정전류/정출력 고속충전 방식에 따른 리튬이온전지의 열화 비교 연구 (Effect of Fast Charging Mode on the Degradation of Lithium-Ion Battery: Constant Current vs. Constant Power)

  • 전기자동차의 보급이 확대됨에 따라, 소비자의 고속충전에 요구가 높아지고 있으나 관련 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2/Graphite 18650 실린더형 리튬이온전지를 이용하여, 정전류와 정출력 충전방식에 따른 전지 열화현상을 비교한다. 정전류모드의 충전속도를 1C, 2C, 3C, 4C로 설정하고, 각 충전속도에서의 에너지를 기반으로 정출력값을 산정하였다. 따라서, 동일 충전 에너지를 기반하여, 두 충전방식에 따른 전지 열화를 분석한 결과, 3C의 높은 율속에서 정출력 충전방식이 전지의 열화를 늦출 수 있음이 전압곡선, 용량유지율, 직류저항값으로 확인되었다. 그러나, 충전속도를 4C 이상 높이면, 충전방식보다 전지간 편차가 열화 거동을 지배하였다.

Comparative Study on Electrical Discharge and Operational Characteristics of Needle and Wire-Cylinder Corona Chargers

  • The electrical discharge and operational characteristics of needle and wire-cylinder corona charger based on current measurements for positive and negative coronas were evaluated and compared. A semi-empirical method was used to determine the ion concentrations in the charging zone and at the outlet of both chargers. Results from experimental investigation revealed that magnitudes of the charging current from the wire-cylinder charger were approximately 3.5 and 2 times smaller than those from the needle charger for the positive and negative coronas, respectively. The ion number concentrations at the outlet for positive corona of both chargers were higher than fur negative corona at the same voltage. Flow and electric fields in the charging zone of both chargers were also analyzed via numerical computation. Strong electric field strength zone was identified and led to high charging and particle deposition. Effect of particle deposition on the evolution of discharge current was presented. It was shown that ions loss inside the wire-cylinder charger was higher than the needle charger The particle deposited on the corona electrodes and on the grounded cylinder caused a great reduction in charging efficiency of both chargers.

  • Energy harvesting from the vibration through the piezoelectric effect has been studied for powering the wireless sensor node. For the driving wireless sensor node, the generated energy is required to store the capacitor or battery. For the rapid charging, higher voltage than battery's capacity voltage and a large current are necessitated. However, the piezoelectric energy harvester is generally featured as a high voltage and low current generator. As it is known that the generated current in the piezoelectric energy harvester is related to an area of electrode of piezoelectric ceramics, we fabricated the multilayer ceramics to increase effective area for the faster charging. The energy harvesting properties and charging characteristics of multilyaer ceramics were investigated and discussed.

전기자동차 충전기의 누전차단기 감도 전류 Trip 방지를 위한 Joule Heating 시뮬레이션 방안연구 (A Study on Joule Heating Simulation Method to Prevent Sensitivity Current Trip of Electric Vehicle Charger)

  • 본 논문에서는 충전 시 발생하는 누전차단기 Trip으로 충전 중단에 의한 전기자동차 사용자의 불편함을 방지하기 위한 것이다. 현장 사례연구로 충전기 고장(failure) 유형, 차종별 누설전류 측정실험, 누전차단기 동작 실험 시 여름철 충전기 내부 온도가 60 ℃이상까지 상승하여 누전차단기가 정격 감도 전류의 80%에서 Trip으로 충전 중단됨을 확인하였다. Joule Heating 모델링을 통하여 32A 전류를 초기 시간 t=0 (s)의 기준온도 30℃에서 통전하여 t=3000 (s)경과 후에는 누전차단기 충전부 주위에서 발열이 32.4℃까지 증가함을 시뮬레이션으로 확인하였으며, 통계 검증 tool을 활용하여 온도 및 시간(s) 요인이 발생 열량에 상관관계 0.97로 검증되었다. 본 논문의 연구 실험 결과는 충전기 기구 물 개발 시 충전케이스의 재질, 내부 배선의 배치, 유전 매질에 따른 Joule Heating 시뮬레이션 수행으로 여름철 충전기 내부 온도 상승에 의한 누전차단기 감도 전류 Trip을 방지할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this study, the characteristic of charging current which flows into the polymer by applying the corona discharge carriers on the polymer surface was measured, so as to investigate the phenomenon of charge injection and movement if injected charge on polymer. Also. the characteristics of discharge current which flows by shorting both sides of corona charged polymers were measured. Experimental results are as follows; The amount of charges injected by corona discharge vary according to the state of surface and the type of carriers, and then the charging current varies according to the properties of injected carriers.

  • A non-contact battery charger for cellular phone is designed using half-bridge series resonant converter. This converter utilizes series resonance to reduce the undesirable effect of large leakage inductance of the detachable transformer and ZVS operation can reduce switching loss and switching noise. In this paper, analysis and design procedure of half-bridge series resonant converter with detachable transformer is presented. The input voltage is 85VAC∼270VAC, and the output voltage and current is 4.1V and 800mA, respectively. Furthermore, a method of calculating the secondary current of the transformer to control the battery charging current in the constant current charging mode is proposed. The performance of the charger is verified through experiments.

  • This paper deals with charging and persistent-current mode operating characteristics of BSCCO magnet load using high-temperature superconducting (HTS) power supply. The HTS power supply consists of two heater-triggered switches, an iron-core transformer with the primary copper winding and the secondary BSCCO solenoid, and a BSCCO magnet load. The magnet load was fabricated by double pancake winding and its inductance is about 21 mH. A hall sensor was installed at the middle of the magnet load to measure the current in the load. In order to investigate the efficient pumping characteristics, operating tests of heater-triggered switch with respect to dc heater current were carried out, and the electromagnet current was determined by considering saturation characteristics of its iron core. The saturation characteristics of charged current in the magnet load were observed with respect to various pumping periods: 12 s, 14 s, 24 s and 32 s. After charging the magnet load, the persistent current was measured. The operating characteristics of the persistent current mode were mainly determined by joint resistance and magnet load.

A Bidirectional Single-Stage DC/AC Converter for Grid Connected Energy Storage Systems

  • In this paper, a unified control strategy using the current space vector modulation (CSVM) technique is proposed and applied to a bidirectional three-phase DC/AC converter. The operation of the converter changes with the direction of the power flow. In the charging mode, it works as a buck type rectifier; and during the discharging mode, it operates as a boost type inverter, which makes it suitable as an interface between high voltage AC grids and low voltage energy storage devices. This topology has the following advantages: high conversion efficiency, high power factor at the grid side, tight control of the charging current and fast transition between the charging and discharging modes. The operating principle of the mode analysis, the gate signal generation, the general control strategy and the transition from a constant current (CC) to a constant voltage (CV) in the charging mode are discussed. The proposed control strategy has been validated by simulations and experimental results obtained with a 1kW laboratory prototype using supercapacitors as an energy storage device.

Analysis of the Charging Characteristics of High Voltage Capacitor Chargers Considering the Transformer Stray Capacitance

  • In this paper, the charging characteristics of series resonant type high voltage capacitor chargers considering the transformer stray capacitance have been studied. The principles of operation for the four operational modes and the mode changes for the four different switching frequency sections are explained and analyzed in the range of switching frequency below the resonant frequency. It is confirmed that the average charging currents derived from the above analysis results have non-linear characteristics in each of the four modes. The resonant current, resonant voltage, charging current, and charging time of this capacitor charger as variations of the switching frequency, series parallel capacitance ratio ($k=C_p/C_s$), and output voltage are calculated. From the calculation results, the advantages and disadvantages arising from the parallel connection of this stray capacitance are described. Some methods to minimize charging time of this capacitor charger are suggested. In addition, the results of a comparative test using two transformers whose stray capacitances are different are described. A 1.8 kJ/s prototype capacitor charger is assembled with a TI28335 DSP controller and a 40 kJ, 7 kV capacitor. The analysis results are verified by the experiment.

주유소 기반의 전기자동차 충전인프라 구축에 대한 취약지역 분석 (Analysis of Vulnerable Districts for Electronic Vehicle Charging Infrastructure based on Gas Stations)

  • Car exhaust emissions are recognized as one of the key sources for climate change and electric vehicles have no emissions from tailpipe. However, the limited charging infrastructures could restrict the propagation of electric vehicles. The purpose of this study is to find the vulnerable districts limited to the charging station services after meeting the goal of Ministry of Knowledge Economy(12%). We assumed that the charging service can be provided by current gas stations. The range of the vulnerable grades was determined by the accessibility to current gas stations and the vulnerable regions were classified considering the optimal number of charging stations estimated by the efficiency function. We used 4,827 sub-municipal divisions and 11,677 gas station locations for this analysis. The results show that most of mountain areas are vulnerable and the fringe areas of large cities generally get a good grade for the charging infrastructure. The gangwon-do, jeollanam-do, gyeongsangbuk-do, and chungcheongnam-do include more than 40% vulnerable districts.
