차체 구조 차이에 따른 충돌 고주파 신호 전달성 연구 (A Study on the Signal Transmissibility of High Frequency Crash Pulse according to the Car Structure Difference)

  • Wide range frequency pulses occur in a car crash test. Until now, low frequency under 400Hz has been used to determine an airbag deployment criteria. Also, FIS (Front Impact Sensor) has been used to detect the crash pulse in early stage. Nowadays, technology to determine an airbag delpoyment criteria by using a high frequency crash pulse without FIS is being focused on. In this paper, the signal transmissibility of high frequency pulse for two different cars was studied. Also, signal transfer test of high frequency pulse was done by using a high speed ball impact. Signal runtime of the frontal impact is compared with that of the side impact. The signal transmissibility difference due to the car structure difference was discussed and structure change for improving the signal transmissibility was proposed.

  • 도로안전시설 설치 및 관리 지침 차량방호 안전시설 편에서 충격흡수시설은 실물충돌시험을 통해 성능 기준을 만족하는 제품만을 현장에 설치하도록 하고 있다. 그러나 기존의 설치된 충격흡수시설의 경우 설치 환경에 따라 방호해야할 구조물과의 폭 차이로 인하여 방호성능을 발휘하지 못하는 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 다양한 환경에 적용하기 위하여 높이 150 mm의 W형 가드레일을 200 mm 간격으로 4단 배치하는 충격흡수시설을 LS-DYNA 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 개발하고 실물충돌시험을 통하여 성능 기준을 검증하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 개발한 충격흡수시설이 CC2등급의 성능 기준을 만족한다는 것을 실물충돌시험으로 확인하였고 시뮬레이션 결과와 실물충돌시험 결과를 비교 분석하여 충돌 시뮬레이션의 결과가 유의미하다는 것을 확인하였다.

승용차 충돌을 고려한 가로등주 설계 (Design of a column for streetlamp considering the car crash)

  • A column for streetlamp has been damaged by severe wind loads such as typhoon. The stress concentration around the inspection hole may cause the collapse of the column for streetlamp. In this paper, the effects due to the wind load of 60 m/s and the car crash to the column at the speed of 48 km/h were considered to examine the design stability analysis of the column for streetlamp. The maximum von Mises stress did not exceed the yield stress of the material. Considering the car crash, the column for streetlamp was not collapsed.

성인용 자전거의 승용차량 충돌특성 (Collision Characteristics of an Adult Bicycle to a Car)

  • In the present the usage of bicycle has increased steeply due to well-being and convenient way of movement. In car to bicycle accident, the throw distance of bicycle is very important factor for estimating collision situation. In this study, simulations and collision tests in actual car to bicycle were executed for obtaining throw distance of bicycle. The simulations were executed by PC-CRASHTM s/w with vehicle of sedan type. Sand bags were used for the behavior of bicyclist instead of dummy and factors considered were vehicle velocity, the crashed angles and part of bicycle to vehicle, and bicycle was adult type. From the results, the throw distances of tire collision of 00 was longer than that of 450 tire crash, and the throw distances of 900 frame crash were longer than those of 450 frame crash. With based on actual crash tests and simulations, restitution coefficient of between vehicle and bicycle was estimated as 0.1. Finally the increaser vehicle velocity the longer the throw distances of bicycle and the simulation results were relatively good agreement to the results of experiment.

SUV 차량의 전면 구조 형상에 따른 충돌 속도와 보행자 전도 거리의 상관관계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between Impact Speed and Throw Distance of Pedestrian by the difference of the frontal shape of SUV vehicles)

  • The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car and bus by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m, there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed. The throw distance of pedestrian by Bus is shorter than that of passenger car and SUV at each impact speed.

  • An extensive real world in-depth crash accident data is needed to make a precise occupant injury risk prediction at crash accidents which might be a critical information from the scene of the accident in ACNS(Automatic Crash Notification System). However it is rather unfortunate that there is no such a domestic database unlike other leading countries. Therefore we propose a numerical method, i.e., crash simulation using a sled model to make a virtual database that can substitute car crash database in real world. The proposing crash injury risk prediction is validated against a limited domestic crash accident data.

  • Crash box is introduced to vehicle design to improve the impact performance and reduce the damage of vehicle body at impact speed. The crash box behind bumper can absorb impact energy effectively to improve vehicle safety. Repair cost at collision accident can be cut down by use of this box. The configuration of car body must be designed by considering the characteristic of material due to the deformation of car body happened at impact. Many papers have been published about material of crash box all over the world. The study of crash box with tube expansion type has been going on Korea. This study is done by the simulation analysis about front collisions against 5 kinds of aluminum crash boxes with the basic structure of square section.

  • The design of an occupant protection equipment has been considered as the important process in developing a new car since the crash performance plays an important role on the market. The cost is increased when an unexpected real test is carried out in the proto-design stage. Thus, the exact prediction of a crash performance can reduce the number of full-car test. In this research, the robust design of an airbag system considering the frontal crash is suggested to predict the more reliable responses. On the contrary, most existing researches do not consider the uncertainties. The uncertainties treated in this research are the tolerances of the vent hole, the time to fire and the length of a strap in airbag and the tolerance of the load limiter load in seat belt. The Taguchi method is utilized to determine the robust optimum of each parameter

  • Crashworthiness design is of special interest in automotive industry and in the transportation safety field to ensure the vehicle structural integrity and more importantly the occupant safety in the event of the crash. Front side assembly is one of the most important energy absorbing components in relating to the crashworthiness design of vehicle. The structure and shape of the front side assemblies are different depending on auto-makers and size of vehicles. Thus, it is not easy to grab an insight on designer's intention when you glance at a new front side member without experiences. In this paper, we have performed the explicit nonlinear dynamic finite element analysis on the front side assembly of passenger cars to identify the mechanical roles of major parts in relation to collapse modes from the viewpoint of reverse engineering. To do this, we have performed crash FE analysis for the two different assemblies of small car and heavy passenger car and have compared dynamic behaviors of the two.

  • This study carried out passenger safety assessment by real car crash simulation of composite post structures for road facilities. The effects of different material properties of composites for various parameters are studied using the LS-DYNA finite element program for this study. In this study, the existing finite element analysis of steel post structures using the LS-DYNA program is further extended to study dynamic behaviors of the structures made of various composite materials. The numerical results for various parameters are verified by comparing different models with displacements and stress distribution occurred in the post and car.
