Purpose: In order to clarify the carcinogenesis mechanism from chronic atrophic gastritis toward gastric cancer, we measured the pepsinogen I and II and compared their ratio with several clinical findings. Materials and Methods: We measured the preoperative serum pepsinogen I and II by using a radio-immunoassay and compared their ratio with several clinical findings, such as tumor size, mucinous vs non-mucinous tumor, cell differentiation, tumor location, depth of invasion, lymph-node status, Lauren's classification, and peritumoral atrophy in 103 consecutive patients with gastric adenocarcinomas who had received resections at Bundang CHA Hospital during the period from July 2003 to February 2005. Results: There were significant differences in the serum pepsinogen I/II ratio between patients with mucinous vs non-mucinous tumors (n=4 vs 9 and mean pep I/II=1.29 vs. 2.99, p=0.0288), with tumor size more than and less than $10cm^2$ (n=55 vs. 48 and mean pep I/II=2.64 vs. 3.24, p=0.0491), and with or without peritumoral atrophy (n=94 vs. 9 and mean pep I/II=2.83 vs. 3.89, p=0.0466). In patients with peritomoral atrophy, the pepsinogen I/II ratio was also lower in larger tumors (n=48 vs. 46 and mean pep I/II=2.44 vs. 3.23, p=0.0083). Well-differentiated carcinomas showed significantly lower serum pep I/II ratios than signet-ring-ceil types. There was no correlation between serum pep I/II ratio and tumor location, depth of invasion, lymph-node status, or Lauren's classification Conclusion: We proved the existence of a correlation between serum pepsinogen level and musosal atrophy, but these results are not sufficient for clinical application of serum pepsinogen level as a screening tool for gastric cancer.
About 3,000 bacterial colonies with esterase activities were isolated from soil samples by enrichment culture and halo-size on Luria broth-tributyrin (LT) plates. The colonies were assayed for esterase activity in microtiter plates using enantiomerically pure (R)- and (S)-2-phenylbutyric acid resorufin ester (2PB-O-res) as substrates. Two enantioselective strains (JH2 and JH13) were selected by the ratio of initial rate of hydrolysis of enantiomerically pure (R)- and (S)-2-PB-O-res. When cell pellets were used, both strains showed high apparent enantioselectivity ($E_{app}>100$) for (R)-2PB-O-res and were identified as Exiguobacterium acetylicum. The JH13 strain showed high esterase activity on p-nitrophenyl acetate (pNPA), but showed low lipase activity on p-nitrophenyl palmitate (pNPP). The esterase was located in the soluble fraction of the cell extract. The crude intracellular enzyme preparation was stable at a pH range from 6.0 to 11.0.

In this study, several kinds of active carbons with high specific surface area and micro pore structure were prepared from the coconut shell charcoal using chemical activation method. The physical property of prepared active carbon was investigated by experimental variables such as activating chemical agents to char coal ratio, flow rate of inert gas and temperature. It was shown that chemical activation with KOH and NaOH was successfully able to make active carbons with high surface area of $1900{\sim}2500m^2/g$ and mean pore size of 1.85~2.32 nm. The coin cell using water-based binder in the electrolyte of LiPF6 dissolved in mixed organic solvents (EC:DMC:EMC=1:1:1 vol%) showed better capacity than that of oil-based binder. Also, it was found that the coin cell of water-based binder shows an improved cycling performance and coulombic efficiency.

Abstract Scaffold used as a carrier of the cell has been actively conducted using plenty of technology in tissue engineering. ${\beta}$-tricalcium phosphate (${\beta}$-TCP) material has shown good biocompatibility and osteoconductive ability when it was implanted as a bone graft substitute in osseous defect in human and animal studies for bone regeneration. In this study, we fabricated the blended polycaprolactone (PCL) and ${\beta}$-TCP scaffold by the polymer deposition system (PDS). The PCL/${\beta}$-TCP scaffold was fabricated at a temperature of $110^{\circ}C$, pressure of 650 kPa, and scan velocity of 100 mm/sec. The Overall geometry and size of the scaffold were fixed circle type with a diameter of 10 mm and a height of 4 mm. PCL/${\beta}$-TCP scaffold was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Cell attachment and proliferation of the scaffold containing 30 wt% ${\beta}$-TCP was superior to those containing 10 wt% and 20 wt% ${\beta}$-TCP.
A novel self-humidifying composite membrane for the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) at low humidity condition was developed. The $Pt/TiO_2 catalyst particles were synthesized via supercritical impregnation methods. Pt precursor was dissolved in supercritical carbon dioxide and impregnated onto $TiO_2$ particles. Pt precursors were platinum(II) acetylacetonate, Dimethyl(1,5-cyclooctadiene) platinum(II) and we controlled the ratio of Pt to $TiO_2$ The impregnated Pt precursor was converted to $TiO_2$ supported Pt nanoparticle under various reducing conditions. $TiO_2$ catalyst particles were dispersed uniformly into the Nafion solution, and then $Pt/TiO_2/Nafion$composite membrane was prepared using solution-cast method. The size, dispersion and content of the platinum had been characterized with Transmission Electron Micrograph (TEM), X-ray diffract ion (XRD) and Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES). The cell performance with the self-humidifying composite membrane was compared with a recast Nafion membrane under both humidified and dry conditions at 65 $^{\circ}C$.
Peripheral nerve sheath tumors (PNSTs) are heterogeneous tumor groups of peripheral nerves that originate from either Schwann cells or modified Schwann cells, fibroblasts, or perineural cells. In this study, signalment and clinical data such as tumor location and size were evaluated for 15 cases of PNSTs collected from local animal hospitals. The mean age of dogs with malignant PNST was higher than that of dogs with benign PNST. Additionally, the male to female ratio in dogs with PNST was 1 : 4. In dogs with PNST, the primary sites of involvement were the hindlimb, forelimb, around the mammary glands, the neck, and the abdomen. Histiopathologic examination revealed that eight PNSTs were benign and seven were malignant. The tumor cells were composed of loosely to densely arranged interlacing bundles and wavy spindle cells arranged in short bundles, palisading, and whirling. High mitotic figures, local invasion, multifocal necrosis and atypical multinucleated giant cells were observed in malignant PNST cases. All PNSTs showed immunoreactivity for vimentin and S-100. However, only 93.3% and 73.3% were immunoreactive for NSE and GFAP, respectively. Overall, these results indicated that immunohistochemical markers such as vimentin, S-100 and NSE could help confirm the diagnosis of canine PNSTs.
With the incitation to reduce power consumption and the aggressive reuse of spectral resources, there is an inevitable trend towards the deployment of small-cell networks by decomposing a traditional single-tier network into a multi-tier network with very high throughput per network area. However, this cell size reduction increases the complexity of network operation and the severity of cross-tier interference. In this paper, we consider a downlink two-tier network comprising of a multiple-antenna macrocell base station and a single femtocell access point, each serving multiples users with a single antenna. In this scenario, we treat the following beamforming optimization problems: i) Total transmit power minimization problem; ii) mean-square error balancing problem; and iii) interference power minimization problem. In the presence of perfect channel state information (CSI), we formulate the optimization algorithms in a centralized manner and determine the optimal beamformers using standard convex optimization techniques. In addition, we propose semi-decentralized algorithms to overcome the drawback of centralized design by introducing the signal-to-leakage plus noise ratio criteria. Taking into account imperfect CSI for both centralized and semi-decentralized approaches, we also propose robust algorithms tailored by the worst-case design to mitigate the effect of channel uncertainty. Finally, numerical results are presented to validate our proposed algorithms.

As circuits become increasingly complex and devices sizes shrinks, the demands placed on global planarization of higher level. Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) is an indispensable manufacturing process used to achieve global planarity. In the CMP process, Diamond Disk (DD) plays an important role in the maintenance of removal rate. According to studies, the cause of removal rate decrease in the early or end stage of diamond disk lifetime comes from pad surface change. We also presented pad cutting rate (PCR) as a useful cutting ability index of DD and studied PCR trend about variable parameters that including size, hardness, shape of DD and RPM, pressure of conditioner It has been shown that PCR control ability of pressure and shape is superior to RPM and size. High pressure leads to a decrease of cell open ratio of pad surface because polyurethane of pad is destroyed by pressure. So low pressure high RPM condition is a proper removal rate sustain. By examining correlations between RPM and pressure of conditioner, it has been shown that PCR safe zoneto satisfy proper removal rate has the range 0.06mm/hr to 0.12mm/hr.

Reflective mode liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) microdisplay is the major technology that can produce extremely high-resolution displays. A very large number of pixels can be packed onto the CMOS circuit with integrated drivers that can be projected to any size screen. Large size direct-view thin film transistor (TFT) LCDs becomes very difficult to make and to drive as the information content increases. However, the existing LC alignment technology for the LCoS cell fabrication is still the mechanical rubbing method, which is prone to have minor defects that are not visible normally but can be detrimental if projected to a large screen. In this paper, application of photo-alignment to LCoS fabrication is presented. The alignment is done by three-step exposure process. A MTN $90^{\circ}$ mode is chose as to evaluate the performance of this technique. The comparison with rubbing mode shows the performance of photo-alignment is comparable and even better in some aspect, such as sharper RVC curve and higher contrast ratio.
The present research work reports a low temperature ($40^{\circ}C$) chemical precipitation technique for synthesizing hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles of spherical morphology through a simple reaction of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate and di-ammonium hydrogen phosphate at pH 11. The crystallinity of the single-phase nanoparticles could be improved by calcinating at $600^{\circ}C$ in air. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) revealed the synthesized HAp is stable up to $1200^{\circ}C$. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) studies confirmed the formation of spherical nanoparticles with average size of $23.15{\pm}2.56nm$ and Ca/P ratio of 1.70. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) isotherm of the nanoparticles revealed their porous structure with average pore size of about 24.47 nm and average surface area of $78.4m2g^{-1}$. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to confirm the formation of P-O, OH, C-O chemical bonds. Cytotoxicity and MTT assay on MG63 osteogenic cell lines revealed nontoxic bioactive nature of the synthesized HAp nanoparticles.
