The assistant field workers selected their job in order to the superficial rather than implementing job itself. 3. Most of the workers either in the health center or in the Up-Myun had a better understanding concerning with their job ; contraceptive methods, maintenance of equipment and drug keeping, and other administrative procedures, etc., 4. They had relatively better understanding and sufficient knowledge about contraception itself and application of it's methods and side effects in detail too, but less knowledges for the care after. 5. It was hard to Find out any differences in administrative knowledge and demographic understanding. 5. It is fully agreed upon that the longer the worker have experienced with the program, the more skilful she applied. 7. The worker who had training whether pre-service or insertive are working more effectively than the untrained. 8. The study was approved by KUIRS, and the data were collected from August 12 to September 30, 2015, and analyzed using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. The participants of this study were 200 care workers at ten different long-term care hospitals in B city and G province. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Stepwise multiple regression. The turnover intention was significantly correlated with emotional labor (r=.372, p<.001), job stress (r=.471, p<.001), and burnout (r=.411, p<.001). In the multiple regression, job stress (${\beta}=.290$, p<.001), burnout (${\beta}=.239$, p<.001), type of employment (${\beta}=.185$, p<.001), and emotional labor (${\beta}=.157$, p=.017) were identified as factors influencing the turnover intention. These factors explained 32.6% of the total variance in the turnover intention. Based on the results, in order to reduce the turnover intention, the improvement of work environment and clear job-descriptions are needed to reduce the job stress, and the development and implementation of proactive psycho-social interventions are necessary to reduce burnout and emotional labor in care workers at long-term care hospitals.

  • The major goal of caring the elderly is not to cure the patient, but rather to improve or maintain the individual functional ability. With the aged population increases, there is increasing consensus among health care workers about the importance of developing a tool to measure and evaluate the health status of the elderly. As many writers is pointing out, care of the elderly embraces the spectrum of physical-social-psychological problems and an enormous number of variables could be introudeced into the health worker's routine measurement. But such an expansive approach to measurement could have disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to introduce the measurement tools of physical functioning, perhaps the most important measure required in long-term care, which are separated into three categories of measures; general physical health, ADL, IADL. It is important that all health workers who provide care to the elderly incorporate the concepts of functional health status into the routine assessments. And continuous study about reliability and validity is needed to apply those foreign tools to Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of obesity with medical care use and costs according to overall diseases, cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), ischemic heart disease (IHD), hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM). The final sample was a group of persons who were free of diseases mentioned above and were not underweight. Their baseline screening program data and health insurance contribution data were connected with a 7-year medical claim database. The participants were classified according to their baseline BMI into normal, overweight, obese, and severely obese groups. Given the disease type, the total costs of DM showed the largest difference in each obesity group in both males and females. Also, the pharmacy costs for DM were more relevant than any other type of service to the obesity level. Considering the high prevalence of obesity and the relevantly increased medical care use and costs, there is a need for reduction in medical costs through obesity prevention efforts.
