Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the preventive effects of exposure to liquid fermented milk containing various concentrations of added calcium on dental erosion, and to investigate the optimal concentration of calcium effective in reducing dental erosion. Methods: The present study consisted of a total of 6 experimental groups: a mineral water group, a fermented milk with no added calcium (0%) group, and four fermented milk with various concentrations of added calcium (0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, and 2%) groups. Twelve specimens were immersed for 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes in each experimental drink and the change in surface microhardness was measured. Additionally, the surface was observed using a scanning electron microscope. Results: The difference in surface microhardness before and after 10 minutes of immersion in the experimental drink was the highest in the Ca 0% group, followed by the Ca 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% group and the mineral water group, in that order. The groups with a calcium concentration of more than 0.5% showed statistically significant differences in surface microhardness compared to the Ca 0% group. In addition, when the surface morphology of enamel was observed under a scanning electron microscope, the results showed that the highest level of surface damage was observed in the Ca 0% group, followed by the Ca 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2% group, in that order. Conclusions:The present study confirms that a higher calcium concentration in fermented milk is associated with a higher possibility of preventing dental erosion. The addition of 0.5% calcium, which is a relatively low concentration, did not completely prevent dental erosion, but significantly inhibited dental erosion compared to fermented milk without any added calcium. Therefore, it is suggested that consumers should be educated and provided with guidance to consider the calcium content when choosing fermented milk.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the needs and improvement measures of the risk assessment system through a survey of asbestos abatement companies. Methods: This study prepared a questionnaire that includes improvement measures for the risk assessment system(six questions) and the necessity of a risk assessment system for asbestos abatement(one question). The questionnaire was sent to 2,170 asbestos abatement companies and returned by 83 companies(return rate = 3.8%). We conducted frequency analysis, ANOVA, and Chi-squared testing at the 5% significance level. Results: This study analyzed the survey results and identified six main opinions on the risk assessment system and improvement measures. First, giving an advantage to companies with a high grade(S and A grades) in public bidding and/or qualification screening showed a similar preference(agree: 50.6%, disagree: 49.4%). Second, 57.6% of the respondents wanted to allow air showers along with water showers for low risk asbestos work. However, 23.2% of the respondents asserted that only a water shower should be allowed since there is no scientific evidence supporting the removal of asbestos by air shower. Third, in order to prevent missing the enrollment of workers, simply submitting a change report should be allowed when any worker is changed (40.0%). Fourth, 43% of the respondents answered that they did not know how to calculate the proper number of negative pressure units. The reasons given were a lack of guidelines or standards(38.9%), inconvenience (36.1%), and absence of education(25%). Fifth, the respondents who were favorable toward the necessity of a risk assessment system gave higher scores compared to unfavorable respondents on the necessity of the management of workers' work history(favorable respondent = 3.96 out of 5, unfavorable respondent = 2.68) and the necessity of professional training for workers(favorable respondent = 3.71, unfavorable respondent = 2.56). Finally, the respondents favorable toward a risk assessment system showed higher scores on the awareness of calculating the proper number of negative pressure units(4.79) compared to unfavorable respondents(3.3). Conclusions: The opinions of asbestos abatement companies identified through the survey in this study can be usefully utilized as fundamental information to improve the risk assessment system.
The purpose of this study was to improve the production of Mozzarella cheese analogues manufactured using mixtures of soy milk and concentrated raw milk by performing ultrafiltration (UF) and to assess the quality of these cheeses during a 30-day storage period at $4^{\circ}C$, relative to that of Mozzarella cheese manufactured with the traditional method. The solid consistency of Mozzarella cheese analogue prepared from milk mixtures was lower than that of cheese manufactured from raw milk or soy milk and increased during storage, which is considered to be the result of decreasing water levels, as well as with increasing soy milk concentrations. In the Mozzarella cheese analogue generated using the milk mixtures, the fat content decreased with increase in the soy milk concentration, while it decreased during the storage period. Lactose levels were lowest in cheese composed of soy milk or raw milk and processed by UF, and decreased during storage in cheese produced using milk mixtures. In milk mixtures containing soy milk, the protein concentration increased with increasing amounts of raw milk and did not change during the storage period. The water-soluble nitrogen compound level was similar between cheeses and increased only slightly during storage. The amount of non-protein nitrogen compounds was higher in the cheese analogue than in the control cheese and tended to increase during storage. Analysis of the physicochemical traits of the Mozzarella cheese analogue yielded the following results: During storage, titratable acidity levels increased while pH tended to decrease. After analysis using electropherograms, it was classified as ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, or ${\kappa}$-casein. The results of rheometry tests showed that in the Mozzarella cheese analogue prepared from milk mixtures, with raw milk concentrated by UF, increases in concentration rate lead to lowered hardness, elasticity, cohesiveness, and brittleness. When cheese was produced from milk mixtures and concentrated by UF, meltability increased as the concentration rate increased, although to an extent that was less than that observed for the control cheese, and tended to increase during storage. Sensory evaluation showed that the analogue cheese was much better than the control cheese in terms of formation, appearance, and flavor.

Although the long-term leakage between the box culvert and the soil contact surface is one of the main causes of the failure in the embankment of the reservoir, there is a little studies on this matter. If a leakage occurs by the structure such as the buried box culvert of reservoir embankment is partially damaged, it is difficult to observe and there is a possibility of damage caused by piping. For these reasons, more research is necessary. In this study, the embankment type of the reservoir is divided into the core type and the homogeneous type when the damaged box culvert passing through the embankment of the reservoir is leaked due to the differential behavior of materials like differential settlement. In view of the condition, the seepage analysis of 2D was performed according to the water level change. The result of the study shows that the possibility of piping increases at the upper part rather than the bottom part of the box culvert when the leakage occurs to the box culvert passing through the embankment of the reservoir. Particularly, it is considered that the presence of the core helps to maintain the seepage stability of the embankment in case where the leakage occurs at the downstream side of the embankment. Also, if there is a drastic decrease on the internal pore water pressure in the embankment of reservoir, it is necessary to consider the possibility of piping.
The development of the Hantan river basin can be divided into three stages. The first stage include the ancient Hantan channel system prior to the Chongokni basalt which yield dates of about 0.6 mya from the K/Ar dating method. During this period the Baekuyri formation was formed. The Baekuyri formation is widely observed under the Chongokni basalt along the current river system. The second stage is the period when stream channels stayed on the top of the basalt plateau. Aggradation and deggradation were continued by meandering and braiding channel systems until major stream channel was formed. The currently remaining deposit on the top of the basalt was formed by lacustrine and fluvial systems in this period. During this period Pleistocene hominid was present on edge of water and flood plain and left Paleolithic material. This period was begun at the time of the final basalt flow dated about 300,000 BP. The third stage is designed for the time when the Hantan river channel was dropped down to a level from which the channel could not influence the top of the basalt any more No more deposit could be formed but erosion by surface water has been continued on the top of the basalt since then. The dropping of the Hantan river channel was probably not very long after the final flow of the basalt. Because of frost action and heavy concentrated precipitation in the basin area along with blocky and clumnar joint structure of the basalt, erosional process of the basalt is believed to have been carried out within a relatively short time. The lowering of the Hantan river channel was probably completed in a cycle of major fluctuation of world cimate. Also, the redclay on the top of the basalt is believed to have been formed during a warm period around 200,000 BP, which accords with the climatic change suggested above fair1y well. The Paleolithic materials in tile deposits fell accordingly into approximately same time period.
The goal of this study is to analyze the feedback structure of habitat changes of the Whooper Swan in Eulsukdo using system thinking to suggest a management plan for ecosystem health. Using the causal loop diagrams of population changes between Whooper Swan and other bird species in Eulsukdo, we found that the environmental changes in the roosting and foraging area affect the Whooper Swan's population. The causal loop diagrams of the Whooper Swan's roosting area indicated that the environmental changes (e.g., water level, noise, bird watching, and other experience activities) may influence their population density variation. In addition, the casual loop diagrams of the Whooper Swan's foraging area showed that the Whooper Swan's population was affected by various variables that included area factors such as surface area of freshwater, frozen water, salinity, and density of Scirpus planiculmis. Furthermore, through the integrated causal loop diagram, cumulative discharge of Nakdong estuary weir and building activities were identified as the variables that affect the population of the Whooper Swan. Thus, we selected this area as the strategic point to establish a management plan for the Whooper Swan's habitat. The results of this study will help in decision making of a long-term management plan for sustaining the environmental health of the ecosystem in Eulsukdo.
Residue level of myclobutanil[2-p-chlorophenyl-2-(1H-1,2,4-trizol-l-yl-methyl) hexane nitril] and number of soil microorganism were investigated at different environmental conditions such as the sterile and the non-sterile soils, moisture content, pH, temperature, application rate, and soil types under laboratory and field to study the effect of those factors on degradation characteristics of this fungicide and change of microflora in soil. Decomposition rate of myclobutanil was 3.9 times faster in the non-sterile soil than in the sterile soil, 1.6 times in the field than in the laboratory, 1.4 times in the concentration of 10ppm than in that of 20ppm, and 1.2 times in the clay loam soil than in the silty loam soil. Degradation rate of myclobutanil was the fastest at pH 9.0 among the tested pHs and the latest at pH 5.5. Degradation rate of myclobutanil was in order of $27^{\circ}C$ > $37^{\circ}C$ > $17^{\circ}C$. Otherwise, the effect of soil water content on myclobutanil degradation was found not clear. Number of microorganism in the non-sterile soil was remarkedly more than that in the sterile soil. Numbers of microbes were not significantly different between treatment plot and non-treatment plot of myclobutanil at the different conditions of soil moisture content, pH, temperature and soil type. Numbers of fungi and total microbes were more in the treatment than in the non-treatment of myclobutanil at field test but the same trends were not found at laboratory test. Within non-treatment of myclobutanil, numbers of microbes were not significantly different under the various condition of pH, application rate, and soil type in laboratory and upland field. The number of bacteria were more in 60% moisture content of water holding capacity than in 40% and the number of fungi were more in $17^{\circ}C$ of soil temperature than in $37^{\circ}C$. Within the application plot of myclobutanil, numbers of microbes were not significantly different at various pH in laboratory and upland field. The number of bacteria and total microbes were more in 80% moisture content of water holding capacity than in 40% and 60% and actinomycetes were more at $27^{\circ}C$ in the clay loam soil than at $17^{\circ}C$ in the silty loam soil.
Ecosystem biodiversity is rapidly being lost due to changes in habitat, fragmentation of habitat, climate change, and land use changes by human activities. Recently, attempts have been made to approach the watershed management level to secure the health of the watershed, but studies on how to approach biodiversity and habitat management are still in lack. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the habitat quality of Geum river basin using Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST) habitat quality model. The results of habitat quality was verified to eco-natural map and ecological watershed health evaluation results. The habitat quality of watershed was evaluated from 0 to 0.86 and the results showed that habitat quality was higher in upstream than downstream. Compared the habitat quality value in each eco-natural grade, the average habitat quality of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades were 0.80, 0.76 and 0.71 respectively. The results of the correlation analysis with ecological watershed health data, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.58, and the person coefficient was 0.76. The results of this study may be used as foundation data to support habitat protection and implementation of long-term biodiversity-related policies.

Currently, the efficiency of GPS has been increased in the various precise survey like as the control survey and the navigation etc. Also, it is widely used in the deformation analysis of the structure, the measurement of the marine tides, the measurement of the river level and the topographic monitoring of seabed or riverbed by combined the measurement equipment for depth. In this study, we intend to increase in efficiency of the topographic monitoring of seabed or riverbed by combined with DGPS, RTK GPS and echo sounder. For this study, we defined the error correction of the echo sounder with the experiment of water tank which is considered the characteristic of estuary riverbed and then we developed the s/w for 3-dimensional monitoring of estuary riverbed and applied the s/w to field test and improved the various problems. On analyzing topography of estuary riverbed by combined GPS with echo sounder, the draught error which is yielded to change of length from the water surface by the movement of survey vessel to the end of the transducer was eliminated by geometrical rearrangement and we defined the correction formula $z=BM+SAH-DBR_{(i)}-DRT-ED$. The sounding error about the echo sounder and characteristic of estuary riverbed was found by understanding the relation of average diameter ind residual error and we defined correction formula, $Y=0.00474{\ast}ln(X)-0.0045$ by the regression analysis. and then we verified applicability of correction formula.

Amitrole in environment, difficult to be analyzed by GC or GC/MS due to high polarity and low volatility, was analyzed by LC/ESI/MS in the study. Maximum peak intensity of amitrole in LC/MS/ESI mass spectrum is m/z 85 of protonated molecular ion $(M+H)^+$ with 30V of cone voltage at SIR mode. It was confirmed that ratios between main ion of amitrole, 85 of protonated molecular ion, and m/z 58 fragmented ion of amitrole, had increased corresponding with the increment of cone voltage from 20V to 70V. The isotope molecular weight of amitrole was $86([M+H])^+$ at LC/MS analysis and the mass spectrum ratio between 85 mass and 86 mass was not different by the change of concentration but similar to theoretical ratio(less than 10% standard deviation).The linearity of standard calibration curve under same condition with sample treatment method had $y=1.09354e^6X+26947.2$ and $r^2=0.99$. Recovery rates in water and soil samples were 77.64~83.44% and 71.11~79.44%, respectively. Reliability of the analysis was performed with 5 repeated measurements at each level of standard concentration and the result showed that relative standard deviation was less than 10%; therefore, the extraction and analysis method in the study suggested that it would be reliable to measure amitrole in water and soil media.
