There is great interest in the applicability of generated hydrogen peroxide to a variety of industrial processes, usually involving oxidation of organics. Hydrogen peroxide is now employed for the bleaching as well as mechanical and chemical treatment in the pulp and paper industries. It addition, it is considered as an agent to displace the traditional alkaline treatments with chlorine-based chemicals. This paper reports a comparative study of $H_2O_2$ electogeneration on gas-diffusion electrode in divided cell with several $Nafion^{(R)}$ proton-exchange membranes, Russian cation-exchange membrane MK-40 and SPEEK membrane. The influence of different PEMs on electro-chemical cell voltage, current efficiency and energy consumption of hydrogen peroxide generation has been studied.

A series of activated carbons (ACs) were derived from sugarcane bagasse under two activation schemes: steam-pyrolysis at $600-800^{\circ}C$ and chemical activation with $H_3PO_4$ at $500^{\circ}C$. Some carbons were treated at 400, $600^{\circ}C$, or for 1-3 h, and/or in flowing air during pyrolysis of acid-impregnated mass. XRD profiles displayed two broad diffuse bands centered around $2{\theta}=23$ and $43^{\circ}$, currently associated with diffraction from the 002 and 100/101 set of planes in graphite, respectively. These correspond to the interlayer spacing, Lc, and microcrystallite lateral dimensions, La, of the turbostratic (fully disordered) graphene layers. Steam pyrolysis-activated carbons exhibit only the two mentioned broad bands with enhancement in number of layers, with temperature, and small decrease in microcrystallite diameter, La. XRD patterns of $H_3PO_4$-ACs display more developed and separated peaks in the early region with maxima at $2{\theta}=23$, 26 and $29^{\circ}$, possibly ascribed to fragmented microcrystallites (or partially organized structures). Diffraction within the $2{\theta}=43^{\circ}$ is still broad although depressed and diffuse, suggesting that the intragraphitic layers are less developed. Varying the conditions of chemical activation inflicts insignificant structural alterations. Circulating air during pyrolysis leads to enhancement of the basic graphitic structure with destruction and degradation in the lateral dimensions.
The authors describe an analytical method to determine total chlorine in a sanitizer liquid, incorporating a lab-made He-rf-plasma within a PDMS polymer microchip. Helium was used instead of Ar to produce a plasma to achieve efficient Cl excitation. A quartz tube 1 mm i.d. was embedded in the central channel of the polymer microchip to protect it from damage. Rotational temperature of the He-microchip plasma was in the range 1350-3600 K, as estimated from the spectrum of the OH radical. Chlorine was generated in a volatilization reaction vessel containing potassium permanganate in combination of sulfuric acid and then introduced into the polymer microchip plasma (PMP). Atomic emission lines of Cl at 438.2 nm and 837.7 nm were used for analysis; no emission was observed for Ar plasma. The achieved limit of detection was 0.81 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ (rf powers of 30-70 W), which was sensitive enough to analyze sanitizers that typically contained 100-200 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$ of free chlorine in chlorinated water. This study demonstrates the usefulness of the devised PMP system in the food sciences and related industries.

Green Chemistry emerged at the end of 20th century, which aims the development of the technologies for the sustainable society at the molecular level. Most products we consume in everyday life are produced through chemical processes, and we often oversee the fact that huge amount of solvents are used and disposed. At the present time most solvents used in laboratories as well as industries are volatile organic compounds(VOC), which gives health and environmental problems. Therefore scientists are seeking new materials which have equivalent properties of VOCs as solvent, and at the same time gives no health and environmental problems. In this brief review, the author describes the present status of research and development activities of green solvent materials throughout research societies worldwide. At present the most attractive green solvent candidates are water, glycerol, supercritical carbon dioxide and ionic liquids. In order to give the pictures of these materials, the author tried to introduce the overall aspects of green solvents in various chemical reaction as well as catalytic roles.
Powdered marble wastes (PMW) generated by Utique marble cutting industries (North of Tunisia) with abundant amounts were used in this study as low-cost materials to investigate the stabilization of heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Fe) in sludge generated from a local Zn-Electroplating factory. Powdered marble wastes were evaluated by means of chemical fractions of heavy metals in sludge and concentrations of heavy metals in leachate from columns to determine their ability to stabilize heavy metals in contaminated sludge. Results indicated that chemical fractions of heavy metals in sludge were affected by application of the PMW mineral materials and pH, however, the effects varied with heavy metals. Application of the powdered marble wastes mineral materials reduced exchangeable metals in the sequence of Pb (60.5%)>Fe (40.5%)>Zn (30.1%). X-ray diffraction and hydro-geochemical transport code PHREEQC analysis were successfully carried out to get a better understanding of the mechanisms of reactive mineral phases involved in reduced exchangeable heavy metals in sludge after PMW material amendments. Therefore, metal immobilization using powdered marble wastes materials is an effective stabilization technique for industrial metallic hydroxide sludge.

A solvent sublation has been studied for the determination of trace Au(III), Pt(IV) and Pd(II) in waste water with their complexes of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT). Experimental conditions such as the concentration of HCl, the amount of MBT as a ligand, the type and amount of surfactants, bubbling rate and time, and the type of organic solvent were optimized for the solvent sublation, i.e., 25.0 mL of 2.0 M HCl solution and 30mL of 0.4%(w/v) MBT ethanolic solution were added to a 1.0 L sample to form stable complexes. The addition of 4.0 mL of 1 ${\times}$$10^{-3}$ M CTAB (cetyltrimehtylammonium bromide) solution was needed for the effective flotation accomplished by bubbling nitrogen gas at the rate of 40.0 mL/min for 35 minutes. As a solvent, 20.0 mL of MIBK (methylisobuthylketone) was used to extract the floated complexes. The procedure was applied to three kinds of waste waters. Au(III) was determined as 0.68 ng/mL and 0.98 ng/mL respectively for final washed water of two plating industries in Banwol. Pd(II) and Pt(IV) were not detected in any of the three samples. The recovery, which was obtained with analyte-spiked samples, were 95-120%.
As the consumer market in the mold, automation and aerospace industries grows, the demand for chemical machining using on electrochemical polishing increases. To enhance the surface roughness and gloss of the micro-needle, we have studied for an electrochemical polishing. Electrochemical polishing requires the chemical reaction of solution and material according to the electrolyte and electrode. In this study, sulfuric acid(30%), phosphoric acid(50%), and DI-water(20%)were used as the electrolytic solution, and the electrolytic solution temperature used $58^{\circ}C$. Electrochemical polishing was carried out in experimental conditions, and the micro-needle experiment was carried out from the basic experiment to obtain the experimental conditions. Experimental results show that as the voltage and current increase, the surface roughness improved and the gloss is improved. So, the best result for this experiment was obtained in condition 6, which improved micro-needle.
Among the Covid-19 vaccine platforms, mRNA-platform vaccines are summarized qualitatively in this paper. Manufacturing mRNA vaccines consist of serial processes; the preparation process of DNA template, the transcription of mRNA, nanoemulsion process, and the fill and finish unit combined with formulation stages. It is noticeable that major players are collaborated for producing mRNA vaccines. In particular, the nanoemulsion process is recognized to the key process requiring formulated lipid materials to protect modified mRNA until they arrive in intracellular cytosol. It is known that the nanoemulsion process adapts well-designed microfluidic devices. We expect that the nanoemulsion process will stimulate pharmaceutical industries to develop diverse applications.
Fast-paced industrial and agricultural development generates large quantities of hazardous heavy metals (HMs), which are extremely damaging to individuals and the environment. Research in both academia and industry has been spurred by the need for HMs to be removed from water bodies. Advanced materials are being developed to replace existing water purification technologies or to introduce cutting-edge solutions that solve challenges such as cost efficacy, easy production, diverse metal removal, and regenerability. Water treatment industries are increasingly interested in activated carbon because of its high adsorption capacity for HMs adsorption. Furthermore, because of its huge surface area, abundant functional groups on surface, and optimal pore diameter, the modified activated carbon has the potential to be used as an efficient adsorbent. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a novel organic-inorganic hybrid porous materials, sparked an interest in the elimination of HMs via adsorption. This is due to the their highly porous nature, large surface area, abundance of exposed adsorptive sites, and post-synthetic modification (PSM) ability. This review introduces PSM methods for MOFs, chemical modification of activated carbons (ACs), and current advancements in the elimination of Pb2+, Hg2+, and Cd2+ ions from water using modified MOFs and ACs via adsorption.
The significance of gas sensors has been emphasized in various industries and applications, owing to the growing significance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management in corporate operations. In particular, the monitoring of hazardous gas leakages and detection of fugitive emissions have recently garnered significant attention across several industrial sectors. As industrial workplaces evolve to ensure the safety of their working environments and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the demand for high-performance gas sensors in industrial sectors dealing with toxic substances is on the rise. However, conventional gas-sensing systems have limitations in monitoring fugitive gas leakages at both critical and subcritical concentrations in complex environments. To overcome these difficulties, recent studies in the field of gas sensors have employed techniques such as mobile robotic olfaction, remote optical sensing, chemical grid sensing, and remote acoustic sensing. This review highlights the significant progress made in various technologies that have enabled accurate and real-time mapping of gas distribution and localization of hazardous gas sources. These recent advancements in gas-sensing technology have shed light on the future role of gas-detection systems in industrial safety.
