Objectives: This study was to measure community capacity using individual-level and organizational-level capacity indicators and illuminated the relationship of community capacity and self-rated health status in two regions in Seoul, Korea. Methods: The data from individual surveys were obtained by quota sampling the residents of two autonomous gu in Seoul (N=1,000). The data from organizational surveys were obtained by snowball sampling lists of organizations in the possession of gu offices with a sampling frame (N=153). The survey tools were 6 indicators regarding residents' social capital and a sense of community and 5 indicators regarding community-based organizations and their networks. The analysis methods consisted of the effect of the components of capacity on health status and social network analysis. Results: As for capacity on individual levels, while D-gu was mainly developed inn individual capacity in terms of social interaction, Y-gu was stronger in a sense of community and cohesion among residents. As for capacity on organizational levels, Y-gu was more developed than was D-gu in associational networks. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop health promotion program per community and to strengthen partnerships with and among grassroots organizations based in local communities through the measurement of community capacity.
This study divided a group of healthy adults aged 20 or older who had a health examination at J General Hospital in Gyeonggi Province into three groups according to the degrees of metabolic syndrome risk factors. They include the normal group (n=58), the pre-metabolic syndrome group (n=112) and the metabolic syndrome group (n=32). They were compared in exercise capacity and cardiac structure and function and impacts of exercise capacity on the cardiac diastolic function. All the groups took echocardiography to have their cardiac structures and functions examined and an exercise stress test to have their exercise capacity measured. The research findings were as follows: There were differences in exercise capacity, cardiac structure, and diastolic heart function among three groups. Between exercise capacity and diastolic heart function was found to be related. It turned out exercise capacity affected the cardiac diastolic functions. In conclusion, there were significant differences in exercise capacity between the normal group and the metabolic syndrome group and in the cardiac structure and function among the normal, metabolic syndrome, and pre-metabolic syndrome group. In addition, METs (metabolic equivalents) and heart rate recovery of exercise capacity turned out to affect cardiac diastolic functions.
This study was aimed at measuring the fishing capacity of Powered Anchovy Drag Net Fisheries (PADNF) in Korea using Peak-to-Peak(PTP) and Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA) methods recommended by FAO. In the analysis, both fishing capacities of total PADNF and individual PADNF vessels were measured with time series data and cross sectional data, respectively. In addition, the results of the DEA measurement were analyzed in order to determine reduction levels of fishing capacity. In case of total PADNF, the results by rn and DEA methods showed a similar rate of capacity utilization (79%), indicating the capacity was not utilized enough. In addition, the sensitivity analysis suggested that the number of vessels should be reduced by 20%, and the gross tonnage and the horse power should be reduced by 20% and 21%, respectively if the current catch is to stay at the 2004 level. The DEA results on individual PADNF vessels indicated the capacity utilization was 75% on average, showing some differences in capacity utilization among vessels (31%-100%). The results of the study would be useful for measuring production efficiency in PADNF. They would also provide good policy information for efficient use of resources and capacity reduction levels, which are useful far vessel buyback programs of coastal and offshore fisheries.

This paper describes a capacity of distributed generation which will be interconnected at low voltage distribution systems. In order to set the capacity of distributed generation, a voltage variation of distribution system is considered. Besides, the capacity of distributed generation is classified according to a capacity of pole transformer and loads. The system constructions in this paper are analyzed by using PSCAD/EMTDC. In the immediate future, it is expected to increase the installation of New and renewable energy systems which are generally interconnected to distribution power systems in the form of distributed generations like photovoltaic system, wind power and fuel cell. So the study of this kind would be needed to limit the capacity of distributed generation.

It is well known that Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems offer the promise of achieving very high spectrum efficiencies (many tens of bit/s/Hz) in a mobile environment. The gains in MIMO capacity are sensitive to the presence of spatial and temporal correlation introduced by the radio environment. In this paper, we examine how MIMO capacity is influenced by a number of factors e.g., a) temporal correlation b) various combinations of low/high spatial correlations at either end, c) combined spatial and temporal correlations. In all cases, we compare the channel capacity that would be achievable under independent fading. We investigate the behaviour of "capacity fades," examine how often the capacity experiences the fades, develop a method to determine level crossing rates and average fade durations and relate these to antenna numbers. We also evaluate the influence of channel correlation on the capacity autocorrelation and assess the fit of a Gaussian random process to the temporal capacity sequence. Finally we note that the particular spatial correlation structure of the MIMO channel is influenced by a large number of factors. For simplicity, it is desirable to use a single overall correlation measure which parameterizes the effect of correlation on capacity. We verify this single parameter concept by simulating a large number of different spatially correlated channels.
Intersection control has dual-purposes; increasing capacity and reducing delay. The primary concern of efficient intersection control under oversaturated condition as in Korea is to increase capacity. Prevailing intersection operation technique permits thru traffic to utilize left turn lane, because the intersection without left turn pocket has left turn signal interval. In this situation, it seems not to be valid to calculate capacity, delay, and signal timings by conventional methods. By critical lane technique, capacity increases as cycle length increases. However, when thru traffic utilize LT lane, the capacity varies according to LT volume, LT interval as well as cycle length, which implies that specific cycle length and LT interval exist to maximize capacity for given LT volume. The study is designed is designed to calculate utilization factors of LT lane for thru traffic and capacities, and identify signal timings to yield maximum capacity. The experimental design involved has 3 variables; 1)LT volumes at each approach(20-300 vph), 2)cycle lengths (60-220 sec), and 3)LT intervals(2.6-42 sec) for one scenario of isolated intersection crossing two 6-lanes streets. For LT volume of 50-150 vph, capacity calculated by using the utilization factor is about 25% higher than that by critical lane method. The range of optimum cycle length to yield maximum capapcity for LT volume less than 120 vph is 140-180 sec, and increases as LT volume increases. The optimum LT interval to yield maximum capacity is longer than the intrval necessary to accommodate LT volume at saturation flow rate.
This paper discusses the merits of the community capacity and capacity building concepts, the strategies used for building community capacity and their implications for community health nursing. Community capacity is defined as the interaction of the human capital, organizational resources, and social capital existing within a given community that can be used to improve or maintain the health of the community. Community capacity building is one approach to promoting community health. This approach takes a comprehensive, dynamic, and multidimensional view of community needs and circumstances and places an emphasis on asset development, collaboration among community organizations, and community participation. The major strategies for community capacity building involve activities such as facilitating the development of an asset-based approach to community, developing leadership, establishing partnership, organization development, utilizing community resources, and developing public relations. The implications of community capacity for community health nursing are addressed in terms of the need for community health education and practicum, long-term commitment, partnerships, and a paradigm shift. The author suggests that the concept of community capacity building may be useful for improving the health of both the entire community and its individual residents.
This paper presents the parametric numerical analysis on the ultimate bearing capacity of the purlin-sheet roofs connected by standing seam clips. The effects of several factors on failure modes and ultimate bearing capacity of the purlins are studied, including setup of anti-sag bar, purlin type, sheet thickness and connection type et al. A simplified design formula is proposed for predicting the ultimate bearing capacity of purlins. Results show that setting the anti-sag bars can improve the ultimate bearing capacity and change the failure modes of C purlins significantly. The failure modes and ultimate bearing capacity of C purlins are significantly different from those of Z purlins, in the purlin-sheet roof connected by standing seam clips. Setting the anti-sag bars near the lower flange is more favorable for increasing the ultimate bearing capacity of purlins. The ultimate bearing capacity of C purlins increases slightly with sheet thickness increasing from 0.6 mm to 0.8 mm. The ultimate bearing capacity of the purlin-sheet roofs connected by standing seam clips is always higher than those by self-drilling screws. The predictions of the proposed design formulas are relatively in good agreement with those of EN 1993-1-3: 2006, compared with GB 50018-2002.

Estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system is very important process to grasp reasonable size of designing technique architecture and budget during step of ISP(information strategic planning) and development. It hugely influences cost and quality of the whole project. While investment on information system hardware has been continuously increased, there was no certified hardware capacity estimating method in e-learning system development. A guideline for hardware sizing of information systems was established by Telecommunication Technology Association in 2008. However, the guideline is not appropriate for estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system because it was designed to provide general standards for estimating hardware capacity of various types of projects. The purpose of this paper is to provide a methodology for estimating optimum hardware capacity in e-learning system development. To develop the methodology, this study, first of all, analyzes two e-learning development projects, in which the guideline was applied to estimate optimum hardware capacity. Then, this study finds out several key factors influencing on hardware capacity. Finally, this study suggests a methodology for estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system, in which weights for the factors are determined through AHP analysis.
