Synthesis and Application of the Novel Azomethine Metal Complexes for the Organic Electroluminescent Devices

  • New azomethine metal complexes were synthesized systematically and characterized. Beryllium, magnesium, or zinc ions were used as a central metal cation and aromatic azomethines (L1-L4) were employed as a chelating anionic ligand. Emission peaks o f the complexes in both solution and solid states were observed mostly at the region of 400-500 nm in the luminescence spectra, where blue light was emitted. Three of them (BeL1 (Ⅰ), ZnL2 (Ⅱ), and ZnL3 (Ⅲ)) were sublimable and thus were applied to the organic light-emitting devices (OLED) as an emitting layer, respectively. The device including the emitting layer of Ⅰ exhibited white emission with the broad luminescence spectral range. The device with the emitting layer of Ⅱ showed blue luminescence with the maximum emission peak at 460 nm. Their ionization potentials, electron affinities, and electrochemical band gaps were investigated with cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical gaps of 2.98 for I, 2.70 for Ⅱ, and 2.63 eV for Ⅲ were found to be consistent with their respective optical band gaps of 3.01, 2.95 and 2.61 eV within an experimental error. The structure of OLED manufactured in this study reveals that these complexes can work as electron transporting materials as well.

결명자 색소 추출액에 의한 견직물 염색 -매염 및 염착 mechanism을 중심으로- (Dyeing of Silk Fabric with Aqueous Extract of Cassia tora L. Seed - focusing on the mordanting and dyeing mechanisms -)

  • Silk fabrics mordanted with $Fe^{2+},\;Ni^{2+},\;and\;Cu^{2+}$ were dyed with the aqueous extract of Cassia tora L. seed which was known to include water soluble colorant kaempferol, one of flavonol compounds. Kaempferol can react with free radicals and chelate transition metal ions, which is thought to catalyze processes leading to the appearance of free radicals and have antioxidant activity. In relation to the coordinating and chelating mechanism of the ions with the silk protein and kaempferol, reasonable conclusions should be made on the colorant uptake and the water fastness of the fabric. The amount of the colorant on the fabric was in the order of $Fe^{2+}>Ni^{2+}>Cu^{2+}$. In case of dyeing through coordinaiton bonds between transition metal ions and silk protein and colorants, it was thought that the ions with the smaller secondary hydration shell, the higher preference to the atoms of the ligand coordinated, and the suitable bonding stability for the substitution of primarily hydrated water molecules for colorants led to the higher colorant uptake. The water fastnsess of the fabric was in the order of $Fe^{2+}>Cu^{2+}>Ni^{2+}$. It should be reasonable to choose transition metal ions with weak and strong tendency to the ionic and the coordination bond, respectively, to the carboxylate anion of the silk protein. Although further research needs to be done, the conclusions above may be generally applied to the natural dyeing through the coordination bond mechanism between transition metal ions and colorants and substrates.

폴리아민류를 작용기로 하는 킬레이트수지의 합성 및 분석적 응용 (Synthesis and Analytical Application of Chelating Resins Containing Polyamines)

  • 폴리아민 리간드인 diethylenetriamine(dien), triethylenetetramine(trien), tetraethylenepentamine(tetren), 및 pentaethylenehexamine(penten)을 Chloromethylated Polystyrene $({\circledP}-) 수지에 반응시켜 각기 {\circledP}_L-Dien, {\circledP}_L-Trien, {\circledP}_L-Tetren 및 {\circledP}_L-Penten 수지를 합성한 후 Bjerrum법으로 pH를 측정하여 산해리상수 및 금속과의 안정도상수를 결정하였으며, Van't Hoff 식에 의해 {\Delta}H와 {\Delta}G도 구하였다. 이들 수지의 안정도상수(log k1)는 금속이온의 종류에 따라 Cu(Ⅱ) > Ni(Ⅱ) > Cd(Ⅱ) > Zn(Ⅱ) > Co(Ⅱ)의 순으로 감소하였으며, 수지중 주게 원자인 질소수가 증가함에 따라 {\circledP}_L-Dien < {\circledP}_L-Trien < {\circledP}_L-Tetren < {\circledP}_L-Penten의 순으로 증가하였다. 그리고 pH 변화에 대한 금속이온의 흡착량 및 분리도를 시험해 본 결과 이들 금속이온과의 안정도 상수값의 순서와 일치하였다.

  • (+)(18crown6)-tetracarboxylic acid ($18C6H_4$)를 퀴놀린계 항생제인 gemifloxacin을 모세관 전기영동법으로 키랄 분리하였다. Body fluid에서 퀴놀린계 항생제인 gemifloxacin의 직접적인 분석은 빠른 분석 시간, 다성분 분석등의 여러 가지 장점을 가진다. 그러나 Body fluid내의 높은 농도의 나트륨 이온은 $18C6H_4$와 강한 전하 상호작용으로 인하여 gemifoxacin과 $18C6H_4$의 상호작용을 방해한다. 키랄 선택제와 나트륨 이온 사이의 상호 작용을 줄이기 위해 완충 용액에 킬레이트 리간드 EDTA를 첨가하였다. 시료 용액에 150mM의 나트륨 이온이 존재 할 때에도 분리 효율의 향상과 이동 시간의 감소를 관찰 할 수 이었다.

주산기 랫드 모체에서 Insulin-like Growth Factor System의 변동 (Changes of the Maternal Insulin-like Growth Factors System in Pregnant Rats During Perinatal Periods)

  • Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and their binding proteins (IGFBPs) are important regulators on the development of maternal tissues during pregnancy. This study was performed to examine the relationship between maternal IGFs/IGFBPs system (i.e: IGF-I, II, their receptors, and IGFBPs) in pre- and post-partum rats. The liver and kidney are important organs for the synthesis of IGFs and IGFBPs in adults. The levels of materanal IGFs and IGFBPs in serum, liver, and kidney were examined at 14 and 21 days of gestation and at 3, 7, 11, and 14 days after birth. The expression of IGFs and their receptors mRNA was also examined in fetal and maternal rat liver, kidney. IGF-I concentrations in maternal serum and liver were decreased during pregnancy. However, IGF-I concentration in maternal kidney was increased, having maximal effect at 14 days of gestation. IGF-I concentrations were decreased in serum, liver, and kidney of postpartum rat, compared to control (p < 0.05). On the other hand, IGF-II concentrations in serum, liver, and kidney were increased during pregnancy (p<0.05) and gradually decreased to control level in postpartum period. The levels of IGFBP-3 and IGFBP-2 are expressed in serum, liver, and kidney. However, IGFBP-3 is mainly expressed in serum and liver, and IGFBP-2 in kidney. The levels of IGFBP-3 and IGFBP-2 in maternal serum were markedly decreased during pregnancy and gradually recovered to control level during postpartum period by western ligand blotting. However, there was no change of IGFBP-3 and IGFBP-2 levels by western immunoblotting. The levels of IGFBP-3 and IGFBP-2 in maternal liver and kidney also showed the same pattern of serum, although the main IGFBP is different. In normal rat serum, IGF-I 150 kDa and 50 kDa carrier proteins were detected. The level of IGF-I 150 kDa carrier proteins in pregnant rat was decreased compared to normal rat, but that of 50 kDa carrier proteins was increased. IGFBP-3 protease activity was identified in pregnant rat serum and maternal placenta, and it was inhibited by EDTA ($Ca^{2+}$ chelating agent) and aprotinin (serine proteinase inhibitor). Taken together, these results suggest that the changes of IGFs and IGFBPs in maternal rats are regulated by liver and kidney IGFs and their receptors mRNA during the pregnancy.

Salen[N,N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine]을 이용한 해수 중 극미량 니켈의 용매추출 (Solvent Extraction of Trace Amount of Ni(II) in Sea Water by using Salen[N,N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine])

  • Salen[N,N'-bis (salicylidene)ethylenediamine]을 리간드로 사용하여 해수에 존재하는 극미량의 Ni(II)을 클로로포름 용매로 추출하는 방법에 관하여 연구하였다. Ethylenediamine과 salicylaldehyde를 사용하여 축합반응에 의해 salen을 합성하였다. Salen과 Ni(II)은 수용액에서 1 : 1 착물을 형성한다는 사실을 확인 할 수 있었으며 추출과정의 추출상수는 $10^{5.12}$ 이었다. 해수 중 Ni(II)의 분석과정을 최적화하기 위해 실제 해수와 조성이 비슷한 인공해수를 실험실에서 만들어 수용액의 pH, 리간드로 사용한 salen의 양, 추출시간, 역추출을 위한 산의 종류와 농도, 방해이온의 영향 등에 대해서 조사하였다. 그 결과 수용액의 pH가 8 이상인 약한 염기성 영역에서 10분 정도 흔들어주면 정량적으로 극미량의 Ni(II)이 용매로 추출되었다. 수용액에서 salen의 농도가 $1.2{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$ 이상이면 정량적인 추출이 가능하였는데, 이는 몰 비로 Ni(II)의 180배에 해당하는 양이었다. 이상의 최적화된 실험조건을 바탕으로 한국 인근해안의 해수를 채취하여 분석한 결과 모두 검출한계 이하의 값을 나타내었으며, 40 ng/mL의 Ni(II)을 첨가하여 구한 회수율은 평균 98% 이었으며, 검출한계는 1.3 ng/mL 이었다. 이와 같은 결과로부터 salen형태의 Schiff-염기가 극미량 금속원소의 정량에 킬레이트 시약으로 응용될 수 있음을 알았다.
