The change of the electricity charge from cost base to price base due to the introduction of the electricity market competition causes consumer to choose a variety of charge schemes and a portion of loads to be affected by this change. Besides, it is required the index that consolidate the price volatility experienced on the power exchange with gaming and strategic bidding by suppliers to increase profits. Therefore, in order to find a mathematical model of the sensitively-responding-to-price loads, the price-sensitive load model is needed. And the development of state-of-the-art technologies affects the electricity price, so the diffusion of high-efficient end-uses and these price affect load patterns. This paper shows the analysis on learning curves algorithms which is used to investigate the correlation of the end-uses' price and load patterns.
In the design of the fuel cell charger, it is important to find out the suitable topology and to design the converter to guarantee the performance of the fuel cell as well as the battery. Most of the chargers developed so far have used step-down converters. However, since the small fuel cell stack can only generate a low voltage, it is required to use the step-up converter to charge the battery. In this paper, a modified non-isolated boost charger topology for the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is proposed to meet the strict ripple requirements for the battery charge and its control method by using PI controller is detailed. The feasibility of the proposed topology and its control method is then verified by the experiments.
Based on first-principles LCAO method, we study the electronic and atomic structures of DNA nucleobases adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cytosine (C) adsorbed on graphene surfaces. The ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions between graphene and nucleobases lead to the bilayer geometries similar to the Bernal stacked graphite. Through the density of states and charge density analyses, it is found that nucleobases are physisorbed on graphene by dispersive interactions with negligible charge exchange. Our calculations reproduce the atomic structures obtained in previous plane wave calculations accurately with much less computation, and well describe the delocalized ${\pi}-{\pi}$ interactions in graphene-nucleobases system, indicating that the LCAO method is very efficient for investigating graphene-bio systems.
This is an experimental study on the performance characteristics of effective heat pump in the cooling mode using a single-stage compression $CO_2$ cycle with an IHX(internal heat exchanger). The performance of a single-stage compression with IHX was investigated according to charge amount and operating condition. Moreover, the performance characteristic of cooling operating was analyzed with the length of IHX. As a result, the optimum refrigerant charge amount was 2.2 kg. The optimal system COP for compressor frequency of 30, 40, 50, and 60 Hz was 3.493, 3.228, 2.978, and 2.659, respectively. Since the system with IHX can maintain large cooling capacity regardless of operating condition, the system performance doesn't reduce considerably under unfavorable condition. When the compressor frequency was 40 Hz, the COP for a system with IHX length of 3 m and 5 m was 3.361 and 3.51, respectively. By using the IHX into a $CO_2$ cooling system, the performance and reliability improves simultaneously.
A Mono Q HR 5/5 anion-exchange column with a FPLC system was used to separate exogenously expressed calmodulin from endogenous tobacco calmodulins. Transgenic tobacco calmodulins were purified by fractionation with ammonium sulfate, precipitation with sulfuric acid and hydrophobic chromatography on phenyl-Sepharose CL-4B. The purified calmodulins were chromatographed in the FPLC using the column. This method was selected because of the slight differences in the net charge of foreign and endogenous plant calmodulins due to amino acid sequence differences. By this approach, the exogenously expressed calmodulin was isolated from endogenous tobacco calmodulins. The isolated calmodulin was characterized by amino acid composition analysis as well as methylation analysis.
The absorptions of Fe(Ⅲ), Tb(Ⅲ), Tl(Ⅰ), Ce(Ⅲ), Th(Ⅳ), and $UO_2^{2+}$ ions into the Dowex 50W-X2, 100-200 mesh resin were investigated by spectrophotometry to understand the abnormal strong absorption behavior of cations to cation exchange resins in concentrated HClO4. The distribution coefficients increase in the order : Tl(Ⅰ) < Fe(Ⅲ) < Tb(Ⅲ)∼Ce(Ⅲ) < $UO_2^{2+}$< Th(Ⅳ) and the order is interpreted in terms of the ratio of charge-to-ionic radius. The mole ratios of increment of $ClO_4^-$ ion absorption to metal ion absorption showed the same order as the distribution coefficients, which indicates that the electrostatic association between $ClO_4^-$ ion and metal ion plays a major role in the strong absorption.
We investigated that removal of aqueous U(VI) by nano-sized Zero Valent Iron (nZVI) and Fe(II) bearing minerals (controls) in this study. Iron particles showed different U(VI) removal efficiencies (Mackinawite: 99%, green rust: 95%, nZVI: 91%, magnetite: 87%, pyrite: 59%) due to their different PZC (Point of Zero Charge) values and surface areas. In addition, noticeable amount of surface Fe(II) (181 ${\mu}M$) was released from nZVI suspension in 6 h and it increased to 384 ${\mu}M$ in the presence of U(VI) due to ion-exchange of U(VI) with Fe(II) on nZVI surface. Analysis of Laser-Induced Breakdown Detection (LIBD) showed that breakdown probabilities in both filtrates by 20 and 200 nm sizes was almost 24% in nZVI suspension with U(VI), while 1% of the probabilities were observed in nZVI suspension without U(VI). It indicated that Fe(II) colloids in the range under 20 nm were generated during the interaction of U(VI) and nZVI. Our results suggest that Fe(II) colloids generated via ion-exchange process should be carefully concerned during long-term remediation site contaminated by U(VI) because U could be transported to remote area through the adsorption on Fe(II) colloids.
The objectives of the study were to investigate job burnout and leader-member exchange (LMX) levels as well as to evaluate buffering effects of LMX on burnout among dietitians and chefs at institutional foodservices. Hypotheses were proposed based on the Job Demands-Resources model and LMX theory. The study population consisted of dietitians and chefs who were in charge of managing unit operations in a nationwide contract management company. Positive/negative affectivity, workload, job burnout, and LMX scales that bad been validated in previous research were adopted A total of 552 questionnaires were distributed and 154 responses were returned. Results indicated that respondents' burnout levels were moderate and emotional exhaustion was greater than cynicism. In terms of LMX, the surveyed dietitians and chefs showed higher respect toward their supervisors than loyalty. When positive affectivity and negative affectivity were controlled, workload influenced emotional exhaustion and professional efficacy significantly. With affectivity and workload controlled, however, LMX did not influence any dimensions of burnout. The moderating effect of LMX on the relationship between workload and cynicism was significant. That is, the effect of workload on cynicism was weak if the dietitians and chefs perceived the relationship with their supervisor positively. Based on the findings and literature reviewed, how to mitigate job burnout among foodservice managers is discussed.

A water treatment agent with antimicrobial activity(Ag-Os) was created by exchanging silver ion($Ag^{+}$) on calcined oyster shell powder. The desorption of the exchanged silver ion was negligible, thereby indicating a stable antimicrobial water treatment agent. The sterilization effect of Ag-Os on underwater microorganisms was then investigated. An MIC (Minimum Inhibitory Concentration) test result indicated that Ag-Os had an excellent sterilization effect on G-germs, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Most germs were annihilated with an Ag-Os concentration of 200 ppm and contact time of 60 minutes. The sterilization effect was mainly dependent on the contact time. The zeta potential of the Ag-Os powder adsorbed on sand was measured relative to the concentration of exchanged silver ion. As the concentration of the exchanged silver ion increased, the surface charge density of the anions on the surface of the Ag-Os powder adsorbed on sand also increased. Accordingly, this result indicated that a higher silver ion than ion exchange capacity was present on the particle surface due to adsorption. Consequently, this increased concentration of exchanged silver ion would appear to significantly enhance the sterilization power.

Natural green rust (GR) can retard the migration of anions through geological media because it has a Layer Double Hydroxyl (LDH) structure with a positive charge. In this study, the sorption behaviors of anions such as selenite ($Se(IV)O{_3}^{2-}$), selenate ($Se(VI)O{_4}^{2-}$), and iodide ($I^-$) onto green rusts with different structures, i.e., GR($Cl^-$) and GR($CO{_3}^{2-}$), were investigated by conducting batch sorption experiments in an anoxic condition. Experimental results showed that selenite was mostly sorbed onto GR($CO{_3}^{2-}$) and then partly reduced to metal selenium, Se(0). However, little selenate and iodide was sorbed onto GR($CO{_3}^{2-}$) while some iodide was sorbed onto GR($Cl^-$). It is presumed from the experimental results that the major sorption mechanism of $SeO{_3}^{2-}$ and $I^-$ onto green rusts is the anion exchange reaction with the anions existing in the interlayer of the rusts. Green rust, therefore, can play an important role in the retardation of anions migrating through deep geological environments owing to its LDH structure with a high anion exchange capacity.
