구순열비 석고모형에서 간접인체계측법: 직접인체계측법과의 비교 (Indirect Anthropometry on Cast Model of Cleft Lip Nose: Comparison with Direct Anthropometry)

  • Purpose: Anthropometry can be divided into two methods, direct anthropometry and indirect anthropometry. The most ideal and accurate method is a direct anthropometry. However, it is difficult to measure in the case of children because of poor cooperation, and it lacks re-productivity. Cast model has advantages of three dimensional featuring, inexpensive and easy fabrication. This study is conducted to find out an accuracy of indirect anthropometry on cast model by comparing it with direct anthropometry. Methods: Total 48 cleft lip nasal deformity patients (unilateral, 40; bilateral, 8) were included in this study. Cast models were made before surgery under general anesthesia with alginate impression material and model plaster. Eleven linear measurements among 7 landmarks were taken as direct anthropometry before surgery with Castroviejo spreading caliper. At the same time, indirect anthropometry on cast model was done at the same linear distances as well. Results: Of the total 11 linear measurements, both ala lengths, both columella lengths, nose width, projective distance between facial insertion points of the ala, projective distance between the alar base points, right nostril floor width, and columella width were statistically correlated between indirect anthropometry on cast model and direct anthropometry. However, the nasal tip protrusion and the left nostril floor width were not statistically correlated. Conclusion: Accuracy of indirect anthropometry on cast model can be influenced by cast model fabrication techniques and correct identification of landmarks. Nasal tip protrusion could be reduced by compression of the nasal tip in the process of cast model fabrication and nostril floor width can be varied by muscle relaxation of anesthetics and incorrect identification of subalare in cleft lip nasal deformity. If sufficient care is taken to make cast model and to define landmarks exactly, indirect anthropometry on cast model can be a reliable method as direct anthropometry.

A356 합금 시편의 수축공 결함형상에 대한 피로해석용 형상 모델링 방법 (On Shrinkage Cavities Shape Modeling for Fatigue Simulation of A356 Alloy Specimen)

  • During the casting process, it is possible to minimize shrinkage and blowholes by modifying the casting design. However, it is impossible to eliminate these factors completely. Therefore, mechanical design engineers apply a sufficient safety factor owing to the possibility of insufficient performances of the cast products. In this paper, prediction method of the fatigue life of cast products containing shrinkage is conducted by using CT (computed tomography) and the SSM (shape simplification method), and additional fatigue analyses are carried out. The analysis results are then compared to results from actual experiments on samples with shrinkage defects. It is found to be that the considering actual shrinkage in cast products by means of stress and fatigue analyses is more accurate and effective. It is also considered that the proposed hot spot method provides us a good tool to predict the fatigue lifes of cast product.

포워드캐스트(ForwardCast) : P2P에서의 새로운 VoD 스트리밍 방법 (ForwardCast : A New VOD Streaming Method in P2P)

  • 최근 P2P(Peer-to-Peer) 네트워크를 VOD(Video On Demand) 스트리밍에 적용하는 연구들이 활발히 발표되고 있다. VOD 스트리밍에 관한 기존 연구를 살펴보면, 클라이언트의 새로운 서비스 요청시, 초기 지연을 없애는 전송과 서비스 기각률을 최소화하는 것을 가장 중요한 목표로 삼고 있다. 본 논문은 이들 목표를 달성하기 위해서 P2P 기반의 멀티캐스팅 트리를 이용해서 효과적으로 비디오 스트리밍(streaming)을 제공하는 새로운 방법, 일명 포워드캐스트(ForwardCast)를 제안한다. 제안된 방법은, 새로운 클라이언트는 초기 지연없이(zero-delay) 비디오를 전달받고, 경우에 따라서는 데이터의 앞, 뒤 부분을 동시에 전송받기도 한다. 실험 결과, 포워드캐스트는 기존 연구에 비해서 서버 부하를 증가시키지 않으면서 기각률을 낮출 수 있었다.

반응표면분석에 의한 고 Cr 철계 오버레이 용접부의 분체침식마모 특성의 연구 (A Study on Solid Particle Erosion Wear Characteristics of High Cr White Iron Hardfacing by Response Surface Method)

  • Solid particle erosion wear characteristics of high Cr white iron hardfacing were investigated using the erosion wear test method according with the ASTM G76-95. Wear experiments, where the blast angle, blast distance and blast pressure were selected as test variables, were planned and analyzed by response surface method (RSM to evaluate the wear loss statistically and quantitatively. The measured wear losses well coincided with the calculated ones by the experimental equation. The wear loss of high Cr cast iron hardfacing was increased with blasting pressure, but affected in a complicated way by the blasting angle and distance. Erosion wear of high Cr cast iron hardfacing could be well predicted by RSM analysis of wear variables.

공기 압축기의 피스톤용 알루미늄 합금 소재 개발 (Development of Aluminium Alloy for Piston of Air Compressor)

  • It is important not only to reduce the casting defects of piston but also to improvement in the mechanical properties(hardness) of piston for the air compressor. The blow hole is typical casting defects in the conventional cast of aluminium alloy(AC8A-T6) piston. Because of the heat treatment method, mechanical properties of the aluminium alloy for piston was decided on the heat treatment method and cycle. Therefore, we tested on the development of mechanical properties and on the casting defects of piston for the air compressor in accordance with the heat treatment and casting condition. After the heat treatment and casting was carried out as several times, and was compared with the imported piston. As a result of several investigations; microstructure, hardness and casting defects of piston was changed under the influence of the heat treatment and casting method. When the cooling rate was controlled and the uni-cast method used, it bas the same mechanical properties and microstructure.

  • This paper presents the evaluation of behavior and the prediction of tensile capacity of anchors that can cause a failure of the concrete on the basis of the design for anchorage. Tests of cast-in-place headed anchors, domestically manufactured and installed in uncracked and unreinforced concrete member are conducted to test the effected of embedment length and edge distance. The failure modes and the load-deformation responses of the anchors are discussed and then the concrete failure data are compared with capacities by the two present methods : the 45 degree cone method of ACI 349, 318 and the concrete capacity design (COD) method. Differences between the results by test and by two prediction methods are analyzed Finite Element Method (FEM).

Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Electro-Slag Cast Steel for Hot Working Tools

  • The thermal and mechanical properties of an electro-slag cast steel of a similar chemical composition with an AISI-6F2 steel are investigated and compared with a forged AISI-6F2 steel. AISI-6F2 is a hot-working tool steel. Electro-slag casting (ESC) is a method of producing ingots in a water-cooled metal mold by the heat generated in an electrically conductive slag when current passes through a consumable electrode. The ESC method provides the possibility of producing material for the high quality hot-working tools and ingots directly into a desirable shape. In the present study, the thermal and mechanical properties of yield strength, tensile strength, hardness, impact toughness, wear resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, and thermal shock resistance for electro-slag cast and forged steel are experimentally measured for both annealed and quenched and tempered heat treatment conditions. It has been found that the electro-slag cast steel has comparable thermal and mechanical properties to the forged steel.

  • There are some problems when weld gray cast iron which is used well in automobile industry with auto MIG welding. the problems are followed like this 1) Occurrence of porosity and hardening organization. 2) Occurrence of crack due to lower elongation of gray cast iron when restraint stress works on. 3) Occurrence of porosity and unstable bead shape due to unstable arc under low current MIG welding.. especially there is a restraint on chemical composition of weld metal because the weldment demands more than 570Hv hardness. so it is hard to use Fe-Ni wire to prevent cracks occured on weldment and new welding method is needed to resolve that problems. This study shows how to prevent porosity and cracks occurring when weld gray cast iron trimming die and shows a new welding method for press die of gray cast iron

연결방법에 따른 주조체 변위에 관한 3차원적 비교연구 (THREE-DIMENSIONAL COMPARISON OF FRAMEWORK DISPLACEMENTS JOINED BY VARIOUS CONNECTION TECHNIQUES)

  • This study measured the relative displacements of the five-unit fixed partial dentures as cast with the same fixed partial dentures sectioned and assembled by investment-soldering, solder-ing stand-soldering, and cast-joining techniques A total of fifteen specimens using a type IV gold alloy were one-piece cast as control and then sectioned and assembled five test specimens for each method were prepared. A computerized three dimensional coordinate measuring machine and specially designed cylinder for this study were used. Displacement was defined by six displacement variables for the each of cylinders incorporated in each casting: three component displacements(${\Delta}Lx,\;{\Delta}Ly,\;and\;{\Delta}Lz$) and rotational displacements(${\Delta}{\theta}x,\;{\Delta}{\theta}y,\;{\Delta}{\theta}z$). The global displacement was computed using the mathematical formula ${\Delta}R$ = Global displacement =$\sqrt{{(x'-x)}^2+{(y'-y)}^2+{(z'-z)}^2}$ Under the conditions of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. The investment-soldering group showed the largest mean value of final global displacements, followed by stand-soldering group, cast-joining group and one-piece cast group. However, between the mean values of final global displacement for the cast-joining group and one-piece cast group, there was no significant difference. 2. For investment-soldering and stand-soldering groups, the greater global displacements were recorded in soldering phase than in indexing or investing phase. 3. For one-piece cast group, the displacements occured mostly in the casting phase. And for cast-joining group, there was no significant difference in global displacements among the fabricating procedures. 4. Intercentroidal distance decreased in framework-patterning, solder-indexing, solder-standing, and soldering phases, but increased in investment block-investing and casting phases. 5 Specially designed cylinder for touch-trigger type coordinate measuring machine was validated.
