  • 그래핀(Graphene)은 원자 한 층 두께의 얇은 특성에 기인하여 우수한 투과도(~97.3%)를 나타내며, 높은 전자 이동도($200,000cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$)로 인하여 전기 전도도가 우수한 2차원 전자소재이다. 또한 유연하고 우수한 기계적 물성을 가지고 있어 실제로 다양한 소자에서 활용되고 있다. 그래핀을 이용하여 다양한 소자로 응용하기 위한 과정 중 하나인 포토리소그래피 공정(Photolithography process)은 원하는 패턴을 만들기 위해 제작하고자 하는 기판 위에 포토레지스트(Photoresist)를 코팅하는 과정을 거치게 된다. 하지만 이러한 과정은 소자 제작에 있어서 포토레지스트 잔여물을 남기게 된다. 그래핀 위에 남은 포토레지스트 잔여물은 그래핀의 우수한 전기적 특성을 저하시켜 소자특성에 불이익을 주게 된다. 본 연구에서는 수소 플라즈마를 이용하여 그래핀 위에 남은 중합체(Polymer) 잔여물을 제거한다. 사용한 그래핀은 화학 기상 증착법(Chemical vapor deposition)을 이용하여 성장시켰으며, PMMA(Poly(methyl methacrylate))를 이용하여 이산화규소(silicon dioxide) 기판에 전사하였다. 그래핀의 손상 없이 중합체 잔여물을 제거하기 위해 플라즈마 처리시간을 15초부터 1분까지 늘려가며 연구를 진행하였으며, 플라즈마 처리 시간에 따른 중합체 잔여물의 제거 정도와 그래핀의 보존 여부를 확인하기 위해 라만 분광법(Raman spectroscopy)과 원자간력현미경(Atomic force microscopy)을 사용하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 간단한 플라즈마 처리로 보다 나은 특성의 그래핀 소자를 얻게 됨으로써, 향상된 특성을 가진 그래핀 소자로 산업적 응용 가능성을 높일 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.

미소 인장시험을 통한 다이아몬드상 카본 박막의 안정성 및 접합력 평가 (Stability and Adhesion of Diamond-like Carbon Film under Micro-tensile Test Condition)

  • 미소인장시험을 통해 304 스테인리스 스틸 판재 위에 증착된 DLC 박막의 안정성을 평가하였다. 모재의 소성 변형과 함께 코팅 층의 손상이 발생하기 시작하는데, 작은 규모의 모재 변형 시에는 인장축의 수직방향으로 박막의 균열이 발생하지만, 모재의 슬립변형이 발생하기 시작하면 인장 축과 $45^{\circ}C$의 각도를 갖는 슬립 면을 따라 필름의 박리가 발생하였다. DLC박막의 박리면적으로부터 필름의 접착력을 평가할 수 있었으며, 필름의 합성 전에 실시하는 Ar 플라즈마 스퍼터링 세척시간이 길수록 그리고 세척시 기판에 인가되는 전압이 높을수록 필름의 접착력은 향상되었다. 이러한 변화는 스테인리스 스틸 모재와 Si 접합 층간의 계면특성이 향상되면, 필름의 전체 접착력을 증진시킬 수 있음을 보여주고 있다.

화강암질 석조문화재의 풍화반응경로 특성과 보존에 대한 제언 (Reaction Path Modeling of Granitic Cultural Properties and Its Implication for Preservation)

  • 광물의 용해속도는 기후에 따라 지역적인 차이는 있으나, 일반적으로 화강암을 구성하는 광물중 장석류의 풍화속도가 다른 광물에 비해 비교적 빠르기 때문에 파손 정도는 장석의 안정성에 지배된다. 지구화학적 반응 모델링 결과, 강우에 의해서 화강암이 변질되는데 걸리는 시간은 다른 변수를 고려하지 않고 pH만을 고려한 pH=4.5인 산성수내에서의 변질속도와 비교할 때 일반적인 빗물(pH=5.7)보다 약 2.3배 더 빠른 것으로 계산되었다. 이러한 결과는 화강암질 석조문화재의 보존에 있어서 pH가 중요한 요소로 작용할 수 있음을 의미한다. 석조문화재의 풍화를 억제하기 위해서는 암석의 풍화특성이 우선적으로 규명되어야 하며, 가수분해, 산 반응 등의 화학적 풍화작용은 물과의 접촉에 의해 이루어지므로 물을 차단하기 위하여 발수코팅, 오일코팅 또는 건조환경을 조성하는 방안을 고려해야 할 것이다. 세척제와 생물방제를 이용할 시는 빗물이나 화강암과의 장기적 반응을 고려하여 중성화작용과 환원성 환경이 형성될 수 있는 재질의 선택이 매우 중요하다.

생쪽잎분말의 염색성 및 저장성(II) - 열풍 및 상온건조방법 - (Dyeing Properties and Storage Stability of Leaf Powder Prepared from Dyer's Knotweed(II) - by Hot Air and Room Temperature Drying Methods -)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the efficacy of leaf powder colorants as substitutes for traditional indigo dyeing. Leaf powder colorants were prepared by hot air($50^{\circ}C$) and room temperanrre($25^{\circ}C$) drying methods from fresh leaves. The presence of indigo in the leaf powder colorants was confirmed by UV/Visible absorption spectra. All the powder colorants showed broad absorption at 602 nm as same as synthetic indigo. Dyeing was done by reduction method with sodium hydrosulfite and sodium hydroxide. Leaf powder colorants produced blue color on silk fabrics, showing similar color to the one dyed traditionally with fresh juice extract. The powder colorants prepared at room temperature drying were more stable for long term storage than that prepared by hot air drying. Thus, the powder colorants prepared by room temperature drying was reduced and dyed in one-step process without sodium hydroxide in the dyebath for further investigate dyeing properties. K/S value of the fabric dyed without sodium hydroxide was much higher than one dyed with sodium hydroxide. Regardless of the addition of sodium hydroxide, rubbing fastness was fairly good showing above 4 rating. Fastness to dry cleaning and light of the fabrics dyed without sodium hydroxide were mote higher than that dyed in alkaline condition.

도시고형폐기물 소각시설에서 발생하는 N2O 발생량 조사 및 저감효과에 관한 연구 (Investigation of N2O Emission and Reduction Effect from MSW Incineration Plant)

  • 본 연구에서는 도시고형폐기물 소각시설을 대상으로 3회에 걸쳐 도시고형폐기물을 수거하여 폐기물의 성상 및 물리화학적 조성을 조사하였다. 또한 소각시설에서 배출되는 $N_2O$를 연속적으로 측정하여 발생량을 조사하였으며, IPCC에서 제시한 폐기물의 온실가스 배출량 산정방법으로 산출된 발생량과 비교하였다. 도시고형폐기물 소각시설에서 발생하는 $N_2O$ 발생량은 IPCC 산출방법에 의한 발생량보다 2배 이상 크게 조사되었다. 도시고형폐기물 소각시설에서 $N_2O$ 저감설비가 도입될 경우 온실가스 저감목표를 만족하기 용이하고, 탄소배출권 거래제도를 활용하여 경제적인 효과도 발생할 수 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

다매체 노출을 고려한 Perchloroethylene의 인체위해성평가연구 (Human Risk Assessment of Perchloroethylene Considering Multi-media Exposure)

  • Objectives: Perchloroethylene (PCE) is a volatile chemical widely used as a solvent in the dry-cleaning and textile processing industries. It was evaluated as Group 2 "probably carcinogenic to humans" by the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) of the United State Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) in 2012. In order to provide a scientific basis for establishing risk management measures for chemicals on the national priority substances list, aggregate risk assessment was conducted for PCE, included in the top-10 substances. Methods: We conducted the investigation and monitoring of PCE exposure (e.g., exposure scenario, detection levels, and exposure factors, etc.) and assessed its multi-media (e.g., outdoor air, indoor air, and ground water) exposure risk with a deterministic and probabilistic approach. Results: In human risk assessment (HRA), the level of human exposure was higher in the younger age group. The exposure level through inhalation at home was the highest among the exposure routes. Outdoor air or uptake of drinking water represented less than 1% of total contributions to PCE exposure. These findings suggested that the level of risk was negligible since the Hazard Index (HI) induced by HRA was below one among all age groups, with a maximum HI value of 0.17 when reasonable maximum exposure was applied. Conclusion: In conclusion, it was suggested that despite low exposure risk, further studies are needed considering main sources, including occupational exposure.

소규모 고도 수처리 기술 -가정용 정수시스템 중심으로-

  • The use household water purifier is continuously increasing due to the distrust of the piped, rap water, which may be caused by the deterioration of water quality and water supply facilities in Korea. The water purifier distributing in the domestic market is the membrane type that composes of membrane as a basic filter, sediment filter as a prefilter and activated carbon filter instead of one purifying water system. The membrane type using as a water cleaning system is mainly the method of micro filtration(NIF) as well as ultra filtration(UF) and reverse osmosis(RO). The types of MF and UF are using to remove suspended solids and virus, and RO is using to remove ionic compound in chemical organic compounds. At the beginning the household water purifier was imported as end-product or assembled by only importing module from small businesses in Korea. Therefore, people was hard to confide in the product quality because the sales policy and management of water purifier by small business were not effectively organized. However, the defects of water purifier having up to now ate improving by the efforts of special branches of water purifier and large enterprises, and new great products are developing and producing. To develop the best quality product of water purifier in Korea, it should be considered seasonal water characteristrics rather than any other condition. For example, the water purifier can be affected by the water temperature change, increase of suspended solids in the rainy season and inflow of raw water having concentration in a dry season. The subject we have to investigate in the future is to develop the water purifying system adaptable in Korea which can treat the water quality using close analyses of local and seasonal water characteristics.

PHOTOCATALYTIC ANTIEUNGAL ACTIVITY AGAINST CANDIDA ALBICANS BY $TiO_2$ COATED ACRYLIC RESIN DENTURE BASE

  • Statement of problem. Proliferation of Candida albicans is primarily within the plaque on the fitting surface of the denture rather than on the inflamed mucosa. Consequently, the treatment of the denture is equally important as treatment of the tissue. Cleansing and disinfection should be efficiently carried-out as the organisms can penetrate into the voids of the acrylic resin and grow in them, from which they can continue to infect and reinfect bearing tissues. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the applicability of photocatalytic reaction to eliminate Candida albicans from acrylic resin denture base, and to investigate the anti-fungal effect with various UVA illumination time. Materials and Methods. The specimens were cured by the conventional method following the manufacturer's instruction using thermal polymerized denture base resin (Vertex RS: Dentimex, Netherlands). $TiO_2$ photocatalyst sol(LT), which is able to be coated at normal temperature, was made from the Ti-alkoxide progenitor. The XRD patterns, TEM images and nitrogen absorption ability of the $TiO_2$ photocatalyst sol(LT) were compared with the commercial $TiO_2$ photocatalyst P-25. The experimental specimens were coated with the mixture of the $TiO_2$ photocatalyst sol(LT) and binder material (silane) using dip-coater, and uncoated resin plates were used as the control group. Crystallinity of $TiO_2$ of the specimen was tested by the XRD. Size, shape and chemical compositions were also analyzed using the FE-SEM/ EDS. The angle and methylene blue degradation efsciency were measured for evaluating the photocatalytic activity of the $TiO_2$ film. Finally, the antifungal activity of the specimen was tested. Candida albicans KCTC 7629(1 ml, initial concentration $10^5$ cells/ ml) were applied to the experiment and control group specimens and subsequently two UVA light source with 10W, 353 nm peak emission were illuminated to the specimens from 15cm above. The extracted $2{\mu}l$ of sample was plated on nutrient agar plate ($Bacto^{TM}$ Brain Heart Infusion; BD, USA) with 10 minute intervals for 120 minute, respectively. It was incubated for 24 hours at $37^{\circ}C$ and the colony forming units (CFUs) were then counted. Results. Compared the characteristics of LT photocatalyst with commercial P-25 photocatalyst, LT were shown higher activity than P-25. The LT coated experimental specimen surface had anatase crystal form, less than 20 nm of particle size and wide specific surface area. To evaluate the photocatalytic activity of specimens, methylene blue degradation reaction were used and about 5% of degradation rate were measured after 2 hours. The average contact angle was less than $20^{\circ}$ indicating that the LT photocatalyst had hydrophilicity. In the antifungal activity test for Candida albicans, 0% survival rate were measured within 30 minute after irradiation of UVA light. Conclusion. From the results reported above, it is concluded that the UVA-LT photocatalytic reaction have an antifungal effect on the denture surface Candida albicans, and so that could be applicable to the clinical use as a cleaning method.

Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 철제 표면 옻칠 제거 실험 연구 (Experimental Study for Removing Lacquer Layer on Iron Surface by Nd:YAG Laser System)

  • 철불의 개금 시 표면에 남아 있는 옻칠 제거 방법에는 물리적인 방법과 화학적인 방법을 사용하고 있으나, 표면 손상 및 약품 사용으로 인한 환경오염, 보존과학자의 건강에도 매우 유해하다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 비접촉식이고 친환경적인 Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용하여 옻칠 제거 실험을 실시하였다. 시편은 크기가 $5{\times}5cm$인 철제(Fe 99.9%)시편 표면을 균일하게 연마한 후 생칠을 도포 횟수를 달리하여 각각 $10{\mu}m$, $20{\mu}m$, $30{\mu}m$의 두께 차이로 제작하였다. 본 실험에서 사용된 레이저기기는 Nd:YAG 레이저로, 적외선 영역의 1064 nm(160~800 mJ)와 가시광선 영역인 532nm(50~350 mJ)의 두 가지 파장 모드를 이용하였다. 실험은 레이저 파장 에너지 조사 횟수 등에 따른 시편 표면의 변화를 조사하였다. 레이저 조사 전 후 표면을 실체현미경과 SEM 관찰, 비접촉 표면 조도 측정기, FT-IR 등을 이용하여 옻칠의 제거 및 잔류 여부를 알아보았다. 분석 결과 1064 nm 파장을 이용하여 $1.0J/cm^2$ 밀도에서 표면 손상 없이 $10{\mu}m$, $20{\mu}m$ 두께의 옻칠이 제거됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 철불 개금 시 잔류하고 있는 옻칠 제거 방법으로 Nd:YAG 레이저가 효율적임을 본 실험을 통해 알 수 있었다. 향후 금속뿐만 아니라 목칠 가구 등 다양한 재질의 연구가 이루어지면 표면 손상 없이 옻칠을 제거 하는데 효과적으로 활용 가능할 것으로 본다.

국내 의료기관의 소독과 멸균 관리 실태 (Actual Disinfection and Sterilization Control in Korean Healthcare Facilities)

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate the status of disinfection and sterilization in healthcare facilities. Method: A survey of 193 Korean healthcare facilities was conducted from February 8 to March 7, 2013. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe with SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: Of the healthcare facilities 93.2% had specific guidelines for disinfection/sterilization, but only 47.9% had a committee on disinfection/sterilization for decision-making, less than half (42.7%) conducted regular monitoring of actual practices, while 83.9% had established procedures for recovery in case of problems with the disinfection process and 89.0% kept records and archives of disinfection practices. Cleaning process, selection of chemical disinfectants and process of disinfection and sterilization were found to be inadequate in some healthcare facilities. Perception score for adequacy of medical instruments was 8.10, environmental disinfection was 7.20, and sterilizer management was 8.45 out of a possible 10. Conclusion: Compared to larger institutions, smaller healthcare facilities had less effective disinfection and sterilization management systems, while some facilities showed inadequate practices for medical equipment and general sterilization. Better academic and state-level support is recommended for smaller facilities in order to establish a better system-wide management system.
