Characterization of Environment-Friendly Ceramic Coating Materials (친환경적인 분말형 세라믹 페인트의 특성평가)

  • In this paper, we described about the characteristic evaluation of environment-friendly ceramic paint with calcium-silicate mineral as a main binder. Particularly, we performed discharge of the environmental poisoning materials(e.g. VOCs, heavy metal, etc.), and properties of paint slurry and coating film of the ceramic paint. In the comparison of the ceramic paint with natural paint and mineral paint which were known as our environment-friendly paints, ceramic paint had good characteristics in the environmental safety and properies of wet slurry and dried coating film.

  • Sick house syndrome comes from VOCs that is harmful to health. To reduce VOCs, the cause of sick house syndrome, several materials have been developed and use. One of this materials, VOCs absorption paint was developed. VOCs absorption paint contains ceramic binder and zeolite powder. In the present study, eco-ceramics paint has been successfully fabricated by high-speed mixer using ceramic binder and filler powders. The eco-ceramics paint thus obtained have a deodorization rate with about 95.7$ \%$ and the bacteria decreasing rate is about 99.6$\%$. Moreover, the eco-ceramics paint showed excellent VOCs interception properties due to effect of ceramics layer and zeolite which exist in surface of paint.

Evaluation of Humidity Control Ceramic Paint Using Gypsum Binder

  • Active clay, bentonite and zeolite were used as porous materials for humidity controlling ceramic boards. The specific area and the pore volume of active clay were higher than those of bentonite and zeolite. It was effective to add white cement as well as a retarding agent to control the setting time of the ceramic paint. As the amount of added porous materials increases, the specific surface area and total pore volume of ceramic paint increase, but the average pore diameter decreases. The addition of porous materials having a high specific area and a large pore volume improves the moisture absorptive and desorptive performance of the ceramic paint. Therefore, in this experiment, the moisture absorptive and desorptive properties were best when active clay was added. Also, as the added amount of porous materials increases, the moisture absorptive and desorptive properties improve. In this experiment, when 70 mass% of active clay was added to ceramic paint, the hygroscopicity was highest at about $80g/m^2$.

Performance Evaluation of Water Vapour Adsorption & Desorption Properties of Ceramic Panel and Painting Materials for Humidity Control (습도조절용 세라믹패널 및 도료의 흡·방습성능 평가)

  • This study is conducted to evaluate the performance of ceramic panels and painting materials for humidity control which are developed in non-plastic room temperature hardening structure as part of a project to improve a residential environment for the low-income class, rather than the performance of high-priced humidity control materials that are produced with the existing plasticity processing. The testing methods included the measurements of absorption & desoprtion of humidity per material; Mock-up Testing; an evaluation method of comparing the absorption & desoprtion performances of Ecocarat, ceramic panels and painting materials through Living Lab. According to the measurements of absorption & desoprtion per material, ceramic panels, E panel, and ceramic painting material showed 73.3g/m2, 96.6g/m2, and 111.1g/m2, respectively. That is, the performance of humidity control of each material was found to be good in the order of: Ceramic Paint > E panel > Ceramic Panel. According to performance evaluation testing with Mock-up test and Living Lab, Ceramic Paint, Ecocarat, and Ceramic Panels showed better absorption & desoprtion performances in the order.

  • The research which it sees will confront to the coating with paint material and a coating with paint public law application of the river bridge and it will present it will sleep and it will execute, it will reach and a comparison - an analysis from the research which it tries to respect middle of special environment the polyurethane system which is a method coating with paint system and fluorine resin system, against a ceramic system it executed more an objectivity and rational fundamental data. With research method against each coating with paint evening sunlight a research investigation material and structure, it separated with spatial-temporal characteristic and economic viewpoint it executed. When considering overview from material viewpoint, fluorine resin system ceramic system polyurethane system pure with it is judged with the fact that it is excellent. There is a possibility of saying that the coefficient of friction of the fluorine resin system which uses the weapon quality zinc end coating compound ever so hard and polyurethane system is excellent ceramic system than from structure viewpoint. That fluorine resin system = polyurethane system ceramic system pure with it is excellent, it is judged from spatial-temporal characteristic viewpoint. It measures but it considered an internal troubles year grudge in the standard which becomes disturbance the place where it executes the market the expectation life person of the general bridge against 100 years the result fluorine resin system polyurethane system ceramic system which compares a materials unit cost pure with it appeared.

Development and Characterizations of Environment-friendly Lime Paint (친환경성 석회 도료의 개발 및 특성 연구)

  • Lime paint surpassing others in execution efficiency, anti-bacterial, anti-mold and small quantity emission of VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) characteristics was developed using a limestone as raw materials. The lime paint prepared by mixing slaked lime($37{\sim}40\;wt%$), PVA:EVA(9 wt%:1 wt%), talc(23 wt%), $TiO_2$(14 wt%), zeolite (3 wt%), antifoaming agent(5 wt%), wetting agent (5 wt%) was indicated over 99.8% of anti-bacterial and anti-mold characteristics. Also, the environment-friendly function of the lime paint was confirmed by detection of small amount of TVOCs($0.01\;mg/m^2h$) and formaldehyde($0.008\;mg/m^2h$). Execution efficiency, economy-and environment-friendly characteristics of this lime paint can make up for defects of established paints. And, it also presents the advantage of a limestone as high value added materials.

  • The ceramic metal resin paints for waterproof and anti corrosion is not long history in development of materials even many actual result. So far, no standard have been given to construction and maintenance method, Quality and property, it is real state that cannot afford to proper quality control in job site or production. This study has been test for the ceramic metal resin paints for water and anti corrosion, as the result, it have proper performance of job site and mechanical performance of compare to other existing. In particular, tensile strength indicates more high about $14.1N/mm^2$ than epoxy resin paints, and in elongation per unit length is more high It is shows having better adhesive strength than epoxy resin paint for crack on the concrete structure. Moreover, The ceramic metal paint for water and corrosion proofing have to have main performance is watertightness and resistance for external impact, chloride ion permeation, drinkable water elution.

A Development of the Coated Lead Sinker for Gill-net (자망어구용 코팅발돌의 개발)

  • The ceramic contained paint was made to replace the lead sinker for gill-net with coated lead sinker. The ceramic contained paints were coated in various conditions on the lead sinker with 19g of weight and the optimal coating condition was studied. The adaptability of the coated lead sinker was checked through the anti durability test and fishing operation with gill-net. The case of "Main material 70 wt% + Urethane thinner 30 wt% (Main material 700 $m{\ell}$ + Thinner 300 $m{\ell}$)" showed the best in the coating characteristics depending on the combination ratio of the ceramic paint contained. The coated lead sinker dried at $100^{\circ}C$ inside oven was superior to the drying in the room temperature in its surface glossiness and anti durability and faster drying time than the one dried in normal temperature. The quadruple layers of coating on lead sinker with 4 times of dipping and drying application showed the super anti durability in the coating characteristics depending on the frequency of dipping. When press is applied to the coated lead sinker, the coated layer is not detached from the sinker. In addition, the coated lead sinker was not damaged or peeled at the fishing operation about 2 months in various depths within 50m and by the materials at the bottom (sand, stone and gravel stone) and it was in good condition.

  • Piezoelectric ceramics play an important role in electrical and electronic devices such as sensors, actuators, and microelectronic devices. However, traditional ceramics are difficult to be used in various process industries due to their high brittleness and low flexibility. Therefore, piezoelectric paint sensors have been designed for application to the curved surfaces of complicated structures. Furthermore, recently, significant attention has been focused on the development of paint sensors that can be used as structure health monitoring sensors for vibration, impact, and acoustic emission. Several studies have successfully demonstrated the possibility that smart paint sensors can take the place of traditional ceramic sensors. In this review, we briefly introduce the concept of the piezoelectric paint sensors and the expected application field as well as their preparation and history.

Development of IR Reflective Cool Pigment and Paint (차열도료용 Cool Pigment 및 Paint 개발)

  • Infrared(IR) reflective black cool pigment and paint which is used for interior/exterior materials(IR reflectance >30%) to prevent heat island effect and to increase energy efficiency were studied. Cool pigment was synthesized using mixture of $Fe_2O_3$ and $Cr_2O_3$ with calcination from 900 to $1,200^{\circ}C$. Cool paint was prepared by formulation of cool pigment, acrylic resins, and other additives. Results showed that optimum color fixation of pigment obtained by mole ratio of Fe to Cr was 0.9 with calcination temperature at $1,000^{\circ}C$. The cool paint formulated by 20% pigment and 1.5% dispersive additive with $125{\mu}m$ thickness of coated layer showed optimum IR reflectance. Temperature difference on surface between cool paint and ordinary paint(STD) was $36.5^{\circ}C$ and IR reflectance(TSR) was 39.3% at wavelength from 700 to 2,500nm. And color change was not detected during 500hrs weathering test.
