정면 오프셋 충돌시 가스튜브를 이용한 차량용 범퍼의 손상성, 수리성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Damageability and Repairability of the Car Bumper Systems with Gas Tube)

  • The car crash accidents in low speed occurs most frequently. Damage on a conventional bumper after the car accident causes the bumper to get fixed most of time. This study shows how a gas tube bumper reduces a damageability and increase repairability after the car accidents. The 15 km/h 40% offset front and rear crash test recommended by RCAR (Research council for automobile repairs) standard was performed and evaluated damages on the gas tube bumper by the pendulum impact tester. In this study, the gas tube bumper reduces damageability and increases repairability after car crash accidents. In addition, car frame design to apply the gas tube bumper may consider to be changed.

정면충돌 시 고령운전자 상해 특성에 관한 실사고 연구 (Real-world Accident Study on Injury Characteristics of Elderly Driver in Car-to-Car Frontal Crashes)

  • Real-world accident cases were investigated to understand injury characteristics of the elderly driver. A total 10 cases of car-to-car frontal crash accidents from passenger car including SUV claimed to domestic car insurance company were reviewed. The injury characteristics of the elderly were analyzed from personal information (gender, age), medical treatment record (medical certificate, curative days), vehicle information (model, air-bag, seatbelt) and damage information. This study showed that elderly driver has higher possibility of thorax injury than non-elderly's. Moreover, Injury type and severity were more severe than non-elderly driver at similar type accident conditions. Also, elderly driver's medical treatment period needs 3 times more than non-elderly driver's.

자동차보험 과실기준 기반 자동차사고유형 체계화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Classification of the Car Accidents Types based on the Negligence Standards of Auto Insurance)

  • According to the Korean Traffic Accident Analysis System (TAAS), more than 200,000 traffic accidents occur every year. Also, the statistics including auto insurance companies data show 1.3 million traffic accidents. In the case of TAAS, the types of traffic accidents are simply divided into four; frontal collision, side collision, rear collision, and rollover. However, more detailed information is needed to assess for advanced driver assist systems at intersections. For example, directional information is needed, such as whether the vehicle in the car accident way in a straight or a left turn, etc. This study intends to redefine the type of accident with the more clear driving direction and path by referring to the Negligence standards used in automobile insurance accidents. The standards largely divide five categories of car-to-car/motorcycle /pedestrian/cyclist, and highway, and the each category is classified into dozens of types by status of the traffic signal, conflict situations. In order to present more various accident types for auto insurance accidents, the standards are reclassified driving direction and path of vehicles from crash situations. In results, the car-to-car accidents are classified into 33 accident types, car-to-pedestrian accidents have 19 accident types, car-to-motorcycle accidents have 38 accident types, and car-to-cyclist accidents are derived into 26 types.

  • An extensive real world in-depth crash accident data is needed to make a precise occupant injury risk prediction at crash accidents which might be a critical information from the scene of the accident in ACNS(Automatic Crash Notification System). However it is rather unfortunate that there is no such a domestic database unlike other leading countries. Therefore we propose a numerical method, i.e., crash simulation using a sled model to make a virtual database that can substitute car crash database in real world. The proposing crash injury risk prediction is validated against a limited domestic crash accident data.

상호안전성을 고려한 차대차 정면 충돌 안전성 선행 연구 (A Study on Car-to-car Frontal Impact Considering the Vehicle Compatibility)

  • In recent years, NCAP regulations of many countries have induced automaker to improve the vehicle crashworthiness. But, the current NCAP regulations don't cover all types of traffic accidents. And rapid-increasing market share of compact cars and SUVs has brought for both consumer and automaker to pay more attention on crash compatibility. So, many countries have tried to develop the new crash test mode and update the present crash test mode. Especially, Euro NCAP has been developing a new impact protocol of the car-to-car frontal offset impact including the crash compatibility assessment. There are plans to introduce this new protocol in 2020, and it will be replaced the current Euro NCAP frontal offset impact. The test dummy in the front seats of this new test mode will be changed from 50% Hybrid-III male to 50% THOR male. This paper will address the vehicle responses, the occupant responses and the vehicle compatibility performance from a full vehicle crash test using the new car-to-car frontal offset test protocol of Euro NCAP.

FWDB 정면충돌시험에 대한 연구 (Study on FWDB Frontal Vehicle Crash Test)

  • In proportion to increasing interest in vehicle safety, many country have regulated vehicle safety and performed NCAP(New Car Assessment Program). However vehicles which had good results in these compliance and NCAP frontal crash test have caused problems such as the fork effect and over-riding in real car-to-car accidents. To complement these issues, new frontal crash test modes using new barrier like FWDB and PDB have been developed by EEVC WG15. In this paper, FWDB frontal crash test was performed and the result was compared with the full frontal crash test using the rigid wall in order to comprehend the characteristic of FWDB. The results of FWDB test were compared with one of USNCAP and KNCAP. Using USNCAP data, vehicle performance like deformation and wall force were studied. A comparative study of dummy injuries was made by using KNCAP result. The results showed that vehicle performance of FWDB test like displacement and effective acceleration was similar in spite of absorbing energy of FWDB due to the greater vehicle deformation of rigid wall test. In FWDB test, driver dummy head bottomed out but most of injuries were superior to the injury of rigid wall test.

도로변 수직구조물 충돌사고의 심각도 영향요인에 관한 연구 (Crash Severity Impact of Fixed Roadside Objects using Ordered Probit Model)

  • OBJECTIVES : Fixed roadside objects are a threat to drivers when their vehicles deviate from the road. Therefore, such roadside objects need to be suitably dealt with to decrease accidents. This study determines the factors affecting the severity of accidents because of fixed roadside objects. METHODS : This study analyzed the crash severity impact of fixed roadside objects by using ordered probit regression as the analysis methodology. In this research, data from 896 traffic accidents reported in the last three years were used. These accidents consisted of sole-car accidents, fixed roadside object accidents, and lane-departure accidents on the national highway of Korea. The accident severity was classified as light injury, severe injury, and death. The factors relating to the road and the driver were collected as independent variables. RESULTS : The result of the analysis showed that the variables of the crash severity impact are the collision location (left side), gender of the driver (female), alcohol use, collision facility (roadside trees, traffic signals, telephone poles), and type of road (rural segments). Additionally, the collision location (left side), gender of the driver (female), alcohol use, collision facility (street trees, traffic signals, telephone poles), and type of road (rural segments), in order of influence, were found to be the factors affecting the crash severity in accidents due to fixed roadside objects. CONCLUSIONS : An alternative solution is urgently required to reduce the crash severity in accidents due to fixed roadside objects. Such a solution can consider the appropriate places to install breakaway devices and energy-absorbing systems.

차대차 충돌평가(MPDB)에서 충돌 각도 및 젖힘자세 특성 등에 따른 승객 상해 연구 (Study About the Crash Safety of Occupants According to the Reclining Postures and Impact Angle under MPDB Test Types)

  • As advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) and autonomous driving performance continue to improve, existing crash accidents and crash types are changing. Accordingly, the collision angle and the seating posture of the occupant are changed. It is necessary to study how the occupant injury mechanism changes according to these different crash types. In this regard, a representative crash test mode was derived when the automatic emergency braking system (AEB), one of the autonomous driving performance, was applied to the representative car-to-car crash scenario in Korea. The derived crash test mode was used to analyse the mechanisms of collision injuries according to both impact angle and the occupant seating posture (reclined seat-back angle). The results obtained through this study can be utilized as reference data for the development of new crash evaluation methods and improvements in crash restraint systems for enhancing crash safety.

시뮬레이션을 통한 차대 보행자의 교통사고 분석 (Analysis for Traffic Accidents against Car-Pedestrian on Simulation)

  • 최근 심각한 차대 보행자의 교통사고로 인명피해가 발생함에도 불구하고 사고원인에 대한 과학적으로 정확히 규명하지 못해 사고처리에 대한 논쟁이 끊임없이 발생하여 경제적 손실 및 정신적 고통이 가중되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 차대보행자의 교통사고분석을 위해 객관적인 교통사고관련 물적 증거자료를 토대로 차량공학, 주행역학), 충돌역학, 교통 및 도로공학 등을 검토하였고, PC-Crash 프로그램을 이용하여 충돌전 차량의 충돌초기속도, 진행궤적 및 충돌자세, 충돌전후속도, 충돌지점 등의 인자를 적용한 결과를 얻어 교통사고의 원인을 분석하였다. 그 결과로 스키드마크 및 보행자 충돌속도는 이론값과 비교할 때 각각 11.2%, 2.27%의 오차를 얻었다.

소형차도로 방호울타리 형식선정을 위한 충돌계수 및 방호울타리 높이선정 연구 (A Study of Impact Factors and Barrier Height of Compact Car Road for Decision of Barrier Type)

  • 본 연구에서는 소형차도로 방호울타리 형식선정의 필수요소인 충돌계수 분석 및 방호울타리 높이 선정을 위해 현재의 기준을 적용하는 과정에서 생긴 문제점을 파악하여 개선점을 제시하고 이를 해외기준과 비교분석하여 방호울타리의 형식결정을 위한 기준을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 소형차관련 사고사례분석을 실시하였고, 사고사례를 토대로 방호울타리의 형식선정에 중요인자인 충돌각도, 충돌차량, 충돌속도를 비교 분석 및 소형차 방호울타리의 소요높이를 결정하였다. 충돌각도의 경우 편도 2차로 고속도로 사고사례를 분석하여 유럽 RISER 연구 결과와 비교하여 상향조정의 필요성을 도출하였다. 충돌차량의 경우 경차, 소형승용차, 중형 및 대형승용차, 승용차(SUV), 승합차 및 소형 트럭으로 나누어 분석을 실시하였으며, 충돌사고소형차 사고누적율에 기반한 차량중량 및 충돌속도를 회귀분석하였으며 수도권고속도로 누적통행비율을 감안 충돌중량을 결정하였다. 또한 그 결과를 토대로 소형차도로 방호울타리 높이를 계산하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 소형차도로 형식선정에 중요한 인자가 된다.
