The purpose of this study was to clarify the concept of consideration set of stores and to contribute to the prediction of consumers' store behavior by finding out which consumer characteristics affect the formation of consideration set of stores. The data were collected from 553 female consumers. Factor analysis, K-cluster analysis, and ANOVA were used for data analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, the respondents were classified into seven groups based on the number of stores and store types they considered. Second, there were significant differences among groups in consumer characteristics such as knowledge, motivation, and solubility; especially, the differences were related to the number of considering store rather than the types of considering store. In other words, the more involvement in clothing and the more experience and knowledge about apparel purchases a consumer had, the more stores the consumer considered. This study is meaningful in that it provides a systematic organization of the concept of consideration set of stores.

This study compares and contrasts the consumer decision-making styles (CDMS) of South Korean and American Generation Y females. A total of 117 American female and 206 Korean female consumers completed self-report survey questionnaires to assess their consumer decision making styles. Exploratory principal components factor analysis using varimax rotation was used to categorize the items into an underlying set of American and Korean decision-making characteristics. Two-tailed independent t-tests were conducted to examine the differences between the two groups when items appeared to have common factors. Factor analysis identified five common factors between the two samples (i.e., enjoyment, shopping aversion, price consciousness, brand consciousness, and quality consciousness). The t-test results report significant differences in the items reported in each factor between American and Korean females. Some of the factors are more indicative of American female Generation Y consumers than Korean female Generation Y consumers. For example, the American female sample seemed to enjoy shopping and prefer brand names more than the female Korean sample. Koreans females seem to have a higher aversion to shopping than Americans; in addition, Koreans females seem to be more accepting of discount and outlet stores, will wait until the price is low before buying a product, and prefer sales when shopping. Based on the findings, the instrument identified varying CDMS between the two samples used. Previous studies using the Sproles and Kendall (1986) instrument experienced the same issue (Bakewell & Mitchell, 2004, 2006; Bauer et al., 2006; Durvasula et al., 1996; Fan & Xiao, 1998; Hanzaee & Aghasibeig, 2008; Mitchell & Walsh, 2004; Siu et al., 2001; Walsh et al., 2001). The results support the idea that no single instrument can be used to examine CDMS in different cultures. This suggests that each country has a CDMS with internal characteristics. Limitations and research for future studies are also discusse.
The current study aims to segment Chinese female consumers using their lifestyle dimensions in the cosmetics market, and analyze their cosmetics purchasing behavior based on that segmentation. Specifically, lifestyle groups were examined to see if there is any group difference(s) in consumer behavior for Korean cosmetics. Lifestyle groups were examined based on: consumers' demographic characteristics, perceived brand attributes, loyalty toward Korean cosmetics, usage of Korean cosmetics products, preferred stores of shopping for Korean cosmetics, and use of information sources in purchase decisions. An online survey was administered to female consumers who live in Beijing and Shanghai. A total of 493 surveys were used for data analyses. The results of the study were as follows: First, factor analysis revealed 11 significant lifestyle dimensions. Second, using these 11 lifestyle dimensions, cluster analysis was conducted, which revealed four distinct groups of consumers: (1) "timid inactive group," characterized by having low scores in most lifestyle dimensions; (2) "showcase goers," who tend to be highly fashion/appearance-conscious and brand-oriented; (3) "practical buyers," who tend to be price-conscious, sensitive and timid; and (4) "sensible buyers," who enjoy finer meals and wellbeing lifestyles, as well as hardworking in everything and impulse-buy things. Third, consumer behavior of purchasing Korean cosmetics brands were examined; significant differences among the four lifestyle groups were found. The study concludes with a discussion of the results and practical implications.

This study also investigated the effects of consumer counselor's reaction and stress from counseling work on counselor satisfaction in regards to counseling work and work performance. The results of this study are as follows. First, consumer counselor's work satisfaction was high for female counselors, university-educated, with middle or high status occupations, had short work years, had a higher tendency towards consumerism, worked in a counseling department with an active reaction policy towards consumer complaints, and had a lower level. Second, the work performance of a counselor was high for those who were older, university-educated, had short work years, worked in large-size counseling departments in a firm, had a higher tendency of consumerism, and worked in counseling departments with active reaction policies toward consumer and consumer's complaints. Third, consumer counselor's work stress effected work satisfaction but did not influence work performance. The counselor's reaction towards consumer's complaints influenced the work performance but did not influence the work satisfaction of a counselor.

The purposes of this study were to identify shopper types by analyzing clothing shopping orientations and to compare consumer characteristics such as store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics among different shopper types. A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing shopping orientations, store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics. The questionnaire was administered to 453 female adults during the fall of 1993. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Clothing shopping orientations were factor analyzed resulting six factors, such as Recreational Shopping, Economic Shopping, Store/Brand Loyalty, Careful Shopping, In- dependent Shopping, and Self-confidence in Clothing Shopping factors. 2. According to the factor scores of recreational shopping factor and economic shopping factor, consumers were segmented into four shopper types: Low Shopping-involved Shopper, High Shopping-involved Shopper, Recreational Shopper, and Economic Shopper. Consumer characteristics such as store evaluative criteria, perceived risks in clothing purchase, and demographic characteristics were significantly different among shopper types.
Objectives : To investigate the information searching behavior of health care consumers according to sociodemographic characteristics. Methods : A questionnaire survey was conducted of 1,507 persons who were selected through a multi-stage stratified area cluster sampling of the Republic of Korea, excluding the province of Jeiu-do. Personal were conducted through a door-to-door survey between 27 July and 10 August 1999. Results : 80.5% of respondents used more than one source of information and those $40\sim59$ years of age, female, a housewife or student and those who claimed a religion demonstrated more active information searching behavior. A personal informer was used significantly more in those $20\sim39$ years old, female, and those who claimed a religion. Clerical workers, those with post-secondary education and a monthly income greater than 2,000,000 won ($1500) were more actively used a public informer. Low socioeconomic status and older persons used an experimental informer when they chose a health care institution. Conclusion : Regardless of the sociodemographic characteristics, personal and experimental informers were the most useful source of information. Because appropriate information was not easy to obtain, the health care consumer was dependent upon word-of-mouth communication(personal informer) when using health care services.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of demographics and general buying characteristics of knitwear consumers on their buying decision-making process. In this study, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to young career women and female undergraduate students. of 580 questionnaires, 496 were used in the following analysis. The data was analyzed with SPSS package. T-test, one-way ANOVA and x² analysis were used to investigate the impact of characteristics of the consumers on their demographics. The high school graduate-career women group, relative to other groups, showed significant differences in practical aspects in buying knitwear. Second, the knitwear buying places of consumers were significantly different depending on the demographics and general buying characteristics of knitwear. The higher annual knitwear buying expenses and the lower knitwear buying frequency, the more a consumer shopped in department stores. Third, the knitwear satisfaction level of consumers was significantly different depending on their demographics and general buying characteristics of knitwear. career women relative to female undergraduate students showed significant differences in satisfaction with design, quality and yarns.
This study analyzes the variable consumer characteristics that influence the intention to use online product reviews. In online e-commerce, where purchases take place without consumers seeing the products in person, the product reviews left by other consumers who have already purchased the product are believed to be valuable information. However, when different consumers read the same product review, their responses to it may vary. This study analyzes the characteristics of consumers who utilize product reviews for their purchases. Consumer characteristics are categorized into personal information, personality, purchasing tendency, and experience related to product reviews. These factors are examined to see if they have direct or indirect effects on a consumer's intention to use product reviews when making online purchases. We surveyed a total of 240 consumers who had experience using e-commerce and knew about online product reviews. Once the data was collected, path analysis was conducted using the statistics tool AMOS. The study results reveal that consumers who are female, extroverted, and have higher price sensitivity think that product reviews left by others are useful, and that this "perceived usefulness" has a positive effect on the intention to use product reviews for making online purchasing decisions. In addition, consumers who are agreeable to others, have high brand sensitivity, and who have left numerous reviews themselves demonstrated the tendency to trust reviews left by others more. Thus, we conclude that this "perceived reliability" makes it more likely that a consumer will use product reviews when making online purchasing decisions. Future research can be done to develop this study further by analyzing whether providing online product reviews corresponding to the personal characteristics of consumers enhances the effect of product reviews on online purchasing decisions.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difference of seafood dining consumer behavior by demographic characteristics (age, gender). This research surveyed 251 people in Busan, Korea. t-test, one-way ANOVA, and MDS were used to identify the difference of consumer behavior by demographics. The result of the research revealed the difference between demographic characteristics and seafood dining consumption. 20's showed to accept the trendy dining culture represented by salmon, sushi and shrimp, and 30's also have similar tendency. 40's have higher spending tendency to seafood dining like tuna restaurants. 50's and 60's showed conservative consumption propensity represented by grilled fish, braised fish and raw fish restaurants. In gender analysis, male have higher frequency than female about grilled eel. In the future, the seafood dining market would be reorganized with the expansion of sushi, salmon and shrimp dishes, which can be classified as a new dining market. In this research, we suggested fisheries supply and production strategies according to age and gender.

In addition, the present study is to help to establish more effective marketing strategies for luxury companies by providing new data based on consumer knowledge. The author conducted a survey on a total of 816 male/female Korean and Japanese subjects ranging in age from 20 to 50s. The results of this study are as follows: First, Korean consumers have more positive attitudes toward luxury brands than Japanese consumers. Second, regarding the concepts about luxury brands, Korean consumers have concepts of luxury such as "involvement" "symbol of status" "scarcity" and "hedonism"and Japanese consumers have concepts such as "involvement" "ostentation" "high value"and "ornamentation" Third, Korean consumers are more confident in their knowledge and experiences about luxury brand consumption than Japanese consumers. The subjective knowledge has positive impacts on consumer attitudes toward luxury brands and becomes one of the reasons for the friendlier attitudes of Korean consumers toward luxury brands, compared to Japanese consumers. Fourth, the level of objective knowledge of Korean and Japanese consumers is high; but there is no statistically significant difference in the two countries.
