본 연구는 어린이 도서에 대한 서평을 제공하는 각종 매체의 존재를 확인하고, 그러한 매체에 수록된 서평이 선정 도구로 적합한지를 평가하였으며, 이러한 과정을 통하여 보다 적절한 서평 매체로서의 역할을 증진하기 위해서 기존의 어린이 도서 서평 매체의 문제점을 분석하고 발전 방안을 제시하였다. 우리나라에서 활용할 수 있는 어린이 도서 서평 매체중 추천한 매체만을 대상으로 한 서평 분석 결과에 의하면 선정 도구로 활용할 수 있을 정도의 정보를 모두 제공하는 서평 매체는 없다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 도서관과 사서의 관점에서 어린이 도서를 평가한 서평 매체의 발행이 요구된다.

이 연구는 국내외 도서관의 직무사례를 분석한 선행연구 결과를 바탕으로 국내 도서관의 아동서비스 직무를 분석하고 표준모형을 제안한 후속연구이다. 이를 위하여 공공도서관과 아동도서관을 대상으로 직무에 대한 인식도를 조사 분석한 다음에 아동서비스를 강화하기 위한 표준 직무모형(중요성, 난이도, 전문성, 수행요건)을 제안하였다. 또한 표준 직무모형의 실천성을 화보하기 위한 아동사서의 전문성 제고와 자격제도화 방안을 제시하였다.

This study examines the spatial compositions of children's reading rooms, furniture characteristics, and users' satisfaction levels for the furniture in public libraries. Field measurements and surveys were performed in 5 public libraries. Results imply that the spatial compositions of reading rooms in libraries were classified into three categories according to the locations of bookshelves and reading space. Management areas should not be located at the edge of reading rooms but be located at the center of reading rooms to avoid clerks' narrow viewing angle toward young kids and to ensure security for the kids. The evaluation for bookshelves according to evaluation checklists was acceptable, but users were not always satisfied with the bookshelves due to the inappropriate positions of books in shelves. The evaluation for desks was generally acceptable according to the checklists and users were satisfied with them. In general, the desk with higher scores by the checklist provided better satisfaction to users. However, the score by checklist for chair and user satisfaction were not always similar each other. Convenience areas in reading rooms were not enough compared to bookshelf, reading and management area. Computer tables that were designed in a way that users sit down and use the computers were highly preferred.

본 연구는 국내에서 그림책의 서평의 변천과정을 공공도서관의 발달과 그림책 서평을 수록하고 있는 잡지의 등장시기, 서평의 발행주체와 주요 작성자를 중심으로 분석하였다. 시기별로 1980년대는 성인도서 위주의 전문서평지가 발간되기 시작하며, 1990년대는 어린이도서연구회와 같은 시민단체의 활동이 활발하였다. 2000년대 전반기는 독서관련 단체가 계속 활발히 활동하며 신문사의 북 섹션과 출판사 발행 문학잡지 내에 그림책 서평을 활발히 발간하기 시작하였다. 2000년대 중반 이후부터 최근까지는 공공도서관이 많이 건립되었으며 사서들이 서평 작성자로 등장한 것이 큰 특징이다.

본 연구는 KDC 4판을 중심으로 국내 어린이도서관의 어린이 자료 분류의 개선 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구, 국내 51개 어린이도서관의 KDC 적용 현황 조사와 부모 및 어린이 이용자의 요구 분석을 실시하였다. 국내 현황과 이용자 요구 분석 결과를 토대로 KDC 개선 방안을 분류체계 부문과 배가 부문으로 나누어 제시하였다. 우선, 분류체계 부문에서는 특정 기호에 집중되는 주제를 분산시키고, 어린이 자료의 다양한 유형과 특성, 다양한 어린이 문학 장르를 KDC 상에 반영해야 한다. 또한 학제적 주제에 대하여 상세한 주기 및 분류지침을 제공해야 한다. 배가 부문에서는 첫째, 이용자 친화적인 청구기호 구성과 배열 방법을 도입하고, 둘째, 이용자의 다양한 관심 분야를 반영한 컬렉션 구성과 어린이와 부모를 대상으로 이용교육을 실시하도록 제언하였다.

Today's public libraries in communities are on the processes of changes to integrate information and communication technology into traditional library system in order to support current users' demands for the new digital era. The purpose of this study is to examine the changing characters on space design and space uses of community based public libraries by conducting case studies of three branch libraries which were built after 2004 in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the United States. As the conclusion of this research, the findings of the case studies are utilized as basic data for planning and design guidelines for public libraries as community resources. The study summarizes the characteristics of space design and space uses in public libraries as follow; first, the floor plans of small-scale public libraries are open visually as well as spatially. The space organization of the libraries is arranged by potential noise levels, as placing noisy spaces near the entrance halls and quiet spaces at the back. Main book shelves are located in the middle of the library buildings, while seats are arranged along the window sides. By placing various kinds of furniture in open reading areas, library users can select different types of seats and tables for their comforts. Second. the survey of observation also finds that a large number of users often use library computers and personal computers to connect the internet at the libraries. These personal computer users who are new user group in community based libraries preferred to sit in casual study areas and individual tables with one or two seats only. Third, the libraries, in addition, develop and provide various programs and events for people in communities. Especially, the programs for children, the elderly and new comers from the abroad are well prepared, thus provide opportunities for them to visit the libraries in regular bases. The survey finds that family entertainment and leisure activities are the important parts of the program as well as renting music CD and movie DVD are also important reasons for people to come. Thus, the libraries prepare high quality children's space and CD shelves near the entrance hall.

This study investigates the mutual effects of the physical environment and the characteristics of user's need in the children's libraries of open plan type. The children's library as a flexible space should accept user's diverse needs. Especially, Children express more positive and diverse behaviors than adults in physical environment. As the design information obtained from observation of children's behaviors are put to architectural design, the more affluent environment in which children can do positive behaviors can be made. We used two research methods of the behavior observation and interview for the children's library, and could formulate various using actions through the behavior setting observation for using library. A relational description for reading environment in this study, based on the affordance and the behavior setting theories, provided us with rich accounts for the psychological and sociocultural resources in the children's library. Consequently, the following results can be summarized. First, children need territories for family use and for place and are using library effectively through taking the two territories. Second, the zoning according to age category should be done, as behavior patterns were observed differently according to age. Third, the space composition with openness should be designed, as children need social relation and learning through imitation and observation.

본 연구는 어린이도서 분류를 위한 KDC 6판의 개선 및 적용 방안을 마련하고자 문헌연구 및 설문조사를 실시하였다. 첫째, 어린이도서의 KDC 간략화 및 세분전개 방안으로 서울시교육청 20개 도서관 및 대표적인 C 도서관이 소장한 어린이도서 주제별 통계 분포를 바탕으로 중분류, 소분류로 간략화 할 분야를 제시하고, 세분화 전개가 필요한 항목은 도서관별 분류지침을 적용하여 확장할 것을 제안하였다. 둘째, 지식그림책과 동화는 내용과 주제에 따라 각 해당항목에 분류하고, 각 나라의 동화는 세목 추가 및 장르 구분을 추가하여 특정 기호에 편중된 자료를 분산시킬 것을 제시하였다. 셋째, 이용자를 위해 연령별, 독서수준별에 따른 배가 방안과 이를 위한 가이드라인의 배포, 분류와 관련한 이용자 교육 실시를 제안하였다. 본 연구는 향후 KDC 6판 개정 시 어린이도서의 간략판 개발 마련에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

최근 양성평등과 관련하여 국내의 관심이 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 사회 변화 속에 도서관의 아동 양성평등 장서에 대한 수요도 늘어날 것으로 예상된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공공도서관, 어린이도서연구회 등 각종 기관에서 제시하는 아동 양성평등 장서 목록과 장서/대출 데이터를 통해 전국 상위 10곳의 공공도서관을 선정한 후 이를 기반으로 양성평등 장서의 소장현황 및 대출현황을 통해 장서회전율, Bonn의 이용계수, Trueswell의 80/20 법칙을 적용하여 양적, 질적으로 비교·분석하였으며 분석 결과를 바탕으로 향후 공공도서관의 아동 장서 개발 정책에 반영해야 할 사안을 제시하였다.

이야기 들려주기는 예술의 한 분야로서 글을 모르는 취학 전 어린이에게 취학 준비과정으로 매우 효과적인 방법 중의 하나이다. 현재 여러 공공도서관에서 취학 전 어린이를 위한 이야기 들려주기 프로그램을 운영하고 있지만 그 효과는 크다고 할 수 없다. 이는 무엇보다도 프로그램 자체에 대한 인식이 부족하고 아울러 체계적으로 프로그램을 운영하고 있지 못하고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 오래 전부터 이야기 들려주기 프로그램을 운영하고 있는 미국 공공도서관의 실태를 조사, 검토하여 한국 공공도서관의 프로그램 운영 실태와 비교한 후 이야기 들려주기의 네 가지 구성 요소인 프로그램, 어린이 사서, 취학 전 어린이 및 도서관 환경에 초점을 맞춰 한국 공공도서관 실정에 맞는 효율적인 프로그램 운영 방안을 제시하는 데에 있다.
