  • We observe the proton signals produced by laser interaction with thin-foil targets of polyimide and of copper. We change the thickness of the polyimide target to $7.5{\mu}m$, $12.5{\mu}m$, and $50{\mu}m$. High-energy protons with the maximum energy of ${\sim}2.3\;MeV$ from $7.5{\mu}m$ thick polyimide are observed. This proton beam with the maximum energy of multi-MeV has various applications such as a proton shadowgraphy.

  • We are developing large arrays of X-ray microcalorimeters for applications in X-ray astronomy. X-ray microcalorimeters can detect the energy of X-rays with extremely high resolution. High-resolution Imaging spectroscopy enabled by these arrays will allow us to study the hot and energetic nature of the Universe through the detection of X-rays from astronomical objects such as neutron stars or black holes. I will introduce the state-of-the-art X-ray microcalorimeters being developed at NASA/GSFC and the future X-ray observatory missions based on microcalorimeters.

  • Two new cell structures for optical compensated bend were proposed. There are two groups of slit electrodes, which are driven by two different signals corresponding to the entire electrode as common electrode. The transmittance was enhanced without increasing the response time and light leakage. Compared with the traditional OCB mode, the increment of the transmittance of each kind is about 90% and 30%.

  • In this paper, a micromachined millimeter-wave end-gap band-pass filter (BPF) is presented. The millimeter-wave BPF is designed using 3D design software, Zeland IE3D with the center frequency of 60 GHz, band width of 3 GHz, ripple of 1㏈ and insertion loss of 2.5dB. This type of micromachined BPF can be used in millimeter-wave circuit.
