This paper analyzes the properties of such algorithm that corresponds to the nonlinear adaptive algorithm with additional update terns, parameterized by the scalar factors ${\alpha}1,\;and\;{\alpha}2$. The analysis of concergence leads to eigenvalues of the transition matrix for the mean filter coefficient vector. Regions in which the algorithm becomes stable are demonstrated. The time constant is derived and the computational complexity of the QFG algorithm is compared with those of the conventional LMS. sign, and LFG algorithm. The properties of convergence in the mean square error is derived and the neccessary condition for the CFG algorithm to be stable is attaned. In the computer simulation a channel equalization is utilized to demonstrate the performance feature of the QFG algorithm. The QFG algorithm has the more computational complexities but the faster convergence speed than LMS and LFG algorithm. Since the QFG algorithm has smoother convergence, it may be useful in case where error bursting is a problem.

The performance of underwater acoustic communication system is sensitive to the ISI(Inter-Symbol Interference) due to delay spread develop of multipath signal propagation. The equalizer is used to combat the ISI. In this paper, the performances of underwater acoustic communication with turbo equalizer were evaluated by real data collected in Korean littoral sea. As a result, when one iterative decoding using turbo equalizer is applied, the performance was improved 1.5 dB than the case of the non-iterative equalizer at BER $10^{-4}$. In the case of two or three iterations the performance was enhanced about 3.5 dB, but the performance wasn't improved any more in the case of more than three times.

In this paper, we proposed receiver structure based on an iterative turbo equalization to cope with phase difference between two sensors in MIMO underwater communication channel. In a space-time coded system, it is often assumed that there are no phase errors among the multiple transmitter and receiver chains. In this paper, we have studied the effect of the phase errors between different transmit sensors and different propagation paths in the environment of MIMO underwater communication system, and have shown through BER performance by computer simulations that the bit-error-rate performance can be severely degraded. A decision-directed estimation and compensation algorithm has been proposed to minimize their effects on the system performance. In this paper, we investigate the phase differences and their effects on multiple-input and multiple-output systems, and propose a compensation algorithm for underwater channel model to minimize their effects.

This paper related with the M-CMA adaptive equalization algorithm which is possible to improve the residual isi and robustness performance compare to the current MMA algorithm that is reduce the intersymbol interference occurs in channel when transmitting the QAM signal. The current MMA algorithm depend on the cost function and error function using fixed signal dispersion constant, but the M-CMA algorithm depend on the new proposed cost function and error function using multiple dispersion constant. By this, it is possible to having robustness of the CMA and simultaneous compensation of amplitude and phase of MMA. The computer simulation was performed in the same channel and noise environment for compare the proposed M-CMA and current MMA algorithm. The equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MD, MSE learning courves and SER, represents the robustness were used for performance index. As a result of simulation, the M-CMA has more superior to the MMA in robustness and other performance index.
This paper is concerned with a equalization technique for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems based on a block type pilot arrangement over slow fading channels. The bit rates obtained in underwater channels are relatively modest compared to some other communication channels such as cellular phones or indoor wireless systems. Consequently. the Doppler effect is the important parameter in tracking a channel. In case of a coherent demodulation scheme, the residual mean phase errors due to Doppler frequency may be fatal for the performance of the system. The equalizer could not solely handle mean Doppler shift. To account for the common Doppler effect a phase error tracking loop is used with the frequency equalizer. so that the rotation errors are avoided. Furthermore. simulations show that we can reduce the computational load of the tracking loop with negligible effect on performance.

This paper is related with the compensation of communication channel characteristics using predistorter, and the considered characteristic is the additive noise, phase rotation and frequency selective fading which occurred in communication channel. Predistorter can minimize the effect of obstacle element which occured in channel at receiving side by transmitting the predistortion of signal after modulation, the coefficient of inverse electrical charateristic of communication channel is performed at transmitting side. For this purpose, the predistorter is designed by using Tricepstrum Equalization Algorithm which is adaptive equlizer algorithm, and the receiving side must transmit the probing signal to transmitting side. Using the probing signal, the transmitting side can obtain the inverse characteristic coefficient of communication channel, and this probing signal must be transmitted periodically. We assumed that the channel characteristic do not change during this one period. As a result of computer simulation, we confirmed that the performance of predistorter was fairly good as same as the adaptive equalizer, and this technique have a effectiveness that can be used in the forward channel of mobile communication in order to achieve high speed transmission.

The performance of underwater acoustic(UWA) communication system is sensitive to the Inter-Symbol Interference(ISI) due to delay spread develop of multipath signal propagation. And due to limited frequency using acoustic wave, UWA is a low transmission rate. Thus, it is necessary technique of Space-time code, equalizer and channel code to improve transmission speed and eliminate ISI. In this paper, UWA communication system were analyzed by simulation using these techniques. In the result of simulation, the proposed Turbo Equalization method based on layered Space Time Codes has improved performance compared to conventional UWA communication.

This paper compare the VSCA (Variable stepsize Square Contour Algorithm) and VSDA (Variable stepsize Square contour Decision directed Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm that is used for the minimization of the intersymbol interference which occurs in the time dispersive channel for the transmission of 16-QAM signal.. In the SCA, it is possible to compensates the amplitude and phase in the received signal that are mixed with the intersymbol interference by the constellatin dependent constant by using the 2nd order statistics of the transmitted signal. But in the VSCA and VSDA, it is possible to the improving the equalization performance by varing the stepsize using the concept of distance adjusted approach for constellation matching. We compare the performance of the VSCA and VSDA algorithm by the computer simulation. For this, the equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, maximum distortion and MSE were used in the performace index. As a result of computer simulation, the VSCA algorithm has better than the VSDA in every performance index.

Digital satellite communication channels have nonlinearities with memory due to saturation characteristics of traveling wave tube amplifier in the satellite and transmitter/receiver linear filters. In this paper, we propose a network structure and a learning algorithm for complex pi-sigma network (CPSK) and exploit CPSN in the problem of equalization of nonlinear satellite channels. The proposed CPSN is a complex-valued extension of real-valued pi-sigma network that is a higher-order feedforward network with fast learning while greatly reducing network complexity by utilizing efficient form of polynomials for many input variables. The performance of the proposed CPSN is demonstrated by computer simulations on the equalization of complex-valued QPSK input symbols distorted by a nonlinear channel modeled as a Volterra series and additive noise. The results indicate that the CPSN shows good equalization performance, fast convergence, and less computations as compared to conventional higher-order models such as Volterra filters.

This paper compares the equalization algorithm of CR-MMA (Constellation Reduction-Multi Modulus Algorithm) and FC-MMA (Fast Convergence-Multi Modulus Algorithm) for the compensation of channel's distortion in transmitting the 2 dimensional 16-QAM signals. The CR-MMA adaptive equalizer use the error signal by reduce the nonconstant modulus signal to constant modulus signal in order to updates the tap coefficient, and the FC-MMA adptive equalizer use the error signal applying the modified dispersion constant considering the number of symbol level instead of signal point reduction. These two algorithm are known to its superior to the convergence characteristic among the MMA series equalizer. In this paper, the other equalization performance including the convergence characteristic was compared by computer simulation. As a result of computer simulation, FC-MMA has more good performance in the residual isi, maximum distortion and SER performance than CR-MMA, but not in convergence speed.
