Sub-band Spreading Technique for Adaptive Modulation in OFDM Systems

  • We propose a sub-band spreading technique for adaptive modulation (AM) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems in order to reduce signaling overheads and to average frequency selective fading channels causing different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values for subcarriers in each subband. The conventional sub-band based AM schemes can also reduce signaling overheads and complexity for allocating a resource per sub-band at a time. However, they may suffer from the channel variation in a sub-band when the sub-band size is larger than the channel coherence bandwidth (BW). The sub-band spreading at the transmitter enables the received symbols in each sub-band to have an identical reliability even in a frequency selective fading channel. We rigorously analyze the averaged SNR value at the receiver of the sub-band spreading system and the analyzed average SNR in a sub-band is used for an adaptation criterion. The proposed AM scheme outperforms the conventional sub-band based OFDM scheme without spreading, and it can yield better throughput performance than the conventional subcarrier based AM schemes when we consider the signaling overheads.

  • 본 논문은 On Board Processing(OBP) 위성종신 중계기시스템에 대한 채널할당방식과 그 성능에 대하여 분석하였으며 채널할당의 효율을 개선하기 위한 CRA와 DRA에 대한 개선방식을 제시하였다. 수학적 분석과 시뮬레이션을 통해서 시스템의 성능을 평가한다. 실시간과 비실시간 서비스를 구분하였으며 음성, 화상과 같은 실시간 서비스는 지연민감성을 고려하여 우선순위를 높게 고려하였다. 탑재교환기는 CRA와 DRA의 두가지 할당방식을 역동적으로 활용한 알고리즘을 사용하여 채널 효율을 높이는 우수한 기법을 소개한다.

WLL 다중채널 단말기용 RF단 설계 및 제작 (Design and Implementation an RF-state for WLL multichannel personal stations)

  • 본 연구에서는 WLL 다중채널 수신단말기 RF-모듈을 제작하였다. 그리고 WLL 다중채널 RF-모듈의 실질적인 성능을 수신감도, 인접채널 선택도, 스퓨리어스 응답제한 등의 파라미터를 이용하여 평가하였다. 실제로 WLL 다중채널용 RF-모듈을 제작하여 측정한 결과, 입력전력이 -90 dBm에서 -30 dBm까지 변화할 때 -30 dBm의 일정한 출력전력이 유지되어 약 60 dB의 동작범위를 가졌다. WLL 단말기 RF 출력단의 통과대역내의 평탄도가 약 2 dB 이내를 유지하여 대역화산신호의 전력제어가 정확히 이루어지고 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 WLL RF 수신 전단의 전송대역폭은 10 MHz으로 본 연구의 설계목표와 정확히 일치하였다.

  • 알루미늄 5052 합금의 탄성특성에 대한 ECAP 강소성변형과 어닐링효과를 연구하였다. 알루미늄 5052 합금은 용체화 처리 후 ECAP 가공하고 어닐링처리를 수행하였다. 탄성계수는 기존의 인장시험과 나노압입시험을 통해 측정하고 음향현미경의 음향재료신호를 이용하여 시료의 표변에서 탄성계수를 측정하였다. 기존의 시험법으로는 불가능한 소성변형과 열처리에 따른 탄성계수의 변화를 음향재료신호를 이용하여 성공적으로 측정하였고 개개의 결정립에서도 결정방위에 의존하는 탄성계수를 얻었다.

  • Numerical Aanlysis is made on the thermal performance of micro heat pipe in a axial flat grooved channel. The flow of liquid and vapor is investigated in trapezoidal grooves and the effect of variable shear stress along the interface of the liquid and vapor considered. The results from this study are obtained in the axial variation of pressure difference between vapor and liquid, contact angle, velocity of liquid and vapor and so forth. In addition, maximum heat transport capacity of micro-heat pipe is provided by varying the operation temperature, and compared with that from Schneider and Devos's model in which the interfacial shear stress is neglected.

Wireless Impedance-Based SUM for Bolted Connections via Multiple PZT-Interfaces

  • This study presents a structural health monitoring (SHM) method for bolted connections by using multi-channel wireless impedance sensor nodes and multiple PZT-interfaces. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. Firstly, a PZT-interface is designed to monitor bolt loosening in bolted connection based on variation of electro-mechanical(EM) impedance signatures. Secondly, a wireless impedance sensor node is designed for autonomous, cost-efficient and multi-channel monitoring. For the sensor platform, Imote2 is selected on the basis of its high operating speed, low power requirement and large storage memory. Finally, the performance of the wireless sensor node and the PZT-interfaces is experimentally evaluated for a bolt-connection model Damage monitoring method using root mean square deviation(RMSD) index of EM impedance signatures is utilized to estimate the strength of the bolted joint.

  • The geumjunggu of the onchunchun which is the upper stream have been maintained as a too much picture to become a concrete lining about existing low flow channel and the reservoir water protecting banks for the reason of the flow of an upper stream steep slope and back of the shortage of the channel area in a suitableness interval. This research made a rating-curve to decide since to ensure against risks to the flood control through the undo of the rivers. And we found the speed of current of a nature undo interval and existing concrete interval and water level change out. A result from this natural disposition we must apply as a data for the research about the plan to be established in the rivers maintenance basis plan of onchunchun.

  • We present in this paper the ture union bound of the performance of chip level detection for coded DS/CDMA system operating in Rician fading channels such as LEO satellite mobile radio where the maximum doppler frequency is very high. The main objective of this paper is to calculate the exact doe union bound of BER performance of different performance of different quadrature detectors and to find a optimum spreading factor as a function of fade rate. The rationale of using multiple chip detection is to reduce the effective fade rate or variation. We considered chip level differential detection, chip level maximum likelihood sequence estimation, noncoherent detection and coherent detection with perfect channel state information as a reference.

Delay Time Reliability of Analog and Digital Delay Elements for Time-to-Digital Converter

  • In this paper, the delay times were evaluated to develop highly reliable time-to-digital converter(TDC) in analog and digital delay element structures. The delay element can be designed by using current source or inverter. In case of using inverter, the number of inverter has to be controlled to adjust the delay time. And in case of using current source, the current for charging and discharging is controlled. When the current source is used the delay time of the delay element is not sensitive with varying the channel width of CMOS. However, when the inverter is used the delay time is directly related to the channel width of CMOS. Therefore to obtain good reliability in TDC circuit the delay element using current source is more stable compared to inverter in the viewpoint of the variation of fabrication process.

Threshold Voltage Dependence on Bias for FinFET using Analytical Potential Model

  • This paper has presented the dependence of the threshold voltage on back gate bias and drain voltage for FinFET. The FinFET has three gates such as the front gate, side and back gate. Threshold voltage is defined as the front gate bias when drain current is 1 micro ampere as the onset of the turn-on condition. In this paper threshold voltage is investigated into the analytical potential model derived from three dimensional Poisson's equation with the variation of the back gate bias and drain voltage. The threshold voltage of a transistor is one of the key parameters in the design of CMOS circuits. The threshold voltage, which described the degree of short channel effects, has been extensively investigated. As known from the down scaling rules, the threshold voltage has been presented in the case that drain voltage is the 1.0V above, which is set as the maximum supply voltage, and the drain induced barrier lowing(DIBL), drain bias dependent threshold voltage, is obtained using this model.
