  • Pure Ti as well as Ti-6Al-4V alloy exhibit excellent properties for dental implant applications. However, for a better biocompatibility it seems important to avoid in the composition the presence of V due to the toxic effects of V ion release. Thus Al and V free and composed of non-toxic element such as Nb, Zr alloys as biomaterials have been developed. Especially, Zr contains to same family in periodic table as Ti. The addition of Zr to Ti alloy has an excellent mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility. In this study, the electrochemical characteristics of Ti-Zr alloys for biomaterials have been investigated using by electrochemical methods. Methods: Ti-Zr(10, 20, 30 and 40 wt%) alloys were prepared by arc melting and homogenized for 24 hr at $1000^{\circ}C$ in argon atmosphere. Phase constitutions and microstructure of the specimens were characterized by XRD, OM and SEM. The corrosion properties of the specimens were examined through potentiodynamic test (potential range of -1500 ~ 2000 mV), potentiostatic test (const. potential of 300 mV) in artificial saliva solution by potentiostat (EG&G Co, PARSTAT 2273. USA).

  • A series of indoor simulation tests on a large-sized shaking table was performed, which was used to simulate the earthquake ground motion for the pipe-soil interaction system to be tested. The purpose of this study is to examine the dynamic characteristic and seismic response of a length of PVC pipeline lay on a clay seabed under seismic load. The pipeline was fully instrumented to provide strain and acceleration responses in both transverse and in-line. Dynamical modal tests show that corresponding mode shapes vertically and horizontally are basically the same. But the absolute values of the natural frequencies vertically are all higher than those corresponding values in transverse. It turned out that the geometry configuration of riser affects its stiffness. Seismic response of pipeline depends significantly on the waveform, and Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). As the seismic loading progressed, the strain response was severe around both TDZ and catenary zone. Additionally, strain responses in top and bottom positions were more severe than the result in left or right side of the pipeline in the same section.

  • In order to analyze the pollution characteristics of small plastic debris(SPD) ashore on the shoreline of coastal flow, 12 times of survey were conducted on the Gwanganri beach of Busan for nearly 3 years. The sampled stations on the beach were divided into 11 squared survey sites from St. G1 to G11(see [Fig. 1]) and all of SPD was sorted into 11 items like P1 to P11 according to the kind of plastic materials and products(see

). 1. Total weights of them were widely ranged from 3.23g to 30.58g and also total amounts, from 39 ea to 398 ea on each site. 2. The ratio of items, P2 and P3, were accounted for 63% among all of them. 3. The seasonal variabilities of them were not founded with remarkable. 4. The correlation of total weights and amounts have reliable coefficients to some extent on the survey sites, but nearly didn't have reliances on items. 5. The average densities of total weights and amounts were computed with $4.506g/m^2$, $51.936ea/m^2$, respectively.

    • This paper presents an implementation of digital control system of speed sensorless for Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives with DTC. The control system consists of stator flux observer, rotor position/speed/torque estimator, two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31 DSP controller by using fully integrated control software. The stator flux observer is based on the combined voltage and current model with stator flux feedback adaptive control that inputs are current and voltage sensing of motor terminal with estimated rotor angle for wide speed range. The rotor position is estimated by observed stator flux-linkage space vector. The estimated rotor speed is determined by differentiation of the rotor position used only in the current model part of the flux observer for a low speed operating area. It does not require the knowledge of any motor parameters, nor particular care for motor starting, In order to prove the suggested control algorithm, we have a simulation and testing at actual experimental system. The developed sensorless control system is shown a good speed control response characteristic results and high performance features in 50/1000 rpm with 1.0Kw RSM having 2.57 ratio of d/q reluctance.

    • Due to the characteristics of low power, high durability and high density, NAND flash memory is being heavily used in various type of devices such as USB, SD card, smart phone and SSD. On the other hand, because of another characteristic of flash cell with the limited number of program/erase cycles, NAND flash memory has a short lifetime compared to other storage devices. To overcome the lifetime problem, many researches related to the wear leveling have been conducted. This paper presents a method called a TCB (Tracking Cold Blocks) using more reinforced constraint conditions when classifying cold blocks than previous works. TCB presented in this paper keeps a MCT (Migrated Cold block Table) to manage the enhanced classification process of cold blocks, with which unnecessary migrations of pages can be reduced much more. Through the experiments, we show that TCB reduces the overhead of wear leveling by about 30% and increases the lifetime up to about 60% compared to BET and BST.

    • In order to improve the sensitivity of the wafer type heat flux sensor, some heat flux sensors were manufactured and examined by using thermoelectric semiconductor material (bismuth telluride) whose Seebck coefficient is much larger than those of metallic thermocouple materials. Because the thermoelectric element cannot be bended or welded, a peculiar sensor structure and manufacturing process were designed. As a result, it is revealed that the characteristic sensitivity of the manufactured sensor is about 10 times larger than that of marketed sensor even though there are some troubles in stiffness for reciprocal use. If we make this kind of sensors smaller and thinner, it will be a useful method to measure the local heat flux from the surface of complex configuration.

    • The windshield wiper consists of 4 parts: a blade, an arm, a linkage and a motor. The wiper blade makes contact with the windshield and is designed to be operated normally at an angle of 30~50 degrees to the front glass. If the contact pressure between the wiper blade and windshield surface is too high, noise and wear of the rubber will result. On the other hand, if the contact pressure is too low, the performance will do badly, since foreign substances such as dust and stains will not be removed well. The pressure and friction of the wiper blade has a great influence on its effectiveness in cleaning the front window. This is due to the contact of the rubber with the window. This paper presents the dynamic analysis method to estimate the performance of the flat type blade of the wiper system. The blade has a nonlinear characteristic since the rubber is an incompressible hyper-elastic and visco-elastic material. Thus, Structural dynamic analysis using a complex contact model for the blade is performed to find the characteristics of the blade. The flexible multi-body dynamic model is verified by the comparison between test and analysis result. Also, the optimization using the central composite design table is performed.
