in Korea. Methods: Population-based data (Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs) were used from 2,849 delivery cases during 2003~2009. Data were analyzed using geographic statistics with STATA 10.0 and hierarchical logistic regression with SPSS/WIN 12.0. Results: The range of cesarean section rate was 28.8~44.7% with geographic distribution. The proportion of mother's problem was increasing in choice of cesarean section. According to the ecological model, age of mother (OR=1.08), time of birth (OR=0.79), delivery in hospital (OR=1.83), delivery in clinic (OR=1.46), and education of mother (OR=2.61) had significant impact on cesarean section. Conclusion: This study contributes to provide the impact factors of the high cesarean rate in Korea ecologically. Policy maker and health care provider can consider these results to reduce cesarean section rate.
