Evaluation of Unit Side Resistance of Drilled Shafts by Revised SPT N Value (환산SPT N값을 이용한 현장타설말뚝의 단위주면마찰지지력 산정)

  • Bearing capacity of a drilled shaft can be separated into side resistance and base resistance. But in domestic design procedure side resistance is usually underestimated compared with base resistance. Results of bi-directional test showed that measured side resistances in each different layers are larger than those evaluated from several suggested methods. In this study, measured side resistances in each different layer of drilled shafts installed in domestic sites are analyzed and compared with evaluated side resistances from the method using revised SPT N value. For weathered rock and soft rock layer, from which rock core can hardly be obtained, we suggested new evaluated methods using revised SPT N value instead of the method using uniaxial compressive strength of rock. Resuts showed that the ranges of side resistance of cohesive and non-cohesive layer are $f_s{\leq}5tf/m^2$ and $f_s{\leq}15tf/m^2$ respectively. Range of side resistance in weathered rock is $15tf/m^2$ < $f_s{\leq}50tf/m^2$ and that in soft rock $f_s{\geq}35tf/m^2$.

Analysis of the Gas Feed Distribution at the Gas Sweetening Absorber Using CFD (CFD를 활용한 산성가스 처리공정용 흡수탑 가스분산성 향상 연구)

  • Regarding the design of the gas sweetening absorber, the gas distribution analysis for the increase of the sour gas removal and reduction of the tower height is very important research topics. Recently, regarding the $CO_2$ capture technology which is a promising option for the reduction of the greenhouse gas (GHG), the need for the gas distribution improvement is increased as the gas treating capacity increases. In this paper, we have investigated the sour gas distribution in the absorber using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) based on 10 MW post-combustion $CO_2$ capture plant installed in Boryeong power station, Korea Midland Power company. For this purpose, we suggested the three possible technology options (splash plate, spiral gas line and U-tube) for the gas distribution enhancement and compared the effect of the each cases. The result showed that the U-tube installed in the absorber increase the gas distribution about 30% compared to the base case, while the delta P increasement was about 10%. From these results, it was found that the U-tube installation is an effective technology option for the gas distribution enhancement in the gas sweetening absorber.

Flexural-Shear Behavior of Beam Members according to the Spacing of Stirrups and Tension Steel Ratio (스터럽간격과 인장철근비에 따른 고강도 콘크리트 보의 파괴거동)

  • Existing tests results have shown that confining the concrete compression region with closed stirrups improves the ductility and load-carrying capacity of beams. However, only few researchers have attempted to utilize the beneficial effects of the presence of these stirrups in design. This paper presents the result of experimental studies on the load-deflection behavior and the strengthening effect of laterally confined structural high-strength concrete beam members in which confinement stirrups have been introduced into the compression regions. Fifteen tests were conducted on full-scale beam specimens having concrete compressive strength of 41 MPa and 61 MPa. Different spacing of stirrups(0.25∼1.0d) and amount of tension steel($0.55{\sim}0.7{\rho}_b$) as major variables were investigated. And also, this study present an appropriate shear equation for decision of ultimate failure modes of high-strength concrete beams according to stirrup spacing. The equation is based on interaction between shear strength and displacement ductility. Prediction of failure mode from presented method and comparison with test results are also presenteded

  • HTB (hybrid truss bridge) steel truss webs instead of concrete webs in prestressed box girder bridges has been widely used in, because of its structural benefit such as relatively less self-weight and good aesthetics due to open web structure. Since the core technology of this bridge is the connection system between concrete slabs and steel truss members, several connection systems were proposed and experimentally evaluated. Also, the selected joint system was applied to the real bride design and construction. The researches were performed on the connection system, since it can affect the global behavior of this bridge such as flexural and fatigue behaviors as well as the local behavior around the connection region. The evaluation study showned that HTB applied to a curved bridge or a eccentric loading bridge, characteristic has a weak torsional capacity compared to an ordinary PSC box girder bridges due to the open structure of HTB. In this study, three box shaped hybrid truss specimens were made and the torsional test and evaluation for them were performed in order to find out the torsional behavior of HTB according to the connection system.

마이크로파 응용을 위한 고온초전도 필터 서브-시스템

  • Since unloaded Q-value of a high-temperature superconductor(HTS) filter is very high, a bandpass filter(BPF) and a lowpass filter(LPF) with an increase of pole numbers can be fabricated without an increase of an insertion loss(IL) ; recently a 70-pole BPF is developed in USA. They have an abrupt skirt property and an excellent attenuation level for out-of band. Moreover, they can be miniaturized when lumped element resonators or the slow-wave characteristic are used. Technology of fabricating a HTS epitaxial film as well as a film of a 4 inch area also makes the planar type filter with a various structure and an enhanced power handling capability possible. Recently, the HTS filter subsystems composed of a planar-type HTS filters, a GaAs-based LNA and a mini-cryocooler are developed. The extended receiver front- end subsystems for mobile radio communications decrease the noise-figure level of the communication system and the frequency interference interacted adjacent bands, and increase the efficiency of frequency and the capacity of communication system. In this paper, theory for developing the HTS filter, its kinds, its design rules, its characteristics are reviewed. The feature of the research and market trends related to the HTS filter systems for the receiver front-end subsystem of mobile base station are surveyed.

  • The heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) system is a very important part of an automotive vehicle: it controls the microclimate inside the passenger's compartment and removes the frost or mist that is produced in cold/rainy weather. In this study, the numerical analysis of the defrost duct in an HVAC system and the de-icing pattern is carried out using commercial CFX-code. The mass flow distribution and flow structure at the outlet of the defrost duct satisfied the duct design specification. For analyzing the de-icing pattern, additional grid generation of solid domain of ice and glass is pre-defined for conductive heat transfer. The flow structure near the windshield, streakline, and temperature fields clearly indicate that the de-icing capacity of the given defrost duct configuration is excellent and that it can be operated in a stable manner. In this paper, the unsteady changes in temperature, water volume fraction, and static enthalpy at four monitoring points are discussed.

Sediment Transport Characteristics in a Pressure Pipeline (압력 원형관로내 유사이송특성 연구)

  • The low carrying capacity caused by the deposition in a sewer line is one of the main reason of the urban flood. Therefore, an efficient maintenance and management of the storm water drainage system is very important to prevent urban flood. In this research, the sediment transport characteristics through a pressure pipeline were examined with laboratory experiments. Bed-forms in a pipeline, sediment rates, roughness due to sediments were examined. Experimental system consists of flow circulation system with a pump and a sediment feeder at the upstream of the pipeline. Sediments were supplied into a 60 mm-diameter and 8 m-long pipe. Maximum flow rate is $30m^3/hr$, and the sediment feeding rate range is 5 g/s~19 g/s. Governing parameters and estimation equation for sediment transport rate were developed. The mean velocity (U), coefficient of viscosity (${\mu}$), unit width bed load ($q_b$), mean diameter of particle ($d_{50}$), unit weight of sediment in water (${\gamma}^{\prime}_s$) were adopted as the most influencing factors of sediment transport patterns. The prediction equation for sediment transport rate were developed with two dimensionless terms. These two dimensionless terms showed a linear relationship with high correlation coefficient.

Influence of Dietary Addition of Dried Wormwood (Artemisia sp.) on the Performance, Carcass Characteristics and Fatty Acid Composition of Muscle Tissues of Hanwoo Heifers

  • An experiment was conducted to examine the performance and carcass characteristics of Hanwoo (Korean native beef cattle) heifers and the fatty acid composition of muscle tissues of the heifers when the animals fed diets containing four levels of dried wormwood (Artemisia sp.). For the experiment the animals were given a basal diet consisting of rice straw and concentrate mixed at 3:7 ratio (on DM basis). The treatments were designed as a completely randomized design with two feeding periods. Heifers were allotted in one of four dietary treatments, which were designed to progressively substitute dried wormwood for 0, 3, 5 and 10% of the rice straw in the basal diet. There was no difference in body weight gain throughout the entire period between the treatment groups. Feed conversion rate was improved (p<0.05) only by the 3% dried wormwood inclusion treatment compared with the basal treatment. Carcass weight, carcass yield and backfat thickness of all treatment groups were not altered by wormwood inclusion. The 5% dried wormwood inclusion significantly increased (p<0.05) the size of loin-eye area over the other treatments. The higher levels (5 and 10%) of dried wormwood inclusion resulted in the higher (p<0.05) water holding capacity (WHC) in loin than the lower levels (0 and 3%) of wormwood inclusion. The redness ($a^*$) and yellowness ($b^*$) values of meat color were significantly lower (p<0.05) in the top round muscle of heifers fed the diet containing 3% dried wormwood. There was a profound effect of the progressively increased intake of dried wormwood led to the linear increase of unsaturated fatty acid content and the linear decrease of saturated fatty acid content in the muscle tissues of Hanwoo heifers. It is concluded that the feeding diets containing dried wormwood substituted for equal weights of rice straw at 5% levels would be anticipated to provide better quality roughage for beef heifer production and economical benefits for beef cattle producers.

  • 본 연구는 조사대상지역인 전라남도 해남군 전역에 대해 현장조사된 지질 및 지하수 양수량 자료등과 같은 수리정보를 종합적으로 분석하고 이를 Landsat 영상자료과의 영상융합 과정을 통해 지하수 부존가능성에 대한 수리 지질 지표정보로 추출함으로서 지하수 특성정보를 위성영상정보와 연계하여 효과적으로 도시하고자 하였다. 현장조사시 획득된 자료는 해남지역을 11개 소유역으로 구분한 후 각 구역에 대한 2000여개 관점에서 측정된 양수량과 안정지하수위를 이용하여 산출한 비용출량 자료(groundwater specific capacity)와 각 소 유역 (unit watershed)에 대한 선구조 분석자료, 지질별 분포, 정밀고도자료를 추출하여 산출한 고도, 경사도 분포, 수계패턴과 수계밀도로서 이를 통합적으로 분석하여 해남지역에 대한 지하수 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 위성영상자료의 처리과정은 Landsat 5 TM 영상자료는 '86. 12. 11 및 '98. 12. 28에 촬영된 WRS(World Reference System) Row-Path116-36로서, 1986년 영상은 12년 차이의 해남의 변화지역을 탐지하기 위한 영상자료로서 활용하였으며 98년 영상을 주요 분석 자료로 이용하였으며 지표 이용정보 추출은 크게 수역추출, 식생분포추출, 지표분류도, 변화탐지영역추출로 구분된다. 본 연구방법은 크게 위성영상분석을 통해 추출된 정보와 지표조사를 통해 획득된 선구조 및 지하수 정보를 Data fusion 방식으로 이용되고 있는 IHS 변환 기법을 통해 본 역에 대한 지하수 정보 및 간척지 등에 의한 지표 개발에 따른 지하수 부존 가능성을 탐색하기 위한 현황을 효과적인 자료로 표현하고자 하였다.및 스페클 잡영 제거 정도에 있어 다른 필터들과 큰 차이가 없지만 경계선보존지수는 다른 필터들에 비하여 가장 우수함을 확인할 수 있었다.rbon 탐식효율을 조사한 결과 B, D 및 E 분획에서 유의적인 효과를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 종합해볼 때, ${\beta}$-glucan은 고용량일 때 직접적으로 또는 $IFN-{\gamma}$ 존재시에는 저용량에서도 복강 큰 포식세로를 활성화시킬 뿐 아니라, 탐식효율도 높임으로써 면역기능을 증진 시키는 것으로 나타났고, 그 효과는 crude ${\beta}$-glucan의 추출조건에 따라 달라지는 것을 알 수 있었다.eveloped. Correlation of Experimental ana Analytical Inelastic Responses of 1:12 Scale Irregular High-Rise RC Buildings (1:12축소 비정형 고층 RC 건물의 비선형거동에 대한 실험과 해석의 상관성)

  • Three types of high-rise RC building structures having irregularity in the lower two stories were selected as prototypes and were performed nonlinear static analysis by using OpenSees to verify the analysis technique and to investigate the seismic capacity of those buildings. The first one has a symmetrical moment resisting frame (Model 1), the second has an infilled shear wall in the central frame (Model 2), and the third has an infilled shear wall only in one of exterior frames (Model 3). Fiber model, which consists of concrete and reinforcing bar represented from stress-strain relationship, is adapted used for simulate the nonlinearity of members, and MVLEM(Multi vertical linear element model) is used for simulate the behavior of wall. The analytical results are simulate the behavior of piloti stories well, for example, the stiffness and yield farce of piloti stories, the up-lift of wall and the variation of lateral stiffness of column due to the variation of axial forces. Overstrength of Model 2 and Model 3 are about 2 times larger than that of Model 1. The reason of the high oversttrength and ductility of Model 2 and Model 3 is that the conservative design of Model 2 and Model 3, whose beam and column sections are the same as those of Model 1. The ductilities of Model 1 and Model 3 are slightly larger than that of Model 1 and Model 3. Model 1 and Model 3 reached mechanism condition, whereas Model 2 failed to the shear failure of shear wall and the large axial forces in columns due to large overturning moment.
