Cascade-Correlation Neural Networks Model(CCNNM) is used to estimate daily evaporation using limited climatical variables such as atmospheric temperature, dewpoint temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, sunshine duration and radiation. DeBruln equation is applied to estimate daily free-surface evaporation. It is converted into pan evaporation using pan coefficient. The results of CCNNM shows better than those of Debruin equation. This research represents that the strong nonlinear relationship such as evaporation modeling can be generalized by the CCNNM ; a special type of Backpropagation algorithm Neural Networks Model.
This paper presents a combination of the generalized Cascade Correlation and generalized Recurrent Cascade Correlation learning algorithms. The new network will be able to grow with vertical or horizontal direction and with recurrent or without recurrent units for the quick solution of the pattern classification problem. The proposed algorithm was tested learning capability with the sigmoidal activation function and hyperbolic tangent activation function on the contact lens and balance scale standard benchmark problems. And results are compared with those obtained with Cascade Correlation and Recurrent Cascade Correlation algorithms. By the learning the new network was composed with the minimal number of the created hidden units and shows quick learning speed. Consequently it will be able to improve a learning capability.

This paper presents a new class of activation functions for Cascade Correlation learning algorithm, which herein will be called CosGauss function. This function is a cosine modulated gaussian function. In contrast to the sigmoidal, hyperbolic tangent and gaussian functions, more ridges can be obtained by the CosGauss function. Because of the ridges, it is quickly convergent and improves a pattern recognition speed. Consequently it will be able to improve a learning capability. This function was tested with a Cascade Correlation Network on the two spirals problem and results are compared with those obtained with other activation functions.

The cascade-correlation (CC) learning algorithm of Fahlman and Lebiere is one of the most influential constructive algorithm in a neural network. Cascading the hidden neurons results in a network that can represent very strong nonlinearities. Although this power is in principle useful, it can be a disadvantage if such strong nonlinearity is not required to solve the problem. 3 models are presented and compared empirically. All of them are based on valiants of the cascade architecture and output neurons weights training of the CC algorithm. Empirical results indicate the followings: (1) In the pattern classification, the model that train only new hidden neuron to output layer connection weights shows the best predictive ability; (2) In the function approximation, the model that removed input-output connection and used sigmoid-linear activation function is better predictability than CasCor algorithm.
This Many software projects collect grouped failure data (failures in some failure interval or in variable time interval) rather than individual failure times or failure count data during the testing or operational phase. This paper presents the neural network (NN) modeling for grouped failure data that is able to predict cumulative failures in the variable future time. The two variant models of cascade-correlation learning (CasCor) algorithm are presented. Suggested models are compared with other well-known NN models and statistical software reliability growth models (SRGMs). Experimental results show that the suggested models show better predictability.

Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was predicted using Cascade Correlation Network (CCN) model. CCN was suggested, by Fahlman and Lebiere [1990], to overcome the limitations of backpropagation algorithm such as step size problem and moving target problem. To test the applicability of CCN as a function approximator to the stock price movements, CCN was used as a tool for univariate time series analysis. The fitting and forecasting performance fo CCN on the KOSPI was compared with those of Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP).

This paper presents a pattern recognition analysis of two spirals problem and optimization of Cascade Correlation learning algorithm using in combination with a non-monotone function as CosExp(cosine-modulated symmetric exponential function) and a monotone function as sigmoid function. In addition, the algorithm's optimization is attempted. By using genetic algorithms the optimization of the algorithm will attempt. In the first experiment, by using CosExp activation function for candidate neurons of the learning algorithm is analyzed the recognized pattern in input space of the two spirals problem. In the second experiment, CosExp function for output neurons is used. In the third experiment, the sigmoid activation functions with various parameters for candidate neurons in 8 pools and CosExp function for output neurons are used. In the fourth experiment, the parameters are composed of 8 pools and displacement of the sigmoid function to determine the value of the three parameters is obtained using genetic algorithms. The parameter values applied to the sigmoid activation functions for candidate neurons are used. To evaluate the performance of these algorithms, each step of the training input pattern classification shows the shape of the two spirals. In the optimizing process, the number of hidden neurons was reduced from 28 to15, and finally the learning algorithm with 12 hidden neurons was optimized.
Recurrent-Cascade-Correlation(RCC) is a supervised teaming algorithm that automatically determines the size and topology of the network. RCC adds new hidden neurons one by one and creates a multi-layer structure in which each hidden layer has only one neuron. By second order RCC, new hidden neurons are added to only one hidden layer. These created neurons are not connected to each other. We present a generalization of the RCC Architecture by combining the standard RCC Architecture and the second order RCC Architecture. Whenever a hidden neuron has to be added, the new RCC teaming algorithm automatically determines whether the network topology grows vertically or horizontally. This new algorithm using sigmoid, tanh and new activation functions was tested with the morse-benchmark-problem. Therefore we recognized that the number of hidden neurons was decreased by the experiments of the RCC network generalization which used the activation functions.
This paper presents a optimization of sigmoid activation function parameter using genetic algorithms and pattern recognition analysis in input space of two spirals benchmark problem. To experiment, cascade correlation learning algorithm is used. In the first experiment, normal sigmoid activation function is used to analyze the pattern classification in input space of the two spirals problem. In the second experiment, sigmoid activation functions using different fixed values of the parameters are composed of 8 pools. In the third experiment, displacement of the sigmoid function to determine the value of the three parameters is obtained using genetic algorithms. The parameter values applied to the sigmoid activation functions for candidate neurons are used. To evaluate the performance of these algorithms, each step of the training input pattern classification shows the shape of the two spirals.
This paper presents a systematical approach to study carrier based PWM techniques (CPWM) in diode-clamped and cascade multilevel inverters by using a proposed named multi-modulating pattern method. This method is based on the vector correlation between CPWM and the space vector PWM (SVPWM) and applicable to both multilevel inverter topologies. A CPWM technique can be described in a general mathematical equation, and obtain the same outputs similarly as of the corresponding SVPWM. Control of the fundamental voltage, vector redundancies and phase redundancies in multilevel inverter can be formulated separately in the CPWM equation. The deduced CPWM can obtain the full vector redundancy control, and fully utilize phase redundancy in a cascade inverter In this continued part, it will be deduced correlation between CPWM equations in multi-carrier system and single carrier system, present the mathematical model of voltage source inverter related to the common mode voltage and propose a general algorithm for multi-modulating modulator. The obtained theory will be demonstrated by simulation results.
