  • This study was carried out to research the effect of nutrient composition and GA4+7 on growth, flower quality and bulb development in special hydroponics of cut tulip. Flowering of 'Cassini' was markedly accelerated by standard+GA4+7, K200+GA4+7, N250+GA4+7 treatment, last internode was increased by N250 as compared with other treatment. For 'Christmas Marvel', flowering was promoted by K250+GA4+7, last infernode and total length were also increased with K250+GA4+7 as compared to other treatment. For 'Golden Apeldoorn', flowering was accelerated by K200+GA4+7, last internode was increased with N300+GA4+7 treatment and total length was increased in N250+GA4+7 treatment as compared with the standard plants. Bulb weight and number of 'Cassini', 'Christmas Marvel'and 'Golden Apeldoorn' were decreased by GA4+7 as compared to non-treatment, and bulb diameter was not affected by GA4+7.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider debates the reorganization of administrative districts and to investigate the role of maps in this debate during the early stage of French Revolution. For this, firstly, we examined the argument of reformers who attempted to change the administration system of the Old Regime. We found that physiocrats proposed map use for their attempt to reform this system. Secondly, we considered the debate on the theme of the new division of the kingdom on the basis of speeches or interventions delivered to the National Assembly. Robert de Hesseln's map, itself influenced by the geometric spirit shown by the map of Cassini, played an crucial role in the utopian ideas of revolutionaries who would divide France in administrative units of equal size geometric grid. Thirdly, the deputies decided the number and boundary of department on the basis of Hennequin's map. The final cut which resulted in very tense negotiations with local leaders was irregular polygons modeled on patterns of economic relations, and elements of relief and historical tradition. Fourthly, new administrative divisions are plotted on the map of Cassini and presented to the National Assembly. And it was declared as a new administrative division of France.

  • The Fibonacci sequence is a sequence of numbers that has been studied for hundreds of years. In this paper, we introduce the modified k-Fibonacci-like sequence and prove Binet's formula for this sequence and then use it to introduce and prove the Catalan, Cassini, and d'Ocagne identities for the modified k-Fibonacci-like sequence. Also, the ordinary generating function of this sequence is stated.

  • Five species of the genus Leontopodium are recognized in Korea, but their taxonomic positions have been controversial. To clarify the taxonomic entity of these Korean species, we examined their morphological characters based on herbarium specimens and field observations. Valuable distinguishing characters for identification included the plant height, the basal shape of cauline leaves, the type and position of inflorescence, the types of hairs, the presence of leaves at the anthesis, and hairs on the phyllaries. Based on our observations, we were able to determine the taxonomic relationships between L. japonicum and its relatives, L. coreanum and L. hallaisanense. We also included the morphological characters of L. seorakensis in continuous variations of L. leiolepis, which we treated as synonyms. Consequently, we classified these Korean Leontopodium species into four taxa - L. coreanum var. coreanum, L. coreanum var. hallaisanense, L. leiolepis, and L. leontopodioides - with appropriate descriptions and illustrations.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider the influence of the French Royal Academy of Science on the European mapping of China in the eighteenth century. For this, the historical background of French Jesuits mission of mathematicians sent to China by Louis XIV in 1685 was examined. It was found that making astronomical observations for the determination of Chinese geographic coordinates was one important reason of the French Jesuit mission. Secondly, Cassini instructed the longitude determination method to the missionaries and they reported their survey results to the Academy as correspondence member. Thirdly, the cartographic materials they accumulated in the first state were not sufficient to change the map of China. But after 1700, the map of China was broken with the Ptolemaic tradition and the longitude of Peking was moved westward about $20^{\circ}$. This reduced the width of China. Fourthly, the French Jesuit contributed to the making of Huangyu quanlan tu. The manuscipt was sent to France and it was published in d'Anvill's atlas. And his map was used as a standard map of China for more than 100 years.

  • The paper presents information concerning metrological and technical characteristics of KTU-Griff-Tester device, the optimization of its parameters and the cases of its application. It was defined that the behaviour of textile material during its extraction through a rounded hole depends upon its structure. Variations of geometrical shape of woven and knitted specimens can be described by mathematical expressions of shortened epicycloids and Cassini ovals. It is shown that waving process of disc shaped specimen can be predicted on the basis of the law of sine curve. The examples of textiles treatment with different types of commercial softeners are presented, herewith showing the suitability (sensitiveness) of the new device to detect the changes of textile hand. Meantime it is shown that the level of materials anisotropy can be decided on the basis of transformations of specimen's geometrical shape.

  • The anomalous acceleration of Pioneer-10 and Pioneer-11 is known since 1992. These spacecrafts show the unexplainable acceleration near $10^{-7}\;cm/sec^2$ in the direction to the Sun. Later the unknown acceleration of the same order was found in the motion of Ulysses in its motion from the Jupiter to Mercury, and in the motion of Galileo, NEAR, Cassini, Rosetta, and Messenger at the flybys of these spacecrafts near the Earth. The possibility of unexplainable acceleration near $10^{-7}\;cm/sec^2$ was discussed also for stellar globular clusters and for galaxies. We propose the empirical formula for taking into account this acceleration and overview the predictions of this formula at cosmological scales. Several unknown observational effects are found. One of these effects is the anomalous redshifts in the clusters of galaxies. It was known previously only for small groups of galaxies. We show the existence of anomalous redshifts in the clusters of galaxies using the spectral observations of near one million galaxies from the SLOAN 5th data release.

  • Four prominent features of Titan's haze are found within the '3.4-${\mu}m$' absorption to be uniform with recent vertically resolved Cassini/VIMS spectra. These are absorptions at 2998 $cm^{-1}$ (3.34 ${\mu}m$), 2968 $cm^{-1}$ (3.37 ${\mu}m$), 2927 $cm^{-1}$ (3.42 ${\mu}m$), and 2882 $cm^{-1}$ (3.47 ${\mu}m$). A detailed fitting suggests that the 2998 $cm^{-1}$ feature could originate from amorphous acetonitrile ($CH_3CN$) carrying about 25% of integrated optical depth; the remaining features, which account for 75% of the integrated optical depth, could arise from a distinct triplet (C-H stretching) structure of radiolyzed hydrocarbons. An additional feature was possibly evidenced at altitudes higher than 300 km and attributable to 'polymer-capped' methane ($CH_4$), significantly constraining the chemical composition of organic haze layers under Titan's active radiation field.

  • Using solar occultation data obtained by Cassini/Visual Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS), we were able to retrieve the 1 - 5 mm optical-depth spectra of the Titanian haze, for which only selected wavelength and altitudinal ranges were previously analyzed. We found that the gross 1 - 5 mm shapes of the retrieved haze spectra are significantly different from the spectra of tholin samples in the literature. We also derived the vertical variation of the spectral structure of the $3.3-3.4{\mu}m$ absorption feature of the Titan haze from the VIMS data recorded between 250 and 700 km altitude. We found a marked change between 480 and 580 km in the relative amplitudes of the 3.33 and $3.38{\mu}m$ features which are characteristic of aromatic (double C=Cchains or rings) or aliphatic (single C-C chains) structural groups, respectively. Dicussions on this spectral and altitudinal variation will be presented.
