The purpose of this paper is to compare the family policies of Nordic countries(Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) from 1980 to 2002. Three meaningful findings were found. First, there are several different characteristics in the family policies of Nordic countries in which the ideal understanding of similarity has departed from the reality. Especially, the differences of family policies have extensively expanded since 2000s. Second, for the last 20 years, all four countries have focused their efforts on expanding parents' (re)commodification rather than (re)familialization. Third, the countries have changed their direction in family policies. For example, Finland has changed from familialization to commodification during the mid-1990s.

This current study aims to investigate the reason for the low birth rate and increasing aging populations. It aims to offer potential countermeasures and possible solutions that might alleviate the decreasing birth rate and exponentially increasing aging populations. The present research has sought out to uncover the origin of the low birth rates and increasing aging populations by compiling various past studies and statistics in South Korea. It includes additional support from the government for working career women in easing their burden for raising a child and allocating the appropriate funds for the increasing elderly populations. The decreasing birth rate can be contributed as a side effect of the past policies passed in South Korea and in turn created an increase in the aging populations. Policies to tackle this current issue needs to be further investigated and employed for the future of the economic and sociological stability of the society. Consistent efforts need to be made to dispel the continuing decrease for birth rates and alarmingly increasing aging populations. Policies and redistribution of government funds are some of the many things that need to be revised.

Most preschool children in Korea attend kindergarten (KG) or a child care center (CCC). CCCs, which focus on caring for the child, belong to the ministry of health and welfare. On the other hand, KGs are responsible for education, and belong to the ministry of education, science and technology. In order to resolve the decline in population due to low birthrates, the government is expanding the free child care and education policies. CCCs and KGs are combined together to form the 'NURI curriculum' and supporting funds have been increased in both governmental departments. In addition, economic support is provided for homeschooling households. Because this is a nationwide policy and applies to every single household, thorough preparation regarding the effect and side effects must be made. This policy is currently being implemented, and as child and adolescent psychiatrists, great consideration should be given to the influence on the population. Therefore, the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry intends to investigate the effects and problems of the nationwide policy by analyzing the current condition of Korea's free child care and education and foreign policies. In the current paper, we reviewed the developmental process of Korea's free child care and education policy, as well as suggested future directions.

Also teachers' job satisfaction is correlated with responsibility in the case that teachers have a good relation with their principal and child-care parents. Third, the results of this study show that teachers consider substitute teachers, vacation systems, day care systems, compliant with the ratio of teacher and children, job security, order of legal status as important. With regard to external compensation, teachers want salary increase, payment on overtime labor, flexible work-time, use of both full-time and part-time teachers, expansion of educational materials, increase on purchasing cost for textbooks and materials. Being the most populated country in the world, China's one-child policy is its basic national policy. This basic national policy is implemented together with the Maternity Insurance, which is one of the five main social insurances in the Chinese society. The Maternity Insurance is society's way of recognizing women's contribution towards child- bearing and is of utmost important significance. However, with regard to women who are not living within the city or are not working, not only are they not the target for one-child policy, they are also unable to receive the social benefit from the Maternity Insurance. Among the conditions for payment of the Maternity Insurance is the adherence to the one-child policy. Ultimately, working women living in towns and cities adhering to the one-child policy will have a positive influence on the Maternity Insurance. However this places a restriction on reducing the discrepancies to benefit from the Maternity Insurance. On the contrary, women from the villages and those moving between towns and cities are those who really need the Maternity Insurance and yet are unable to benefit from it. While we improve on the Maternity Insurance to include this group of women, we have to at the same time consider the effect it has on the one-child policy. The reformation of the Maternity Insurance has to embody the principle of a harmonious society. It has to have a certain order in the country's national policies, so as to be included in the economic policies of towns and villages.

This study used the third wave data of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) that is a national-representative birth-cohort study. Among the 1,802 participants of the PSKC, 717 mothers who have a husband/partner and only one child have responded a decided intention of second childbirth. SPSS 19.0 and Amos 19.0 were used to implement exploratory analyses of predictors and test path models. Results showed that the hypothetical model assuming a path from paternal involvement in childrearing to mothers' intention of second childbirth, mediated by maternal parenting stress and marital satisfaction fitted the data of working mothers and non-working mothers well.
