멤브레인 LNG 운반선용 스카폴딩 시스템의 자동 설계 프로그램 개발 (Development of the Automatic Design Program for Scaffolding System of the Membrane LNG Carrier)

  • Scaffolding system in the membrane LNG carrier is a steel structure composed of various pipe-shaped members connected by specific coupling devices. In this study, the automatic design program for scaffolding system in membrane LNG carrier has been developed. It enables user to arrange members easily considering design constraints and input variables such as size of tank, position of legs, level height and so on. In addition to that, it creates finite element analysis model with loading and boundary conditions automatically and carries out structural analysis. With post processor based a state-of-the-art computer graphics, users can easily check the results of structural analysis and make a report for structural safety of scaffolding system.

Design of small impact test device for concrete panels subject to high speed collision

  • Five key items were used to create an economical and physically small impact test device for concrete panels subject to high speed collision: an air-compressive system, carbon steel pipe, solenoid valve, carrier and carrier-blocking, and velocity measurement device. The impact test device developed can launch a 20 mm steel spherical projectile at over 200 m/s with measured impact and/or residual velocity. Purpose for development was to conduct preliminary materials tests, prior to large-scale collision experiments. In this paper, the design process of the small impact test device was discussed in detail.

파라핀 슬러리의 생성 및 관내 대류열전달에 관한 연구 (Formation of a paraffin slurry and its convective heat transfer in a circular pipe)

  • As a method to develop an enhanced heat transfer fluid, the fine particles of a phase-change material were mixed with a conventional heat transfer fluid. Paraffin, which can be obtained easily in domestic market, was used for the phase-change material and water was used as a carrier fluid. Fine liquid particles of paraffin were formed in water as an emulsion by using an emulsifier, and they were cooled rapidly to become solid particle, resulting in paraffin slurry. The average diameter of produced solid particles was inversely proportional to the amount of the added emulsifier, which was theoretically proved. The produced paraffin slurry was tested thermally in heat transfer test section having a constant-heat-flux boundary condition. The test section was made of a circular stainless-steel pipe, which was directly heated by the power supply having a maximum of 50 Volts-500 Amperes. DSC(Differential scanning calorimeter) tests showed that two kinds of phase change were involved in the melting of paraffin, and it was explained in two different ways. A five- region-melting model was developed by extending the conventional three-region-melting model, and was used to obtain the local bulk mean temperatures of paraffin slurry in the heating test section. The local heat transfer coefficient showed a maximum where the bulk mean temperature of the paraffin slurry reached at the melting temperature of paraffin.

  • Saltation occurs in horizontal flow of solid and gas when the carrier gas velocity is small enough to permit enough to settling of the solid particles within the transport line. So we should examine the pneumatic flow system to lessen the unbured carbon in the power plant. In this paper the saltation velocity was studied on the various solid flow rate in the constant pipe diameter and on the various temperatures of the flow gas. The air velocity in the power plant transport lines was also surveyed in order to compare with the saltation velocity. As the solid flow rate increased in the constant diameter, saltation velocity increased and as the temperater of the flow gas inereased in the transport line, saltation velocity also increased.

유조선, COT Vent Pipe용 Anti-Splash Device 최적 모델 개발 (Oil Carrier, Development of on Optimized Anti-Splash Device Model for COT Vent Pipe)

  • Application of newly conceptualized Anti-Splash Devices designed for COT vent pipes were studied on a P/V valve located on the upper deck of an oil carrier vessel. Anti-Splash devices are used in the shipbuilding industry in order to avoid oil overflow and spray accidents caused by excess pressure and vacuum condition in the cargo oil tanks. These conditions are caused by the transverse and longitudinal sloshing forces that arise from ship motion during sea voyages. The main issue with existing Anti-Splash device model is flux at the outlet of the Anti-Splash Device, and so, new conceptual models for the Anti-Splash device were developed and compared to existing Anti-Splash device model using CFD analysis. Transient analysis was used to capture the flow and velocity of each model and a comparative analysis was performed between old and new-concept models. This data was used to determine the optimal design parameters in order to develop an optimized Anti-Splash Device. A Factory acceptance test was performed on the new-concept models in order to verify the performance and efficiency against their design requirements and other criterion. The final step performed was to apply the optimized Anti-Splash Device models for COT vent pipes to an actual vessel and verify performance through a seawater cargo operation during a sea voyage as per the ship owner's request. The patent for the aforementioned device was obtained by the Korean Intellectual property Office dated Dec. 18th,2014.

멤브레인형 LNG선박 화물탱크 벤트 마스트 출구에서의 BOG 확산 특성에 관한 연구 (An Examination on the Dispersion Characteristics of Boil-off Gas in Vent Mast Exit of Membrane Type LNG Carriers)

  • 일반적으로 액체가스운반선은 인화성 화물이나 독성물질을 운반한다. 이러한 화물들은 폭발, 화재 및 인명손상을 가져올 수 있기 때문에, 액체가스운반선의 거주구역, 서비스 구역 및 통제실은 가스의 유입이 원천적으로 차단되도록 설계한다. 이러한 이유로, IMO IGC 코드의 멤브레인형 LNG선박의 화물탱크에 설치되는 벤트 출구의 높이는 노출갑판상 B/3 또는 6m 중 큰 것 이상으로 하고 작업구역 및 전후부 통행로, 갑판상의 저장탱크 및 화물설계 액위보다 6m 이상 높게 설치하여야 한다라고 규정하고 있다. 또한 LNG 시장이 점진적으로 증가하면서, LNG선박의 크기도 증가해 왔다. 때문에 현 규정에 의하면 LNG선박의 벤트의 높이는 선박 폭(B)에 비례하기 때문에 상당히 높아져야 할 것이며, 이는 높은 벤트 마스트(Mast)로 인하여 작업의 어려움 및 전방 시야를 방해하는 등 항해의 어려움을 초래한다. 본 연구에서는 멤브레인형 LNG선의 Sea-trial시에 측정하였던 데이터 및 CFD유동해석을 통해 LNG선박 화물탱크의 벤트 출구의 높이에 대한 적합성 평가를 수행한다.

  • The Fuel Test Loop (FTL) consists of In-Pile Test Section (IPS) and Out-of-Pile System (OPS). The test condition in IPS such as pressure, temperature and quality of the main cooling water, can be controlled by the OPS. The FTL has been developed to be able to irradiate three pins to the core irradiation hole (IR1 hole) by considering for its utility and user's irradiation requirement. The IPS vessel assembly (IVA) consists of IPS head, outer pressure vessel, inner pressure vessel, inner assembly and test fuel carrier. The IVA is approximately 5.6 m long and fits within a 74 mm in diameter envelope over the full height of the chimney. Above the top of the chimney, the head of the IPS is enlarged to allow the closure flanges and pipe work connections. IVA was designed to test the CANDU and PWR nuclear fuel pin together. Specially, wished to minimize interference by nuclear fuel change in design and synthesize these items and shape design for IVA.

오스테나이트 스테인리스강에 대한 가스텅스텐 아크용접 시동종 및 이종 용접부의 용접성 평가 (Evaluation of Weldability on Identical and Dissimilar Welding Parts of Austenite Stainless Steel by GTAW)

  • 본 논문은 LNG 선박의 이중연료엔진의 이중벽 가스파이프의 재료인 STS 304와 STS 316L에 대하여 GTAW에 의해 용접된 동종 및 이종 용접부의 기계적 특성과 용접성을 평가하였다. STS 304 동종 용접부의 경우, STS 316L 동종 용접부에 비해 모재 대비 현저하게 기계적 특성이 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 미세조직 관찰 결과, STS 304 동종 용접부가 STS 316L 동종 용접부에 비해 침상 페라이트가 많이 형성되어 상대적으로 높은 경도를 나타냈다.

LNG 운반선 비계 모듈의 8단 탑재 방안 연구 (A Study on 8-Stage Loading Method of the Scaffolding Module for LNG Carriers)

  • 멤브레인(membrane) LNG 운반선 화물창(cargo containment)의 공사 작업대인 비계 시스템(scaffolding system)은 다양한 형상의 부재들로 구성된 대형 트러스 구조물이다. 비계 시스템의 설치 기간 및 공정을 단축하기 위해서는 모듈의 탑재 단위를 기존의 2단에서 8단으로 대형화하는 것이 매우 효과적이다. 모듈이 대형화하여 탑재 하중이 증가하면 메인 수직 파이프를 연결해주는 핀(pin)과 홀(hole) 주위의 국부 응력 증가가 예상되므로 구조안전성을 확보하기 위한 사전 평가가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 인장강도 시험을 통해 파손 취약 부위를 확인하고 이에 대한 구조 안전성을 정량적으로 검토하기 위해 접촉 응력 해석을 수행하였다. 인장강도 시험을 통해 최상부의 수직 방향 파이프에 발생하는 평균 하중 부근에서 홀의 변형이 육안으로 관찰되었으며, 홀 주위의 응력 크기는 접촉 응력 계산을 통해 확인하였다. 접촉 문제를 Herzian 접촉 응력 관점에서 접근하였고, 핀과 홀을 포함하는 부분의 재료 항복강도와 접촉 응력의 비교를 통해 8단 탑재의 가능성을 검토하였다. 결과로서, 기존 재료의 비계를 이용한 8단 탑재 방안은 부적합함을 확인하였으며, 파손 취약 부위에 대한 정량적 구조평가 결과를 바탕으로 8단 탑재 시의 구조안전성 확보를 위한 방안들을 제시하였다.
