  • A great deal of study for loss reduction of photovoltaic system is conducted currently. It is hard to distinct the fault of photovoltaic system with the naked eye. For that reason, it is essential to repair and maintain the PV system by monitoring the system. The fault of individual modules can cause the huge loss of the entire system because of the mismatch. Therefore, the method of diagnosing the PV array is necessary by measuring the multi-channel arrays simultaneously. In this paper, it is presented the method of measuring I-V curve of multi-channel arrays simultaneously by using the charge and discharge characteristics of capacitor. Generated DC power at PV arrays is charged and discharged at the capacitors in a moment. By measuring the charged voltage and current, it is possible to diagnose of performance of PV arrays.

  • 고속/고전압으로 동작하는 자동차 전장품에 대한 EMI/EMC(Electromagnetic Interfere / Electromagnetic Compatibility) 문제는 기존의 PCB(Printed Circuit Board)에서의 문제와 다르며 하이브리드/전기 자동차에서 중요하게 다뤄지는 배터리에 대한 최적화 된 모델링 방법이 본 논문에 소개 되어있다. 기존의 단순한 저항과 커패시터의 연결로 표현 된 모델링이 아닌 고주파를 반영 할 수 있는 모델링 방법을 사용하였다. 이를 분석하기 위해 ANSYS사의 Simplorer와 Matlab을 사용해서 결과를 보았다. 본 논문에서는 DOD(Depth Of Discharge)에 따른 통합 등가회로 모델을 구현하면서 기존의 단순한 지수함수 곡선적합(Curve fitting)이 아닌 SOC(State Of Charge)의 경계조건을 반영하여 정확성을 높였다. 이로써 실험 데이터를 이용해 배터리 등가회로 모델링을 하여 정확한 배터리 동작의 해석을 할 수 있고 이에 따른 전도성 방사(CE : Conducted Emission)문제에 보다 쉽게 접근 할 수 있다.

Sealing analysis of sealing rings with respect to rubber material properties for high pressure valve of FCEV (FCEV용 고압 밸브 실링부의 고무재질에 따른 기밀해석)

  • The design of sealing mechanisms of a manual pressure valve was analyzed with FE analysis for a hydrogen fuels charge and discharge system of FCEV. The damage prediction of the O-ring with respect to the material models of rubbers was calculated by the gap analysis of the backup ring and O-ring according to the internal pressure. Two kinds of the rubber material characteristic models were adopted to the O-ring. One was the linear elastic and the other was hyperelastic of Ogden $3^{rd}$ order model. The experimental data of urethane of Shore hardness 90 was utilized to the curve fitting of hyperelastic properties. It was found that the contact pattern of the backup ring was different in two models and the sealing mechanism was better in the case of the hyperelastic characteristic model.

  • Lithium and sodium ions have been intercalated into two dimensional structure of $FeMoO_4Cl$. The electronic localization and the large difference in unit cell parameter between the pristine material and the intercalates lead to the existence of large biphased domains. In the case of the lithium system, a narrow range of $Li_xFeMoO_4Cl$ ($0.95{\leq}x{\leq}1.06$) solid solution has been found around the $LiFeMoO_4Cl$ composition. The OCV curve fitting has been performed using Armand's model. The occurrence of several parts in the charge-discharge curve is related to the electronic and structural modifications of the material during the intercalation process.

Application of Porous Carbon Catalyst Activating Reaction of Positive Electrode in Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (바나듐 레독스 흐름전지의 양극반응 활성화를 위한 다공성 탄소 촉매의 적용)

  • In this study, we implemented a research for improving performance of redox flow battery (RFB) via enhancing reaction rate of vanadium reaction ($[VO]^{2+}/[VO_2]^+$) that was a rate determining step. For doing that, porous catalyst, CMK3 was employed and its perfoamance was compared with that of Vulcan(XC-72) and commercial Pt/C (Johnson-Matthey Pt 20wt.%). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was used for inspecting reactivity, while its structural feature was measured by TEM and BET&BJH. Also, Charge-discharge trend was evaluated by single cell tests. As result, CMK3 showed 6 times better catalytic activity and twice better reversibility than Vulcan(XC-72), while it showed larger surface area than Vulcan XR due to its porous structure. Furthermore, CMK3 indicated 85% of reactivity and reversibility of commercial Pt/C despite its Pt-less situation. In single cell tests, when RFB adopted CMK3 as catalyst for positive electrode, its charge-discharge curve result was better than that adopted commercial Pt/C.

  • V2G (Vehicle to Grid) technology for an EV (Electric Vehicle) has been assumed as so promising in a near future for its useful energy resource concept but still yet to be developed around the world for specific service purposes through various R&BD projects. Basically, V2G returns power stored in vehicle at a cheaper or unused time to the grid at more expensive or highly peaked time, and is accordingly supposed to provide such roles like peak shaving or load levelling according to customer load curve, frequency regulation or ancillary reserves, and balancing power fluctuation to grid from the weather-sensitive renewable sources like wind or solar generations. However, it has recently been debated over its prominent usage as diffusing EVs and the required charging/discharging infrastructure, partially for its addition of EV ownership costs with more frequent charging/discharging events and user inconvenience with a relative long-time participation in the previously engaged V2G program. This study suggests that a Korean DR (Demand Response) service integrated V2G system especially based upon a dynamic charge/pause/discharge scheme newly proposed to ISO/IEC 15118 rev. 2 can deal with these concerns with more profitable business model, while fully making up for the additional component (ex. battery) and service costs. It also indicates that the optimum economic, environmental, and grid impacts can be simulated for this V2G-DR service particularly designed for EV aggregators (V2G service providers) by proposing a specific V2G engagement program for the mediated DR service providers and the distributed EV owners.
