  • Nowadays, most automotives companies are making use of laser welding in car body assembly shop. But even though laser welding is better than resistance spot welding in many points, its application has been limited to special technology for manufacturing. The paper introduces in the field of remote welding system(RWS) to improve the process efficiency of laser welding. Positioning time of RWS between welding stitches are dramatically reduced to zero. It is a kind of solutions to generalize laser welding in mass production.

  • It is very important that there are saving resource and energy in the future as well as in these day. Weight saving of structural parts, which are formed by extrusion, plays a key role in manufacturing field. Especially these aluminum parts used in the car need other processes to vary the cross section in the axial direction. Thus, applications of these parts are limited by high cost. if the cross section of the parts is variable by only extrusion, application of extruded aluminum parts will more increase. Therefore, a new CNC extruder which can control the section area of a car part was invented the nation's first. Using the extrusion machine, the experiment and FE analysis were performed during the varied section extrusion process.

  • A Systematic approach to estimate an interior noise level for a railway passenger car has been proposed. The prediction is based on the sound power values obtained from measured sound pressure lever, when a high speed train runs at 300km/hr. Then, the exterior sound pressure value is calculated by using the BEM code. After that, an interior sound lever is estimated, considering the transmission loss of body structures and absorption effect inside of the train. In this application, the estimated noise level is between 66 dBA and 74 dBA. The proposed approach could be useful for rough estimation of a noise level inside a passenger car at the design stage, a]though the method has some limitation to be implement for a general situation.

Effects on the Lumbar & Quadriceps Muscle Activities when Getting in and Out of RV · and Passenger Cars

  • Objective: The objective of this study is to compare muscle activity levels of the lumbar and rectus femoris muscle when entering and exiting RV and passenger vehicles. Background: Three varieties of RVs and two varieties of passenger vehicles were selected for this study. Method: Twenty individual(10 male and 10 female) in their twenties and thirties with no chronic back pain or any other illness participated in this study. Participants performed entering and exiting the three models of RVs and two models of passenger cars. Appropriate rest time was given to participants between entering and exiting each vehicle in order to recover from muscle fatigue while performing their tasks. Results: Results from this study show that muscle activity levels were highest for entering RVs and exiting passenger vehicles. There were no significant differences in muscle activity levels for left and right side muscles in regards to entering and exiting vehicles. Application: These results can be used to provide baseline information for reduce muscle fatigue when getting in and out of vehicles.

  • This paper presents the implementation of an efficient car tracking system based on Inverted DGPS (IDGPS) using mobile phone and internet for data communication link. The IDGPS technique, which may provide the same level of accuracy as DGPS, is subject to degradation in real time applications when transmission time delays occur in the communication links. Therefore, an effective communication system is the key element for successful application of the IDGPS. The combination of internet and mobile phones provides a high data rate, unlimited communication packet size, flexible data structure, and wide coverage without additional communication devices. An implementation of such a data link system is described. Field test results are included to evaluate the performance of the proposed system.

  • This paper presents the usage of software package APM WinMachine for design of train car elements. APM software uses fur maximization of design productivity and efficiency in designing and evaluation machine elements and systems and CAD modeling. In process of machine designing needs make strength calculations of machine parts with complecated design. Will the help of APM software strength calculations can be done quickly. On the Demichovo machine-building plant with the use of APM software were made quickly and effectively strength calculations of the cradle of the suspension of air-conditioner of car train and the mounting brackets of a tank of train toilet.

  • GPS 위성은 측지위성으로 최근에 여러 분야의 민간용, 특히 자동차용 항법장치로 사용 되고 있다. GPS 위성으로 부터 얻어지는 위치정보와 디지탈 정보로 변환된 지도 정보를 결합하 여 자동차용 항법장치를 구성하였다. 이 논문에서는 이 시스템의 구현을 위한 서프트웨어의 작성 과 소프트웨어의 시험 예에 대하여 간단하게 요약한다.

  • Currently, research on more convenient and safer cars for drivers and passengers, the intelligent cars, are being actively conducted. The researches involve designing systems that intelligently minimize physical damages caused by car accidents, not just pursuing passive safety measures like airbags or safety belts. However, there are many cases around the world where airbags cannot be activated in times of accidents and it is difficult for consumers to check if their airbags will be activated, especially for the old-style cars. Thus, in this paper, a base technology for an application that can determine whether the airbags will actually be actuated at a critical moment based on the mechanical calculations is being introduced.

  • 틸팅형 고속열차의 차체에 적용되는 하니컴 복합재 조인트 구조물의 경우 운행중 외팔보형 굽힘하중을 받게된다. 하이브리드 복합재 조인트 구조물에 대한 굽힘시험평가를 수행하기 위해 실제 틸팅열차 차체 구조물에서 조인트부를 절단 채취하여 시험편으로 제작하였다. 굽힘시험결과 시험편의 파괴거동은 정적하중과 피로하중하에서 확연히 달라짐을 보였다. 정적굽힘하중 하에서는 하니컴 코어 영역에서 전단변형과 파괴가 발생하였으며, 피로굽힘하중 하에서는 복합재 표피층과 하니컴 코어층 사이에서 계면분리가 발생하거나, 또는 금속재 언더프레임과의 용접부에서 파괴가 발생하였다. 이러한 파괴거동은 다른 산업분야에서 사용되는 유사한 구조의 하니컴 복합재 조인트 구조물에서도 발생할 수 있기 때문에, 본 실험 결과를 하니컴 복합재 조인트 구조물의 설계변수를 개선하기 위해 이용될 수 있다.

터널을 통과하는 고속열차 차체의 피로신뢰성 평가의 정식화 (Formulation for Reliability-based Fatigue Assessment of Car Body for High Speed Train Passing Through Tunnels)

  • In designing the structures of railway rolling stocks, deterministic methods associated with the concept of a safety factor have been traditionally used. The deterministic approaches based on the mean values of applied loads and material properties have been used as safety verification for the design of rolling-stock car body structures. The uncertainties in the applied loading for the high speed train and the strength of new materials in the rolling stocks require the application of probabilistic approaches to ensure fatigue safety in the desired system. Pressure loadings acting on the car body when the train passes through tunnels show reflected pressure waves for high-speed trains and they may cause a fatigue failure in vehicle bodies. Use of new material technology as body structures also introduces uncertainties in the material strength. A probabilistic approach is more adaptable in designing reliable structures when the pressure waves from the tunnels pounds and new material technology is adopted. In this paper, it is proposed that a fatigue design and assessment method based on a reliability which deals with the loading variations on a railway vehicle due to the pressure reflected in tunnels and the strength variations of material. Equation for the fatigue reliability index has been formulated to calculate the reliability assessment of a vehicle body under fluctuating pressure loadings in a tunnel. Considered in this formulation are the pressure distribution characteristics, the fatigue strength distribution characteristics, and the concept of stress-transfer functions due to the pressure loading.
