캐나다 시멘트 및 콘크리트의 내구성 및 제성능에 대한 규준 (Durability and Performance Requirements in Canadian Cement and Concrete Standards)

  • Traditional standards and specifications for concrete have largely been prescriptive, (or prescription-based), and can sometimes hinder innovation and in particular the use of more environmentally friendly concretes by requiring minimum cement contents and SCM replacement levels. In December 2004, the Canadian CSA A23.1-04 standard was issued which made provisions (a) for high-volume SCM concretes, (b) added new performance requirements for concrete, and (c) clearly outlined the requirements and responsibilities for use in performance-based concrete specifications. Also, in December 2003, the CSA A3000 Hydraulic Cement standard was revised. It (a) reclassified the types of cements based on performance requirements, with both Portland and blended cements meeting the same physical requirements, (b) allows the use of performance testing for assessing sulphate resistance of cementitious materials combinations, (c) includes an Annex D, which allows performance testing of new or non-traditional supplementary cementing materials. From a review of international concrete standards, it was found that one of the main concerns with performance specifications has been the lack of tests, or lack of confidence in existing tests, for judging all relevant performance concerns. Of currently used or available test methods for both fresh, hardened physical, and durability properties, it was found that although there may be no ideal testing solutions, there are a number of practical and useful tests available. Some of these were adopted in CSA A23.1-04, and it is likely that new performance tests will be added in future revisions. Other concerns with performance standards are the different perspectives on the point of testing for performance. Some concrete suppliers may prefer processes for both pre-qualifying the plant, and specific mixtures, followed only with testing only 'end-of-chute' fresh properties on-site. However, owners want to know the in-place performance of the concrete, especially with high-volume SCM concretes where placing and curing are important. Also, the contractor must be aware of, and share the responsibility for handling, constructability, curing, and scheduling issues that influence the in-place concrete properties.

반응표면분석법에 따른 경량기포콘크리트 최적배합 도출에 관한 연구 (Optimized Mixing Design of Lightweight Aerated Concrete by Response Surface Analysis)

  • 이 논문에서는 과산화수소를 사용한 경량기포콘크리트의 최적배합비를 제안하고 있다. 최적배합을 도출하기 위해 상용프로그램인 MINITAB을 사용하여 실험계획법을 적용하였다. 통계적 분석방법은 반응표면분석법 중 하나인 Box Behnken(B-B)계획법으로 하였다. 실험시 고려한 영향인자로는 단위시멘트량, 물시멘트비, 과산화수소비를 설정하였다. 분산분석에 따르면 경화상태에서 경량기포콘크리트의 물시멘트비와 과산화수소비는 절건밀도, 압축강도, 휨강도에 유의차가 있고, 단위시멘트량은 절건밀도에만 유의차가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 반응표면분석의 결과에서 과산화수소를 사용한 경량기포콘크리트의 최적배합비는 단위시멘트량 800 kg/$m^3$, 물시멘트비 44.33%, 과산화수소비 10%로 도출되었다.

수축저감제의 종류 및 혼입률에 따른 변형경화형 시멘트복합체의 역학적 특성 (Effects of Shrinkage Reducing Agent (SRA) Type and Content on Mechanical Properties of Strain Hardening Cement Composite (SHCC))

  • 본 연구는 두 종류의 수축저감제를 혼입한 변형경화형 시멘트 복합체(SHCC)의 압축, 인장 및 휨 특성을 평가하기 위하여 계획되었으며, 재령과 수축저감제의 종류 및 혼입률을 변수로 진행되었다. SHCC는 설계기준압축강도 50 MPa이며, 섬유는 PVA 섬유를 2.2% 혼입하였다. 배합에 혼입된 수축저감제는 상변이 물질로 수화현상으로 발생되는 열을 흡수 또는 방출하여 급격한 수축 및 팽창을 제어하는 물질이다. 수축저감제의 혼입에 대한 영향은 선변형 길이변화 실험과 압축, 인장 및 휨 성능의 측면에서 평가되었으며, 수축저감제를 혼입할 경우 초기 재령에서의 수축량이 감소되었다. 또한 수축저감제를 혼입함에 따라 균열 분산 성능과 인장 및 휨 성능이 개선되었다.

폴리머 함침 탄소섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 역학적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Cement Composite Impregnated in Polymer)

  • 본 연구는 고강도 고내구성이면서 신뢰성이 높은 폴리머 함침 탄소섬유보강 시멘트복합에의 개발 응용을 위한 여러 가지 특성을 검토하기 위하여, 복합체는 PAN계 및 Pitch계 탄소섬유, 조강포틀랜드 시멘트, Silica Powder 및 폴리머 함침재를 사용하여 제조하였고, 배합조건별, 재령별, 그리고 양생조건별로 역학적특성, 동결융해저항성 및 장기변형특성에 관한 실험연구를 행하였다. 연구결과, CFRC의 Flow값은 CF혼입율 증가에 따라 거의 직선적으로 저하하였고, 폴리머 함침 CFRC의 압축 인장 휨강도는 CF혼입율 증대에 따라 오토클래브 양생 및 기건양생의 경우에 비하여 현저히 증대하였으며, 또한 월등히 높은 강도를 나타내었다. 그리고, 인자응력-변형관계 및 휨응력-처짐관계는 기건양생 및 오토클래브 양생의 경우 연성적인 비선형을 나타낸 데 비하여 폴리머함침의 경우는 거의 직선적 으로 변화하였고, 동결융해저항성, 건조수촉변형특성 및 내크리프 특성도 다른 양생 방법의 경우에 비하여 크게 개선됨을 확인하였다.

  • Hardened cement paste is mainly affected by corrosion of sulphate and chlorine ions in sea water. In this investigation, many specimens were made with the cement clinker minerals such as C3S, C3A, C4AF and their mixture according to cement composition added various blending materials. After the specimens were immersed in 4% MgSO4 and MgCl2 solutions, the product of reaction, the microstructure of specimen and Ca+2 ion leached in the solution were studied. The formation of Ca(OH)2 in the specimen of C3S is reduced relatively by adding pozzolanic admixtures. The chlorine ion is easily diffuse into the C3S specimen and produced CaCl2 compound, and it makes the specimen porous by leaching out itself into the solution. The specimen of C3A, C4AF are broken down by expanding reaction of ettringite and gypsum compound produced in the MgSO4 solution. At a later period, the ettringite is transformed into gypsum and 5MgO.2Al2O3·15H2O. The C3A in the MgCl2 solution combines chlorine ion to form Friedel's salt and prevents the diffusion reaction of chlorine ion into the specimen. Granulated slag shows inferior effect on the resistance of the specimen in MgSO4 solution by forming ettringite and gypsum, but good result in MgCl2 solution. Pozzolanic materials, on the whole, offer noticable effect on the resistance of the specimen in both solutions.

고로슬래그미분말 및 강섬유를 적용한 고유동 흙막이 벽체 재료의 성능 평가 (Performance of High-Flowable Retaining Wall Material Using Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag and Steel Fiber)

  • 본 연구는 고로슬래그미분말(SG) 및 강섬유(SF)를 적용한 고유동 흙막이 벽체 재료(RWM)의 역학적 성능을 평가하기 위한 것으로써, 흙막이 벽체 재료의 재료분리저항성, 유동성, 연행공기량을 확보하기 위하여 고성능감수제, 공기연행제 및 증점안정화제를 굳지 않은 흙막이 벽체 재료에 적정량을 사용하였다. 흙막이 벽체 재료 경화체의 강도특성을 고찰하기 위하여 압축, 할열 인장 및 휨강도를 소정의 재령에서 측정하였으며, 표면전기저항, 흡수율 실험을 통하여 흙막이 벽체 재료의 역학적 성능을 평가하였다. 실험결과에 따르면 SGC 배합은 OPC 배합에 비하여 대체적으로 우수한 성능을 나타내었으며, SF는 흙박이 벽체 재료의 역학적 성능향상에 효과적인 것으로 조사되었다. 특히, SG의 사용은 흙막이 벽체 재료의 장기강도 발현 뿐만 아니라 차수성능 향상에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

The Properties of Mortar Mixtures Blended with Natural, Crushed, and Recycled Fine Aggregates for Building Construction Materials

  • In this research, the possible applicability of mixture blended with natural, crushed, and recycled fine aggregate are discussed. The fresh and hardened properties of mortar using blended fine aggregates are monitored depending on various blending ratio of fine aggregates. Newly developed ternary diagram was also utilized for better interpretation of the data. It was found that air content increased and unit weight decreased as recycled fine aggregate content increased. With moisture type processing of recycled fine aggregate, the mortar flow was not negatively affected by increase in the recycled fine aggregate content. The ternary diagram is found to be an effective graphical presentation tool that can be used for the quality evaluation of mortar using blended fine aggregate.

A simple test method to assess slump flow and stability of self-compacting concrete

  • Establishment of test methods to assess the fresh properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) are required to ensure the homogeneity in fresh and hardened states. This paper discusses the suitability of a simple test method for assessing the slump flow and stability of SCC by testing on self-compacting mortar (SCM) fraction. The proposed test method aims at investigating slump flow diameter test and sieve stability test of SCC by testing SCM fraction with a plunger penetration apparatus. A central composite modeling design was performed to evaluate the effects of water/cement ratio (W/C), superplasticizer dosage (SP) and powder marble content (MP) on slump flow diameter, stability and plunger penetration test of fresh SCC. The responses of the derived statistical models are slump flow (Sf), sieve stability (S) and plunger penetration (P). Relationships obtained in this study show acceptable correlations between plunger penetration test value and slump flow diameter test results and stability. It should note that the developed relationships are very useful to predict slump flow diameter and stability of studied SCC mixtures by carrying out a simple plunger penetration test on its mortar, which can save labour and time in laboratory experiments.

  • Recently inappropriate aggregates are used as a raw material for ready-mixed concretes, due to the shortage of natural aggregate resources and the prohibition of their extraction for the environmental protection. We, therefore, have conducted experiments to obtain some knowledge of properties of domestic aggregates and to investigate subsequent changes in the properties of the fresh and hardened concretes. To this end, aggregates currently used in 13 domestic ready-mixed concrete plants were collected. Most of aggregate used in this experiment satisfied the KS in density and unit weight. But some of the aggregates have the particle size distribution that can effect bad influence on concrete. In this experiment the aggregates are found to have a bad particle size distribution, resulting in high amount of a unit water content and a unit cement content in concrete.
