적재작업과 교통사고의 연관성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Loading Work and Traffic Accidents)

  • Ensuring the safe arrival of delivery cargo at its intended destination is of utmost importance. Truck drivers play a crucial role in guaranteeing the secure delivery of cargo without any mishaps. However, there are various factors that may lead to delayed arrival of trucks at their destination, such as late departures or prolonged loading operations. The timely departure of cargo transportation is contingent upon several variables, including the driver's experience, cargo volume, and loading time. If the transportation commencement is delayed, it may increase the risk of accidents due to an elevated operating speed. Consequently, we conducted a study to investigate the correlation between cargo loading time, cargo volume, driving experience, and the likelihood of accidents. Our findings indicate that both cargo volume and driver experience can impact the likelihood of vehicle accidents. Furthermore, all factors can have an interactive effect on the occurrence of accidents. However, extending the loading time may mitigate the impact on the likelihood of accidents.

항만에서의 액체화물 선적 및 하역에 따른 VOCs 증발 배출량 산정에 관한 연구 (Estimation of VOC Evaporative Emissions from Liquid Cargo Loading and Unloading at Ports)

  • Background: CAPSS missing evaporate emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from liquid cargo loading and unloading at ports. It needs to be supplemented to improve air quality management and allow more effective policy formulation. Objectives: In this study, the VOC emissions from the loading and unloading of liquid cargo at ports, which are not included in CAPSS, were estimated. The results of this study were compared and analyzed with the emission levels as described by CAPSS, confirming the need for managing VOC emissions from the loading and unloading of liquid cargo. Methods: Methodology provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was applied to estimate the VOC emissions from the loading and unloading of liquid cargo at ports. The types of liquid cargo loaded at unloaded at ports are diverse, but for this study emissions were estimated for 37 VOCs designated by the Ministry of Environment. Results: The estimated results for VOC emissions from liquid cargo loading and unloading at domestic ports was 112,079 tons/yr, which was confirmed to be 11% of the known CAPSS emissions. The highest emissions were found from the loading and unloading of naptha, and the port with the highest emissions was Ulsan Port. Conclusions: The results of the estimated VOC emissions from liquid cargo loading and unloading at ports confirmed the high emission levels. To protect the health of port workers and nearby residents, it is essential to manage the emission sources and undertake continuous research.

항공 특송화물 탑재계획을 위한 알고리즘 (An Algorithm for the Loading Planning of Air Express Cargoes)

  • For air express service providers offering various express delivery services such as overnight delivery and next-business day delivery services, establishing quickly cargo loading plans is one of important issues owing to the characteristics of air express business, i.e., a short amount of time is available to complete all cargo loading operations before flight departure after receiving air express containers, pallets and bulks. On the other hand, one of major concerns in the air cargo loading planning is to make a plan that insures the stability of an aircraft to avoid take-off, flight, and landing accidents. To this end, this paper considers an air cargo loading planning problem, which is the problem of determining locations in the aircraft cargo space where air containers, pallets and bulks to be loaded while insuring the aircraft stability, motivated from DHL and Air Hong Kong. The objective of the problem is to maximize the total revenue gained from loading air express containers, pallets and bulks. To solve the problem, this paper suggests a simulated annealing algorithm to overcome impracticality of the integer programming model developed by a previous study requiring excessive computation time. The results of computational experiments show that the heuristic algorithm is a viable tool for establishing express cargo loading plans as giving robust and good solutions in a short amount of computation time. Scenario analyses are performed to investigate the effect of the current activities of air express carriers on the revenue change and to draw practical implications for air express service providers.

황해형 하역시스템의 구조설계 (Structural Design of Cargo Handling System for the Yellow Sea Area)

  • Western coastal ports of Korea experience severe tidal range with up to 9.7 meter between high and low tides. The significant water level variation implicates many operational difficulties during loading and un-loading from cargo ships. To overcome problems due to tide and to secure the continuous loading operation, a new loading system for container cargo called "container pallet system" is developed and introduced in the paper. Three types of structure forms, offshore structural deck, double bottom structural form and the mixed form, are inverstigated with MSC/NASTRAN software. The results prove that the mixed type structure with truss enforcement is found to be the most appropriate for the region.

  • The optimal shipping location is determined by measuring the volume and weights of cargo shipped to non-standard cargo carriers. Currently, workers manually measure cargo volume, but automate it to improve work inefficiency. In this paper, we proposed the method of a real-time volume calculation using LiDar sensor for automating cargo measurement of non-standard cargo. For this purpose, we utilized the statistical techniques for data preprocessing and volume calculation, also used Voxel Grid filter to light weighted of data which are appropriate in real-time calculation. We implemented the function of Normal vectors and Triangle Mesh to generate surfaces and Alpha Shapes algorithms to process 3D modeling.

  • This paper describes a system for LNG carrier's loading and discharging work education. This system consists of three modules(cargo work simulation, ballast work simulation and loading calculation module), and could be a useful to train mariners boarding on LNG carrier so as to take a suitable action while their ship maneuvering and cargo handling.

  • The Internation Maritime Organization (IMO) has required that ships other than cellular-ships which carry cargo units and other entities should be provided with a cargo securing manual. A number of serious accidents has resulted from improper stowage and insufficient securing of heavy cargo. The cargo claims caused by the accidents stated above not only reduce the number of shippers but also reduce their benefits. The following four basic safe items should be considered carefully in the carriage by sea in case of two tiers loading of heavy cargoes packed with wooden case if it is a general cargo ship. a) Safe stowing place b) Safe lashing c) Protecting crushing goods d) Adequate dunnage. All operators of cargoes must be reminded that only the proper stowge and securing of heavy cargos can prevent from the occurrence of such accidents in the future. This paper intends to analyze the unigue damage mechanism for two tiers loading of heavy cargoes on the general cargo ships encountered in the rough sea, and suggest the countermeusere to prevent the identical accidents in the future.

  • In modern society, the delivery service market has grown explosively due to rapid changes in social structure and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, various problems such as injury to workers and an increase in human accidents are occurring due to the loading and unloading of parcels. In order to solve this problem, domestic company n is developing a "robot-based cargo loading and unloading system". In developing a new technology system, quantitative reliability targets should be set for efficient operation and development. In this paper, reliability analysis was conducted through field data for the pneumatic gripper of the "robot-based cargo loading system". The reliability of the failure data was analyzed to estimate the distribution parameters and MTTF. Random data was derived for the probability of occurrence of a failure with the estimated value. By repeating the simulation to predict the number and year of failures according to the estimated parameters of the probability distribution, it was proposed as a method that reflects realistic probabilities rather than calculating with simple arithmetic using the average MTTF previously used in the field.

  • A heating cargo is solidified by several reasons during carnage. This study is to analyse a cargo accident which 811, 202 US barrels of Nile Blend crude oil reamined solid in the tanks after discharge. There are some possibilities that low temperature of loading cargo below cloud point and wax appearance temperature at loading time, heating interruption during voyage or discharging, and prohibition of crude oil washing during discharging might influence the cargo solidified. But we concluded that the defect of heating system would most affect the heating cargo solidified locally, and which blocked drain hole of bottom transverse and web frame and they obstruct flow of heating cargo in the tanks.

  • 현재 국내에서는 물류시설의 부족, 물류시설의 비효율적 운영, 복잡한 유통구조, 물류산업의 낙후, 폐쇄적 정보 이용 등으로 인하여 필요 이상의 물류비용이 발생하고 있다. 이런 문제들을 해결하기 위해서는 물류구조의 전반적인 개선 및 물류시설의 확충 등이 필요하다. 하지만, 이러한 노력들이 기존의 원단위식 규모예측으로 이루어진다면 차량의 하역특성을 세밀히 고려하지 못하게 되고, 또한 향후 하역작업의 기계화 및 자동화 등으로 인한 작업능률의 향상을 반영하지 못 할 우려가 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 화물터미널에서의 화물차량의 이용현황을 기초로 대기행렬이론(queueing theory)을 적용함으로써 화물차량의 하역특성이 고려된 화물터미널의 최적규모산정법을 제시하였다. 또한, 현재의 하역시스템에서 이루어지는 작업들이 기계화 및 자동화, 정보화되었을 경우에는 화물터미널의 최적규모에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 하역시간의 규칙성 증가가 화물터미널의 규모변화에 미치는 영향은 크지 않은 것으로 나타났으며, 하역속도 및 서비스율의 향상은 화물터미널의 규모변화에 매우 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
