PEMS (printed electro-mechanical system) is fabricated by means of various printing technologies. Passive and active components in 2D or 3D such as conducting lines, resistors, capacitors, inductors and TFT, which are printed with functional materials, can be classified in this category. And the issue of PEMS is applied to a R2R process in the manufacturing process. In many electro-devices, the vacuum process is used as the manufacturing process. However, the vacuum process has a problem: it is difficult to apply toa continuous process as a R2R printing process. In this paper, we propose an ESD (electro static deposition) printing process has been used to apply an organic solar cell of thin film forming. ESD is a method of liquid atomization by electrical forces, anelectrostatic atomizer sprays micro-drops from the solution injected into the capillary, with electrostatic force generated by electric potential of about tens of kV. ESD method is usable in the thin film coating process of organic materials and continuous process as a R2R manufacturing process. Therefore, we experiment the thin films forming of PEDOT:PSS layer and Active layer which consist of the P3HT:PCBM. The result of experiment, organic solar cell using ESD thin film coated method is occurred efficiency of about 1.4%. Also, the case of only used to ESD method in the active layer coating is occurred efficiency of about 1.86% as the applying a spin coating in the PEDOT:PSS layer. We can expect that ESD method is possible for continuous process to manufacture in the organic solar cell or OLED device.
Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is present in both the particulate and vapor phase of cigarette mainstream smoke. It is one of the 44 harmful substances on Hoffmann's list and is known to be a major ciliatoxic agent in cigarette mainstream smoke. Typically the determination of HCN in cigarette mainstream smoke has been done through colorimetric and electrochemical techniques, such as UV-spectrophotometry (UV), continuous flow analyzer (CFA), ion chromatography (IC) and capillary GC-ECD. In particular, CFA commonly has been using analysis hydrogen cyanide in cigarette smoke and the basic principle is pyridine-pyrazolone reaction. In this study, the more optimized analytical method is suggested isonicotinic acid-pyrazolone reaction method than previous pyridine-pyrazolone reaction method, a commonly used method for the determination of cyanide in water and air, by CFA. Sample collection was optimized by trapping particulate and vapor phase of smoke separately. The optimum NaOH concentration of the trapping solution was shown to be 0.2 M. HCN was stable up to 6 hours in this concentration but only 3 hours in 0.1 M solution. The sensitivity of this method was fairly good and it might be used in analysis of HCN in cigarette mainstream smoke.
In molecular biology, it is necessary to develop an easy and rapid method to identify a specific DNA sequence. Though Southern and Northern blot techniques have been used widely for the analysis of gene structure and function, those methods are inconvenient in the points that we need to control incubation temperature, time, and other parameters to get the final result. In this study, we report a new method for the rapid analysis of specific DNA sequence with the modification of an immunochromatographic method. The lateral flow DNA analysis strip is composed of a sample pad, a nitrocellulose membrane for the separation and propagation of analytes, and an absorption pad for the generation of capillary action. Capture DNA was immobilized on the membrane by UV cross-linking and target DNA was labeled with Cy-5 for signaling. The samples containing target DNA were applied onto the sample pad, incubated for 15 min for separation, and scanned with a GSI fluorescence scanner. Though the hybridization reaction occurs in a short time without any washing steps, there appears to be little cross hybridization between the different sequences. The result showed a possibility that the new method can be used for the rapid identification of specific DNA sequence among the samples.
The genetically determined ability to metabolize debrisoquine (DBR) is related to risk of lung cancer and DBR hydroxylation exhibits wide inter-individual variation. In this study, 100 korean adults were tested for their ability to metabolize DBR. The DBR metabolic phenotype were determined by metabolic ratio (MR, DBR / 4-HDBR) which is the percent dose excreted as unchanged DBR divided by the percent dose excreted as 4-hydroxyebrisoquine(4-HDBR) in a aliquot of an eight hour urine sample, after 10mg DBR test dose administration. Analysis was performed on a capillary gas chromatograph fitted with electron capture detector. The results were as follows; 1 Geometric mean of DBR MR was 0.32 in male,0.27 in female,0.30 in total and the distribution of log (MR) was seemed to follow normal distribution. 2. Metabolic ratio of DBR was higher in non-smoker and non-drinker than in smoker and drinker without any statistically significant difference. 3. None of personal factors was significantly related to DBR MR except age. 4. The DBR metabolic phenotype was extensive metabolizer(EM) 93, intermediate metabolizer(IM) 7 by traditional method and EM 98, IM 3 by Caporaso's method. The poor metabolizer (PM) phenotype was not found by either method. 5. Maximal expected PM phenotype was 0.36% by traditional method and 0.04% by Caporaso's method.
For the analytical method of PCDD/Fs in blood, which have been issued recently, SRM 1589a of NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology) was used and a practical analytical method of PCDD/Fs in blood was presented through comparison of methods of Canada and Japan. The proposed method used alkali-digestion extraction for removal of the lipid effectively using two capillary columns. The limit of quantification of TeCDD/DF and PeCDD/DF was 1 pg/g-lipid, HxCDD/DF and HpCDD/DF was 2 pg/g-lipid, OCDD/DF was 4 pg/g-lipid. With consideration the range of detected concentration, calibration standards were presented as $CS_L$(0.1~1), $CS_1/2$(0.25~2.5), $CS_1$(0.5~5.0), $CS_2$(2~20), $CS_3$(10~100).
Reduced glutathione (GSH) plays a vital role in the metabolism of all cells. Glutathions, a tripeptide cowfosed of glutamic acid, cysteane, and gtycina is synthesized by two synthesized reutions. The first is catalyzed by Y-glutamylcysteine synthetase (GSH-I) and the second by glutathione synthetase (GSH-ll). The glutathione biosynthetic pathway of E. coziis mainly controlled by nonallosteric feedback inhibition of GHS-I by GSH. Determination of the three-dimensional structure of GSH-I by X-ray crystallography is necessary in order to understand the structure-function relationship at the molecular level. As the (irst step toward its structure determination, crystallization of 5. coli V-glutamylcystfine synthetase (GSH-I) has been achived using the hanging drop vapor diffusion method and capillaw method. Crystals of GSH-I have been grown from ammonium sulfate solution. The crystals grew at room temperature within 10 days to dimensions of 0.2 m x 0.2 m x 0.2 ml by hanging drop vapor diffusion method and diffracted to about 4 A resolution using synchrotron X-rays. Another crystal, grown by the capillary method to dimensions of 0.25 mm x 0.25 mm x 0.3 mm within 40 days, diffracted to about 4 A resolution using X-rays from a rotating anode.
Homegeneous feedstock is necessary to make plastic magents with uniform magnetic properties, therefore the optrimized mixing route and the homogeneity evaluation method are demanded. In this paper, method of homogeneity evaluation and effect of homogeneity on the magnetic prperites were investigated using Sr-ferrite /EVA plastic magnets. The feedstocks with different homogeneity were prepared using batch mixer and single screw extruder. The homogeneities of feedstocks were tested by torgue sensor, capilary rheometer, and measurement of magnetic properties. Mixing torque measurement using torque sensor was an effective method to determine the critical powder loading, but it was nor suitable to suitable to determine the feedstock mixing quality. Particle alignment measurement of a plastic magent was very accurate to evaluate the homogeneity, but expensive equipments were required to make and measure the samples. Pressure measurement using capillary rheometer was a very effective and easy method with high accuracy. Homogeneous feedstock increased the particle alignment of plastic magnet. Remanet flux density and maximum energy product increased linearly and quadratically with increasing particle alignment, respectively.
A method for the determination of trace amount of caffeine in urine and various drink samples using hollow fiber-liquid phase microextraction (HF-LPME) and capillary gas chromatograph/nitrogen phosphorus detector (GC/NPD) has been established. HF-LPME method has been optimized with respect to several experimental parameters including the effects of the hollow fiber length, extraction solvent, stirring mode, pH and salt concentration for the determination of caffeine from aqueous samples. The correlation coefficient of calibration curve for caffeine was 0.9994. The average recovery was 102%(n=3). The established method is feasible for the determination of trace amounts of caffeine in several aqueous sample. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) have been found to be 2.5 and 10 ng/mL, respectively. The established HF-LPME method for the analysis of caffeine from aqueous sample can be used for the determination of biological, food and environmental samples.

Since polyelectrolytes have been used as conditioners, conventionally only a single polyelectrolyte has been added for sludge conditioning. However, the amount of polyelectrolyte needed for optimal conditioning of sludge is very critical. Overdosing reduces the sludge dewaterbility. In this experimental study, sludge conditioning with single or dual polyelectrolyte was conducted to avoid problems associated with overdosing. Single polyelectrolyte conditioning was conducted by one of cationic, nonionic, and anionic polyelectrolytes. The dual polyelectrolyte conditioning was performed by adding one polyelectrolyte and another one in sequence. The dewaterbility of sludges were measured by SRF(specific resistance to filtration), TTF(time to filter), CST(capillary suction time) respectively. Additionally, parameters such as turbidity, zeta potential, viscosity of conditioned sludges or supematant were measured to evaluate the changed characteristics of sludge by addition of polyelectrolytes. From the experiment results, it was concluded that single polyelectrolyte conditioning had a high probability of overdosing, whereas dual polyelectrolyte conditioning resulted in a better dewaterbility and less chance of overdosing. But, it was also found that dosing sequence in dual conditioning was very important according to the characteristics of sludge. Parameters such as viscosity, turbidity, zeta potential were found to be useful as a means of evaluating sludge dewaterbility.
