  • It is an important issue to evaluate the effectiveness of chemical warfare through modeling and simulation(M&S) technology. In this paper, we propose the M&S methodology and environment for the chemical warfare for effectiveness analysis. In detail, for modeling perspective, we propose three fundamental component models according to their behaviors, which are a chemical weapon, a detecting device system, and an engaging unit system. Among proposed models, the chemical weapon and the detecting device system models are represented by engineering-level system models, whereas the engaging unit system model are described as an engagement-level system model. For simulation perspective, we apply a hybrid simulation environment using High Level Architecture (HLA) to interoperate with the proposed engineering and engagement-level models. The proposed M&S methodology and environment enables to evaluate the effectiveness of the chemical warfare system considering the doctrines, the performance of device or weapon, and weather factors. To verify the efficiency of the proposed methodology and environment, we experimented three categorized case studies, which are related with those considering factors.

  • Various chemical properties including density and heat of formation of 1-substitued trinitroimidazoles (TNIs) were estimated by using density functional theory (DFT). Using chemical properties estimated by DFT, explosive performance and sensitivity of 1-substitued TNIs were analyzed by following the ADD Method-1 procedure. The results were displayed on two-dimensional performance-sensitivity plot, and were compared with those of explosive molecules commonly used in many military systems. Different 1-substituents of TNI made that both explosive performance and impact sensitivity were changed significantly. Methyl substituted TNI became moderately insensitive and slightly less powerful. Amino, fluoro, picryl, and difluoroamino substituted TNIs were highly powerful like RDX and HMX, but greatly sensitive. Nitro substituted TNI was predicted to be extremely sensitive to be handled as a secondary explosive.

  • For front, aspect of terror may have to prepare indeed even chemical terror or rocket and small size missile and radioactivity terror because is predicted to become various. Furthermore, when see motion of every countries about nuclear engineerses' bringing round and illicit sale of plutonium, our country may have to prepare in terrorism which is expected thus. So that can finish international event successfully because the United States of America supports great manpower and budget since New York's World Trade Center terror and when see that is considering terror prevention countermeasure, we operate temporarily bursting tube state complete charge team such as terror by each field specialist such as a concern interested including special CBR complete charge moving team among 2002 World Cups soccer game period ahead of international event, must consider safety countermeasure. Specially, biology weapon of chemical weapon and cholera etc. 13 kinds of 5000ton that North Korea plans CBR terror society confusion that North Korea that to terror support nation as well as nuclear weapons development suspicion is defending South Korea communization strategy as real condition that is amplified as well as is saving production brand gets imprinted uses CBR terror at normal times, when see that is planing powerlessness communization unity using CBR weapon at time of war, must operate until bias 2002 World Cups international event finishes cooperation safety countermeasure utensil safely under closer talk between the South Korea ${\cdot}$ Japan ${\cdot}$ North Korea. As for us which must serve 2002 World Cup successfully to accomplish perfectly preparedness of CBR terror firstly, all inhabitants knows well CBR protection trick, and secondly, CBR existing formation that solidify realignment CBR complete charge moving team which of course is consisted of CBR specialist compose and keeping immediate going out attitude operating, by third, that expand CBR individual protection equipment and CBR evacuation equipment and establish individual and group protection attitude naturally, supplement as there is main room that actualize CBR pollution patient's slogan countermeasure by fourth, and develop standard model for CBR terror provision by fifthBecause constructing infra of CBR safety establishing CBR preparedness that utilize it, must minimize damage and contribute inhabitants' life and property protection.

  • Foam-type biodegradable polyurethane adhesives were developed as a non-lethal weapon against illegal fishing boats. The adhesives were prepared from a hardener of polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and a base composed of polyester and/or polyether polyols. In order to accelerate biodegradability, starch, dextrin, and amylase were added into the base, and which present about 34% degradability within 4 weeks confirmed by OECD 301C method. For proper mixing and corresponding prompt foam reaction, viscosities of hardener and base compositions were investigated in the temperature ranges from 0 to $50^{\circ}C$. For fast completion of the foam forming and corresponding adhesion, rising time was recorded in the same temperature range, and the rising time of the adhesive was varied within around 1 minute. T-peel adhesion tests with cotton fabrics were performed which showed 20.78 N/cm and 11.95 N/cm as the maximum and the average values, respectively.

  • Operating system of CBRNE(Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High-yield explosive)) weapon in North Korea has reached an internationally significant level. In preparation against the CBRNE weapon attack, the US is securing various forms of defense shelters and operating it based on classification by disaster characteristics. However, it is currently difficult to expect an efficient protective ability from South Korea due to the reckless designation of defense shelters without consideration of disaster characteristics. At this, this study examined the present condition of formerly used facilities, analyzed the characteristics of each facilities for the sorting of defense shelters that are possible of conversion into shelter against CBRNE weapon, and presented results and proposals gained through this study research.

  • GC-TSQ CI technique was applied for analysis of samples for the $32^{nd}$ OPCW proficiency test. Eight chemical weapon convention(CWC) related chemicals were identified by product ion mode analysis with GC-TSQ in the samples. Choice of specific precursor ion made it possible to supply selective total ion chromatograms(TICs) of target molecule. GC-TSQ CI anaylsis technique was useful method for chemical warfare agent verification because analysis selectivity was improved by choice of mother molecule as precursor ion and gave mass spectra.

  • This study attempted to develop the technology by gaseous ozone for decontaminating building affected by a model of biological weapon agent(Bacillus subtilis spores) instead of Bacillus anthracis spore. The use of ozone is attractive method from a practical point of view of decontamination procedure since it has strong oxidation power but no residue after application. We examined the disinfection efficiency of gaseous ozone to Bacillus subtilis spores which suspension was sprayed on different material surfaces and dried. Three different types of gaseous ozone was applied : dry ozone, dry ozone with humidified air, and water bubbled wet ozone. Dry ozone(1500ppm) failed to achieve any significant inactivation for 2hrs. However, six log reduction of B. subtilis spore was achieved within 30min by 1500ppm of water bubbled wet ozone. This result shows the noticeable inactivation efficiency by gaseous ozone compared with previous studies. Good performance by wet ozone was also found for military material surface.(i.e. : gas mask hood, protective garments, army peinted metal surface).

  • U.S. and the allies attacked chemical weapons sites in Syria in 2018, and verbal battles are carried out about the effectiveness of the air strike. Syria claimed 13 missiles were shot down, and Russia claimed 71 missiles were shot down while the U.S. released pictures of completely destroyed targets, only. It led controversy about the effectiveness of missile defense system. If there is a method to observe mission success rate of the air strike, it can not only improve combat awareness but also can be a good sales strategy in military industry. This paper describes effects and considerations of a Weapon Data Link(WDL) technology which can be used as a smoking gun of effectiveness. The paper describes WDL abilities such as In-Flight Track Update, Loiter, and Bomb Hit Indication etc., and presents examples of expected effectiveness of the WDL. In addition, this paper briefly summarizes operational consideration for better performance.

  • In the natural, there exist several kinds of radioactive isotopes. From atmospheric weapon tests and then some isotopes are naturally radioactivity above all things, nuclear power plant operation and man-made radioactive isotopes concern steadily growing in the environment. During the fission process of nuclear weapon tests and nuclear power plant operation, more than 200 radioactive isotopes are generated. Among them, $^{90}Sr$ and $^{137}Cs$ has been regarded as very important isotopes due to characteristics. In this paper, a quantitative analysis method of environment low level $^{90}Sr$ is studied. Radioactivity level of the environmental $^{90}Sr$ is very low, and it emits continuous beta spectrum, and $^{90}Sr$ exists together with $^{89}Sr$, $^{90}Y$ and other radioactive isotopes. It very difficult to make the quantitative analysis of $^{90}Sr$. For the analysis of low level radioactive strontium, enrich and chemical separation of strontium from the other radioactive isotopes are needed. For the estimation of strontium recovery ratio, so called SGAT(Strontium Gravimetric Analysis Technique) was generally used among the domestic research groups, and chemical procedures were developed appropriation for the SGAT, Recently, by using ICP(Inductively Coupled atomic Plasma emission spectrophotometer), amounts of stable atoms can be measured easily and accurately to the extend of ppm or ppb. In this paper, new chemical procedures are developed to exploits the ICP technique. New developed method has simpler chemical treatment procedures and then it gives more accurate results compared with the traditional SGAT.
