Gap junctional channels, allowing rapid intercellular communication and synchronization of coupled cell activities, play crucial roles in many signaling processes, including a variety of cell activities. Consequently, a modulation of the gap junctional intercellular communication (GJIC) should be a potential pharmacological target. In the present, the GJIC of a epithelial-derived rat mammary cells (BICR-M1Rk) was assessed in the presence of ginseng saponin, by using an established method of scrape-loading dye transfer assay. The transfer of Lucifer yellow (diameter: 1.2 nm) among the neighboring BICR-M1Rk cells, in which connexin43 (Cx43) is a major gap junction channel-forming protein, was significantly retarded at a concentration of $10{\mu}g/ml$ ginseng saponin. By using both methods of RT-PCR and Western blotting, it was demonstrated that ginseng saponin modulated neither the mRNA synthesis of Cx43 nor the translational process of Cx43. This ginseng saponin-induced modification of GJIC was a similar phenomenon observed under the $\beta$-glycyrrhetinic acid treatment, a well-known gap junction channel blocker. Taken together, it is reasonable to conclude that the ginseng saponin inhibits GJIC only by modulating the gating property of gap junction channels.
Pt-Ni nanocatalysts were loaded on carbon black by spontaneous reduction reaction of platinum (II) acetylacetonate and nickel (II) acetylacetonate, and they were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), energy dispersive x-ray analyzer (EDS), BET surface area and fuel cell test station. The distribution of the Pt and Ni nanoparticles was observed by TEM, and the loading weight of Pt-Ni nanocatalysts on the carbon black was measured by TGA. The elemental ratio of Pt and Ni was estimated by EDS. It was found that the loading weight of Pt-Ni nanoparticles was 5.54 wt%, and the elemental ratio of Pt and Ni was 0.48:0.35. Specific surface area was measured by BET analysis instrument and I-V characteristics were estimated.
In this paper are presented main power and gasdynamic characteristics of C-l6VK hypersonic test cell of Research Test Center of CIAM. Gasdynamic adjustment of the C-l6VK test cell was carried out with the working section constructed on scheme of Ramjet/scramjet test in free stream. Gasdynamic adjustment was conducted stage by stage in tile following sequence. First, check and preparation of all technical systems and checking measuring system. Than determination of the characteristics of test cell on cold (without the heating of air at entrance) regime and determination of the characteristics of test cell on regimes with the heating of air. Finally determination of tile characteristics of test cell with the loading of the working part by object. On tile final stage of gasdynamic adjustment two experiments with tile axisymmetric Scramjet model loaded into the working part of test cell were conducted. The first experiment was conducted with the purpose of determination of flow parameters with the object leaded into the working part and verification of experiment cyclogram. The second experiment was conducted with injection of hydrogen into the combustion chamber of object, that is tile conditions on test cell simulated Scramjet flight Mach number M = 6. Such methodology of gasdynamic adjustment allows to determine influence of experimental object on flow parameters in the working part at different conditions of experiment (with the burning in combustion chamber of object and without the homing), and also to compare flow characteristics in the object duct.
The column type is used as the sensing element of the load cell to measure the large force in the range of 10$^4$~ 10$^{7}$ N. However. it is not easy to handle the load with large capacity due to its size. It is, therefore, necessary to design a compact load cell with a low aspect ratio. Thus this paper showed the characteristic evaluation of compact load cell with respect to the shape of supporting plate. The supporting plate of the load cell was an annular type with inner(D$_{i}$) and outer(D$_{o}$) diameters. Using the strain distribution obtained from FEM. the supporting plate was designed to get the stable output voltage of the load cell. The three designed supporting plates were manufactured, and the result of characteristic experiment of the load cell, using the 10 MN hydraulic force standard machine, was compared with FEM.M.M.
For the fabrication of high efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst of oxygen electrode for PEM URFC (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Unitized Regenerative Fuel Cell), which is a promising energy storage and conversion system using hydrogen as the energy medium, several bifunctional electrocatalysts were prepared and tested in a single cell URFC system. The catalysts for oxygen electrode revealed fuel cell performance in the order of Pt black > PtIr > PtRuOx > PtRu ~ PtRuIr > PtIrOx, whereas water electrolysis performance in the order of PtIr ~ PtIrOx > PtRu > PtRuIr > PtRuOx ~ Pt black. Considering both reaction modes PtIr was the most effective elctrocatalyst for oxygen electrode of present PEM URFC system. In addition, the water electrolysis performance was significantly improved when Ir or IrOx was added to Pt black just 1 wt.% without the decrease of fuel cell performance. Based on the catalyst screening and the optimization of catalyst composition and loading, the optimum catalyst electrodes for PEM URFC were $1.0mg/cm^2$ of Pt black as hydrogen electrode and $2.0mg/cm^2$ of PtIr (99:1) as oxygen electrode.
유기물 부하 $16gCOD_{cr}/\ell.day$16gCODcr/day에서 흡착된 마생물의 양은 157mg/g이다.
Photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) play an important role in water purification, and their application is beneficial for sustainable aquaculture. However, maintaining the microbial stability of PSB from subculturing to preservation is a challenging task. Since improvement in the microbial stability of PSB is a crucial parameter, optimized conditions for cell immobilization and lyophilization were investigated. In PSB immobilization, 0.1-M CaCl2 was found to be the most effective divalent metal ion solution in terms of cost-effectiveness, resulting in beads with a 4-mm diameter and high loading (1.91×109 CFU/mL) of viable cells. Maintenance of cell viability, external appearance, and color of PSB beads was best in 3.5% NaCl during storage. In lyophilization, the addition of skim milk (9%) and dextrose (2%) as cryoprotective additives allowed the highest cell viability. Over an 18-week shrimp breeding period, when optimally manufactured beads and lyophilized powder of PSB were applied to shrimp aquaculture water, NH4+, NO3-, and NO2- were more effectively removed by 55%, 100%, and 100%, respectively, compared to controls. Thus, microbial stability of PSB through optimized cell immobilization and lyophilization was successfully enhanced, enabling a wide application.

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, HAP) particles have attracted a great deal of attention in biomedical fields due to their good biocompatibility, bioactivity and fairly broad applications as drug delivery, dental implant, bone cement, and etc. Thus, many researchers have made an effort to add new functionalities such as luminescence, drug delivery, and bone regeneration properties up to HAP powders by controlling their nanostructure as well as composition. In this research, the mesoporous strontium substituted HAP (Sr-HAP) microspheres were synthesized using a hydrothermal method. In this synthesis, aspartic acid monomers were utilized to form microsphere by controlling surface energy of HAP particles and Sr ions were substituted into Ca ion sites, which induced luminescence property in HAP powders. Moreover, the change in the amount of Sr substitution was found to influence the particle size, morphology, and concurrently surface area, which led to changing drug loading as well as drug release property. The amount of Sr influences the morphology, luminescent properties, particle size, surface area cell viability and drug loading property, which are investigated by SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, BET, XPS and in vitro test such as MTT assay and drug release test. In particular, the multifunctional Sr-HAP with molar ratios of 0.25 (Sr/(Ca+Sr)) possessed the strongest luminescent property as well as the superior drug loading and sustained release properties that were correspondent with large surface area and pore size. Our study indicates that the fabricated multifunctional Sr-HAP microspheres are quite useful for bone regeneration and drug delivery.
The mechanical properties of aluminum honeycomb on the direction of axial crushing under quasistatic loading test was investigated. The crushing process was simulated numerically by full-scale finite element models. Simulations reproduce the experimental results both qualitatively as well as quantitatively. From the investigation, we suggested the constitutive model of energy absorbing honeycomb structure for large scale impact analysis. Real impact test of the WB(Moving Deformable Barrier) was carried and compared with finite element simulation. Constitutive model used in the numerical simulation had a good correlation with experiment. By suggesting the optimizing method fur honeycomb cell configuration design, relationship between cell configuration and crush strength is studied.
