Purpose: Celiac disease (CD) is one of the most prevalent food-related illnesses in children, with a global prevalence of approximately 1.4%. CD can create an emotional burden, particularly on mothers, who are mainly responsible for managing challenges related to adherence to a gluten-free diet, high food costs, and food problems in schools and social areas. There is a gap in the literature, and parental experiences of raising children with CD should be explicitly examined. This qualitative study sought to provide insights into the experiences of parents raising a child with CD in the Turkish context. Methods: This study used a descriptive qualitative research methodology and conducted individual semi-structured video-based dyadic interviews with 19 parents. Results: Participants experienced both challenges and motivators through management of their children's CD. Analyses of the interview transcripts through the data uncovered three main themes focusing primarily on parental concerns: (1) parental challenges in child's disease management, (2) supportive care needs, and (3) parental expectations. Conclusion: A multidisciplinary team should approach the child and family immediately after diagnosis, and facilities should support parents with continuing education and psychological, financial, and social assistance.
Objective: To separate/enrich tumor stem-like cells from the human esophageal carcinoma cell line OE-19 by using serum-free suspension culture and to identify their biological characteristics and radiation resistance. Methods: OE-19 cells were cultivated using adherent and suspension culture methods. The tumor stem-like phenotype of CD44 expression was detected using flow cytometry. We examined growth characteristics, cloning capacity in soft agar, and radiation resistance of 2 groups of cells. Results: Suspended cells in serum-free medium formed spheres that were enriched for CD44 expression. CD44 was expressed in 62.5% of suspended cells, but only in 11.7% of adherent cells. The suspended cells had greater capacity for proliferation and colony formation in soft agar than the adherent cells. When the suspended and adherent cells were irradiated at 5 Gy, 10 Gy, or 15 Gy, the proportion of CD44+ suspended cells strongly and weakly positive for CD44 was 77.8%, 66.5%, 57.5%; and 21.7%, 31.6%, 41.4%, respectively. In contrast, the proportion of CD44+ adherent cells strongly positive for CD44 was 18.9%, 14.%, and 9.95%, respectively. When the irradiation dose was increased to 30 Gy, the survival of the suspended and adherent cells was significantly reduced, and viable CD44+ cells were not detected. Conclusion: Suspended cell spheres generated from OE-19 esophageal carcinoma cells in serum-free stem medium are enriched in tumor stem-like cells. CD44 may be a marker for these cells.
This study was designed to elucidate the quantities of milk nutrients entrapped during cholesterol removal from milk by crosslinked $\beta$-cyclodextrin ($\beta$-CD, 0.4~1.2%, w/v) and to evaluate the amounts of the residual $\beta$-CD in cholesterol-reduced milk treated by crosslinked $\beta$-CD. The content of lactose in the control milk (without treatment by crosslinked $\beta$-CD) was 4.86%, and the amounts of lactose entrapped by crosslinked $\beta$-CD ranged from 0.00 to 0.03%. The total amounts of the entrapped short-chain free fatty acid (FFA) and free amino acid (FAA) ranged from 0.03 to 0.09 ppm and from 0.28 to $0.71{\mu}mol/mL$, respectively. The amounts of the entrapped water-soluble vitamins (L-ascorbic acid, niacin, thiamine and riboflavin) ranged from 0.02 to 0.05 ppm, 0.01 to 0.06 ppm, 0.00 to 0.06 ppm and 0.01 to 0.06 ppm, respectively. The entrapped amounts of lactose, short-chain FFAs, FAAs and water-soluble vitamins were not remarkably affected by the concentrations of crosslinked $\beta$-CD (0.4~1.2%, w/v). Only very small amounts of residual $\beta$-CD in the cholesterol-removed milk were measured (1.22~3.00 ppm). Based on the data obtained from the present study, it was concluded that the amounts of entrapped nutrients were negligible during cholesterol removal from milk by crosslinked $\beta$-CD, and only trace amounts of residual $\beta$-CD were present in cholesterol-removed milk.
The objective of the present study was to compare the chemical and sensory properties of regular cream cheese (control) and cholesterol-reduced cream cheese manufactured using crosslinked ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin (${\beta}$-CD) or powdered ${\beta}$-CD. Crosslinked ${\beta}$-CD was made using adipic acid. The composition of cream cheese treated by the crosslinked ${\beta}$-CD was similar to the regular cream cheese. Approximately 91% of cholesterol-reduction was observed in the cheeses that were treated using ${\beta}$-CD, which was not significantly different between powdered vs. crosslinked ${\beta}$-CD treatments. Total amount of short-chain free fatty acids was significantly lower in both ${\beta}$-CD-treated cheeses than in the control cheese throughout the storage. The cheeses made by ${\beta}$-CD-treated cream produced much lower amounts of individual free amino acids than the control in all periods. Most rheological characteristics, except cohesiveness, decreased dramatically in the control compared with the cholesterol-reduced cream cheeses. In sensory attributes, both wateryness and spreadability in ${\beta}$-CD-treated cheeses were significantly higher than in the control during 8 wk storage. Sensory scores for sourness increased significantly in the control from 4 to 8 wk storage, however, those in the cream cheese made by crosslinked-${\beta}$-CD treated cream increased slowly during 8 wk storage, which was shown in the control during a 4 wk period. Therefore, the present study showed the possibility of cholesterol-reduced cream cheese manufacture.
ZnS was chemically deposited as a buffer layer alternative to CdS, for use as a Cd-free buffer layer in $Cu(In_{1-x}Ga_x)Se_2$ (CIGS) solar cells. The deposition of a thin film of ZnS was carried out by chemical bath deposition, following which the structural and optical properties of the ZnS layer were studied. For the experiments, zinc sulfate hepta-hydrate ($ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$), thiourea ($SC(NH_2)_2$), and ammonia ($NH_4OH$) were used as the reacting agents. The mole concentrations of $ZnSO_4$ and $SC(NH_2)_2$ were fixed at 0.03 M and 0.8 M, respectively, while that of ammonia, which acts as a complexing agent, was varied from 0.3 M to 3.5 M. By varying the mole concentration of ammonia, optimal values for parameters like optical transmission, deposition rate, and surface morphology were determined. For the fixed mole concentrations of $0.03M\;ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ and $0.8M\;SC(NH_2)_2$, it was established that 3.0 M of ammonia could provide optimal values of the deposition rate (5.5 nm/min), average optical transmittance (81%), and energy band gap (3.81 eV), rendering the chemically deposited ZnS suitable for use as a Cd-free buffer layer in CIGS solar cells.
Cu(In, Ga)Se2 (CIGS) 박막 태양전지는 Soda lime glass/Mo/CIGS/CdS/ZnO/ITO/Al 의 구조를 가지고 있다.
The research is the structural and optical characteristics of the Cadmium Sulfide(CdS) film, nanowires and nanobelts grown on the $Al_2O_3$ substrate using the vapor phase epitaxy method. The field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) were used to identify the shape of the surface of the nanostructures and x-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to evaluate the structural characterisitcs. As a result, the XRD was confirmed the CdS peak and the substrate peak and TEM showed single crystals with wurtzite hexagonal structure on the nanostructures. As for the optical characteristic of the nanostructures, photoluminescence(PL) and micro-raman spectrum were measured. The PL measurements confirmed the emission peak related bound exciton to neutral donor($D^0X$) peak and free exciton(FX) peak. The micro-raman spectrum showed that the peak of the nanostructures were similar to the pure crystalline CdS peak and each peak were overtone of LO phonon of the hexagonal CdS of the longitudinal optical(LO) phonon mode. Therefore, it is confirmed that the CdS nanostructures grown in this research have superior crystallinity.

As a general rule, the brazing process between cemented carbides and steel used by Silver (Ag) type brazing filler. The composition of Ag type filler were used Ag-Cu-Zn-Cd type filler mainly. But, the demand of Cadmium (Cd)-free in Ag type filler was raised recently. The reason why Cd-free in Ag brazing filler were occupied to vaporize as a CdO$_2$ when brazing process, because of Cd element was almost low boiling point of all Ag type filler elements. And, CdO$_2$ was a very harmful element for the human body. This experiment was developed Cd-freeing on Ag type filler that was used Indium (In) instead of Cd element. In this experiment, there were changed from 0 to 5% In addition in Ag brazing filler and investigated to most effective percentage of Indium. As a result, the change of In addition instead of Cd, there was a very useful element and obtained same property only 3% In added specimens compared to Cd 19% added specimens. These specimens were obtained same or more deflective strength. In this case, there were obtained 70 MPa over strength and wide brazing temperature range 650-800 C. A factor of deflective strength were influenced by composition and the shape of $\beta$ phase and between $\beta$ phase and cemented carbides interface. Indium element presented as $\alpha$ phase and non-effective factor directly, but it's occupied to solid solution hardening as a phase. $\beta$ phase were composed 84-94% Cu-Ni-Zn elements mainly. Especially, the presence of Ni element in interface was a very important factor. Influence of condensed Ni element in interface layer was increased the ductility and strength of brazing layer. Therefore, these 3% In added Ag type filler were caused to obtain a high brazing strength.
Recently, thin-film solar cells of Cu(In,Ga)$Se_2$(CIGS) have reached a high level of performance, which has resulted in a 19.9%-efficient device. These conventional devices were typically fabricated using chemical bath deposited CdS buffer layer between the CIGS absorber layer and ZnO window layer. However, the short wavelength response of CIGS solar cell is limited by narrow CdS band gap of about 2.42 eV. Taking into consideration the environmental aspect, the toxic Cd element should be replaced by a different material. It is why during last decades many efforts have been provided to achieve high efficiency Cd-free CIGS solar cells. In order to alternate CdS buffer layer, ZnS buffer layer is grown by using chemical bath deposition(CBD) technique. The thickness and chemical composition of ZnS buffer layer can be conveniently by varying the CBD processing parameters. The processing parameters were optimized to match band gap of ZnS films to the solar spectrum and exclude the creation of morphology defects. Optimized ZnS buffer layer showed higher optical transmittance than conventional thick-CdS buffer layer at the short wavelength below ~520 nm. Then, chemically deposited ZnS buffer layer was applied to CIGS solar cell as a alternative for the standard CdS/CIGS device configuration. This CIGS solar cells were characterized by current-voltage and quantum efficiency measurement.
The carrier-based differential global navigation satellite system (CD-GNSS) has been garnering significant attention as a promising technology for unmanned vehicles for its high accuracy. The CD-GNSS systems to be used for safety-critical applications should provide a certain level of integrity. The integrity of these systems must be analyzed under various conditions, including fault-free and satellite fault conditions. The systems should be able to detect the faults that can cause large biases on the user position errors and quantify the integrity risk by computing the protection level (PL) to protect the user against the faults that are left undetected. Prior work has derived and investigated the PL for the fault-free condition. In this study, the integrity of the CD-GNSS system under the fault condition is analyzed. The position errors caused by the satellite's fault are compared with the fault-free PL (PL_H0) to verify whether the integrity requirement can be met without computing the PLs for the fault conditions. The simulations are conducted by assuming the ephemeris fault, and the position errors are evaluated by changing the size of the ephemeris faults that missed detection. It was confirmed that the existing fault monitors do not guarantee that the position error under the fault condition does not exceed the PL_H0. Further, the impact of the faults on the position errors is discussed.
