  • Pollution load allocation can likely be much controversial, which is essential to formulate the total water pollution load management plan. Existing rules(or guidances) in Korea, can provide no specific criteria for load allocation. Therefore, this paper studied(comprehensively) possible standards how or why to choose any particular allocation method, which was applied in the Gwangju City's load allocation for the satisfaction of set water quality goal. This load allocation is basically focused on the load reduction of domestic wastewater rather than industrial wastewater, because the land-use is strictly regulated and larger sources of pollution are few in the Gwangju City. This paper recommends the city to increase the capacity of sewage treatment plants, promote sewerage maintenance, and set higher effluent standards.

  • This study was done in order to increase production speed using coater dryer in maximum capacity without print mottle. The aim of this study was to measure coating color immobilization content(CCIC) and to decrease CCIC through coating color optimization. The final goal of this study was the prevention of print mottle in maximum drying condition by CCIC control. As a result the measuring method of CCIC was set by brightness transition and the effective factors in pigments and binders were defined. With color optimization considered this factors, CCIC was decreased by 4%. Through this CCIC decrease and modification of coater utility, the print mottle was prevented even though using coater dryer in maximum.

  • In this study, the adsorption behaviors of mercury ions on the electroless Cu-plated activated carbons have been investigated. The amount of copper on activated carbons have been confirmed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The surface properties of the ACs studied have been characterized by using Boehm's titration method and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Experimental results showed the adsorption capacity of mercury ions was increased as the electroless Cu plating. This was probably due to the introduction of copper on ACs leaded to an increase in the surface basicity.

  • The variation of alternative and cytochrome respiration during ripening in rice leaves (Oryza sativa L. cv. Takanari) was examined. The capacity of both respiration pathway was measured by inhibitor titration method using gas-phase oxygen electrodes. The alternative respiration rate decreased from 31.3% of the total respiration rate at around heading to 11.7% at 34 days after heading in the first fully expanded leaf from the top, and further to 6.4 % at 34 days after heading in the fourth leaf from the top. In contrast, the proportion of cytochrome respiration to total respiration increased with leaf senescence. The possible cause of alternative respiration as either an increase in inefficient respiration or a decrease in growth efficiency during ripening was discussed.

  • In this paper, a 3-DOF(Degree Of Freedom) rigid body model is developed for dynamic analysis of a hydrostatic table. The dynamic coefficients, stiffness and damping constant of each pad are calculated from the mass flow continuity condition. The validity of this model is examined in theoretical and experimental method. The dynamic behavior when mass unbalances and local variations of stiffness and damping of pads present is analyzed for real applications of hydrostatic table. Since the theoretical and experimental results show goof agreement. it can be said that the 3-DOF rigid body model is useful for the dynamic model of the table. The analysis reveals that the pitching motion is the dominant mode of vibration, It also reveals that unbalanced loads can increase amplitude of tilting motion and reduce natural frequencies and damping capacity of the hydrostatic table.

  • A typical HTS power transmission cable has multi-layer conductor structure to increase the current capacity. The current distribution among the conductor tapes is controlled mainly by pitches and winding directions of the layers, because the inductance of the layer is determined by the pitch and the winding direction. However, usually the current is not evenly distributed among the layers. This paper describes a method to make the current distribution more uniform and hence reduce the AC loss. If we choose a good combination we can find the optimal pitches and make an even current distribution. We studied the effect of the winding direction on a 2-layer cable by a statistical way. Calculation results and discussions will be presented.

  • Large amount of dredged sea soil is produced in southeast seashore region in during harbor maintenance. Disposal of dredged sea soil has become difficult due to the environmental regulation. Therefore, disposal of dredged sea soil method is to landfill. But, the capacity of the landfill limit state and if the size of the dredged sea soil is in the range of silt or clay, it cannot be used as reclamation material because ground subsidence occur. In this study, analyzed the pozzolanic activity of dredged sea soil. Analysis of the results showed a pozzolanic activity of dredged sea soil. In addition, incorporation of heat treated dredged sea soil increase both 28 and 56 day compressive strength of mortar specimen.

  • This paper is concerned with the structural optimization problem of maximizing the compressive buckling load of orthotropic rectangular plates for a given volume of material. The optimality condition is first derived via variational calculus. It states that the thickness distribution is proportional to the strain energy density contrary to popular claims of constant strain energy density at the optimum. An engineers physical meaning of the optimality condition would be to make the average strain energy density with respect to the depth a constant. A double cosine thickness varying plate and a double sine thickness varying plate are then fine tuned in a one parameter optimization using the Rayleigh-Ritz method of analysis. Results for simply supported square plates indicate an increase of 89% in capacity for an orthotropic plate having 100% of its fibers in $0^{\circ}$ direction.

  • In this Paper, we proposed optimization of system performance, power splitting protocols applied to relay in the cooperative communication undergo co-channel interference. When relay adjust power distribution factors undergo co-channel interference, it is possible to optimize and maximize the channel capacity of the receiver. Because of energy haversting, interfence transfer to new power source. If we found optimal power levels, to solve inability in system, and to increase the efficiency of the network.
