The Impact of Information Systems Integration on Organization

  • A Causal Transition Model of the IT impact on organization is proposed. The model is based upon the premise that the IT impact is a multi-phase, multi-realm phenomenon, and that the IT impact in one organizational realm logically transpires to another realm, thus forming complex causal webs among them. Two exploratory research studies, the one qualitative and the other quantitative, were conductea to validate the model in a setting involving major structural reorganization of the organizations' IT function. The research results provide support for the general theory structure of the model. The findings include: ⅰ) the IT impact manifests on multiple organizational realms, with different degrees of strength, ⅱ) the impact on the realms follow a particular causal transition path among them, and ⅲ) the IT impact manifests on and through the information processing aspect of work. The results, however, indicate that people's perception of the IT impact is strongly mitigated by the IT relevance of work, and that the organization is affected as much by the structural arrangement surrounding and accompanying the IT as by the technology itself, suggesting that the IT impact is an organizational phenomenon as well as a technological phenomenon. The implications of the research results are discussed at the end.

회계정보시스템 전략적 연계의 기업성과에 대한 영향 (The Impact of Strategic Alignment of Accounting Information Systems on a Firm's Performance)

  • Using structural equation modeling, this study empirically examined the causal relationships among the level of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT), facilitation of alignment, the degree of strategic alignment of management eccounting Information systems (MAIS), and the improvement of production performance. The causal relationships between MAIS strategic alignment and information characteristics of MAIS were also investigated. The results showed that the level of AMT has a significant and positive impact on alignment facilitation. A significant causal relationship between alignment facilitation and MAIS strategic alignment was also found. It was shown that under high degrees of MAIS strategic alignment, MAIS must provide broad-scope and integrated types of Information. The causal relation-ships between MAIS strategic alignment and organizational performance were significant and positive. Thus, it is concluded that under high levels of AMT, a high degree of MAIS strategic alignment positively contributes to the improvement of production performance.

COVID-19 발생이 업종별 창업 및 폐업에 미치는 인과 영향 분석 (A Causal Analysis of COVID-19 Outbreak on Start-ups and Closures by Industry)

  • COVID-19가 유행하면서 전 세계는 예상치 못한 혼란에 빠졌다. 특히, 자영업자 수가 많은 한국 경제는 COVID-19로 인한 피해가 엄청나게 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 COVID-19 발생으로 인한 업종별 창업 및 폐업의 인과 영향(Causal Impact)을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위하여 지방행정 인허가 데이터 개방 사이트에서 2010년부터 2020년까지 11년간 발생한 창업 및 폐업 데이터 190개 업종 8,321,224건의 데이터를 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 COVID-19의 발생으로 창업이 증가한 업종은 29개(증가율 313.14% ~ 6.39%), 창업이 감소한 업종은 23개(감소율 70.62%~11.27%), 폐업이 증가한 업종은 21개(증가율 157.55% ~ 13.57%), 폐업이 감소한 업종은 18개(감소율 49.45% ~ 12.91%)로 나타났다. COVID-19 발생으로 창업이 증가하면서 폐업이 감소한 업종은 소독업, 식품운반업, 건강기능식품일반판매업이었다. COVID-19 발생으로 창업이 감소하면서 폐업이 증가한 업종은 청소년게임제공업, 단란주점영업, 일반게임제공업이었다. 본 연구의 결과가 다양한 전염성 질병을 관리하는 실무자들에게 전염성 질병 발생 상황의 인과 영향을 파악하고 대응책을 마련하는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.

인과 고리기법이 집단의사결정 과정에 미치는 행태적 연구 (A descriptive study of the impact of the causal looping method to the small group decision-making process of the Korean managers)

  • This paper presents an analysis of the impact of the causal looping method to the Korean middle managers' decision-making processes. The sample included the observations of decisions made by 70 groups with 5 to 7 members each. The results showed that the causal looping method was a strong device to help Korean managers followed value-focused decision processes, as opposite to alternative-focuses ones. The lessons from this study suggest a direction for the development of the education method to improve group decision-making processes.

The Impact of Indigenous People's Pre-existing Information on Rice Farming: Findings from Laos

  • Dissemination of information can enhance smallholder farmers' agricultural outcomes and incomes in developing countries. However, the impact evaluation for new information can be inaccurate without considering pre-existing information that the indigenous people have used. This study explores qualitative causal links between existing agricultural information used by Lao smallholder farmers on rice yield and selling price with 180 household data. We categorized the pre-existing information into weather, farming technique, input, intermediate trader, and sales price. The source of each piece of information is used as an instrumental variable to overcome the endogeneity issue between information use and agricultural outcomes. Using farming technique information positively affects rice yields by 57.1% compared to those without that information. Moreover, intermediate trader and crop sales information result in 64.5% and 60.0% higher selling prices than non-user groups. A statistically significant causal relationship exists with agricultural outcomes. The more genuine impact should be measured with a newly updated impact evaluation approach that considers this pre-existing agricultural information.

Relationships Between Corporate Social Responsibility, Firm Value, and Institutional Ownership: Evidence from Indonesia

  • This study aims to look into the causal relationships between corporate social responsibility and firm value, corporate social responsibility and institutional ownership, and firm value and institutional ownership. This study develops a triangle model of causal relationships among the three endogenous variables. Samples for this study are manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2014-2018. The model is operated in the system of simultaneous equation models using the generalized method of moments technique to estimate parameter coefficients. After controlling the effects of trade-off/balancing capital structure and managerial ownership, the research findings show a positive causal relationship between CSR and firm value and firm value and institutional ownership. Institutional ownership has a positive effect on CSR, while the effect of CSR on institutional ownership is negative in the firms without managerial ownership and positive in the firms with managerial ownership. This study finds that the causal relationship between CSR and firm value is stronger after the trade-off/balancing of capital structure is included in the model. Capital structure has a convex effect on firm value and positively impacts institutional ownership. In addition, an independent commissioner has a negative impact on CSR but has no direct impact on firm value.

Exploring the Impact of Pesticide Usage on Crop Condition: A Causal Analysis of Agricultural Factors

  • Human lifestyle is affected by the agricultural development in the last 12,000 years ago. The development of agriculture is one of the reasons that global population surged. To ensure sufficient food production for supporting human life, pesticides as a more effective and economical tools, are extensively used to enhance the yield quality and boost crop production. This study investigated the factors that affect crop production and whether the factors of pesticide usage are the most important factors in crop production using the dataset from Kaggle that provides information based on crops harvested by various farmers. Logistic regression is used to investigate the relationship between various factors and crop production. However, the logistic regression is unable to deal with predictors that are related to each other and identifying the greatest impact factor. Therefore, causal discovery is applied to address the above limitations. The result of causal discovery showed that crop condition is greatly impacted by the estimated insects count, where estimated insects count is affected by the factors of pesticide usage. This study enhances our understanding of the influence of pesticide usage on crop production and contributes to the progress of agricultural practices.

영업사원의 직무성과, 직무스트레스와 이직의도 간의 인과관계에 대한 실증적 연구 - 직무교육과 전환손실의 조절역할을 중심으로 - (An Empirical Study of the Causal Relationship between Job Performance, Job Stress, and Turnover Intention of Salesperson)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 영업사원의 이직을 조장/억제하는데 영향을 미치는 요인들을 규명하는데 있다. 이를 위해 생명보험회사에 종사하고 있는 영업사원을 대상으로 실증분석을 통해 영업사원의 직무성과, 직무스트레스와 이직의도 간의 인과관계를 검증하였다. 구체적으로 직무성과와 직무스트레스가 이직의도에 미치는 영향에서 직무갈등의 매개적 효과와 직무교육 및 전환손실의 조절적 역할에 대해 검증하는데 연구의 초점을 맞추었다. 실증분석 결과 직무성과가 높을수록 직무갈등이 감소하고, 직무스트레스가 증가할수록 직무갈등도 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 직무갈등을 통해 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 직무교육과 전환손실의 조절적 역할을 분석한 결과 직무 교육을 많이 받은 영업사원이 적게 받은 영업사원에 비해 직무성과가 직무갈등에 미치는 부(-)적 효과가 더 강한 것으로 나타났지만, 직무스트레스가 직무갈등에 미치는 효과에 대해서는 직무교육이 조정적 역할을 하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 직무갈등이 이직의도에 미치는 영향에 있어 전환손실이 조절적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

Causal Impact 분석 기법을 접목한 COVID-19 팬데믹 전·후 메타버스 애플리케이션 리뷰의 토픽 변화 분석 (Analysis of Topic Changes in Metaverse Application Reviews Before and After the COVID-19 Pandemic Using Causal Impact Analysis Techniques)

  • 가상환경 기술의 발전과 COVID-19 팬데믹으로 언택트 문화가 부상함에 따라 메타버스(Metaverse)가 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 최근 메타버스 서비스로 주목받는 "제페토" 애플리케이션에 대한 사용자들의 리뷰를 분석하여, COVID-19 팬데믹 이후 메타버스에 대한 요구사항의 변화를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2018년 9월부터 2023년 3월까지 구글플레이스토어에 작성된 "제페토" 애플리케이션 리뷰 109,662건을 수집하였으며, LDA 토픽모델링 기법을 활용하여 토픽을 추출하고, COVID-19 팬데믹이 선언된 "2020년 3월 11일"을 기준으로 전·후로 토픽이 어떻게 변화했는지 Causal Impact 기법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 애플리케이션 기능적 문제(토픽1), 보안 문제(토픽2), 애플리케이션 내 가상화폐(Zem)에 대한 불만 사항(토픽3), 애플리케이션 성능(토픽4), 개인정보 관련 문제(토픽5) 등 5가지 토픽이 추출되었으며, 이들 중 보안 문제(토픽2)가 COVID-19 팬데믹에 가장 큰 영향을 받았음이 확인하였다.

The Impact of Knowledge Management on Organizational Performance by Considering Structure and Culture in Vietnam

  • The purpose of the existing work is to inspect the impact of knowledge management on organizational performance. Business experts now appreciate how important knowledge management is for organizational performance. Earlier studies have investigated the research model with causal linkages, however, only a few of them have considered sample-selecting bias problems when analyzing the model of knowledge management on organizational performance. The number of 312 executives related to knowledge management from 312 enterprises that have been approved with quality management systems offered suitable responses for analyses. The data was employed to investigate the effect of knowledge management on organizational performance, considering sample-selecting bias. The empirical outcomes indicate that sample-selecting bias exists in the causal impact of knowledge management on organizational performance. The empirical findings are helpful to scholars of knowledge management as well as business executives by giving an insight into the casual effect of knowledge management on organizational performance with the intervention of sample-selecting bias. The acceptance of knowledge management should be tailored to improve competitive advantages that will lead to better organizational performance.
