  • This study identified the relationships between the hospital’s organizational pattern for nursing, the organizational characteristics perceived by nurses and their job satisfaction. The study subjects were a convenience sample of 383 staff nurses working at 10 general hospitals with more than 300 beds in Seoul. Hospitals included in the study were classified Into five organizational patterns, where nursing was organized as an independent but lower level, attached to the medical department, attached to a department supporting medicine, and various other organizational pattern. The data were collected from July 10 to August 15, 1992. The organizational characteristics as perceived by the staff nurses were measured by Park & Yoon’s Scale (1986) and job satisfaction was measured by Slavitt’s Scale (1978). The data were analyzed by percentage distribution, Pearson’s correlation, x$^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, and ANCOVA The summarized results are as follows : 1. The proportion of independent and attached nursing organizational patterns was 35.1% and 54.9% respectively. 2. There were differences between four general characteristics of the nurses, age, experience, position and education level, and the five structural types of nursing organization(p〈.05). 3. 1) There were no relationship between the perceived organizational characteristics and general characteristics of the nurses but there was a differ once in job satisfaction according to education level of nurses in hopitals where nursing was an independent department(T=-2.24, p〈.05). 2) There were differences in the perceived organizational characteristics according to age group and experience of nurses (F=3.26, 5.41, p〈 , 05)and in job satisfaction according to the position of nurses in the independent but lower level organizational pattern (T=2.26, p〈.05). 3) There was a difference in the perceived organizational characteristics according to age group (F=3.19, p〈 .05) and in job satisfaction according to the experience of nurses where nursing was attached to the medical department (F=3.49, p〈.05). 4) There was a difference in the perceived organizational characteristics according to nursing unit (F=3.19, p〈 .05), but none between job satis-faction and general characteristics of nurses where nursing was attached to a departiment supporting medicine. 5) There were no relationships between the perceived organizational characteristics and job sat isfaction and general characteristics of nurses in the various other organizational patterns. 4. Nurses in hospitals where nursing is organizationed as an independent department perceived their organizatianal pattern more positively and had higher job satisfaction than nurses working in hospitals where nursing is part of another department. 5. There were differences between perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction according to the organizational patterns for nursing (F=13.52, 8.76, p=.0000). 6. There were correlations between the perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction of nurses working in two independent nursing departments (r=0.2180, 2351, p〈.05). In conclusion, the relationship between perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction was significantly correlated in the hospitals where the nursing department is independent. Perceived organizational characteristics and job satisfaction depended on whether the nursing department is independent from or attached to other departments in the hospital. For nurses job satisfaction the nursing department should be independent from other departments and at the highest level of organization in the hospital.

  • This study analyzed some of nursing homes in various domestic and foreign regions in order to find solutions to reduce suicidal incidents from the loneliness. To analyze community space of nursing homes, elderly community is analyzed into three categories based on their characteristics (morphological characteristics, Social characteristics, Environmental characteristics). With those three characteristics above, architectural spaces are analyzed the relation with them. Elderly nursing homes are divided with living, nursing, management, and public spaces. The space of elderly nursing homes (classification of function)-elderly community (classification of elderly characteristics) is approached in an architectural way related to the space of elderly nursing homes and elderly characteristics. Through some case studies, specific space relation of elderly nursing homes and elderly community is analyzed. Also, with the building analysis for summary, plans, wards(hospital rooms), cafeteria, program rooms and alley, some of general information and elderly community space is understood. In this study, there will be an analysis of relation of elderly community(morphological, social, environmental characteristics) which is separated into some spaces of elderly nursing homes(living, nursing, public spaces and facilities) written above. Furthermore, if people can recognize the importance of community space for elderly facilities, there will be a new guide line for that which can have a play on catalyst.

  • It is known that an EEG is characterized by the unique and personal characteristics of an individual. Little research has been done to take into account these personal characteristics when analyzing EEG signals. Often the EEG has frequency components which can describe most of the significant characteristics. These combinations are often unique like individual human beings and yet they have an underlying basic characteristics as well. We think that these combinations are the personal characteristics frequency components of the EEG. In this seminar, the EEG analysis method by using the Genetic Algorithms (GA), Factor Analysis (FA), and the Neural Networks (NN) is proposed. The GA is used for selecting the personal characteristic frequency components. The FA is used for extracting the characteristics data of the EEG. The NN is used for estimating the characteristics data of the EEG. Finally, in order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method, classifying the EEG pattern is carried out via computer simulations. The EEG pattern is evaluated under 4 conditions: listening to Rock music, Schmaltzy Japanese ballad music, Healing music, and Classical music. The results, when personal characteristics frequency components are NOT used, gave over 80 % accuracy versus a 95 % accuracy when personal characteristics frequency components are used. This result of our experiment shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Using the developed wedding planner selection criteria scale, this study examined whether wedding planner selection criteria differ according to consumer characteristics such as demographic characteristics and wedding preparation behaviors. The main survey for this study was conducted via the Internet with 295 consumers aged 20-30 living in the Seoul metropolitan area. The data collected from the survey processed and analyzed using the statistical programs SPSS 21.0 t-test. Analyzing how wedding planner selection criteria differ according to consumers' demographic characteristics and wedding preparation behaviors, results shown for the wedding planner selection criteria were all four points on average except for individual characteristics and important sub-factors regardless of the consumers' characteristics, and various results were derived depending on the consumers' characteristics. This study has various practical implications in that it verified the difference in wedding planner selection criteria according to consumer characteristics and determined how much money consumers were willing to play for wedding planners. It is recommended that future studies take various approaches to investigate how wedding planner users are satisfied with or place importance on wedding planner services and conduct empirical using the selection criteria developed in this study to compare influential variables that affect behavior intention and willingness to pay according to consumer type.

  • Purpose. In this study, the empowerment and job characteristics of dental hygienists by hospital type were identified and the relationships between empowerment and job characteristics were examined. Methods. The subjects were 156 working dental hygienists. A structured self-administered questionnaire was used to investigate the empowerment and job characteristics of dental hygienists. For empowerment and Job Characteristics, the scale developed by Spreitzer and Hackman and Oldham was used. Results. The results of this study showed that the degree of formation of empowerment for dental hygienists was the highest in general/university hospitals. All elements of job characteristics were closely correlated with empowerment, and hospital type was correlated with the determination of empowerment. Job characteristics influenced empowerment. This result suggests that the inherent jobs of dental hygienists did not change much by hospital type, but empowerment changed because the organizational characteristics changed according to hospital size. Conclusions. Therefore, considering the importance of the jobs of dental hygienists, hospitals need to form an organizational atmosphere that guarantee autonomy and promote a diversity of jobs.

  • Modern clothes are part of formative arts and express experimentation and originality. This tendency is especially prominent in structural fashion. This study set out to analyze structural fashion in various aspects, examining and analyzing the expressive and formative characteristics of Deformation and contribute to the development of creative fashion design. The approach of peer debriefing was used with three fashion experts to identify structural clothes in the women's haute couture collections from a total of 24 seasons from S/S of 2008 to F/W of 2019. The clothes with Deformation characteristics were then identified to analyze expressive and formative characteristics. The expressive characteristics of Deformation in structural clothes were exaggeration, distortion, and recombination. Exaggeration was expressed with exaggerated sizes, forms, and excessive use. Distortion was expressed with distorted forms and functions and through optical illusions. Recombination was expressed with the recombination of forms and roles. The formative characteristics of Deformation were maximum, playfulness, and unfamiliarity. The study connected the expressive characteristics to the formative ones and examined them simultaneously, finding that "distortion" and "playfulness" represented the expressive and formative characteristics, respectively. The characteristics of Deformation are expressed in various ways in structural fashion. If they are considered, they will make valuable contributions to creative ideas.

  • Rubus crataegifolius is a shrub species and is primarily distributed throughout Asia and Europe. We collected 550 representative samples of the eleven populations in Korea to estimate leaf variation within species. The 35 morphological characteristics allowed us to resolve well-supported fixed characteristics and variable characteristics. Sixteen of twenty-three quantitative characteristics and five of twelve qualitative characteristics showed significant differences among populations. We argued that the population differentiation can accounted for the variation in phenetic characteristics such as spine in this species, but were less successful in accounting for variation in other traits. Within a polystatistic leaf structure, their morphological differences could be modulated by ecological pressure such as temperature, altitude, duration of sunshine, and solar radiation. The phenogram showed two distinct clades. One was a group in central Korea and the other was a group in the southern regions of Korea. If morphological characteristics in R. crataegifolius populations reflect their ecological niche, morphology should be regarded with caution as the main criterion for population studies in R. crataegifolius.

  • Speaking styles tend to have an influence on spectral characteristics of produced speech. There are not many studies on the spectral characteristics of speech because of complicated processing of too much spectral data. The purpose of this study was to examine spectral characteristics and formant bandwidths of English vowels produced by nine American males with different speaking styles: clear or conversational styles; high- or low-pitched voices. Praat was used to collect pitch-corrected long-term averaged spectra and bandwidths of the first two formants of eleven vowels in the speaking styles. Results showed that the spectral characteristics of the vowels varied systematically according to the speaking styles. The clear speech showed higher spectral energy of the vowels than that of the conversational speech while the high-pitched voice did the same over the low-pitched voice. In addition, front and back vowel groups showed different spectral characteristics. Secondly, there was no statistically significant difference between B1 and B2 in the speaking styles. B1 was generally lower than B2 when reflecting the source spectrum and radiation effect. However, there was a statistically significant difference in B2 between the front and back vowel groups. The author concluded that spectral characteristics reflect speaking styles systematically while bandwidths measured at a few formant frequency points do not reveal style differences properly. Further studies would be desirable to examine how people would evaluate different sets of synthetic vowels with spectral characteristics or with bandwidths modified.

  • The study examined that parents and teachers were aware of what extents behavioral characteristics were related to the children's voice problems. The voice samples of 89 children in the ages of 3 to 5 were collected and their voice quality were graded by G scale of GRBAS. The parents and teachers of the children were asked to complete the questionnaire composed of the pediatric Voice Handicap Index (pVHI) and the psycho- and voice behavioral characteristics of their children. The results are as follows. First, there were no significant differences in both pVHI and behavioral characteristics of their children by G scale. However, significant differences were shown in the behavioral characteristics between parents and teachers, but no difference in pVHI between them. In addition, there was a significant correlation between the psycho-behavioral characteristics and the voice behavioral characteristics in both parents and teachers. These results represent that parents and teachers are not aware of the presence of their children's voice problems and such voice problems are affected by behavioral characteristics associated with the use of voice.
