  • Objective: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of treating the carpal tunnel syndrome by using both the Herbal Acupuncture and herbal medicine therapy on five cases. Methods: For the Herbal Acupuncture, Jungseonguhhyul No. 1 and Hwanglyunhaedoktang were used. For the herbal medicine, Dangguihwalhyul-tang was used. The patients were treated once in every two days; the result was evaluated after ten treatments. Patients' conditions were monitored through their testimony, phalen's test, nerve conduction study and electromyography. Results: In all five cases, the patients showed improvement; in four cases, the patients no longer had most of the clinical symptoms. Based on the result of the nerve conduction study, for the four cases in which the patients no longer displayed most of the clinical symptoms, their nerve conduction rate improved; for the remaining one case, the patient's nerve conduction rate deteriorated. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrate that combining the Herbal Acupuncture and herbal medicine therapy can have noticeable effects in treating the carpal tunnel syndrome; developing more variety of the herbal acupuncture would lead to even better treatment results.

  • Purpose : The Purpose of this study was to pain release and power grip in wrist affect of needle TENS(utilized of TENS in electrotherapy with oriental needle) and ultrasound therapy and taping with carpal tunnel syndrome patients. Methods : To study divided of each groups. each groups were apply to ultrasound therapy for 5 mintus, Taping was attached from wrist joint to elbow joint medial epicondly after maximum extension. needle TENS application was following of median nerve in wrist. Result : 1. The pain was released on needle TENS, ultrasound and taping groups of all(p<.05). 2. Power grip was enhanced in needle TENS and taping groups(p<.05) but ultrasound was no difference compared with before therapy. 3. Compared with needle TENS and taping therapy about pain release was needle TENS groups better than ultrasound groups(p<.05) Conclusion : Needle TENS, taping therapy are more effectable than ultrasound therapy for grip power and pain release. Needle TENS therapy is more effectable than taping therapy for pain release. Therefor, neddle TENS therapy is most effectable for pain release with carpal tunnel syndrome patients.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine about dental hygienists' myofascial pain syndrome, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), medial and lateral epicondylitis, hand-arm vibration syndrom and work-related musculoskeletal syndrome (WMSD) experience and hygienists' posture, motion. Methods: The self-administered questionnaire was surveyed from June 1 to September 30 of 2018 targeting 280 dental hygienists in Gyeongnam province and 266 dental hygienists' answers were analyzed. Results: The average daily working hours of a dental hygienist was more than eight hours 59.0%, with an average of 33 patients per day. The average number of patients who receive treatment for more than 30 minutes is 15. The angle of motion of the subjective evaluation was above 60%. Medical position and form of movement were more than 50% above the standard level. Symptoms of posture and motion that cause WMSD were hand-arm vibration syndrome 68.1%, myofascial pain syndrome 58.6%, lower back pain 51.1%, CTS 50.4% in order. Experience WMSD related symptoms which dental hygienists experience were myofascial pain syndrome 92.9%, CTS 57.9%, lower back pain 56.4%, medial and lateral epicondylitis 37.2%, hand-arm vibration syndrome 24.4%. Conclusion: The above results showed the posture and motion of dental hygienists and were found that the experience rate which dental hygienists experience WMSD of myofascial pain syndrome, Lower back pain, and CTS was significantly more than 56%.
