상백피 수성 엑기스의 혈압강하작용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hypotensive Action of Mori Radicis Cortex Water Extract in the Rabbit.)

  • Intravenous injection of Mori Radicis Cortex Water Extract (MWE) regularly caused the does-related, lowering of blood pressure in the rabbits anesthetized with urethane, and then did not show the cumulative effect and the tachyphylaxis. The hypotensive effects of MWE were inhibited by atropine, chlorisodamine, phentolamine and bethanidine, while not altered by diphenhydramine, propranolol and cyproheptadine. Atropine after chlorisondamine did not alter the effect of MWE. MWE potentiated the pressor effect of nore-pinephrine, but did not carotid occlusion was inhibited by previous administration of MWE. It is conclude that MWE elicits hypotensive action in the rabbit by the centrally induced cholinergic effect and the inhibitation of responses to sypathetic adrenergic nerve activation.

  • The moyamoya disease is a type of cerebrovascular disease which produces thin abnormal blood vessels like haze in the brain base because the end of internal carotid artery which supplies about 80% of blood is blocked. Regarding this moyamoya disease, the shearing stress and thrombus generation are mentioned as its main causes. This study three-dimensionally implemented the ICA, ACA, and MCA parts of the cerebrovascular configuration related to the moyamoya disease, and analyzed the hydrodynamic phenomenon with the commercial program ADINA. In particular, the correlations between shearing stress and speed distribution according to the branch angle of ACA and MCA. A numerical analysis found that the greater the branch angle of ACA and MCA, the lower the shearing stress and the greater the stationary area of the flow.. Put Abstract text here.

Severe Symptomatic Vasospasm following Intraventricular Hemorrhage from Arteriovenous Fistula

  • The authors present a rare case of severe vasospasm following the rupture of arteriovenous fistula. On initial CT scan, hematoma in the corpus callosum and left inferior frontal region with surrounding cerebromalacia and all ventricles without apparent subarachnoid hemorrhage were seen. Angiograms showed arterivenous fistula but did not show cerebral vasospasm. Thirteen days after admission the neurological state of patient suddenly deteriorated and bilateral motor weaknesses developed. Following angiograms revealed severe narrowing on the supraclinoid portion of bilateral internal carotid arteries, bilateral anterior cerebral arteries and bilateral middle cerebral arteries. Transluminal angioplasty and intra-arterial papaverine infusion were performed. The patient remained stable with moderate neurologic deficits.

Anomalous Variations of the Origin and Course of Vertebral Arteries in Patients with Retroesophageal Right Subclavian Artery

  • We present two rare cases of anomalous vertebral artery (VA) with retroesophaqeal right subclavian artery. One patient had a right VA arising from the right common carotid artery (CCA), and a left VA originating from the third branch off the aorta. Both VAs ascended anteriorly to the transverse foramen of C5 to C6 vertebra and entered the transverse foramen of C4. The other patient had a right VA arising from the right CCA and entering the transverse foramen of C5. The presence of anomalous variations of the oriqin and course of vertebral artery might have serious implications in anqioqraphic and surgical procedures, and it is of great importance to be aware of such a possibility.

  • Although Dacron and ePTFE have most widely been used for artificial vascular grafts, these materials cannot be used for small-diameter grafts (l.D.<6mm) due to thrombotic occlusion. To overcome this limitation, a small-diameter vascular graft was developed with stem cell and tissue engineering method. Autologous bone marrow stem cells were cultured and seeded onto small-diameter (4mm) collagen tubular matrices. The matrices were anastomosed to carotid arteries in canine models. Prior to implantation, histological and electron microscopical examination revealed stem cell adhesion and growth on the matrices. Angiography indicated that the vascular grafts maintained patent for 8 weeks. Histological examination showed the regeneration of endothelium, media and adventitia in the grafts. This study may allow us to step forward to the development of tissue-engineered small-diameter vascular graft appropriate for clinical applications.

  • This studies were performed for investigation of mechanism on central antidiuretic action of L$_{G}$-Nitro-L-arginine (L-NOARG), nitic oxide systhase inhibitor, in dog. Antidiuretic action of L-NOARG infused into the carotid artery was not affected by renal denervation but inhibited by pretreatment with arginine, NO Precusor. Furthermore, L-NOARG inhibited the diuretic action of dopamine induced by hemodynamic development. Above results suggest that antidiuretic actions of L-NOARG mediated by endogenous substances not associated with renal nerve. Therefore, it is demonstrated that those endogenous substances might be associated with NO which mediate the diuretic action of dopamine.e.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate effects of 'Oyo-Tang' on the respiratory system. The results of this study were summarized as follows; 1. Antihistamine and relaxed dialating actions were recognized on the extracted ileum and serial broncheal samples in guinea-pigs. 2. Mild hypertensive action was recognized on the carotid artery in rabbits. 3. Antitussive action was noted on mechanically irritated coughs in dogs and cats. In connection with the results of these studies, effects based on the Oriental medical references were consistent with the actual experimental results. It was considered that effective application of 'Oyo-Tang' for the treatment of cough and asthma could be justified.

경부 식도협착 재건술에 있어서 유리공장 이식편의 이용 (Reconstruction of the Cervical Esophagus Using the Free Jejunal Graft)

  • The cervical esophageal stricture has various surgical modalities and difficulties in reconstruction. We had experienced a case of successful reconstruction of the cervical esophageal restenosis using the free jejunal graft, on 30 year old man had had esophageal stricture after ingestion of lye. He had undergone colon interposition[esophagocologastrostomy] with left colon feeding gastrostomy. But restenosis was occurred just above of the cervical esophagocolostomy site several times of balloon dilatation were failed. So, we decided to use of the free jejunal graft. The free jejunal graft was isolated about 15cm length with it`s vascular arcades. The graft was irrigated with the mixed solution as isotonic saline, heparin and papaverine chloride. The artery of graft was anastomosed to the branch of the external carotid artery in end to side with continuous sutures of the 8.0 Prolene. The vein of the graft was anastomosed to the branch of the anterior facial vein in end to end with continuous sutures of the 8.0 prolene. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged after removal of the tracheostomy cannula and gastrostomy tube.

Quantitative Doppler echocardiography during Dobutamine stress test in canine mitral regurgitant model

  • This study was performed to evaluate echocardiographic parameters in dogs with experimental mitral regurgitation subjected to dobutamine stress testing. In 8 beagle dogs, a 4-prong grasping forceps was inserted into the left ventricle through the carotid artery with fluoroscopic guidance. The disruption of chordae or mitral valve leaflet was performed. Echocardiographic protocols included quantitative Doppler echocardiography and M-mode measurement for evaluating left ventricle function. After all measurement was obtained at rest, dobutamine was infused incrementally. In stress testing, all measurement also was performed at rest as the same method. In stress Doppler echocardiography, regurgitant fraction and aortic stroke volume was increased significantly (P<0.001). Effective regurgitant orifice and regurgitant volume was not changed. In M-mode examination, fractional shortening was increased significantly at stress test (P<0.001). From the results obtained in this study, it could be suggested that dobutamine stress echocardiography increase left ventricle performance in non-functional mitral regurgitation and quantitative Doppler echocardiography is non-invasive, accurate method in valvular regurgitation.

갈근이 뇌허혈 손상 흰쥐의 해마 구역별 HSP70 발현에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Puerariae Radix on HSP70 Expression in Ischemic Damaged Rats)

  • This study investigated a HSP70 expression of Puerariae Radix in cerebral ischemia. The global cerebral ischemia was induced by bilateral common carotid arteries occlusion under hypotension (40 mmHg) in Sprague-Dawley rats. After the treatment of Puerariae Radix extract, the heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) expressions were measured immunohistochemically. The upregulation of HSP70 expression in hippocampal regions resulted by cerebral ischemia. Then Puerariae Radix treatment demonstrated significant decrease of HSP70 expressions in CA1 region and dentate gyrus of the hippocampus as compared with control group. These results suggested that Puerariae Radix reveals the neuroprotective effect through the control of noxious stress stimulations to neurons.
