  • Many studies have reported that software piracy is prevalent in today's society. As software is more closely integrated with across industries, software piracy would put more burdens on national economy. In spite of software anti-piracy efforts, the phenomenon has been getting worse. It is necessary to change the focus of current deterrence strategies. For better understanding of unethical behavioral intention, a research model of potential determinants for the software piracy is developed and empirically tested. The results from the study show that the planned behavior model variables-attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control-have impact on intention to commit software piracy. In addition to the variables, past behavior, perceived benefits and risk were found to be significant predictors of attitude toward software piracy. However, neither attitude nor intention was influenced by facilitating conditions. Moreover, the effect of past piracy behavior on attitude was strongly mediated by perceived benefits. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence of clonorchiais and analyze the knowledge level and intention of the participants to change their behavior related to clonorchiais. Method: The participants were 514 people from 7 community health posts along the Geum River. The formalin-esther sedimentation technique was used to detect the Clonorchis Sinensis (CS) eggs and a questionnaire for data on related factors. The study was carried on from December 2008 to January 2009. Results: The prevalence of CS averaged 9.3%, with a range from 0% to 24.6%. The significant factors were sex, habit of eating raw fish, and habit related to smoking and alcohol consumption. The level of knowledge was not high and not significantly different between the CS positive group and CS negative group. Intention to change their habits of eating raw fish showed various stages of change and attitudes to raw fish eating habit of others were not positive. Conclusions: These results suggest that a CS control program needs to be developed by community health services in the Geum River area to decrease the prevalence of clonorchiais.

  • The prosthetic leg is a device that performs walking instead of a amputated lower limb, and require a change in locomotion mode by providing the user's intention to respond to a discontinuous locomotion environment. Research has been conducted to detect the users' intentions through biomechanical features inside the socket that directly contacts the cut site in demand for natural locomotion mode changes without external control equipment. However, there is still a need for a sensor system that is suitable for the internal environment of the main body and socket of the cut site. Accordingly, this paper proposed a film-type sensor system that is suitable for the main body characteristics of the cut site, is not affected by the temperature and humidity conditions inside the socket, and is easy to manufacture in various sizes. The proposed sensor is manufactured base on Velostat film and takes into account the pressure measurement characteristics that vary with size. Through the experiment, the change in the internal pressure of the socket due to the intentional posture performance of the wearer was measured, and the possibility of detecting the intention to change the locomotion mode was confirmed.

  • Many learners are encountering e-Learning contents with smart devices and contents provides are carefully observing learners' reuse intention and behavior. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of e-Learning content platform characteristics on reuse intention for 200 users with smartphone-based e-Learning experience. The results show that the characteristics affecting reuse intention are content quality, interactivity, and ubiquity. Moreover, for men, only interactivity affects reuse intention, and for women, ubiquity and content quality affect reuse intention. When using smartphone-based e-Learning for less than an hour a day, only content quality affects reuse intention. On the contrary, ubiquity, convenience, and interactivity influence reuse intention when learning for more than one hour. Our results suggest meaningful implications that how e-Learning companies change their smartphone-based platform business strategy and how they utilize its key factors.

  • As economic profits and social influences of firms grow with economic development and their organizational expansion, consumers increasingly require firms to have their social responsibility. Because social responsibility strongly influences corporate reliability, consumers' intention to purchase, customer loyalty to the products and the recognition of an ethical firm have gained attention as a concept of strategical importance. The prosperity of society should be proceeded for the sustainable development of a firm and the necessity of social responsibility should be emphasized to achieve virtuous circle structure that promotes growth. Additionally, the social responsibility should be proceeded to form trust on a firm. It is very important to change the recognition of consumers to purchase products and increase the profit of a company. This study aims to analyze how social responsibility properties of firms (economic, ethical, discretionary, and legal aspects as low-level factors of social responsibility which Carroll (1979) defined) affect corporate reliability and purchase intention. The analysis found that consumers trust in firms are positively influenced by ethical responsibility (0.391), economic responsibility (0.293), legal responsibility (0.251), and discretionary responsibility (0.248). The relationship between sub-factor of social responsibility and purchase intention is not significantly influenced by other explanatory variables. Corporate trust exerts a direct influence on purchase Intention (0.456). The social responsibility of a firm didn't influence a direct purchase intention. It was found that it brought positive effect on the purchase intention in the course of forming trust. This study suggests that firms should make efforts to understand the relationship between corporate trust and purchase intention along with the characteristics of social responsibility that consumers recognize and improve management strategies for mutual complementary interests.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to test the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in the prediction of smoking cessation intention and smoking cessation behavior among adolescent smokers, in order to provide basic data to develop a future smoking cessation program as a nursing intervention. Method: The study subjects were 80 adolescent smokers who had smoked one cigarette and attended a five-day school smoking cessation program. The data were collected from October 24 to December 21, 1999. The instruments used in this study were the tools developed by Jee (1994) to measure TPB variables such as attitude toward smoking cessation behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, smoking cessation intention, and smoking cessation behavior. The data were analyzed with the SAS/PC program using descriptive statistics, hierarchical multiple regression, and logistic multiple regression. Results: 1. Attitude toward smoking cessation behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control were partially significant in predicting smoking cessation intention. 2. Smoking cessation intention and perceived behavioral control toward smoking cessation behavior did not significantly predict smoking cessation behavior. 3. There were partial interaction effects among the attitude toward smoking cessation behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control in the prediction of smoking cessation intention. 4. There were partial interaction effects between smoking cessation intention and perceiver behavioral control toward smoking cessation behavior in the prediction of smoking cessation behavior. Conclusion: This study partially demonstrated support for the TPB model that was partially useful in predicting smoking cessation intention and smoking cessation behavior among adolescent smokers. Therefore, it is recommended that attitude toward smoking cessation behavior and perceived behavioral control should be considered in developing smoking cessation programs and implementing nursing interventions to change the smoking behavior of adolescent smokers.

  • Objectives : To analyse the psychosocial factors associated with hypertension management(drug treatment and life style modification) of newly detected cases and to understand and assess their behavioral intention or behaviors. Methods : The survey area was a combined urban and rural area in Chungnam province, Korea, and the sampling method was cluster sampling. Study subjects included 541 newly detected cases of hypertension rated above stage 2 by JNC-VI from a community survey. The first survey was applied to 383 of these patients in order to discern their psychosocial characteristics. A follow-up survey was given to 345 persons with an 11-month interval following monthly telephone counseling concerning medication and life style modification by trained nurses. The final study subjects for analysis comprised 271 persons after excluding cases of incomplete data and change of address. Results : Among the 85(33.2%) new patients who had intended to undergo drug treatment, 30(35.3%) persons were treated with antihypertensive agent after 11 - month interval, while among the patients with no intention to receive treatment, only 36(21.1%) persons were treated. Hypertensive patients with a high intention score revealed a high score in life style modification compliance as well. Seventy three percent of the variance of behavioral intention to undergo hypertension management was explained by the patients attitude toward performing the behavior and subjective norm associated with behaviors related to the theory of reasoned action in structural modeling. Actual behaviors related positively with behavioral intention. The coefficient of determination was 0.255. Conclusion : Improving the compliance level of hypertensive patients in respect to drug treatment or life style modification requires a build up of positive behavioral intention, and caregivers must pay more attention to eventually converting behavioral intention to actual behaviors.

  • This study empirically investigates the effect of self presentation on SNS to interpersonal relation and quality of life. Especially, we performed exploratory analysis that how SNS affect to quality of life and wether the change of interpersonal relation is mediating effect to quality of life and intention to use. And we also suggest that the capability of communication would be a moderator. In the results, firstly, the using SNS has significantly positive effect on the change of interpersonal relation. And it as mediation variable can positive impact on the relationship between the using SNS, quality of life, and Intention to use. In the moderating analysis, SNS users who responded higher communication capability have significantly more higher effect on the change of interpersonal relation and quality of life. Secondly, the change of interpersonal relation after use of SNS as a mediation variable serves to enhance the relationship between the use of SNS and the quality of life in the positive direction.
