In this paper, we synthesize ZnO wire on Si substrate by catalyst-free thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Each ZnO wire is grew up at different condition such as temperature and O2 flow rate. The Young's modulus of individual ZnO wires were estimated using quasi-static and dynamic measurements, as well as resonance frequency measurements. Using this system, current-voltage characteristics of each ZnO wire structure fabricated on a trench were measured. A new concept of electromechanical device structure combined with the piezoelectric effect of ZnO will be suggested in the end of this paper.
N-Propylsulfamic acid supported onto magnetic $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles (MNPs-PSA) was used as an efficient and magnetically recoverable catalyst for synthesis of 2H-Indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-1,6,11(13H)-trione derivatives from the three-component, one-pot condensation reaction of phthalhydrazide, aromatic aldehydes and cyclic 1,3-diones, in good to excellent yields at $100^{\circ}C$ under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst was easily separated with the assistance of an external magnetic field from the reaction mixture and reused for several consecutive runs without significant loss of its catalytic efficiency. In order to compare, the synthesis of 2H-Indazolo[ 2,1-b]phthalazine-1,6,11(13H)-trione derivatives in the presence of catalytic amount of sulfamic acid (SA) under same reaction condition was also reported.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been extensively studied owing to its superior electrical properties, especially high electron mobility, which can be applied to various nano-electronic devices. However, synthesized CNTs have a mixture of metallic and semiconducting tubes so that their separation has been a tremendous obstacle to the practical application in electronic device structures. Among the different separation methods, electrical breakdown process to selectively burn out the metallic tubes has been quite successful though it needs additional process in the fabrication of device structures. Here, we report on the selective but not perfect growth of semiconducting nanotubes via use of diluted ferritin catalyst. SWCNTs were grown on ferritin catalyst, where the concentration of the ferritin solution was changed. In this way, we could fabricate the electrical breakdown free SWCNT thin film transistors on the flexible polyimide (PI) substrate. When we used the ferritin diluted by 1/2000, ~ 60 % of the SWCNT thin film transistors showed a perfect p-type behavior with an on/off current ratio higher than $10^5$ and on-current greater than $10^{-7}$ A. We will also discuss the photo-response of such formed thin film transistors over both visible and UV light.
Sulphuric acid leaching was conducted to extract the metal values from spent refinery catalyst. More than 95% of Ni and V and 30% of Mo could be leached out in 1 M sulphuric acid and 1 hr of leaching time. The decrease in Mo leaching was due to typical characteristic of Mo matrix. The activation energies of the leaching reactions showed the dissolution process follows a diffusion control mechanism. In order to leach out all Mo, further the leaching experiments were conducted with sulfur free spent refinery catalyst. For sulfur free spent refinery catalyst, a two step process of leaching with 1 M sulphuric acid followed by sodium carbonate washing showed better leaching than a two step leaching process with sodium carbonate followed by sulphuric acid washing, with almost 99% leaching of Ni, Mo and V. Solvent extraction using LIX 841 were conducted for a leach liquor containing Ni, 2 g/L; V, 9 g/L, Mo, 0.6 g/L. More than 98% of Mo was extracted from the leach liquor at A:O ratio of 5:2 in a 2 stage process. Similarly V was extracted at A:O ratio of 5:3 in a 2 stage process with 82% of total V extraction.

Heteroepitaxial GaN nano- and micro-rods (NMRs) are one of the most promising structures for high performance optoelectronic devices such as light emitting diodes, lasers, solar cells integrated with Si-based electric circuits due to their low dislocation density and high surface to volume ratio. However, heteroepitaxial GaN NMRs growth using a metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) machine is not easy due to their long surface diffusion length at high growth temperature of MOVPE above $1000^{\circ}C$. Recently some research groups reported the fabrication of the heteroepitaxial GaN NMRs by using MOVPE with vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) technique assisted by metal catalyst. However, in the case of the VLS technique, metal catalysts may act as impurities, and the GaN NMRs produced in this mathod have poor directionallity. We have successfully grown the vertically well aligned GaN NMRs on Si (111) substrate by means of self-catalystic growth methods with pulsed-flow injection of precursors. To grow the GaN NMRs with high aspect ratio, we veried the growth conditions such as the growth temperature, reactor pressure, and V/III molar ratio. We confirmed that the surface morphology of GaN was strongly influenced by the surface diffusion of Ga and N adatoms related to the surrounding environment during growth, and we carried out theoretical studies about the relation between the reactor pressure and the growth rate of GaN NMRs. From these results, we successfully explained the growth mechanism of catalyst-free and mask-free heteroepitaxial GaN NMRs on Si (111) substrates. Detailed experimental results will be discussed.

Semiconductor nanowires are essential building blocks for various nanotechnologies including energy conversion, optoelectronics, and thermoelectric devices. Bottom-up synthetic approach utilizing metal catalyst and vapor phase precursor molecules (i.e., vapor - liquid - solid (VLS) method) is widely employed to grow semiconductor nanowires. Al has received attention as growth catalyst since it is free from contamination issue of Si nanowire leading to the deterioration of electrical properties. Al-catalyzed Si nanowire growth, however, unlike Au-Si system, has relatively narrow window for stable growth, showing highly tapered sidewall structure at high temperature condition. Although surface chemistry is generally known for its role on the crystal growth, it is still unclear how surface adsorbates such as hydrogen atoms and the nanowire sidewall morphology interrelate in VLS growth. Here, we use real-time in situ infrared spectroscopy to confirm the presence of surface hydrogen atoms chemisorbed on Si nanowire sidewalls grown from Al catalyst and demonstrate they are necessary to prevent unwanted tapering of nanowire. We analyze the surface coverage of hydrogen atoms quantitatively via comparison of Si-H vibration modes measured during growth with those obtained from postgrowth measurement. Our findings suggest that the surface adsorbed hydrogen plays a critical role in preventing nanowire sidewall tapering and provide new insights for the role of surface chemistry in VLS growth.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the heterogeneous catalytic ozonation of oxalic acid by manganese (Mn) doped-granular activated carbon (GAC). In order to observe the effect of the amount of Mn doped on GAC, catalysts were manufactured by varying the impregnated Mn concentration. In this paper, the following had labeled all sorts kinds of Mn-doped GAC were labeled with suitable names according to the amount (mM) of the concentration of dipping solution: They were each named as 'Mn20', 'Mn50', 'Mn100' and 'Mn200'. These experiments were performed in a batch reactor (0.5 L) and a semi-batch reactor (1 L) and Mn-free GAC was used as a blank catalyst. The ozone decay properties of each manufactured catalyst were firstly investigated to find out the reactivity between the aqueous ozone and the catalysts. Oxalic acid removal by catalytic ozonation was then performed to demonstrate the oxidative efficiencies of each catalyst.

The metal catalyst particles which there is as impurities on a tip part of carbon nanotube (CNT) are not good to apply it to a nano-electronic device. It was very important the opening of CNT-tip to fix a target bio material and a material to accept in CNT in a biosensor, so we performed $HNO_3$ wet etching to remove the metal catalyst particle which there was on a tip part of CNT grown up in the study and observed the opened CNT-tip with etching time. We synthesized the CNTs using a HF-PECVD method and choses the CNT length of 700 nm for the application of nano-electronic device such as a biosensor etc.. We observed the opened CNT-tip with wet etching times of $HNO_3$ (10, 30, 60 min). From the results, we observed that the CNT-tip was opened with the increase of wet etching time lively. In case of CNTs etched during 60 min, we confirmed that there was not the ratio of Ni included in CNTsI as catalyst. Conclusively, in the case of CNT etched for 60 minutes, it is completely good for application of a biosensor and, in addition, the metal-free CNTs will contribute to the application of other nanoelectronic devices.

A peroxopolyoxotungsten-based ionic hybrid was synthesized by anion-change of peroxopolyoxometalate (POM) $PW_4O{_{24}}^{3-}$ with dicationic long-chain alkyl imidazolium ionic liquids. The characterization was conducted by FT-IR, TGA, $^1H$-NMR and CHN Elemental analyses. Its catalytic performance was evaluated by the epoxidation of soybean oil with $H_2O_2$ under solvent-free condition, including testing of organic cations influence, catalytic reusability and reaction conditions. The catalyst was proved to be a highly efficient recyclable catalyst for epoxidation of various vegetable oils with $H_2O_2$, showing high $H_2O_2$ utilization efficiency, high catalytic activity, convenient recovery and good reuse ability.
The application of flip chip technology has been growing with the trend of miniaturization of electronic packages, especially in mobile electronics. Currently, several types of adhesive are used for flip chip bonding and these adhesives require some special properties; they must be solvent-free and fast curing and must ensure joint reliability against thermal fatigue and humidity. In this study, imidazole and its derivatives were added as curing catalysts to epoxy resin and their effects on the adhesive properties were investigated. Non-isothermal DSC analyses showed that the curing temperatures and the heat of reaction were dependent primarily on the type of catalyst. Isothermal dielectric analyses showed that the curing time was dependent on the amount of catalysts added as well as their type. The die shear strength increased with the increase of catalyst content while the Tg decreased. From this study, imidazole catalysts with low molecular weight are expected to be beneficial for snap curing and high adhesion strength for flip chip bonding applications.
