  • This paper described about on-machine profile measurement of aspheric surfaces using contact probing technique in ultra precision machine. A contact probe has been designed as a sensing device to obtain measuring resolutions in nanometer regime using a circle leaf spring mechanism and a capacitive-type sensor. The contact probe which is installed on the z-axis is In touch with the aspheric objects which is fixed on the spindle of the diamond turning machine(DTM) during the measuring procedure. The x, z-axis motions of the machine are monitored by a set of two orthogonal plane mirror type laser interferometers. As a results, the developed contact probe on-machine measurement system showed 10 nanometers repeatability with a ${\pm}2{\sigma}$ and uncertainty of 200 nmPv.

  • This paper presents a novel user interface system which aims at easy controlling of mobile devices. The fundamental concept of the proposed interface is to launch an appropriate function of the device by sensing and recognizing the grip-pattern when the user tries to use the mobile device. To this end, we develop a prototype system which employs capacitive touch sensors covering the housing of the system and a recognition algorithm for offering the appropriate function which suitable for the sensed grip-pattern. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method is evaluated through the test of recognition rate with the collected grip-pattern database.

  • A novel and intuitive way of accessing applications of mobile devices is presented. The key idea is to use grip-pattern, which is naturally produced when a user tries to use the mobile device, as a clue to determine an application to be launched. To this end, a capacitive touch sensor system is carefully designed and installed underneath the housing of the mobile terminal to capture the image of the user's grip-pattern. The captured data is then recognized by a recognizer with dedicated preprocessing and postprocessing algorithms. The recognition test is performed to validate the feasibility of the proposed user interface system.

  • We prepared a flexible and transparent CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer electrodes on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate using a specially designed roll-to-roll sputtering system at room temperature for GFF-type touch screen panels (TSPs). By the continuous roll-to-roll sputtering of the CuO and Cu layer, we fabricated a flexible CuO(150nm)/Cu(150nm)/CuO(150nm) multilayer electrodes with a sheet resistance of $0.289{\Omega}/square$, resistivity of $5.991{\times}10^{-23}{\Omega}-cm$, at the optimized condition without breaking the vacuum. To investigate the feasibility of the CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer as a transparent electrode for GFF-type TSPs, we fabricated simple GFF-type TSPs using the diamond patterned CuO/Cu/CuO electrode on PET substrate as function of mesh line width. Using diamond patterned CuO/Cu/CuO electrode of mesh line $5{\mu}m$ with sheet resistance of 38 Ohm/square, optical transmittance of 90% at 550 nm and an average transmittance of 89% at wavelength range from 380 to 780 nm, we successfully demonstrated GFF-type touch panel screens (TPSs). The successful operation of GFF-type TPSs with CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer electrodes indicates that the CuO/Cu/CuO multilayer is a promising transparent electrode for large-area capacitive-type TPSs due to its low sheet resistance and high transparency.

  • To produce an input device stably using the transparent electromagnetic pattern of an electromagnetic induction method, pattern inspection is required in advance in the production process. Various methods of inspecting the capacitive pattern for hand-touch have been proposed, but it is difficult to find the related technical data for the pattern inspection method of the transparent electromagnetic induction method. In this study, to develop an inspection system for a fused electromagnetic resonance pen sensor with a copper-etched metal mesh pattern, an inspection algorithm and method for measuring the antenna impedance inside the sensor was proposed by measuring only the exposed FPCB connector. The proposed method was configured as a control board consisting of a microprocessor that forms a loop between specific channels according to the command of a computer, a computer-controlled by the Windows program, an LCR meter measuring the impedance between specific channels, and transmitting the measurement results back to the computer. An evaluation of the proposed system and measurements of nine specimens showed that it could detect the defects of the sensor used in the actual product.
