The collimator which makes a collimated beam, is an essential instrument for assembly and evaluation of telescopes. Recently, the Cassegrain type collimator has been widely used for its compact size as the focal length of high resolution cameras becomes longer. However, this kind of collimator has a disadvantage in that the secondary mirror is a heat source which can degrade the evaluation accuracy for an IR camera system. In this paper, we present the fabrication and measurement process for an off-axis parabolic mirror with the physical diameter pf 1 m, effective diameter 930 mm, and the focal length 6 m. After four months of works we obtained the final surface wave-front error of 30.4 nm rms ($\lambda$/138, ${\lambda}=4.2\;{\mu}m$), which is capable of evaluation of an IR camera as well as a visible camera.
The DOTIFS is a new multi-object Integral Field Spectrograph (IFS) planned to be designed and built by the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Pune, India, (IUCAA) for cassegrain side port of the 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT) being constructed by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences, Nainital. (ARIES) It is a multi-integral field unit (IFU) spectrograph which has 370-740nm wavelength coverage with spectral resolution R~1200-2400. Sixteen IFUs with microlens arrays and fibers can be deployed on 8 arcmin field. Each IFU has $8.7^{{\prime}{\prime}}{\times}7.4^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ field of view with 144 spaxel elements. 2304 fibers coming from IFUs are dispersed by eight identical spectrographs with all refractive and all spherical optics. In this work, we show optical design of the DOTIFS spectrograph. Expected performance and result of tolerance and thermal analysis are also shown. The optics is comprised of f=520mm collimator, broadband filter, dispersion element and f=195mm camera. Pupil size is determined as 130mm from spectral resolution and budget requirements. To maintain good transmission down to 370nm, calcium fluoride elements and high transmission optical glasses have been used. Volume Phase Holographic grating is selected as a dispersion element to maximize the grating efficiency and to minimize the size of the optics. Detailed optics design report had been documented. The design was finalized through optical design review and now ready for order optics.
A method for measuring the wavefront error and the modulation transfer function(MTF) of large aperture optics using an unequal path interferometer is presented. A bidirectional shearing interferometer is used for collimation testing of the measurement system. A large aperture Fizeau interferometer with long optical path difference measures the wavefront error of the optics under test by using a $\Phi$ 400 mm off-axis parabolic mirror. The MTF is also measured at the wavelength of the interferometer by changing the laser light into partially incoherent light. Test results of a $\Phi$ 300 mm Cassegrain type satellite telescope made in Korea are presented.

To evaluate the combustion mechanism of each droplet cluster downstream of the premixed spray flame, the simultaneous time-series measurements were conducted by using optical measurement system consisting of laser tomography, multi-color integrated Cassegrain receiving optics (MICRO) and phase Doppler anemometer (PDA). Furthermore, the group combustion number of droplet cluster was estimated experimentally, and the combustion mechanism of droplet cluster was examined applying the theoretical analysis. The group combustion number, $G_c$, was experimentally estimated about all droplet cluster verified by planar images, and it was classified into the internal group combustion mode and the external group combustion mode according to the theoretical analysis. It is found that there are cases in which the group combustion number estimated experimentally for droplet cluster agree or disagree with the classification by theoretical analysis. The reason of disagreement is considered due to that the group combustion number was only estimated by the geometrical arrangement of droplets in cluster, and that the actual phenomenon is three-dimensional but the measurement system is two-dimensional.
A optical system of a movile LIDAR is designed for air pollution research. After the inverse Cassegrain type collimator, the laser beam falls on the mirror which serve for coinciding optical axis of laser beam and the receiving telescope. Then, it is directed into the atmosphere and back scattered radiation back to the receiving telescope by the scanning mirror. The unit of scanning mirror allows to rotate the mirror along the altitude 0$^{\circ}$~60$^{\circ}$, and the azimuth 0$^{\circ}$~360$^{\circ}$. The scanning mirror is not connected with the receiving telescope but placed on the roof of the mobile. The received beam is spatial filtered by a spatial filter and collimated by a fabric lens. Thereafter, the beam is devided into 2 channel for registration by a beam splitter. Each laser beam is transformed into an electrical signal by means of the photomultifier and then processed to be analyzed.
In this work, we calculate drop in antenna gain, aperture phase distribution, and antenna pointing shift of KVN(Korean VLBI Network) 21m shaped Cassegrain antenna due to misalignments of antenna optics using ray-tracing method. The misalignments we considered are axial displacement of feed, axial displacement of sub-reflector, lateral displacement of feed, lateral displacement of sub-reflector, and sub-reflector tilt. Calculations are performed not only when these misalignments exist separately, but also when they exist at the same time. Although ray-tracing method is based on geometric optics which does not consider electromagnetic effects, we expect that this work enables us to align antenna optics which give the maximum gain.

Implemented at the Geochang Observatory in South Korea, our slope detection and ranging (SLO-DAR) system features a 508 mm Cassegrain telescope (f /7.8), incorporating two Shack-Hartmann wave-front sensors (WFS) for precise measurements of atmospheric phase distortions, particularly from nearby binary or double stars, utilizing an 8 × 8 grid of sampling points. With an ability to reconstruct eight-layer vertical atmospheric profiles, the system quantifies the refractive index structure function (Cn2) through the crossed-beam method. Adaptable in vertical profiling altitude, ranging from a few hundred meters to several kilometers, contingent on the separation angle of binary stars, the system operates in both wide (2.5 to 12.5 arcminute separation angle) and narrow modes (11 to 15 arcsecond separation angle), covering altitudes from 122.3 to 611.5 meters and 6.1 to 8.3 kilometers, respectively. Initial measurements at the Geochang Observatory indicated Cn2 values up to 181.7 meters with a Fried parameter (r0) of 8.4 centimeters in wide mode and up to 7.8 kilometers with an r0 of 8.0 centimeters in narrow mode, suggesting similar seeing conditions to the Bohyun Observatory and aligning with a comparable 2014-2015 seeing profiling campaign in South Korea.
A light collecting probe named Multi-color Integrated Cassegrain Receiving Optics (MICRO) is applied to spark-ignited spherical spray flames to obtain the flame propagation speed in freely falling droplet suspension produced by an ultrasonic atomizer. Two MICRO probes are used to monitor time-series signals of OH chemiluminescence from two different locations in the flame. By detecting the arrival time difference of the propagating flame front, the flame propagation speed is calculated with a two-point delay-time method. In addition, time-series images of OH chemiluminescence are simultaneously obtained by a high-speed digital CCD camera to ensure the validity of the two-point delay-time method by the MICRO system. Furthermore, the relationship between the spray properties measured by phase Doppler anemometer (PDA) and the flame propagation speed are discussed with three different experimental conditions by changing the fuel injection rate. It was confirmed that the two-point delay-time method with two MICRO probes is useful and convenient to obtain the flame propagation speed and that the flame propagation speed depends on the spray properties.

The Cassegrain telescope consists of a primary concave mirror and a secondary convex mirror. In the case of a secondary mirror, it is more difficult to test wavefront error than for a primary mirror, because it reflects the entire testing beam, as it is convex in shape. In this paper we tested the wavefront error of a complex aspheric convex secondary mirror by using the Simpson-Oland-Meckel Hindle test. To separate the systematic errors, such as fabrication error and alignment error of a meniscus lens, we adopted the QN absolute test (pixel-based absolute test using the quasi-Newton method) as well. Finally, we compared the measured result with that of an ASI (Aspheric Stitching Interferometer) made by the QED company, which resulted in an rms difference of only 2.5 nm, showing a similar shape of astigmatism aberration.
