인천항 항만하역 재해분석 및 예방대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on Analysis and Preventive Measures for Cargo Handling Accidents in Incheon Port)

  • The port, differently from general working places, is a closed area required for security, customs, and quarantine procedures. The loading and unloading is being done differently by ports, cargoes, and ships. To do loading and unloading, a lot of equipment and different types of labor are required, which flow is complicated and safe management is essential. As above mentioned the port is very unique and very deteriorated working place in its working environment. The purpose of this study is to propose ways to reduce and prevent from port accidents. As first step to do this, we have collected 923 accidents happened at Incheon Port during the period of 1994 to 2003. We have thoroughly analyzed characteristics, harmfulness, and risk of the loading/unloading they have done, as well as the accident frequency and relationship between the accidents. As second step to further analyze, We have employed DMAIC technology, an advanced process of 6 sigma presently in spotlight as the best program for management innovation. This analysis results in recognition of important accident characteristics, causes and effects analysis, critical causes of accident, and suggestions to decrease accidents.

They are now pushing ahead with setting up of effective marketing strategies to survive in keen competitions of the 21st century port industry. The port is of ever increasing importance for the bridge connecting sea and road transportation in handling international cargoes. The port, differently from general working places, is a closed area required for security, customs, and quarantine procedures. Evaluating performance of the post-tensioned tapered steel beams with shape memory alloy tendons

  • The external post-tension technique is one of the best strengthening methods for reinforcement and improvement of the various steel structures and substructure components such as beams. In the present work, the load carrying capacity of the post-tensioned tapered steel beams with external shape memory alloy (SMA) tendons are studied. 3D nonlinear finite element method with ABAQUS software is used to determine the effects of the increase in the flexural strength, and the improvement of the load carrying capacity. The effect of the different parameters, such as geometrical characteristics and the post-tension force applied to the tendons are also studied in this research. The results reveal that the external post-tension with SMA tendons in comparison with the steel tendons causes a significant improvement of the loading capacity. According to this, using SMA tendon for the reinforcement of the tapered beams causes a decrease in weight of these structures and as a consequence causes economic benefits for their application. This method can be used extensively for steel beams due to low executive costs and simplicity of the operation for post-tension.

키르기스스탄 코코메렌강 유역의 대규모 산사태 유형과 지형 발달 (Types and Geomorphic Development of Large Landslides in the Kokomeren River Basin, Kyrgyzstan)

  • Large landslide is a type of mass movement that causes drastic landform changesin a short period, and it causes huge human and property damage over a large area. The purpose of this study is to categorize the types and characteristics of large landslides around the Kokomeren River basin, Kyrgyzstan and to discuss the geomorphic development after the large landslides. The topographic analysis about a total of 20 landslides documented collapsed volumes of 0.01 to 1.10 km3, height drops of 180 to 1,770 m, and runout distances of 1,200 to 5,400 m. Rock avalanche and rockslide are identified as major types of large-scale landslides in the study area. Rock avalanches can be divided into P-type, J-type, and S-type based on the features of slope failure and kinematic characteristics of rock debris. Landslide synchronistic landforms such as trimlines, transverse ridges, longitudinal ridges, levees, and hummocks are well developed in the rock avalanche. The pieces of evidence of landslide dam, landslide-dammed lake, and remnant outburst flood deposits are observed in the upstream and downstream where the rockslides occurred. The Ak-Kiol landslide dam is the best example of a geomorphic development due to lake spillover and the large landslides were likely to be triggered by huge paleo-seismic events.

Intracranial Fusiform Aneurysms : It's Pathogenesis, Clinical Characteristics and Managements

  • Objective : The objective of this study is to investigate clinical characteristics, management methods and possible causes of intracranial fusiform aneurysm. Methods : Out of a series of 2,458 intracranial aneurysms treated surgically or endovascularly, 22 patients were identified who had discrete fusiform aneurysms. Clinical presentations, locations, treatment methods and possible causes of these aneurysms were analyzed. Results : Ten patients of fusiform aneurysm were presented with hemorrhage, 5 patients with dizziness with/without headache, 4 with ischemic neurologic deficit, and 1 with 6th nerve palsy from mass effect of aneurysm. Two aneurysms were discovered incidentally. Seventeen aneurysms were located in the anterior circulation, other five in the posterior circulation. The most frequent site of fusiform aneurysm was a middle cerebral artery. The aneurysms were treated with clip, and/or wrapping in 7, resection with/without extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) bypass in 6, proximal occlusion with coils with/without EC-IC bypass in 5, EC-IC bypass only in 1 and conservative treatment in 3 patient. We obtained good outcome in 20 out of 22 patients. The possible causes of fusiform aneurysms were regard as dissection in 16, atherosclerosis in 4 and collagen disease or uncertain in 2 cases. Conclusion : There is a subset of cerebral aneurysms with discrete fusiform morphology. Although the dissection or injury of internal elastic lamina of the cerebral vessel is proposed as the underlying cause for most of fusiform aneurysm, more study about pathogenesis of these lesions is required.

Characterization and Pathogenicity of New Record of Anthracnose on Various Chili Varieties Caused by Colletotrichum scovillei in Korea

  • The anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum species is well-known as a major plant pathogen that primarily causes fruit rot in pepper and reduces its marketability. Thirty-five isolates representing species of Colletotrichum were obtained from chili fruits showing anthracnose disease symptoms in Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. These 35 isolates were characterized according to morphological characteristics and nucleotide sequence data of internal transcribed spacer, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate-dehydrogenase, and ${\beta}$-tubulin. The combined dataset shows that all of these 35 isolates were identified as C. scovillei and morphological characteristics were directly correlated with the nucleotide sequence data. Notably, these isolates were recorded for the first time as the causes of anthracnose caused by C. scovillei on pepper in Korea. Forty cultivars were used to investigate the pathogenicity and to identify the possible source of resistance. The result reveals that all of chili cultivars used in this study are susceptible to C. scovillei.

  • 정치적 신뢰란 정부가 자신이 기대한 바대로 결과물을 산출하고 있는지에 대한 국민들의 주관적 인식의 결정체라 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 이러한 정치적 신뢰의 내생적(endogenous) 측면과 외생적(exogenous) 측면에 초점을 맞추어 정치적 신뢰가 어떤 요인들에 의해 영향을 받으며 또 어떤 정치적 결과를 만들어 내고 있는지에 대한 이론적 논의를 정리하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 정치적 신뢰의 변화에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 정부정책, 정치인의 비윤리적 행태, 국민들의 참여민주주의적 성향, 정부에 대한 국민들의 왜곡된 이해, 정치문화에 초점을 맞추어 각각의 요인들이 어떻게 정치적 신뢰를 변하게 만드는지 살펴본다. 또한 정부의 통치능력, 선거결과, 정치충원, 정부정책의 방향성의 측면에서 정치적 신뢰가 정치과정에 어떠한 결과를 만들어내는지를 알아본다.

Why Do Startups Fail? A Case Study Based Empirical Analysis in Bangalore

  • In an entrepreneurial ecosystem, the failure rate of startups is extremely high at 90%, and every startup that fails becomes an orphan. This phenomenon leads to higher costs of failure for the entrepreneurs in the ecosystem. Failed startups have many lessons to offer to the ecosystem and offer guidance to the potential entrepreneur, and this area is not fully explored compared to the literature on successful startups. We use a case based method distinguishing a failed startup and a successful startup, studying the entrepreneurial characteristics and firm level factors which cause the failures, in the technology startup ecosystem of Bangalore. We study one of the modes of exit adopted by failed startup entrepreneurs and draw key lessons on causes that culminate in failures. We have identified that factors such as the time to minimum viable product cycle, time for revenue realization, founders' complementary skillsets, age of founders with their domain expertise, personality type of founders, attitude towards financial independence and willingness to avail mentorship at critical stages, will decisively differentiate failed startups from the successful ones. Accordingly, implications have been derived for potential entrepreneurs for reducing the cost of failures in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

  • Electronic equipment mounted on military vehicles is exposed to external shocks and vibrations. This causes problems in tactical operation and also causes cost loss in equipment maintenance. Therefore, to optimize the test standards for military vehicles with vibration, dynamic characteristics should be analyzed and standardized through actual driving tests. In this paper, the internal structure of 2.5tons military vehicle is designed in the form of a drawer and lathe, and the dynamic characteristics are identified by experiment, and the design is proposed.
