This study is a policy research conducted for the purpose of finding new roles for adoption agencies and suggesting future tasks for effective adoption practice in Korea. To achieve this goal, this study analyzed the characteristics of adoption practices and the roles of adoption agencies in four countries (U.K., Sweden, U.S.A. and Hong Kong) and conducted a survey of the staff members of adoption agencies in Korea. The survey questions included: (1) the real changes and problems they feel in the adoption field after the amendment to the 'Act on special cases concerning adoption' in 2012; (2) the prospects for change in the future; and (3) the new roles they expect in the changing context. Based on the review of foreign cases and the results of the survey, the future direction of adoption practice in Korea and the new roles and tasks of adoption agencies were suggested.

Through the UN 2030 Agenda adopted by the United Nations, sustainable development is bringing about many changes around the world. While discussions continue on the roles of libraries in supporting sustainable development in library communities, specific discussions on this have not been made enough. This study reconsidered the roles and functions of libraries to support sustainable development and discussed approaches to which libraries can perform in terms of informational, social, cultural, and environmental aspects. It also proposed a plan to allow libraries and librarians to lay the groundwork for supporting the sustainable development of society by reconsidering the roles of librarians as the core of all library activities to support sustainable development.

In the course of operating the accommodative and detoxifying mechanism against cadmium, its physio-biochemical changes were observed in Klebsiella aerogenes ATCC 10031. Changes of enzyme activity concerned phosphate metabolism, changes of phospholipid composition and in view of energy metabolism the changes of the nucleotide pool were examined. Activities of both alkaline and acid phosphatase were derepressed 4-10 folds under cadmium added cultures. Moreover, production of phospholipid such as lysophosphatidyl choline (LPC), phosphatidyl serine (PS) and phosphatidyl ethanolamone (PE) was increased and uridylate nucleotide pool was increased under Cd-surplus culture. These results i.e. overproduction of phosphatase catalyzing phosphate residue, increase of the production of PE and PS which have a close affinity with cadmium, and indrease of uridylate nucleotide pool used as a carrier of polysaccharide synthesis like bacterial capsule exhibited cellular responses for active defence against Cd-pressure. It was postulated that these phenomena should play another assistant roles in Cd-detoxifing mechanism.

This paper reviewed effects of global climatic changes on wetland biogeochemistry, Wetlands play key roles in global as well as local material cycle, which includes carbon sequestration, $CH_4$ emission and DOC leaching, Increased air temperature, elevated $CO_2$ levels and changed precipitation patterns are believed to affect those processes substantially by modifying oxygen supply, carbon sources, and decomposition rates. For example, elevated $CO_2$ may increase $CH_4$ emission as well as DOC leaching from wetlands. In addition, interactions of multiple effects warrant further investigation.

What human beings wear is closely related to how they conceptualize their bodies and how they classify the group they belong to and the way they wear their cloth s an important cultural element that shows wearers' awareness and social relationship. Especially, underclothes reflect unrevealed cultural inside of the society more abundantly than outer wear do. Through such characteristics of underclothes, we are able to better understand inherent order of culture. This study si to understand the characteristics and changes of Korean culture by reviewing the convention of underclothes wearing that takes important role in clothing without being explicitly revealed. For this study, in addition to biblical review of under clothes of traditional societies, a total of 301 college students aging from 19 to 28, who are the most open to accepting new cultures and changes, residing in Seoul area were participant. Questionnaire consists of open-ended questions of underclothes terms, kinds, why they wear, items of wearing, how they obtained, how they take care of, etc. In conclusion, changes in cultural meaning of underclothes analyzed through convention of underclothes wearing are as follows; 1) changes in wearing pattern implies changes in functions of underclothes and changes in members' roles and values in a society; 2) changes in recognition of underclothes are related to the changes in awareness of sex; 3) consumer behaviour of underclothes represents a part of information culture; 4) changes in the pattern of maintaining underclothes show that differentiation of sex role in household tasks is decreased.

The tremendous changes of uterine endometrium are observed during early pregnancy and protease and their inhibitors are involved in regulation of cell proliferation and remodeling of the tissues through remodeling the extracellular matrix (ECM). Some of the proteases and protease inhibitors have been suspected to a factor in endometrial changes but many parts of their expression profiles and the physiological roles are not uncovered. To evaluate the functional roles of them, in this study the expression profiles of proteases and protease inhibitors were analyzed using real-time quantitative PCR analysis. Mmp9 (matrix metalloproteinase 9) mRNA levels peaked on day 4 at the time of implantation. On the other hand, Ela2 (neutrophil elastase, NE) mRNA levels were peaked on day 2 of pregnancy. Its expression were decreased until day 4 of pregnancy but increased rapidly until day 7 of pregnancy and decreased again. NE inhibitor Slpi (secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor, SLPI) mRNA levels were related with the implantation stage and with the levels of Ela2. At the time of implantation the expression levels of Slpi mRNA were about 5 times higher than the Ela2 mRNA in the uterus. In the implantation stage embryos, Mmp9 specific mRNA was only detected at the blastocyst. On the other hand, the expression level of SLPI was higher than that of the Ela2 mRNA at blastocyst and 4.5 day p.c. embryos. Based on these results it is suggested that MMP9, SLPI, and NE have important physiological role in embryo implantation both in uterus and embryos.

Roles of fundamental and additional hardening precipitates on the changes of mechanical properties and electrical resistivity during precipitation decomposition in binary Al-Li, ternaty Al-Li-Cu and multi-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloys have been investigated by the detailed measurement of electrical resistivity, hardness and tensile strength and the observation of transmission electron micrographs. Peek hardness and tensile strength in multi-component Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr Alloy had higher than that of the other alloys and the results of measurement of hardness, strength and electrical resistivity in each alloys aged at 90 and $190^{\circ}C$, precipitation behaviors and mechanical properties in binary, ternary and multi-component Al-Li alloys were contributed to the ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precursory phase of ${\delta}^{\prime}$, $T_1$, G.P.B. zone and S' phases, repectively.

We aimed to understand the molecular changes in host cells that accompany infection by the seasonal influenza A H1N1 virus because the initial response rapidly changes owing to the fact that the virus has a robust initial propagation phase. Human epithelial alveolar A549 cells were infected and total RNA was extracted at 30 min, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 24 h, and 48 h post infection (h.p.i.). The differentially expressed host genes were clustered into two distinct sets of genes as the infection progressed over time. The patterns of expression were significantly different at the early stages of infection. One of the responses showed roles similar to those associated with the enrichment gene sets to known 'gp120 pathway in HIV.' This gene set contains genes known to play roles in preventing the progress of apoptosis, which infected cells undergo as a response to viral infection. The other gene set showed enrichment of 'Drug Metabolism Enzymes (DMEs).' The identification of two distinct gene sets indicates that the virus regulates the cell's mechanisms to create a favorable environment for its stable replication and protection of gene metabolites within 8 h.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the identities and roles so that they can grasp their social roles and directions. Artists show a change in identity from the deification of modern artists with freedom and genius to artists who challenge the cognitive aspect of art and redefine the scope and concept of artists by expanding their social role. Artists dreaming of an ideal art utopia, in which art, society, politics, and daily life are coordinated, are constantly presenting the social role and direction of art through the combination and challenge of new ways of art and craft, beauty and function, creative imagination, and public service. Fashion designers act as contemporary genius artists, creators who express the appearance of the times, practitioners who advocate social values and changes, members of business in the fashion system, celebrities who are spotlighted by the public at the center of the fashion industry, or fashion influencers. Thus, fashion designers are complex or selective in their role depending on the fashion philosophy of individual designers or location given within the fashion system. They are becoming the subject of creating the culture of the times by expressing social ideology or playing a role in practicing art in life that leads social culture so as to raise the value of fashion in their development and satisfy cultural enjoyment of fashion consumers who consume art in everyday life.
