Implementation on SVM based Step Detection Analyzer (SVM 기반의 걸음 검출 분석기의 구현)

  • In this study, we designed and implemented a step detection analyzer that can compare and analyze the step detection rates and results among the step detection algorithms. The step detection analyzer converts 3-axes accelerometer data into continuous energy stream through SVM operation, shows the horizontal comparison among the step detection results for each step detection algorithms, and can make elemental detection analyses. For these processes, the step detection analyzer presents the continuous energy stream as energy waveform, checks the peak values and time location of the detected steps with step detection algorithms, and gives visual interface to get some possible causes in cases of step detection miss. It can also give the threshold graph for each algorithm to check the threshold value on missed cases directly and can help to get more appropriate threshold values or other adjustable parameters in step detection algorithm. This step detection analyzer can be applied efficiently on performance enhancement of step detection algorithm, on deciding an appropriate algorithm for a specific step counter system in the various step counter filed operations.

The Research of Process High Alarm Priority Analysis for Efficient Emergency Response (효율적인 비상대응을 위한 Process High Alarm의 Priority 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to check the priority control status of the current operation process alarm by comparing the priority of the alarm set up in PV high trip point, which is being installed and operated in the domestic petrochemical industry, with the criteria presented in ISA 18.2 International Standard or EEMUA 191 Guidelines. In the event of a process problem, excessively set high alarm is provided to the driver in a short period of time, making it difficult to identify the alarm that needs to be handled first. As a result, it is likely that the operator will not be able to carry out appropriate actions within the specified time frame, and many cases have been reported leading to unexpected process shutdowns or process accidents. Therefore, this study aims to introduce international standards related to alarm management and identify the level of alarm control used at the domestic petrochemical industry site to inform potential risks that may occur in the petrochemical process of the national industrial complex in the future and suggest ways to reduce risk factors.   • Most of the present potential transformers of train vehicles are of the oil-type filled with insulating oil and are susceptible to problems such as explosion due to the increase in the internal pressure during train operation and poor reliability near the end of their life cycle. As a solution to this problem, it is necessary to develop a molded dry-type potential transformer with excellent pressure-resistance performance using insulating resin. In order to localize the product, the Korea Railroad Research Institute has been developing a molded dry-type potential transformer. As part of this research, it is necessary to analyze the vibration characteristics of the developed product and to check the transformer performance in a vibration environment. In this study, a resonance test and simulated long-term life test of the developed product were conducted according to the KS R 9144 and IEC 61373 standards, respectively, which are vibration test methods for railway vehicle parts. Their natural frequencies were analyzed by comparing the results of the numerical modal analysis and resonance test, in order to confirm their adherence to the standards. Also, the performance test after the simulated long-term life test confirmed that the operation of the developed transformer was not problematic even in a long-time vibration environment.

  • ‘Defined legally as a violation of law' (Sutherland, E. H. Principles of Criminology, Lippincott, Chicago, 1939) Crime within the group is essentially and primarily antisocial in that the criminal who is welfare of his group acts instead against it and breaks the principles of social solidarity not merely by not doing what these principles prescribe, but by doing something exactly opposites. Any program set up to attack crime and delinquent behavior at their sources. A program of his nature needs the constant and comprehensive collaboration of psychiatrists, social works, educations, lawmakers, and public officials, since crime is a social problem and it should be treated as such. Some crime preventives which should be mentioned are as follows, (1) The insurance that every child will be decently born and that his home life be socially and economically adequate; without socially mature parents the chid is handicapped at the start; thus parental education, integrated with the public school system, should be developed now. (2) A more meaningful educational program which would emphasize ideals of citizenship, moral integrity, and respect for the law and the police. (3) A periodic check made for potential delinquents throughout the public schools and treatment provided if possible; and if not, proper segregation in institutions. (4) Careful attention paid to press, movies, and radio so that crime may no longer appear to be glamorous. This can be done by women's clubs, civic bodies, and other educational groups exerting pressure on the movie syndicates and broadcasting companies to free their productions of the tawdry and lurid characteristics of crime and criminals.   • Rapid aging of the population affects population structure and population aging. Consequently, developed countries have focused on population aging as a major issue in regards to pension sustainability finances as well as health and the elderly welfare system. Mortality projections that result from population structure changes and population aging are increasingly important. This paper compares six mortality models using KOSTAT's life table from 1970 to 2016. The models are rooted in the Lee-Carter (LC) model (Lee and Carter, Journal of the American Statistical Association, 87, 659-671, 1992) and have been modified and improved on the assumptions of the LC model. We examined the improvement process and the check assumption by models in order to find a suitable mortality model for Korea. Korea shows rapid aging and declined mortality rate by age; therefore, it is desirable to estimate and predict mortality from LL&LC-ER models by combining LC-ER, LL, and LC-ER models that reflect the phenomena and modify age-specific mortality patterns without major changes in expected life expectancy.

Anti-aging and Anti-oxidative Effect of Gongjinhugwon-dan in Early Stages of Aging Rats (공진흑원단(拱辰黑元丹)이 초기노화(初期老化) 흰 쥐의 항노화(抗老化) 및 항산화(抗酸化)에 미치는 영향)

  • 1. Objectives Purpose of this study is to prove anti-aging and anti-oxidative effects of Gongjinhugwon-dan decoction. 2. Methods The SD rats used in this experiment were 6, 18, and 36 weeks old. Each age group was again divided into three groups. These nine groups consisted of 8 rats each. One group was given no treatment, another group was dosed $200{\mu}l$ of normal saline daily, and the last group was dosed $200{\mu}l$ of 1 % Gongjinhugwon-dan and saline mixture. At the conclusion of the experiment, the age groups were relabelled accordingly (10 weeks, 22 weeks, and 40 weeks). After 4 weeks, change of weight and liver markers were measured. Serum LDL cholesterol, total bilirubin, albumin, glucose, GOT and GPT levels were observed in order to check the hematological modification. Also, each organ tissue was biopsied in order to measure the SOD activity and the glutathione content change. 3. Results & Conclusions Aging did not cause any significant change in GOT and LDH, but GPT and albumin levels showed increase after GHD intake. Serum GPT was lower in the experimental group. Serum total bilirubin of the 40 w GHD group was significantly increased. The populations of dendritic cells in the spleens of the GHD groups were significantly increased. The levels of GSH in the liver of the 40 w GHD group and in the kidney of 22w-GSD were significantly increased in comparison with those of the normal groups. The degenerative change of brain tissue was decreased in the 40 w GHD group compared with those of the 40w normal group and the 40 w saline group. These results suggest that anti-oxidative GSH concentration of liver and kidney in rats treated with GHD showed significant increase in the 40 w GHD group. GHD was effective on increasing anti-oxidative substance in liver and dendritic cells in spleen, thus helping immune system and preventing cell mutation and degenerative change of brain tissues. Further studies and clinical investigation with GHD is needed.

Determination of Air-dry Density of Wood with Polychromatic X-ray and Digital Detector

  • Gravimetric method is usually used to evaluate air-dry density, which is governing physical or mechanical properties of wood. Although it had high evaluation accuracy, the method is time consuming process. Thus, this study was conducted to estimate air-dry density of wood with high accuracy by using polychromatic X-ray and digital detector as alternative of gravimetric method. To quantify polychromatic X-ray projection for evaluating air-dry density, Lambert-Beer's law with the integral value of probability function was used. The integral value was used as weighting factor in the law, and it was determined by conducting simple test at various penetration depths and tube voltage. Mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) of wood also calculated by investigating polychromatic X-ray projection according to species, penetration depth and tube voltage. The species had not an effect on change of MAC. Finally, an air-dry density of wood was estimated by applying the integral value, MAC and Lambert-Beer's law to polychromatic X-ray projection. As an example, the relation of the integral value (${\alpha}$) according to penetration depth (t, cm) at tube voltage of 35 kV was ${\alpha}=-0.00091t{\times}0.0184$ while the regression of the MAC (${\mu}$, $cm^2/g$) was ${\mu}=0.5414{\exp}(-0.0734t)$. When calculation of root mean squared error (RMSE) was performed to check the estimation accuracy, RMSE at 35, 45 and 55 kV was 0.010, 0.013 and $0.009g/cm^3$, respectively. However, partial RMSE in relation to air-dry density was varied according to tube voltage. The partial RMSE below air-dry density of $0.41g/cm^3$ was $0.008g/cm^3$ when tube voltage of 35 kV was used. Meanwhile, the partial RMSE above air-dry density of $0.41g/cm^3$ decreased as tube voltage increased. It was conclude that the accuracy of estimation with polychromatic X-ray and digital detector was quite high if the integral value and MAC of wood were determined precisely or a condition of examination was chosen properly. It was seemed that the estimation of air-dry density by using polychromatic X-ray system can supplant the gravimetric method.

Analysis of Real Ship Operation Data using a Smart Ship Platform (스마트선박 플랫폼을 활용한 실운항 데이터 분석 연구)

  • An essential part of the development of an autonomous ship is supporting technology that can effectively check and diagnose the operational status of the ship form the shore control center on land. This development has recently occurred in the shipbuilding and shipping industries. In this paper, we present a smart ship solution that operates, as a single system, a data collection platform that gathers ship operation data and a service platform that provides various services. When this smart ship solution was applied to an operating ship, it was determined that a variety of high-quality data could be collected compared to existing ship data collection systems. In addition, it was shown that of the operation data collected, analysis of parameters related to the main engine can be used to determine the overall state by deriving valid results and visualizing patterns. In conclusion, it was suggested that a ship's operation status could be checked more effectively and a comprehensive evaluation could be possible at the shore control center if the results of this study were extended to various ship equipment and analyzed together with the operational environment data.

An Application of Construction Sequence Analysis for Checking Structural Stability of High-Rise Building under Construction (초고층 건물의 시공 중 구조적 안정성 검토를 위한 시공단계해석의 적용)

  • With recent trends of super-tallness, atypical plan shapes and zoning constructions in high-rise buildings, a structural stability of the building under construction is arising as a key issue for design and construction plan. To ensure the structural stability under construction, the differential column shortening of vertical members, the lateral displacement of tower frames, and differential settlement of raft foundation by unbalanced distributions of a tower self-weight before the completion of a lateral load resisting system should be checked by construction sequence analysis, which should be performed by systematic combinations with structural health monitoring, construction compensation program, and construction panning. This paper presents the scheme of zone-based construction sequence analysis by using the existing commercial analysis program, to check the stability of high-rise building under construction. This scheme is applied to 3-dimensional structural analysis for a real high-rise building under construction. The analysis includes real construction zoning plans and schedules as well as creep and shrinkage effects and time-dependent properties of concrete. The simplified construction sequence and assumed material properties were continuously updated with the change on construction schedule and correlations with in-situ measurement data.

  • The high-speed railway consists of tracks, gravel ballast and subgrade, and the dynamic load is passed to subgrade through track and gravel ballast. The relaxation condition of the gravel ballast is able to be evaluate relatively and to be repaired through a continuous management, but it is difficult to evaluate the condition of subgrade, which is final part of supporting dynamic load and to repair it when made a problem. The gravel ballast and subgrade are evaluated by determining shear wave velocity. To evaluate ballast and subgrade, a good method to determine shear wave velocity is a non-destructive experiment such as surface wave tests providing a prompt experiment because an experiment in railway has a lot of tests which are carried out following railway directions and needs to prevent damage of the system. In general, a railway has limitation of an experimental space by narrow width, sleeper and etc., and background noise by a reflector exists. The existing surface wave tests need a minimum space, and it is difficult to get a reliable test results on account of background noise effect. Therefore, it is difficult or impossible to apply to existing surface wave test of subgrade and ballast. In this study, the HWAW method is applied to determine a shear wave velocity profile of the underground. The HWAW method is the experiment which is able to be carried out on a narrow space, and it determines share wave velocity of a site by measuring the wave from surface sources on the same spot. In addition, it removes effects of background noise accordingly to a signal processing using harmonic wavelet transforms, so it is useful to evaluate subgrade of a high-speed railway in the narrow space and the situation of background noise. In order to check an application of the HWAW method, an experiment is carried out on a high-speed railway field and a test result is compared to boring results.
