There is a possibility of poor-state concrete filling condition due to segregation and interlocking of aggregate and paste when a high performance concrete is used at reinforced concrete structure without compaction. This study was conducted to evaluate the flexural behavior of high performance concrete beams with design parameters such as c, t and different concrete filling conditions. Different concrete filling conditions were intentionally made such that the first type specimen was soundly cast to obtain the perfect concrete filling condition. Second type was cast in such a way that up to the longitudinal tensile reinforcement from the top, good concrete was filled while poor concrete was poured for the bottom part to simulate the poor strength, workability and unsatisfactory compaction. Third type was cast in such a was that up to the neutral axis of the beam section from the top, good concrete was filled while so did for the bottom part as the second type. The test results were analyzed in terms of load-displacement response, failure pattern, crack width and crack spacing. The test results indicate that have no effect of concrete filling conditions on the yielding strength of structures. But, have a grate influence on the stiffness and ductility of structures.

The ductile cast iron is austempered at 300, 350 and 40$0^{\circ}C$ temperature in order to investigate the basic factors for monitoring drill wear in automatic production process, and cutting force and AE RMS signals are measured with changing cutting condition for ADI(Austempered Ductile Cast Iron) with different mechanical properties. The signals of cutting force were influenced by cutting speed and feedrate greatly. On the other hand AE RMS signals are influenced by cutting speed where as it is not related with feedrate. As the depth of drilling increases, cutting force shows a slow increase and the value of AE RMS increases until the range of h/d=4. But over the range it increases greatly due to an amount of chip discharge and friction with inner wall of drilling hole, etc. As the drill diameter increases at a constant depth of drilling. Cutting force increases linearly, but the level of AE RMS does not increases linearly due to circumferential velocity and great influence of h/d.
Effect of Sn addition on the stress corrosion cracking(SCC) resistance of the Al-Cu-Mn cast alley was investigated by C-ring teat and electrical conductivity measurement, The electrical conductivity and SCC resistance increased by Sn addition. The alley containing 0,10%Sn showed maximum electrical conductivity and the best SCC resistance. At the same composition, the electrical conductivity and SCC resistance increased from peak aged condition to ever aged condition. The PFZ and coarse precipitates along the grain boundary were observed from TEM micrographs. The fracture mode of the alloy was confirmed as intergranular type and showed brittle fracture surface. The SCC mechanism of the alloy was concluded as the anodic dissolution model, The maximum hardness was increased from 130Hv in the Sn-free alloy to 156Hv in the 0.10%Sn added alloy.

$ZrV_{0.7}Mn_{0.5}Ni_{1.2}$ alloy is attractive for anode material in Ni/MH secondary battery because of its large hydrogen storage capacity in gas-solid reaction and long cycling durability in KOH electrolyte. In this work, in order to further improve the discharge performance of this alloy electrode, the alloy was annealed by optimal condition which is for 12 hours at $1000^{\circ}C$. The alloy annealed under optimal condition had higher rate capability and discharge capacity than as-cast one. The microstructure of the as-cast and annealed alloy was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Ni content in the matrix was increased, being this homogenized after annealing. Additionally, The measurement of the surface area by B.E.T. analysis showed that there was little difference as-cast and annealed alloy. Therefore, improvement in the rate capability of the annealed alloy is due to increase of Ni content in the matrix.

In this experimental study, aluminum hotforging was conduct to get superior pistion to cast piston. Cast structure of billet is destroyed, harmful defects is removed by forging process. We proposed the direction od die design by observing formability of product according to die shape. The microstructure of forged products with different preform was investigated to determine inital billet shape. We proposed appropriate heat treatment condition for improvement of mechanical properties.
The main objective of the study is to provide the criteria for determining the proper life cycle of rebuiled diesel-electric locomotive currently being operated in KNR. We predicted the most critical sections of the cast-iron bogie and tested the diesel-electric locomotive vehicle to measure dynamic stresses applied to the bogie. The fileld test of the diesel-electric locomotive estimated 9.90years based on the fatigue-life estimation when they are continuously used in the present operation condition.
The effects of carbide and matrix structures on the abrasion wear resistance of multi-component white cast irons with 3.0 mass%C have been studied in this paper. Four different heats were poured in order to obtain the specimens with different combinations of the carbide structures: a basic iron(3.0 mass%C-5.0 mass%Cr-5.0 mass%V-5.0 mass% Mo-12.5mass%W)for M$_{6}$C and M$_{7}$C$_{3}$ carbides, and a Cr free iron(3.0 mass%C-5.0 mass%V-2.5mass%Mo-12.5 mass%W) for MC and M6C carbides. A conventional high Cr free free iron(3.0 mass%C-5.0 mass%V-2.5 mass%Mo-12.5 mass%W) for MC and M6C carbides. A conventional high Cr white cast iron was also poured to compare its wear resistance with those of the multi-component white cast irons. In the as-cast condition, the range of abrasive wear rate(Rw=mg/min) was from 4.15 to 5.98 . The lowest Rw, which means the highest wear resistance, was obtained in the basic iron with nodular MC, lamellar M$_{2}$C and cellular M$_{7}$C$_{3}$ carbides. On the other hand, the Rw of the high Cr white cast iron ranked between the basic iron and the Mo and W free iron. In each alloy, the Rw of air hardened or tempered specimen was lower than that of the as-cast one because of the change of matrix structures by the heat treatments. The Rw of the hear treated speci-mens increased in the order Mo and W free iron, basic iron, Cr free iron, high Cr iron, and V free iron.n.n.n.

Generally, forging process has been known to enhance most of the mechanical properties by developing the continuous metal flow across the forged stocks. However, we have found out that forging of Al 6061 did not always give the enhancement of the mechanical properties but the degradation of the original characteristics, especailly for a extruded Al 6061. There are several candidates for the culprit of this unfavorable phenomenon. We have been trying to clear out the cause of the mechanical degradation of the forged a extruded Al 6061. One of the most plausible causes seems to be that the particles containing Mn and/or Cr is coarsened and redistributed preferencially onto grain boundaries due to a repetitive exposure in an elevated temperature condition. On the other hand, a continuously cast Al 6061 did not show any strength degradation after a hot forging under the same process condition with the extruded Al 6061.
Extruded and cast plates of AZ type magnesium alloys were successfully joined by friction stir welding (FSW). Effect of FSW conditions on the formation of the defect was revealed in relation to tool rotation speed and specimen travel speed. Magnesium alloy with higher aluminum content became difficult to be joined and the optimum condition without defect was restricted into narrow condition range. The structure of the stirred zone was a fine-grained recrystallized structure even in the case of cast AZ91D. FSW joint had better mechanical properties than those of GTA welded joint. Especially the toughness of the stirred zone increased more than that of the base metal.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the possiblity of Foodwaste and co-treatment with other waste for vermistabilization. The value of oxidation-reduction potential(Eh) of the dewaterized foodwaste by a plant of subatmospheric evaporation was a possitive(+) value indicating, but the values of pH, salinity was idicating an unfavorable condition for earthworm life. The paper mill mixing waste properties by ripening for 20days were changed into the favorable range for earthworm. The growth of earthworms in foodwaste and mixing waste of paper mill 30% was found to be 68%, 84% for the survival rate, 227%, 275% for the liveweight increasing rate, respectively. The ingestion rate of foodwaste and mixing waste of paper mill 30% indicate 0.72g/g·d, 0.81g/g·d, respectively. About 62∼75% of ingestion amount produce cast and characteristics of cast indicate pH 6.1∼6.5 organic component 34∼42%, salinity 0.35∼0.4, CEC 73∼94 me/100g, N, P, K concentration 0.8∼1.2%, 0.4∼1.6%, 0.43∼0.5% respectively. Therefore it can be evaluated that the casts are good soil condition and organic fertilizer.
