연료전지용 팽창기-압축기 개념설계 (Conceptual design of expander-compressor unit for fuel cell systems)

  • This paper introduces conceptual design of scroll expander-compressor unit for fuel cell. Since air discharged out of the fuel cell stack after reaction has still high pressure energy, some power can be extracted out of it by directing it to pass through an expanding device so that the extracted power can be used to drive an auxiliary compressor. For this purpose, a scroll type expander coupled to a scroll type compressor was designed: orbiting scroll of the expander and that of the compressor were made to share three of common drive pins installed in the mid frame plate, and central cavity in the mid-plate was used as a back pressure chamber to provide axial compliance for both orbiting scrolls. Performance analysis for the expander showed that the shaft power of the expander could reduce the auxiliary power consumption in the fuel cell by about one third at the scroll clearance of $10{\mu}m$.

단위 셀간 성능편차 및 접속접안 강하 초소화를 위한 극소형 직접메탄올 연료전지 스택의 설계 및 제작 (MEMS-based Direct Methanol Fuel Cells and Their Stacks for the Reduction of Cell-to-Cell Deviation and Interconnection Voltage Drop)

  • We present a MEMS-based portable Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (micro-DFMC), featured by a platinum sputtered microcolumn electrode and a built-in fuel chamber containing a limited amount of methanol fuel. Also presented is a micro-DMFC stack structure having a common electrolyte sandwiched by the microcolumn electrodes. The single cells with ME16 and PE16 electrodes show the maximum power densities of $31.04{\pm}0.29{\mu}W/cm^2$ and $9.75{\pm}0.29{\mu}W/cm^2$, respectively; thus indicating the microcolumn electrode (ME16) generates the power density (3.2 times) higher than the planar electrode (PE16). The single cell tests of ME16 and ME4 electrodes (Fig.8) show the maximum power of $31.04{\pm}0.29{\mu}W/cm^2$, and $25.23{\pm}2.7{\mu}W/cm^2$, respectively; thus demonstrating the increased window frame reduces the normalized standard power deviation (standard deviation over the average power). The normalized deviation of 0.11 in ME4 cell has been reduced to 0.01 in ME16 cell due to the increased window frames. The maximum power density of 4-cell stack is 15.7 times higher than that of the single cell. 4-cell stack produces the power capacity of 20.3mWh/g during 980min operation at the voltage of 450mV with the load resistance of $800{\Omega}$.

OFDM 기반의 셀룰러 시스템을 위한 동기화 및 셀 탐색 기법 (A Synchronization & Cell Searching Technique for OFDM-based Cellular Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDM 기반의 셀룰러 시스템의 하향 링크를 위해 동기화 프리앰블 및 셀 탐색 프리앰블을 포함한 프리앰블 구조를 제안하고, 프리앰블을 이용한 효과적인 하향 링크 동기화 및 셀 탐색 기법을 제안한다. 동기화 과정은 연속적 또는 주기적으로 전송되는 하향 링크 신호를 이용한 초기 심볼 타이밍 추정과 동기화 프리앰블을 이용한 프레임 동기, 시간 및 주파수 동기의 수행 과정으로 이루어지며, 셀 탐색은 셀 탐색 프리앰블을 이용하여 이루어진다. 각각의 동기화와 셀 탐색 과정의 성능을 분석하구 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통하여 성능 분석 결과를 확인한다. 모의 실험을 통하여 제안된 프리앰블을 이용한 동기화와 셀 탐색 알고리즘은 열악한 셀룰러 환경에서도 강건한 성능을 보임을 확인한다.

어류 프레임 농축액과 시판 사골 농축액의 위생적 및 영양적 특성 비교 (Comparison on Sanitary and Nutritional Characteristics Between Skipjack Tuna Ktsuwonus pelamis Frame and Commercial Beef Bone Extract Concentrates)

  • There is increasing interest in developing flavor-enriched concentrate using byproducts of skipjack tuna Ktsuwonus pelamis as a replacement for commercial beef bone extract concentrate (CBB-EC). This study was compared on sanitary and nutritional characteristics between skipjack tuna frame extract concentrate (ST-EC) and CBB-EC as a control of skipjack tuna frame extract concentrate. The moisture contents of CBB-EC and ST-EC 41.4-4.9% and 45.3%, respectively. The results of viable cell counts and E. coli assays suggested that CBB-EC and ST-EC is a safe and sanitary for use in food. There were no differences in peroxide values among CBB-ECs. The total amino acid contents in CBB-EC and ST-EC were 25.6-29.3 g/100 g and 37.9 g/100 g, respectively, and the major amino acids present glutamic acid, proline, glycine, alanine and arginine. Regardless of kinds of the mineral, mineral contents of ST-EC higher than those of CBB-EC. The major fatty acids were 16:0, 18:0 and 18:1n-9 in CBB-EC, 16:0, 18:1n-9 and 22:6n-3 in ST-EC. These results can be used as background information to develop flavor-enriched concentrates from byproducts of skipjack tuna as replacement for CBB-EC.

영상콘텐츠용 디지털액자의 제스처 인터랙션 방식 (Gesture Interaction of Digital Frame for Visual Image Content)

  • 디지털 카메라 및 카메라폰의 보급으로 언제 어디서나 디지털 사진을 찍고 즐기는 시대가 되었다. 이렇게 생활 속에서 생성되는 디지털 사진 콘텐츠의 양은 증가하고 있는데 그것을 감상하는 방법은 초기에는 휴대폰을 통해 보거나 PC를 통해 보는 것이 고작이었다. 휴대폰의 작은 화면이나 책상 앞의 PC모니터를 통해 보는 사진은 사진이라는 매체의 감상 행태와 어울리지 않았고, 그에 따라 사진감상 용도에 최적화된 디지털 액자라는 새로운 제품의 시장이 열리게 되었다. 지금까지 몇 년 간 여러 제조사에서 다양한 디지털액자 제품이 출시되고 있는데 시장에서 판매되는 대부분의 디지털액자들이 그 형태적 특성으로 인해 비슷한 인터랙션 방식을 갖고 있고, 그러한 인터랙션 방식이 사진액자라는 제품에 대해 사용자들이 갖고 있는 직관적 멘탈모델을 충족시켜주지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 사용자의 사용 행태와 제품이 놓이는 공간적 환경에 따라 한층 우수한 사용성과 감성적 만족을 제공할 수 있는 디지털액자의 인터랙션 방식을 제안하고자 한다.

Molecular Characterization of Porcine DNA Methyltransferase I

  • During normal early embryonic development in mammals, the global pattern of genomic DNA methylation undergoes marked. changes. The level of methylation is high in male and female gametes. Thus, we cloned the cDNA of the porcine DNA methyltransferase 1 (Dnmt1) gene to promote the efficiency of the generation of porcine clones. In this study, porcine Dnmt1 cDNA was sequenced, and Dnmt1 mRNA expression was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase reaction (RT-PCR) in porcine tissues during embryonic development. The porcine Dnmt1 cDNA sequence showed more homology with that of bovine than human, mouse, and rat. The complete sequence of porcine Dnmt1 cDNA was 4,774-bp long and consisted of an open reading frame encoding a protein of 1611 amino acids. The amino acid sequence of porcine DNMT1 showed significant homology with those of bovine (91%), human (88%), rat (76%), and mouse (75%) Dnmt1. The expression of porcine Dnmt1 mRNA was detected during porcine embryogenesis. The mRNA was detected at stages of porcine preimplantation development (1-cell, 2-cell, 4-cell, 8-cell, morula, and blastocyst stages). It was also abundantly expressed in tissues (lung, ovary, kidney and somatic cells). Further investigations are necessary to understand the complex links between methyltransferase 1 and the transcriptional activity in cloned porcine tissues.

Generation of knockout mouse models of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors by engineered nuclease-mediated genome editing

  • Cell cycle dysfunction can cause severe diseases, including neurodegenerative disease and cancer. Mutations in cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors controlling the G1 phase of the cell cycle are prevalent in various cancers. Mice lacking the tumor suppressors $p16^{Ink4a}$ (Cdkn2a, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2a), $p19^{Arf}$ (an alternative reading frame product of Cdkn2a,), and $p27^{Kip1}$ (Cdkn1b, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1b) result in malignant progression of epithelial cancers, sarcomas, and melanomas, respectively. Here, we generated knockout mouse models for each of these three cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors using engineered nucleases. The $p16^{Ink4a}$ and $p19^{Arf}$ knockout mice were generated via transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs), and $p27^{Kip1}$ knockout mice via clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated nuclease 9 (CRISPR/Cas9). These gene editing technologies were targeted to the first exon of each gene, to induce frameshifts producing premature termination codons. Unlike preexisting embryonic stem cell-based knockout mice, our mouse models are free from selectable markers or other external gene insertions, permitting more precise study of cell cycle-related diseases without confounding influences of foreign DNA.

OFCDM시스템에서 PCSSCG를 이용한 셀 탐색에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Cell search Using PCSSCG in Broadband OFCDM Systems)

  • 비동기 OFCDM 시스템 환경에서 초기 동기을 위한 셀 탐색 방법이 다음과 같이 3단계 방법으로 수행된다. 셀 탐색 1단계에서 보호구간의 상관을 이용한 심볼동기 즉, FFT 윈도우 타이밍 추정과 탐색 2 단계는 주파수영역에서 CSSC(Cell Specific Scrambling Code) 위상 천이성질을 이용한 CPICH(Common Pilot Channel)의 상관을 획득함으로써 프레임 타이밍 및 CSSC 그룹을 검출하고 마지막으로 탐색 3 단계에서 그룹 안에 속한 CSSC 위상 즉, 최적의 CSSC를 얻게 된다. 본 논문에서는 탐색 2단계에서 기존의 CPICH만을 이용한 셀 탐색방법을 변형한 PCSSCG(partial cell specific scrambling code group)를 이용하여 성능을 거의 같은 수준으로 유지하면서 이동국의 복잡도를 줄이는 셀 탐색 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 모의실험을 통하여 기존의 방법과 비교 검증하였다.

Isolation and Characterization of the Ribosomal Protein 46 Gene in Drosophila melanogaster

  • A cDNA clone coding for ribosomal protein 46 (rp46) which is a component of 60S ribosomal large subunit has been identified from Drosophila melanogaster. A cDNA clone encoding S. cerevisiae rp46 was used as a probe to screen a Drosophila larvae cDNA library. The DNA sequence analysis revealed that the cDNA coding for Drosophils rp46 contains a complete reading frame of 153 nucleotides coding for 51 amino acids. The deduced amino acid sequence showed 71-75% homology with those of other eukaryotic organisms. Northern blot analysis showed that about 1-kb rp46 transcripts are abundant throughout fly development. Whole mount embryonic mRNA in situ hybridization also showed no preferential distribution of the transcripts to any specific region. The chromosomal in situ hybridization revealed that the identified gene is localized at position 60C on the right arm of the second polytene chromosome with a possibility of single copy.

  • As multimedia communication services have been widely spreading, the amount of video traffic is rapidly increasing in B-ISDN environment based on the ATM technology. The image quality of MPEG services is very sensitive to the cell losses in ATM network, since each cell contains information needed at decoding process. Since the number of cells in each frame of MPEG is variable, this video smoothing technology need to prepare a buffer for no overflow or underflow at the transmission, requires that some number of cells be taken to the buffer in client before the playback of video. To ensure the high quality image of video, the video smoothing is scheduled by a Group of Picture unit. In this paper, we then apply the theory to reds nightmare encoded in MPEG, and find minimum smoothing buffer size, initial buffer size. It can be used to study the smoothing of stored video.
