탄성지점의 적용에 따른 교량의 내하력평가 (Load Carrying Capacity Assessment of Bridges with Elastic Supports Application)

  • 본 연구에서는 재하시험에 의하여 얻어지는 측정데이터를 적극적으로 활용하고 다양한 방법을 통하여 내하력을 평가하기 위하여 탄성지점을 적용하였다. 스프링력에 의한 구조해석의 적정성을 확인하고 실험결과의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위하여 내민보로 제작한 탄성빔을 대상으로 처짐시험을 실시하였으며 이를 토대로 공용중인 교량의 내하력 평가 방법의 개선을 위하여 실제 공용중인 교량에 대한 정밀안전진단을 통한 검증을 실시하였다. 휨시험 결과 기존방법에 의하여 계산된 처짐보다 탄성지점을 적용하여 구한 처짐이 실측한 처짐과 근접한 것으로 나타났다. 준공 직후 초기점검 대상인 3경간 연속 강박스형교에 대한 내하력을 평가한 결과 탄성지점에 의한 내하력이 기존의 방법에 의한 내하력보다 최대 9.7% 작게 평가되었다. 본 연구는 기존 방법에 따라 교량의 내하력을 평가할 경우 응력보정계수의 적용과 같이 지침에 명확하게 제시되지 않은 부분으로 인하여 공학자에 따라 내하력이 상이하게 평가되는 경우가 빈번하므로 이에 대한 연구가 더욱 활발해 져야 한다는 취지에서 수행하였다.

물체 운반작업에 의한 산소맥의 변화 (Oxygen Pulse in Load Carrying)

  • On 6 healthy adult males aged 20-30 years, oxygen pulse was observed during carrying sand bags weighing 10, 20 and 30 kg on a level treadmill running with speeds of 3, 4 and 5 km/hr. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Oxygen pulse during load carrying on a level treadmill was proportionately increased with an increase of work load, average oxygen uptake per minute. Regression equation of oxygen pulse (y: $m\iota$/beat) on the average oxygen uptake (x:$\iota$/min) required for each grade of work was expressed as y=3.34x+5.99, $s_{y.x}=0.858$). 2. Oxygen pulse reached the highest value 2-5 minutes after the start of load carrying, and thereafter it decreased gradually to some extend as the load carrying was continued. Rate of decrease in the oxygen pulse was greater in lighter works. 3. In lighter works requiring less than $2.0\iota/min$ of oxygen uptake, no difference in oxygen pulse could be seen between methods of carrying even when the same amount of load was carried. In heavier works requiring more than $2.0\iota/min$ of oxygen uptake, oxygen pulse was larger in case of carrying a load by embrace, in both hands and on head than on back or on shoulder.

Differential transform method and numerical assembly technique for free vibration analysis of the axial-loaded Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying a number of intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias

  • Multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses with/without rotary inertias are widely used in engineering applications, but in the literature for free vibration analysis of such structural systems; Bernoulli-Euler Beam Theory (BEBT) without axial force effect is used. The literature regarding the free vibration analysis of Bernoulli-Euler single-span beams carrying a number of spring-mass systems, Bernoulli-Euler multiple-step and multi-span beams carrying multiple spring-mass systems and multiple point masses are plenty, but that of Timoshenko multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias with axial force effect is fewer. The purpose of this paper is to utilize Numerical Assembly Technique (NAT) and Differential Transform Method (DTM) to determine the exact natural frequencies and mode shapes of the axial-loaded Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying a number of intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias. The model allows analyzing the influence of the shear and axial force effects, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of the multiple-step beams by using Timoshenko Beam Theory (TBT). At first, the coefficient matrices for the intermediate lumped mass with rotary inertia, the step change in cross-section, left-end support and right-end support of the multiple-step Timoshenko beam are derived from the analytical solution. After the derivation of the coefficient matrices, NAT is used to establish the overall coefficient matrix for the whole vibrating system. Finally, equating the overall coefficient matrix to zero one determines the natural frequencies of the vibrating system and substituting the corresponding values of integration constants into the related eigenfunctions one determines the associated mode shapes. After the analytical solution, an efficient and easy mathematical technique called DTM is used to solve the differential equations of the motion. The calculated natural frequencies of Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias for the different values of axial force are given in tables. The first five mode shapes are presented in graphs. The effects of axial force, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of Timoshenko multiple-step beam are investigated.

가방 휴대 방법에 따른 보행 시 발의 비례추진력 변화 (Changes of relative impulse of foot on carrying 5 types of schoolbag during level walking)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes of the relative impulse of the foot when carrying 5 types of schoolbag during level walking. Methods: Forty-four normal subjects were divided into 5 groups according to the method of carrying a bag: carrying no bag (condition 1), a backpack (condition 2), a shoulder bag (condition 3), a cross bag (condition 4) and a one-hand bag (condition 5). To evaluate the partial relative impulse, 7 areas were measured on the sole of a foot: the hallux, toe, 1st metatarsal head (Met1) and the 2nd & 3rd metatarsal heads (Met2/3), the 4th & 5th metatarsal heads (Met4/5), mid foot and heel. Repeated one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-tests were used to analyze the statistical data. Results: In the right foot, the relative impulses in every areas revealed no significant difference (p>0.05), however, the relative impulses at Met1, Met2/3, Met4/5 and heel were significantly different between the different conditions (p<0.05). There were significant differences on comparing the relative impulse between left and right foot within one condition, the mid foot in condition 2, as well as the hallux and Met1 in condition 3 (p<0.05). In condition 4, the toe, Met1, Met4/5 and mid foot were significantly different (p<0.05). The values at the hallux, toe and Met1 in condition 5 also were significantly different (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings showed that the symmetrical relative impulse of the foot was present in the case of carrying a backpack, but there was an extra load on specific regions and asymmetrical relative impulses in the case of carrying a shoulder bag, a across bag and a one-hand bag. Analysis of ENPP2 in the Uterine Endometrium of Pigs Carrying Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer Cloned Embryos

  • Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is a useful tool for animal cloning, but the efficiency of producing viable offspring by SCNT is very low. To improve this efficiency in the production of cloned pigs, it is critical to understand the interactions between uterine function and cloned embryos during implantation. Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a lipid mediator that plays an important role in the establishment of pregnancy in pigs; however, LPA production in the uterine endometrium of pigs carrying SCNT-cloned conceptuses has not been determined. Therefore, we investigated expression of ENPP2, an LPA-generating enzyme, in the uterine endometrium of gilts with conceptuses derived from SCNT during the implantation period. Uterine endometrial tissue and uterine flushing were obtained from gilts carrying SCNT-derived conceptuses and from gilts carrying conceptuses resulting from natural mating on d 12 of pregnancy. Our results demonstrated no difference in the level of ENPP2 mRNA expression in the uterine endometrium between gilts carrying SCNT-derived conceptuses and gilts carrying naturally-conceived conceptuses, but secretion of ENPP2 protein into the uterine lumen did decrease significantly in pigs with SCNT-derived conceptuses. These results indicate that expression and secretion of ENPP2, which are critical for appropriate LPA production and successful pregnancy, are dysregulated in the uterine endometrium of pigs carrying SCNT-derived conceptuses.

Load-carrying capacity degradation of reinforced concrete piers due to corrosion of wrapped steel plates

  • Two-dimensional elastoplastic finite element formulation is employed to investigate the load- carrying capacity degradation of reinforced concrete piers wrapped with steel plates due to occurrence of corrosion at the pier base. By comparing with experimental results, the employed finite element analysis method is verified to be accurate. After that, a series of parametric studies are conducted to investigate the effect of corrosion ratio and corrosion mode of steel plates located near the base of in-service pier P2 on load-carrying capacity of the piers. It is observed that the load-carrying capacity of the piers decreases with the increase in corrosion ratio of steel plates. There exists an obvious linear relationship between the load-carrying capacity and the corrosion ratio in the case of even corrosion mode. The degradation of load-carrying capacity resulted from the web's uneven corrosion mode is more serious than that under even corrosion mode, and the former case is more liable to occur than the latter case in actual engineering application. Finally, the failure modes of the piers under different corrosion state are discussed. It is found that the principal tensile strain of concrete and yield range of steel plates are distributed within a wide range in the case of slight corrosion, and they are concentrated on the column base when complete corrosion occurs. The findings obtained from the present study can provide a useful reference for the maintenance and strengthening of the in-service piers.

올림이 있는 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘의 올림하는 수 표기에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Marking the Carrying Number of Multiplication Algorithm with regrouping)

  • 표준화된 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘3)은 곱셈의 계산 과정을 간략화한 것으로, 올림이 있는 자연수 곱셈의 경우 올림하는 수를 피승수의 위에 작게 표기하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 올림하는 수 표기 방식은 승수가 한 자리 수인 경우에만 교과서에 제시되고 있어, 승수가 두 자리 수인 경우에는 교사와 학생들이 자기 나름의 표기 방식을 선택하도록 요구하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 현행 교과서에서의 올림이 있는 자연수 곱셈의 알고리즘 접근 방법을 살펴보고, 3, 4, 5, 6학년 학생들의 올림이 있는 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘에서 나타나는 올림하는 수 표기 방식을 분석하였다. 또한, 핀란드 수학 교과서와 선행 연구에 나타난 올림이 있는 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘 지도 내용을 분석함으로써 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘의 제시 방법에 대한 시사점을 추출하였다. 그 결과로 다음과 같이 제안한다. 첫째, 교사용 지도서나 교과서에 올림하는 수를 표기하는 방법에 대한 예시가 필요하다. 둘째, 올림하는 수를 체계적으로 표기하는 것의 좋음을 학생이 인식하도록 지도되어야 한다. 셋째, 대안적인 자연수 곱셈 알고리즘과 올림하는 수 표기 방법에 대한 교사의 이해가 요구된다.

경주 동궁과 월지의 적정수용력 연구 - 물리적 심리적 수용력을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Carrying Capacity of Donggung and Wolji, Gyeongju - Centering around the Physical.Psychological Carrying Capacity -)

  • 본 연구는 최근 역사정원 관광공간으로 이용이 증가하고 있는 경주 동궁과 월지의 물리적 수용력과 심리적 수용력을 중심으로 경주 동궁과 월지의 적정수용력을 측정하여 향후 정보 모니터링 조기경보시스템의 구축과 지속가능한 관리방안을 설정하기 위한 기초자료를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 현장관측과 설문조사를 실시하였다. 물리적 수용력은 경관 결절점 공간용량과 도로 공간용량, 기타 공간용량을 나눠서 산정하였으며, 심리적 수용력은 관광객의 시각, 청각, 촉각, 행동 느낌과 만족도 측면에서의 접근을 통하여 추정하였다. 실제 이용관광객 수와 적정 수용력을 비교해 보면 주간에는 이용관광객 수가 적합한 반면, 야간에는 적정 수용력의 두 배 이상 초과된 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 야간 방문객은 단체관광객이 주류를 이루어서 짧고 정해진 시간대에 집중되어 유적지의 경관과 식생 환경을 훼손시켰다. 이러한 결과를 중심으로 경주 동궁과 월지의 관리에 대한 정책적 관리개선방안을 제시하였다.

물체 운반을 위한 다수 로봇의 협조제어 (Cooperative Control of Mobile Robot for Carrying Object)

  • This paper proposed a method of cooperative control of three mobile robots for carrying an object placed on a floor together. Each robot moves to the object independently from its location to a pre-designated location for grasping the object stably. After grasping the common object, the coordination among the robots has been achieved by a master-slave mode. That is, a trajectory planning has been done for the master robot and the distances form the master robot to the two slave robots have been kept constant during the carrying operation. The localization for mobile robots has been implemented using the encoder data and inverse kinematics since the whole system does not have the slippage as much as a single mobile robot. Before the carrying operation, the lifting operations are implemented using the manipulators attached on the top of the mobile robots cooperatively. The real cooperative lifting and carrying operations are implanted to show the feasibility of the master-slave mode control based on the kinematics using the mobile manipulators developed for this research.

Load carrying capacity of deteriorated reinforced concrete columns

  • This paper presents a new methodology to evaluate the load carrying capacity of deteriorated non-slender concrete bridge pier columns by construction of the full P-M interaction diagrams. The proposed method incorporates the actual material properties of deteriorated columns, and accounts for amount of corrosion and exposed corroded bar length, concrete loss, loss of concrete confinement and strength due to stirrup deterioration, bond failure, and type of stresses in the corroded reinforcement. The developed structural model and the damaged material models are integrated in a spreadsheet for evaluating the load carrying capacity for different deterioration stages and/or corrosion amounts. Available experimental and analytical data for the effects of corrosion on short columns subject to axial loads combined with moments (eccentricity induced) are used to verify the accuracy of proposed model. It was observed that, for the limited available experimental data, the proposed model is conservative and is capable of predicting the load carrying capacity of deteriorated reinforced concrete columns with reasonable accuracy. The proposed analytical method will improve the understanding of effects of deterioration on structural members, and allow engineers to qualitatively assess load carrying capacity of deteriorated reinforced concrete bridge pier columns.
