  • In the present study, we report 1H and 13C NMR data of 19 methoxyflavonol derivatives with different substitution patterns on A- and B-ring. In addition, the influence of the methoxy substituents in A- and B-ring on the 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts is discussed: the 1H and 13C chemical shifts of and the number of methoxyl groups provided information allowing elimination of many structural isomers from consideration and in certain instances greatly simplified structural elucidation.

  • Complexation of primary alkylammonium ions by 1, 3-distal calix[4]arene diesters was studied by NMR spectroscopy. The guest alkylammonium ions are found to bind mainly to the two ester moieties and are oriented outward with respect to the cone cavity of the host, forming exo-type complexes unlike the case of alkylammonium-calix[6]arene systems. Measurement of T1 also revealed that the primary binding site is the two ester moities and phenolic OH groups. The temperature dependence of the chemical shifts of phenolic OH protons in these diesters correlates with the basicity of the solvent moderately well and the temperature coefficients of their chemical shifts are found to significantly decrease upon complexation with propylammonium ion.

  • Silicate and borosilicate gels were prepared by the sol-gel process and thermally treated in the 150-850 ℃ temperature range. Solid-state 1H MAS and 29Si CP/MAS NMR spectroscopy were used to investigate the effects of heat treatments on the silicate gel to glass conversion process. The 1H NMR isotropic chemical shifts and the relative intensities of hydrogen bonded and isolated silanol groups have been used to access the information concerning the dehydration process on the silicate gel surface. The 29Si NMR isotropic chemical shifts affected by the local silicon environment have been used to determine the degree of crosslinking, i.e. the number of siloxane bonds. These NMR results suggest that the silicate gel to glass conversion process is occurred by two stages which are dependent on the temperature; (1) the formation of particles up to 450 ℃ and (2) the formation of large particles by aggregation of each separated single particle above 450 ℃. In addition, the effects of B atom on the formation of borosiloxane bonds in borosilicates have been discussed.

  • 1H NMR spectra of methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, butyl-, N-methylethyl-, N-methylpropyl-, and N-methylisopropylamine coordinated to the paramagnetic 11-tungstocobalto(II)silicate anion (SiW11Co) in dimethylsulfoxide-d6 or dimethylformamide-d7 are reported. For these complexes the ligand exchange is slow on the NMR time scale and pure 1H NMR signals have been observed at room temperature. No complex is detected in D2O. From the pseudocontact shifts of the CH2 and CH3 groups in ethylamine the energy of the gauche conformers with respect to the anti conformer is estimated. Two diastereotopic protons in the CH2 group of N-methylethylamine have quite different chemical shifts especially at low temperatures (e.g. 48.5 vs. 19.4 ppm at -10℃). This may be attributed mainly to the different positions of the two protons in the most stable (gauche) conformer.

  • Prebiotic isomaltooligosaccharide preparations contain $\alpha$-D-glucooligosaccharides comprising isomaltooligosaccharides (IMOs) and non-prebiotic maltooligosaccharides (MOs). They are both glucose oligosaccharides characterized by their degree of polymerization (DP) value (from 2 to $\sim$10), linkages types and positions (IMOs: $\alpha$-(1$\rightarrow$2, 3, 6 and in a lower proportion internal 1$\rightarrow$4) linkages, MOs: α-(1$\rightarrow$4) linkages). Their structure is the key factor for their prebiotic potential. In order to determine and elucidate the exact structure of unknown IMOs and MOs, unambiguous assignments of $^{13}C$ and $^1H$ chemical shifts of commercial standards, representative of IMOs and MOs diversity, have been determined using optimized standard one and two-dimensional experiments such as $^1H$ NMR, $^{13}C$ NMR, APT and ${^1}H-{^1}H$ COSY, TOCSY, NOESY and <$^1H-{^{13}}C$ heteronuclear HSQC, HSQC-TOCSY, and HMBC. Here we point out the differential effect of substitution by a glucose residue at different positions on chemical shifts of anomeric as well as ring carbons together with the effect of the reducing end configuration for low DP oligosaccharides and diasteroisotopic effect for H-6 protons. From this study, structural $^{13}C$ specific spectral features can be identified as tools for structural analysis of isomaltooligosaccharides.

  • We present the theoretical and experimental results of $^{31}P$ NMR and low energy CID MS/MS study of $Hg^{2+}$ binding to fenitrothion (FN). The calculated $^{31}P$ NMR chemical shifts order for FN with $Hg^{2+}$ complex is in good agreement with experimental $^{31}P$ NMR chemical shifts order. The experimental and theoretical $^{31}P$ NMR study of organophosphorus pesticide with $Hg^{2+}$ gives to important information for organophosphorus pesticide metal complexes. ESI-MS and low energy CID MS/MS experiments of $Hg^{2+}$-FN complexes combined with accurate mass measurements give insight into the metal localization and allow unambiguous identification of fragments and hydrolysis products.

  • The relaxed torsional potential of a liquid crystalline polymer containing an ester functional group in a mesogenic unit (hereafter 12-4 oligomer) has been calculated with the ab initio self-consistent-field using 6-31G$^*$ basis set. GIAO^{13}C NMR chemical shifts also have been calculated at the B3LYP/6-31G$^*$ level of theory for each conformational structure obtained from torsional potential calculation. The results show that the phenyl ring-ester linkages are coplanar with the dihedral angle of about 0$^{\circ}$ and the ring-ring linkages in the biphenyl groups are tilted with the dihedral angle of around 43-44$^{\circ}$ in the lowest energy conformer. The biphenyl ring has a comparatively lower energy barrier of internal rotation potential in the ring-ring than that of phenyl ring-ester. The ^{13}C chemical shifts of carbonyl carbons were found to move to upfield due to $\pi$ -conjugation with phenyl ring and slightly affected about 0.5 ppm by dihedral angle of the ring-ring linkage.
